Small rant about Allison’s Characterization

Aight so, been seeing a lot of “they ruined Allison’s character development”, and “this was super ooc” and “why did they do that? It doesn’t make sense”.

YES Allison doing that to Luther was fucked up and pretty unforgivable but it wasn’t entirely out of character so idk what y’all are on about.

Regardless of comic knowledge (in which she also does this), they hinted at this side of her and her powers in season 1. With Allison losing everything that made her want to not use her powers and be a good person, I’m not entirely surprised she regressed so hard.

Allison, on some level, has always been a little selfish, I mean she’s literally a rich and famous movie star this isn’t shocking. When we meet her in season one she isn’t at her worst behavior like some of the other characters and I think for that reason it was easy to forget what lies underneath but, “I heard a rumor that you love me” lives in my head rent free.

Let’s also not forget that she wasn’t allowed to see Claire because she was constantly rumoring her, taking away her agency and ability to be her own individual person at such a young age too, instead of actually properly parenting her. And then in season 2 they hint at it again by showing how she can get carried away or overtaken by her powers. Not that the bitches she hurt didn’t have it coming but, Rays reaction was supposed to signal that she was going too far or something. (Personally it’s whatever but the musical queue’s and such gave the vibe, to me anyway, that she enjoyed the power trip)

All I’m saying is, fucked up as it was, it was fairly in character. This side of her has always existed and has been pushed down but always there. But now with all the trauma and hopelessness she’s regressed back to how she was and is being extra self destructive on top of it. And I hope they will address the Luther stuff, but everything else she did was just as bad as the rest of the characters, so it’s pretty silly to come at her for that.

But yea I hope she has a redemption arc (?) or gets called for the SA, but everything else she did? Idk she was in her dark arc, they’ve all been there.

Spider sense and bonds - A meta about the bond of Miles and Gwen.

Hello, hello, tumblr fellas! The final scene where Gwen senses Miles in danger even in another universe has been rent free in my head for the past month, so I've tried to think of how that works.

(If you want to comment on something here, please do! I love hearing what others have to say!)

Let's go! Let's start with what we know. Spider Sense is in the movies:

Just like in the comics, I'm assuming that Spider Sense exists thanks to the Web of Life and Destiny.

(Beatiful, isn't it?)

Being a clairvoyant power of certain level, it works with what can happen and the most relevant will be warned to the spider. In we have -

a. A danger sensor, be it yours or a loved one of the spider in question. Like Miles and Jeff in the spot fight at the beginning of the movie.

Or Pav and Gayatri in the bridge scene.

b. A sort of sensor for other spiders. In the first movie, that's how Miles and all the other spiders were able to connect and recognize each other.

However, this does not happen so often in ATSV, with just Margo and Miles at Society HQ

(Remember this information, it is important.)

Which brings me to my theory.

Spider sense works as a connection and communication between the Web of Life and Destiny with the spider, which studies all the possibilities that can happen and warns and guides the spider to the event.

Most often with imminent danger.

In the case of Miles and Gwen, like bonds of compatibility, guiding them since they met and only deepening over time.

Gwen felt Miles even in completely different universes because they are the multiversal soul mates most appropriate to each other among the possibilities of the Web of Life and Destiny.

And don't get me wrong, they don't have that connection because they're a couple written in stone by some higher force. Because the Web, the Spider Sense, doesn't work with anything written in stone (including that's where Miguel made a mistake).

If they had never met, they could fall in love and live happily with other people. But they are each other's ideal people. The best compatibility of each other. And that it would only be enough: for them to coexist, to have the possibility of seeing each other, and boom! This connection so strong that it could exist was put to roll.

That's why Gwen was taken to Visions even before Miles was stung. That's why she feels Miles universes away. Of the probabilities in entire realities, they are the ones that work the best. The multiverse judged it that way and guided them and guided them, because they looked alike and because they worked, not because they were destined to do so.

(After all, the whole theme of the movies is about fate is bs and it's more about the odds and your actions on things, so...)

And you must be wondering: why Miles then doesn't feel Gwen the same way? And got that instant hookup vibe with Margo instead?

