Gentle manipulation is what they’ll do — telling you the percentage of injuries, making you afraid of it, or how you’ll end up hurting yourself. 

But as soon as they see you enjoy it, running out of the house despite their strict rules, it tells them you aren’t stopping anytime soon. Finally, they set their foot down and shrug their shoulders; essentially supporting your decision. Just as long as you don’t try to join prizefighting, they’ll allow it; making you promise to take care of yourself, letting them join your rounds at some point, and taking needed breaks. 

Within a few weeks, they migrate into your schedule and like to watch you train and even participate. If you don’t have the equipment, it’s where all their money goes — getting supporting bandages, gloves, punching bags, and possibly a ring. 

Each of them takes turns on training you, which can be fun or a disaster. 

Simon isn’t nice nor easy going against; he tries to go easy, but with his size and stance, he knows how to read your next moves. He lets you get the first jab, or block, but he wants to help you train and be ready whenever, so he’s ruthless. 

Price is the same — but gentler, praising you or telling you something wrong; easily smirking with a, “Atta’ kid!” when you achieve the goals. 

Johnny and Gaz are agile, have much energy and are quite relentless with their dodging. It’s a good fight to go against em, especially since both of them share their liking of joking within the trail. 

If they can’t personally train you, they find someone trustable to train you. And by chance, they come when you’re still training, they all love to sit down and watch you. Johnny and Gaz love hyping you up, both of them throwing bets that you’ll win each time, and sighing out when you do, because the other one gets to help you. 

Price and Simon watch you closely, cringing when you get hit, but smiling when you get up. They also love supporting you silently with cold water, and helping you with re-bandaging your hand-wrappings.

hello! i came across your wips button and i wonder if youll ever go do them? the transformers ones sound super good!!

That.... is an excellent question and one I'm not super equipped to answer! The boring downer angle is that I've been horribly, immovably blocked on art and writing for a long while now, and it drives me nuts trying to shake that AND i rarely have any luck. I know i can write pretty darn well, and I can do it FAST, there was a hot minute where i successfully held myself to uploading at least one piece of art or writing per day. That pace was never going to last, my art got better and my fics got longer, plus i went from languishing in the falling action of grad school to having an actual job, which was both a less flexible schedule and also more money to explore other hobbies. But that period of my life really drove home how important that rhythm and periodicity is to me, and i haven't been able to recapture that in years.

As it is right now, if i manage to finish anything, it's only going to happen with either a fandom at the VERY very forefront of my mind (svsss or the raksura core au right now), or with an idea too fresh and good and crunchy to resist, independent of fandom (there's a dungeon meshi idea lightly haunting me). Transformers is a remarkably good playground, I love it SO much, but it's been years since I reread any significant part of it, so the ideas aren't flowing. I trust my old ideas, but if the canon isn't fresh, or I'm not actively talking about it, the spark is unlikely to catch. There's an off-chance of me reacting to an idea in some other fic via a medium of transformers smut, but I'm also struggling to read right now too 🥲

But! But!!!! A thing ive noticed and that drives me bananas is that when i move, the shape of my hobbies changes. I vibed really well with writing in NJ and MA, and COMPLETELY lost the ball when i relocated to VA. I cross-stitched in NJ, faded in MA, and lost it in VA. I bookbound like nuts in VA, but i just did a local move, and I'm no longer getting the reaction of 'I'm idle, I should make a book.' I don't know where things will go, first was a rush to unpack my boxes, then was a rush to learn to paint a room, and now my home is full of jumbled furniture and objects and I'm so overwhelmed that all I want to do is lie in bed and level grind in video james.