Here comes the fun part.

Our Gwen from Earth-65 is the best match for Miles Morales, the boy from Earth-1610. And Margo with Spider-Man from Earth-42. Miles from Earth-42. And as Miles was bitten by the spider from Earth-42, Margo and Miles felt that residual connection. (And so I call Prowlerbyte in Beyond)

Remember I said it's not Destiny? Our Gwen and Miles work, but not all versions of them will work. Some are, some aren't (yes, Earth-8 can still be a thing, no worries.)

And that's their fun!

They fall in love, love each other, because they are the best for each other. Because they, just like in real life, found each other and clicked.

They are soulmates because they love each other, and they don't love each other because they are soulmates.

In Viktors bio he always states that he and Jayce were never friends, that they fought constantly and that their fallout was bound to happen, but in Jayce's bio he talks about how Viktor is his only friend and the only guy who understood him, and how sad he was to fight him. It just lives in my mins rent free how differently they saw that point in their relationship.

Do you think Viktor really saw things that way in the begining or it's just something he convinces himself of because it's too much to bear otherwise? I can imagine him going to the extremes of rewritting his own memories so they don't feel even the slightest bit bittersweet, just painfull, just so he can move on.

(also, saw Pacific Rim and either this ship has rotted my brain or the two gay science bros in that movie are just LoL JayVik in a different timeline.)

I tend to lean toward the opinion that Viktor is an extremely unreliable narrator when it comes to telling his own story. It’s why I don’t believe him when he says he’s eliminated his emotions, at least not to the degree he claims to. And I do think he’s lying about his relationship with Jayce—whether he’s doing it to be cruel to Jayce with the old “oh you thought we were friends? That’s cute”, or if it’s because it’s painful and he’s protecting himself is a mystery we’ll probably never solve. And actually it’s probably a combination of both.

I’m not sure if he’d go to the extreme of rewriting his memories… that does sound like something he’d do, but… I don’t think his animosity toward Jayce would be nearly as strong as it is if he’d done that. So once again proving he’s an unreliable narrator—you say we’re all better off eliminating our emotions and yet you hold onto your hate because you think it makes you stronger? Okay king, go off I guess.

And while Giopara is a piece of work, I don’t see what cause he’d have to lie about his relationship with Viktor. Honestly, saying he and Viktor were friends only hurts his reputation, so being honest about it is a rare moment of vulnerability for him. And a lot of the voice lines from him and other characters seem to imply that Jayce is at least trying to be introspective, that he’s trying to change and be better; the one from Skarner has been living in my head since their release… “sensing grief and regret, Jayce.” ☹️☹️☹️ This is actually so sad to me, that Jayce just lives with a constant stream of grief and regret when it comes to Viktor. And that it’s there at the surface when Viktor isn’t even around? Sounds pretty gay my guy.

TLDR; yes they were friends, Viktor is a big ol’ liar who lies.

Submitting specifically because Cinderella III: A Twist in Time has lived rent-free in my head ever since I was a small child.

This Cinderella is most young (western) peoples introduction to this very story. Cinderella is so hopeful and by getting one small magical adventure, her whole life changes for the better. She is skilled and inspires such loyalty with her kindness that it’s hard to dislike her for any reason she gives. I’ve always been jealous of her ball hairdo too.

Walt Disney put all he had into this movie. And his favorite animation was the dress transformation scene. There’s a reason she is often front and center on the Princess group promotions.

she is the original. to me. probably the first exposure to cinderella for a solid chunk of people alive & on tumblr today. she is just a perfect encapsulation of everything that cinderella is, even if she's become warped in the public consciousness. also i'm pretty sure she's the reason why the glass slippers are so predominant in more recent retellings bc she is simply so iconic. 100/10 no notes 💜

She's maybe not the OG OG but she was one of the first animated Disney princesses and strangely enough it doesn't stop her from having an amazing personality. She's literally a slave but keeps being a nice person, forgiving and always doing her best. And the sequels absolutely didn't ruin her character. She's a sweet girl who tries to fit in but who's loyal to the person she is and who tries to change things always in a cute and sweet way to show people it's not that hard. She literally forgave Anastasia and tried to help her after all she did to her (the scene where the step-sisters destroy her dress still is terrifying to me)... she's awesome and deserves more recognition honestly...

This girl’s biggest chance was unfairly snatched away from her. When the Prince was brainwashed she was enough to get him to double take. She was so Right that their connection over powered magic. And she had to be rescued from a ship. And was almost crushed within a pumpkin! And finally had to expose another imposter, who turned out to be just another victim of Lady Trameine. This Cinderella fought harder for her love because she knew what True Love was like and she still was able to forgive those who asked for it.

Live-Action Remake:

Of all the live action remakes of the past decade this one is my favorite. Somehow it keeps the essence of the 1950 story but makes it today relevant. Ella really does live her life by having courage and being kind. The mice and birds might not speak but she (and we) still understand. She didn’t want to go to the ball for any grand reason besides being able to see a friend. That blue dress was so beautiful! And the butterflies! Ella and Kit matched so well together the Princess, King, and Captain of the Guard all Knew. And that wedding dress!

Plus Ella forgave her stepfamily. That is something that take such great strength of character and kindness of heart.

Tbh I've never seen the movie but I was a young impressionable child (7 years old) when it came out and. There was an ad in a paper or something and I thought she was really pretty so I cut out and hung it on the wall. It stayed up for. Many years. This was likely the first sign that I was gay.

Continuing my Arthurian concepts, Lancelot of the Lake (I wanted it to be Lancelot du Lac, but alas, it looked really bad on his sheet, with the fancy font and all). As I did with Arthur, we have Lancelot and his sword - again, I just have a thing for designing fancy swords :')

His whole concept is blue, because you know... Of the Lake. Child of Avalon. It had to be blue hahaha every detail on his sword/armour is to look like plants, fountains and water.

I also wanted his sword to have that ~clashing~ of fluid like fountain shapes and rectangular, harsh line shapes because even if he is water, he is also constant in his loyalty, beliefs and is someone you can rely on.

(oh I told you guys I have some hot takes regarding Lancelot, Guinevere and all that... 'TIS LOTTIE TIME NOW)

Also did the whole ~testing Photoshop layers thing~ again and, lo and behold, we have some vitral looking version of Lancelot. It can also be him during one of the rituals in Avalon, who knows ;)

More ramblings on my version of Lancelot, what I thought during his design, who he is to me as a character and why he has that insufferable smug smile, under the cut below hahahaha

First things first: YES, Ioan Gruffud.

I fell in love with Lancelot because of him in the 2005 King Arthur movie and that is FOREVER the vision I have of Lancelot, this man has SINGLE-HANDEDLY made me believe he is a loyal friend and a little shit at the same time and there is NO room for another Lancelot in my mind.

I fucking love him so much

The 2005 movie is one of my favourite versions (I was 13 when I first watched it, he was my teenage crush, I'll love it to death) - but it does leave a lot of the characters out to create a whole other story on its own. I love it, but there's so much more on Arthurian Legend we can work on!

My Lancelot, then: yes, prince of Benoic. Taken by Avalon, raised by the Lady of the Lake, ruthless in combat. Best Knight of the Round Table, could even be better than Arthur (some say), and fiercely loyal to his companions and commander.

One hell of a womanizer, though. This man can't see a good looking woman - or even man, for that matter - without starting to flirt and say some things that would make even the gods flush. Everyone laughs while Galahad wants to die every single time Lancelot's flirty mode is ON.

Pretty useful when they have more stealthy missions that require lying, deception and cheating - be it men or women, Lancelot's charm will NEVER fail.

(other more "brutish" Knights, so to speak, say it's his Avalon ✨ pixie charm ✨ - and really, the man doesn't disagree)

Even if he is very loyal to his friends, brothers in arms, and his beloved Arthur, he can't be like that in romances, though. Lancelot's love is a quick flame that burns down an entire forest in the blink of an eye and it's put out quickly with a heavy rain the day after, while Arthur's love is a lingering fire on a winter night, keeping his lovers warm and away from harm as long as it has wood or coal to burn.