Teal deer, i can't tell what hobby is going to take center stage now, and it's driving me nuts. But it could be writing! I'm much more confident about my writing than lots of other creative endeavors. I also want to revisit canon for a lot of old fandoms. I think the wip list predates my cnovel phase, but i have two beefy svsss wips, and at least two short ones, and two aus I'd love to flesh out. I have raksura core writing. I have a tf bookbinding project that's been languishing for. 1.5 years. But if i can find my momentum, I'll be diving back into canon. And i really think 5-10k of hard weird emotional smut really is my wheelhouse. I wish so hard i could recapture that energy! This is a response much longer than it needed to be, but just imagine me as the WHY ARE YOU CLOSED meme at my own brain, and much more confused and frustrated than anyone else that I don't write anymore 🤣

BUCCHIGIRI?! Rant

This show could have been so great. It could have been my everything. It was so cute when I first discovered it. The character designs are PHENOMENAL, the setting in fantastic, the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous—it is a visual masterpiece. Every character is so interesting, the story is actually engaging and cute. IT IS ALSO SO GAY OMG I LOVE IT! The men are all over each other and Ara-chan every episode, I’m not even making this shit up. It could have been so amazing.

But they ruined it.

They failed me and my love because of one character.

This girl…when you first see her is so adorable, so sweet. It’s unassuming. She’s got the whole heart aesthetic going on, lots of pink—instantly I was thinking about all the cute figures that were going to come out for her and how she was going to become a fav character of mine! She’s a nice soft character who you’re like “Oh! She’s a very cute love interest for this anime. I can’t wait to see where their love goes!” And all is well. For the first half of episode one. Then…all hell breaks loose when we meet Marito, her brother.

Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE Marito!!! Marito is a stunning character and I love him to death, I am obsessed. He’s so handsome and I love his vibes. However…I am not the only one who is obsessed with him.

I haven’t been this disappointed in such a long time. Why? Why does anime do this to us? Why does it hurt me in such a violent and awful way? Why does it take so much from me? Literally cried after it was revelaved that she wants on her brother to LOVE and fight for her. Nearly threw up.

She was a great character and then we saw the truth, and it’s all inc*st with her now. GROSS. Every sentence that comes out of her goddamn mouth is about this man that I love(d, depending if I can stomach more of this God forsaken relationship) and it’s weirding me tf out. She appears in every other scene and quite literally ONLY talks about him. It’s so fucking disappointing. I think she’s only had one or two sentences that had nothing to do with her brother after we were introduced to him, and that’s fucking sad.

If I were to revamp this series, I would immediately change her character. Don’t get me wrong, I would keep her as a character because she has a great design, but make her want/talk about something ANYTHING else. If she had any other interests to share and, ya know, wasn’t looking to bang her sibling, it would have been fine! It’s vile that the author literally only uses her to remind everyone that she’s obsessed with her brother and wants to ROMANTICALLY be involved with him.

The ONLY redeeming thing is that Marito doesn’t return her feelings AT ALL. But it’s not helping my cringing at all. It makes the experience so fucking awful. Every time I try to enjoy it again, she’s rears her ugly head around and starts yapping.

I wanted to like this show so fucking bad…but her behavior ruins it so much that I can’t watch it.

It breaks my heart to see such promising new animes rely so heavily on these overused DISGUSTING themes when there is LITERALLY NO GODDAMN NEED FOR THEM!!! They weird everyone out, and you shit on a perfectly wonderful story by adding it. I wish they’d stop to let this go.

Sorry that was a long rant, but I had to let the people know my thoughts and violent feelings on this. I want to smack this author so bad, my hand is ITCHING for the opportunity one day.

I watched the first episode of The Story of Park's Marriage Contract.

First of all, who tf came up with that title? So unnecessarily long and unwieldy.

This is the first romcom kdrama have watched in a long time. I kind of forgot that amount of suspension of disbelief you need to have at some of the situations. A girl walking alone in the dark (she's the heroine so I trust that 99 percent of the time nothing horrible/terrible/tragic will happen) but I was still like girlllll, pls have a care.

The other situations I had a hard time digesting were all the oh, let me catch you in a bridal dip by complete accident. And then I realised like I do need to remember that it's part of the kdrama formula and I may not vibe with it but I gotta live with it.

Anyway, a good first episode. It did spend like 20 minutes or so finding it's legs but it's steadiest aspect is most definitely Lee Se Young as Park Yeon Woo. She's a great mix of sheltered and naive, but also wilful and determined and not in the way that makes you want to smack someone. It makes you cheer her on. Or perhaps that is most definitely the Lee Se Young factor.