That's why I chose to give Lancelot a more reliable look with all the rectangular shapes, constant stripes and more of a "bulky" look compared to Arthur (Arthur has more of a slim-strong constitution). But he also has some sharp points, because of how dangerous he is, and the ever flowing shapes of the water of Avalon - like his very flowy dark blue cape.

He's always covered in blood too. He is the best Knight, he has no problems when it comes to killing, and he doesn't have Arthur's moral compass. If he has to be ruthless, he will be.

And that's very important to his character, in my opinion. Lancelot is a pagan, he doesn't mind bloodshed, and he certainly has no issues with giving in to lust and earthly pleasures. There is no Heaven to judge him, and no Hell to burn him. He is fatally human. Not trying to be better and to go on a moral high horse when his hands are covered in blood and his only talent is death - just surviving his times as he can.

HENCE - and brace yourselves for hot take time! - why he loves Guinevere, but he's in NO WAY a better man than Arthur. He would stop his flirting and womanizing shenanigans for her, but WHY would she give up someone so absurdly upstanding and unreal like Arthur for him? And he doesn't want her to. She deserves better than him. He loves being around her, his heart aches, but how many hearts hasn't he broken? It's kind of a poetic justice sort of thing in his view.

And he wouldn't sleep with her, not when she loves Arthur and Arthur loves her so fucking much. He might be a little shit, yes, sassy, bitter, hedonistic and even annoying at times - but he is loyal. He doesn't love easy, and when he does, he loves hard. And he loves Arthur too much to do the one thing that would destroy the man he would give his life for.

He's a bastard, but he does have standards. A bastard with feelings :)

Jokes aside, this is, again, MY take on Lancelot. MY Lancelot, is all fun and games, will argue religion with every single catholic/christian he meets on his way, will get covered in blood during battle, will kill with no remorse, will drink with no remorse, will indulge in sex and break hearts with no remorse.

But he will give his life for his friends - he will sacrifice everything for those he loves, and his loyalty can never be bought - for in the end of the day, if he's lying on the grass choking in his own blood, he knows those are the ones who would come to his aid. He knows Arthur would rather die for him than watch him die - even if Lancelot thinks this would be the utmost stupid-est and unfairest thing to ever do.

The world deserves and needs an Arthur in it - not a Lancelot.

In my Arthurian Legend, this is his character, this is who he is. A lot more darkness and existential dread, pleasures and adrenaline rushes in battle to cover up how flawed he thinks he is - even if bards sing of his heroic feats, his reputation is that of a hero and women everywhere swoon upon hearing his name, painting him as a knight in shining armour.

He's not - he's a womanizer in a blood stained armour, pledging his killing skills to someone who has a better, idealistic view of the world and higher moral standards than him.

Veronica:

Her birthday is October 29th (Winona Ryder's)

Has always been a huge nerd

Before Duke got her into classics, she liked sci-fi stuff like Ender's Game and Dune

Made Duke watch Spaceballs with her at some point (Their friendship has so much untaped potential-)

Really likes flowers. She can't smell them well, but she thinks they're gorgeous. All her favorite perfumes are flower scents.

Best driver of all the Heathers, which is saying something. This girl is a menace to the road. She goes like 90 in a 50mph zone and loves to run stopsigns/red lights

Ohhhh this ask is fun but also pretty hard to answer cuz there are so many anime I love! Anyways: SPOILERS FOR THESE SPECIFIC ANIME UNDER THE CUT: Promare, Trigun Stampede, Classicaloid, Yuuri on Ice, Moriarty the Patriot, Tiger and Bunny, Scott Pilgrim takes off, Vanitas no Carte, Naruto and DGray Man

1) The kiss of life from Promare

This and Galo saving Lio after he had been kidnapped just gives Galo and Lio as a ship major classic disney couple vibes like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White and has essentially sedimented Galolio as one of my favourite ships of all time for the rest of my days.

2) Because I am Vash the Stampede from Trigun Stampede

Literally the moment this entire series had built up towards, the two twins’ ideologies clashing and Vash proclaiming that no matter what he will always love humanity.

3) Every time Schubert says Beethoven Senpai from Classicaloid

It’s just pure comedy gold and cracks me up EVERY TIME!

4) Victuuri Proposal from Yuuri!!! on Ice

I mean…. It’s a canon gay proposal and one of the most influential queer representations in all of Anime. How could I NOT love this???

5) Live Liam from Moriarty the Patriot

I will admit this was a hard choice between the first time Liam and Sherlock meet and the "catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes” scene, but my final decision ended up being this one. Just the build up and Sherlock being too damn stubborn to even think about letting Liam become a Martyr. The speech of talking Liam out of committing suicide for the greater good and that he is not the monster he thinks he is aaaaahhhhhh i love it all. But I love this scene especially because I am a slut for characters jumping of high places to save their loved one.

6) You are not dying, Kotetsu from Tiger & Bunny

Literally the main reason why I ship these two and believe they’re in love. Just beautiful and tragic and Barnaby having learned how to cook Kotetsu’s favourite dish aaawwweeeee.

7) Wallace’s husband from Scott Pilgrim takes off

Is it the best joke in the anime? Nah there are objectively better ones out there. Does this line live rent free in my head regardless? Yes

8) That gay ass Dance Scene from Vanitas no Carte

9) Gaara vs. Rock Lee from Naruto

I had loved Rock Lee since the very moment he had shown up on screen the first time, but this moment right here, especially when he took off those weights, solidified him as my favourite naruto character for eternity. Just this boys unyielding determination to achieve his dream even without being able to use any ninjutsu is remarkable.

10) The Earl plays the 14th melody from Dgray Man

It’s …. Idk how to explain it, to hear a song previously associated with the hero of the show, being played slightly off key by the main antagonist sends chills down my spine.

Summary: Steve does his best to avoid admitting his fear of horror movies to you. But during a movie night with the kids, you let him know that there’s no reason to be embarrassed.

You rushed through the door to the back room of Scoops Ahoy. You saw Steve and Dustin sitting across from each other at the small foldable table in the middle of the room. Both of them were giving you a confused look. "Guess what!" you said excitedly as you hurried over to them.

"What...?" Dustin asked slowly, not sure if he actually wanted to know what had you so worked up. "Nightmare on Elm Street two is coming out this weekend!" you exclaimed, gesturing wildly with your hands. You didn't notice the way Steve scrunched up his face slightly in disgust; you were too busy watching Dustin get just as excited as you. "No way!" you nodded furiously. "Yes way! The three of us should go see it this weekend!"

Steve spoke up quickly. "Can't. I gotta work this weekend" you furrowed your brows in confusion. "I thought you had this weekend off?"

"Yeah, b-but Robin! Robin asked if I could cover her shift for her this weekend" you looked as if you had deflated as you shoulders fell and a frown quickly replaced your smile. Steve immediately felt guilty for making you upset. "We can just go see it next weekend" Dustin suggested before Steve could back out of his lie. "No! No, it's fine. You guys can go see it without me"

"Are you sure?" you asked him. "Yes, I'm sure. Maybe we can go see a movie, the three of us, next weekend" Steve suggested, and you nodded in agreement. "Alright, but that means you'll have to sneak us in to our movie" Steve rolled his eyes with an amused smile on his face that told you he wasn't actually annoyed. "Oh, don't give me that! You love helping us break the rules" you leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

"Geez! Calm it down with the PDA!" you looked over to see Dustin with his hands covering his eyes. "It was one kiss, get over it Henderson. I know you kissed your girlfriend when you were off at camp, you literally told us about it” Dustin only rolled his eyes at you, and with that you turned your head to face Steve.

"Well, I gotta head to work. I'll see you later" you gave Steve one last kiss before turning to Dustin. "Don't forget about our movie plans. This Saturday night!" you pointed at him before holding your hand up for a high five that he happily gave you. "See you later, Y/N!" Dustin said.