The second steadiest aspect is the love Yeon Woo's family has for her. And her conversation with her mom. Did I tear up? Yes I teared up. I'm always a sucker for good mother-daughter conversations done well, no matter how painful the conversation.

And I'm not sure if this is a steady aspect, but it's most certainly hilarious. And that's Sa Wol. If Yeon Woo is at a 1000 percent charm offensive, Sawol is at 999 percent. I enjoyed all her scenes with Yeon Woo and separately.

Also poor, poor Joseon Kang Tae Ha. He was really sweet and lovely and you can absolutely see why Yeon Woo gave her heart over completely. I'm not sure how the present day fellow will turn out ( he's already annoyingly pedantic but I suppose if the same issues as the Joseon time persist then he's packing some trauma for sure)

Still, enjoyable first episode. I hope the series sustains the same comedy feel throughout but I also will not hope much. More importantly, let's hope my interest is sustained throughout. 🥲

That way, I can still be like, why yes, I absolutely do still have a "I am kdrama fan" card.

ok my opinion now that i finished y8's story (spoilers)

tldr; overall it's a flawed but better end for kiryu than 6 imo. n ichiban is there <3 don't play this as your first yakuza game please don't you will get so much more out of this if you actually know who tf anyone is

it wasn't as awesomesauce as it seemed like it was gonna n it fell into the usual rgg problems - while surprisingly fixing a big one

kiryu's story effected me a lot 🥲 while ichiban's was just mostly "well i get to see ichiban yay". not to say i didn't care at all lmao the hawaii plot definitely still had it's strong moments (especially the scene w chitose after the bryce boss!!!) it just didn't hit the same overall

positive: KIRYU. i honestly loved most of the kiryu stuff. letting him look back outside of traumatic flashbacks.... letting him have a nice time..... giving him all these new friends that won't die on top of reassuring him that his old connections are still alright.... getting his ass punched by akiyama lmao. it really makes you realize how weird of an ending y6 would've been if that was truly kiryu's last game. so nice to finally be able to acknowledge previously tossed out characters/story beats in-game. seeing shinada mentioned… i cheered (i wish he was actually in there tho). on the hawaii side: tomizawa n chitose r sooooo good i didn't even think i'd end up liking chitose but i lov her.... n ichiban is the ichiban as usual

n the main villains don't die this game!? they're expected to live w what they did, even the evil cult leader!?!? kiryu's line abt not being able to change anything if you're dead wow wow wow hearing that after the prev games where a lot of them die even when they were able to change wooooooow. the pre-credits ending was sooooooo strong. I LUV KIRYU :( :) :(

thinking about how this was definitely a question young k'uk'ulkan asked his advisors (perhaps the shaman, if he was still alive) after fen's death. and their answer was most likely "only the most broken people can be great leaders" — which, if you think about it, is an awful thing to say to a child, but well! ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ then he ended up internalizing it and repeating it to shuri centuries later, foreshadowing that he would be the one to inevitably break her.

i'm almost positive that the reason he's more drawn to shuri than he is to ramonda — despite the latter being on more equal ground with him as ruler and thus in a better position to engage in negotiations — is bc he sees something of his younger, freshly grieving, more innocent self in shuri. whereas with ramonda, maybe she reminds him too much of what he lost, perhaps sparking in him an irrational jealousy that shuri — to him a version of himself — still has what he can no longer have. someone who truly knows him, knows his heart as a person and not as a god. (this is separate, but adds to, his resentment towards wakanda for having taken actions that indirectly led to the endangerment of talokan, and his jealousy that wakanda was "saved" in a way that his people were not.)

while it may seem that fen simply died of old age, the way k'uk'ulkan spoke of her implies that a broken heart, her futile longing for her old home, sped up the process. and then she makes him promise to bury her on the surface, a place he had never been to and whose dangers he had been warned of his whole life. when he goes up there, sees for himself the bloodshed and the slavery and the hate, a burning rage is born in his heart. how could this be the land that his mother so dearly loved, so much so that she wasted away for want of it, when he still needed her, needed his mother, needed her love? el niño sin amor — the child with no love. no love for the surface, for it was his mother's love for the surface world that took away her love from him.

i'm not sure if he realized what exactly would happen when he threw the water grenades into the throne room, but nonetheless, once the glass floor broke and ramonda and riri fell through — that was him challenging ramonda, making her choose: save the scientist or herself. ramonda makes the same choice he thinks fen made — the surface world (in this case, riri) over her child. shuri breaks, and right then, he thinks he has finally made her in his image — as a god, as a child without love.

but in the last moments of their battle on the beach, both their mothers appear to them. ramonda to shuri, to remind her that this blind vengeance is not who she is, that she has not been abandoned, that she was raised with love and is still capable of extending that love to others. fen to k'uk'ulkan, as an apology and a reminder to him that she never stopped loving him, that he is still capable of loving and being loved in a way that doesn't hurt.

so while we see the bigger themes of two marginalized peoples initially at odds coming together to realize that the real enemy is not each other, we also see on a more personal level two broken people coming to terms with their experiences of grief and loss, understanding where the other is coming from. (shuri doesn't have to forgive him though! as intriguing as i find k'uk'ulkan's character, a line crossed is still a line crossed.)

p.s. i'm personally of the opinion that inframundo is about fen, from k'uk'ulkan's perspective

p.p.s i want to ignore that last scene with k'uk'ulkan and namora bc whatever tf was going on there (except for the mural) makes it seem like he has not learned his lesson 🥲 (i know it's to set up future movies but i hate it!)

p.p.p.s. this was not written through a shipping lens; imo this dude needs friends, a found family, and a therapist more than he needs a love interest atm but it's whatever lol

BUCCHIGIRI?! Rant

This show could have been so great. It could have been my everything. It was so cute when I first discovered it. The character designs are PHENOMENAL, the setting in fantastic, the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous—it is a visual masterpiece. Every character is so interesting, the story is actually engaging and cute. IT IS ALSO SO GAY OMG I LOVE IT! The men are all over each other and Ara-chan every episode, I’m not even making this shit up. It could have been so amazing.

But they ruined it.

They failed me and my love because of one character.

This girl…when you first see her is so adorable, so sweet. It’s unassuming. She’s got the whole heart aesthetic going on, lots of pink—instantly I was thinking about all the cute figures that were going to come out for her and how she was going to become a fav character of mine! She’s a nice soft character who you’re like “Oh! She’s a very cute love interest for this anime. I can’t wait to see where their love goes!” And all is well. For the first half of episode one. Then…all hell breaks loose when we meet Marito, her brother.

Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE Marito!!! Marito is a stunning character and I love him to death, I am obsessed. He’s so handsome and I love his vibes. However…I am not the only one who is obsessed with him.

I haven’t been this disappointed in such a long time. Why? Why does anime do this to us? Why does it hurt me in such a violent and awful way? Why does it take so much from me? Literally cried after it was revelaved that she wants on her brother to LOVE and fight for her. Nearly threw up.

She was a great character and then we saw the truth, and it’s all inc*st with her now. GROSS. Every sentence that comes out of her goddamn mouth is about this man that I love(d, depending if I can stomach more of this God forsaken relationship) and it’s weirding me tf out. She appears in every other scene and quite literally ONLY talks about him. It’s so fucking disappointing. I think she’s only had one or two sentences that had nothing to do with her brother after we were introduced to him, and that’s fucking sad.

If I were to revamp this series, I would immediately change her character. Don’t get me wrong, I would keep her as a character because she has a great design, but make her want/talk about something ANYTHING else. If she had any other interests to share and, ya know, wasn’t looking to bang her sibling, it would have been fine! It’s vile that the author literally only uses her to remind everyone that she’s obsessed with her brother and wants to ROMANTICALLY be involved with him.

The ONLY redeeming thing is that Marito doesn’t return her feelings AT ALL. But it’s not helping my cringing at all. It makes the experience so fucking awful. Every time I try to enjoy it again, she’s rears her ugly head around and starts yapping.

I wanted to like this show so fucking bad…but her behavior ruins it so much that I can’t watch it.