"Bye baby. I love you" Steve said to you with a smile. "I love you too" you blew him a kiss before turning and walking into the front of the ice cream shop. "See you later Robin! Make sure to keep wingus and dingus in line!" Steve heard you call out to Robin as you left.

Steve had gotten himself out of quite the pickle, and he was hoping he wouldn't have to deal with it for a while. Steve hated horror movies. Well, more like they scared the shit out of him.

Steve had to ask Robin to work her shift, which she happily let him do. When Robin asked why he insisted he work her shift, he admitted his fear of horror movies. Robin had laughed, thinking he was joking. She quickly realized he wasn’t joking when she saw the frown on his face.

“Dude, it’s just a movie. All that shit’s fake anyway. Also next time, why don’t you just tell your partner why you don’t want to see the movie?”

“Cause they’ll laugh at me! Just like you did!”

Saturday arrived quickly, and Steve helped you and Dustin sneak into the movie. You watched the late showing, so the mall was closing up once the movie was over. You walked with Dustin back over to Scoops Ahoy, talking about the movie the whole way.

Steve was pulling the metal gate down as you and Dustin walked up. "Hey babe" he said to you, wrapping his arms around your waist. "Hi" you said with a smile as you wrapped your arms around his neck and leaned in to kiss him.

"What did I say about the PDA?" you pulled away with a laugh. "Oh my gosh, Dustin, you are so dramatic. It's not like we're making out or something"

"We could though" Steve said in a low, teasing voice as he slowly leaned in. You played along with his joke, bringing your hands up to cradle his face as you leaned in too. You met him in the middle, pretending to messily make out with him.

"Gross!" you pulled away while you and Steve laughed hysterically. "Just remember, the sexually active teens are always the first to die in horror movies!" you scoffed. "The last two years of our lives have been a horror movie, and if that trope were true, I would have died a long time ago" Dustin fake gagged at your words.

You interlaced your fingers with Steve's before the three of you started walking toward the front doors of the mall. "Just don't come crying to me when Freddy Krueger takes you both out!" Dustin held his hands out like he had claws. He pretended to cut you up as he made a growling noise. You laughed before using your free hand to pretend you were spouting blood out of the pretend wounds in your chest.

"Oh no! Steve! Save yourself..." you leaned most of your weight onto Steve's side as you sank down towards the floor. He sighed deeply as he practically held you up. You stood back up as you made it to the front door.

"That's my moms car" Dustin pointed to one of the few cars that were left in the parking lot. "I'll see you guys later. Keep one eye open tonight for Freddy!" Dustin wiggled his fingers at the two of you before turning and walking towards his moms car. “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you! Three, four, better lock your door!” Dustin sang as he walked away. “Shut up you little shit!” Steve yelled after him. “Five, six, grab your crucifix!” Dustin continued to sing as he turned and walked backwards. “Seven, eight, gonna stay up late! Nine, ten, never sleep again!” Dustin doubled over in laughter at the look of annoyance on Steve’s face.

You only shook your head with a laugh as you and Steve walked toward his car. He let go of your hand to open the passenger side door for you. You said a quiet thank you before sliding into his car. He walked around before getting in the drivers side.

"So... You wanna spend the night? Or I could spend the night at your place?" Steve only shrugged as he started the car. "What's wrong? Did Dustin get thoughts of Freddy Krueger in your head?" you joked as you reached out and tickled him gently, doing the claw hands that Dustin had done earlier. "No, I'm just tired" you frowned. You could tell something else was going on with him, but you didn't want to push him considering he already seemed annoyed.

"We can just go back to my place and go to bed. It is kinda late" Steve nodded in agreement before pulling out of the parking spot. Once you got to your house, you managed to sneak him in through your window. You kept the door to your room locked, just incase your parents decided to try and barge in.

You both changed into pajamas before climbing into your bed. Steve pulled the blanket over the two of you. He held you close to him, his body heat warming you up after being outside in the cold, night air. "I promise I'm not going anywhere" you whispered when you felt Steve trying to pull you even closer. "I know" he whispered back. "Freddy isn't gonna come get me" you said with a quiet chuckle. You frowned when he didn't react or respond. You craned your neck to place a kiss to his jaw. "I'll be right here when you wake up. I love you" you whispered. "I love you too. Goodnight baby" he whispered back before kissing the top of your head.