It breaks my heart to see such promising new animes rely so heavily on these overused DISGUSTING themes when there is LITERALLY NO GODDAMN NEED FOR THEM!!! They weird everyone out, and you shit on a perfectly wonderful story by adding it. I wish they’d stop to let this go.

Sorry that was a long rant, but I had to let the people know my thoughts and violent feelings on this. I want to smack this author so bad, my hand is ITCHING for the opportunity one day.

hahaha thank you!!! this sudden resurgence of interest for what the body wants was completely unexpected but wholeheartedly welcomed! this fic was the first lengthy, detailed one that i published on here, so it’s such a compliment to hear that you enjoyed it ! <3 and omg, you’re making him wanna draw him now… pause… i think i will after this. 

i honestly was a little worried that both the mc’s and soobin’s change was too sudden 😭 i still feel like i could’ve executed it better, maybe? or maybe i’m just overthinking things, idk. but seriously, that smut was genuinely one of the most insane one i’ve ever written?? i didn’t realize that i’d forever be cementing soobin to a life of nonhuman!aus after that— sorry soobin i simply do not make the rules.

ok. so! in the universe that WTBW is set in, Soobin’s species (that i am too lazy to go check the name of) are seen as absolute indestructible units by both other aliens/monsters and humans. Why is that? Because of their blood! it’s used as a weapon against other nonhumans because it’s toxic and deadly— thus, the reputation of the lilac blood gave the creatures the image of being insanely dangerous. 

as a matter of fact, there are operation sites that breed and harness blood from Soobin’s species because it’s such a sought after (and illegal. insanely illegal.) weapon! and that’s the reason why humans— more specifically, the mc and her crew— are so terrified of the Hexen species, (yes i did look up the name just now.) and more importantly, their blood— because it’s known to be used as a lethal weapon. 

Now, onto the main question; blood bonds, what the hell is up with that? lilac blood is lethal to every species but the one it came from— in other words, it doesn’t harm the hexen species. so, when they give each other / inject their blood into each other (i know, it sounds a little gross) it’s basically their way of bonding/mating— it represents them uniting and becoming one, and is a promise to remain together as long as they’re alive; yeah, they bond for life! 

-[do bullets affect soobin? how strong is he?]

long story short, yes— however, they don’t affect him as much as they would a normal human, or another nonhuman that isn’t as strong as his species. would they penetrate his skin? yes, but it would be a surface wound at most; his species has evolved to be extremely strong because they carry lilac blood and are able to receive it, so their body should be strong enough to handle it, and also, they have like six other limbs to attend to— it takes quite a bit of mental and physical strength to be able to develop and strengthen everything properly, if that makes sense.

could the mc’s crew have taken him down? yeah, a headshot is a headshot and soobin would’ve been a goner askdlh,, but his threats were enough to bring them to their senses bc yk.. he has tentacles that can move at the blink of an eye and he would’ve most likely taken one of them down before getting killed. he’s not invincible, but you do have to put a little extra effort in harming/killing him.

here’s the fun part hehe— so lilac blood, when used on humans, doesn’t kill them. Instead, it acts as an aphrodisiac. originally, lilac blood was only used as a weapon against non-humans; in other words, before space exploration evolved into what it is in that universe. Because of that, the hexen species didn’t evolve to combat against humans— which means the deadly aspect is taken away from the whole injection of it all. on soobin’s planet, everyone is already strictly against interacting with humans— the hatred doesn’t run as intense as other planets however, which is why soobin is so indifferent when he encounters the mc without her pin— so really, none of them knew what would happen if you injected your blood into them. 

soobin simply thought it would work as usual; what he didn’t account for, however, was the fact that humans don’t die from it— which means that they’re able to sustain it, and now… soobin’s body and mind thinks he’s just bonded with another of his kind!

as previously mentioned, the hexen species bonds for life— meaning that, if soobin tried to kill the mc, his body would go haywire and immediately think that his mate— his other half— is dead. a life without your mate can be seriously detrimental to both one’s physical and mental health, so soobin wouldn’t have lasted long without the mc; he would’ve been immediately weakened, and the crew would’ve taken that chance to take him down— if they somehow chose to keep him alive, he quickly would’ve died after anyway. (that’s dark sorry.)