Steve didn't really believe you would actually be swallowed up by the bed before the two of you woke, but he couldn't help but admire your sleeping face for a little longer than be usually did, as if he wouldn't get another chance to. He knew he was being a little bit dramatic, but he couldn't help it. He just loved you so much, and he knew that at any moment a monster from a different dimension could come and snatch you up. Steve stayed over the next few nights in a row that week, not wanting to leave you alone.

The following Friday, the kids wanted to have a movie night. Your house was the best to hang out at, so that Friday night, all of the kids were gathered on the floor of your living room. They argued over which movie to watch as you walked in with a bowl of popcorn and a grocery bag full of various candies.

You handed the bowl of popcorn to Will, who was sitting in the recliner to the right of your couch. The rest of the kids were sprawled out on the floor in front of your TV, leaving the couch for you and Steve. You had laid out many blankets, and thrown down a multitude of pillows for the kids to lay on. You made one last trip to the kitchen, bringing back some bags of chips and another small bowl of popcorn.

You placed the bags of chips on the ground next to the kids before stepping over them to get to the couch. Steve was laid back against a pillow that he had rested against the armrest of the couch. He was laying down, basically taking up the entire couch. He held the blanket up that previously covered him, opening his arms for you to lay with him.

You laid down with your back against his chest. He brought his arm down to cover the two of you with the blanket while also wrapping his arm around your middle and holding you close. He used his other hand to reach out and take a piece of popcorn from the bowl you were holding.

The kids were still arguing over what movie they wanted to watch, and you were staring to get annoyed. "Will! Pick a movie" all the kids (except Will) groaned in annoyance. "Either he picks or I do. I'm sick of you guys arguing. So, Will?" you turned to look at him. "Poltergeist?" he suggested hesitantly.

"Great choice! Put it in the VCR, and I don't want to hear any complaints" you said before leaning back, getting comfortable. "You comfortable baby?" you asked Steve quietly, noticing he had tensed up. "Yeah. I-I'm alright"

“You sure?”

“I’m sure” you sighed as you laid your head back against his chest, and Steve placed a kiss on the top of your head. Everyone got quiet as the movie began to play.

You could feel yourself dozing off, your eyelids heavy as you fought to keep them open. You had already seen poltergeist, so none of the scares actually got you. Towards the end of the movie, there was a scarier scene playing. You could feel Steve tense up underneath you, and his grip on you tightened. Before you could turn and ask him what was wrong, he began to push you off him. "Gotta go to the bathroom" he said quickly as he crawled out from underneath you.

You plopped back down on the couch as you watched Steve stumble over the kids on the floor before walking down the hall to the bathroom. You thought Steve had been acting weird, but this confirmed your suspicions.

You waited a few minutes for him to come back. A few more minutes passed before you decided to go check on him. You stood up and stepped over the kids, walking quickly down the hall to the bathroom door. You could hear the kids whispering and giggling as you walked away. You rolled you eyes at them as you made it to the bathroom door. You stood there for a moment just listening before you lifted a fist up and knocked softly.

"Steve? Is everything alright?" you asked him through the door. "I'm fine" you heard his muffled reply. "Steve, you know you can talk to me about anything, right? Whatever is going on, I'm always here to listen" you tried to reassure him.

There was a long pause before he spoke again. "Promise you won't laugh?" you nodded even though he couldn't see you. "I promise"

The door opened and suddenly Steve was pulling you into the bathroom with him. He shut the door behind you before leaning back against the sink. He ran a hand through his hair before he crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at his feet to avoid your gaze. "Steve?" you reached out and gently gripped his chin, lifting his face up so you could look into those deep brown eyes you loved so much. You could see the sadness and insecurity and it made your heart break. "What's going on? Talk to me" you brought your hand up from his chin to cup his cheek, rubbing your thumb across his skin softly.

He leaned into your touch with a content sigh. He shut his eyes as you continued to rub your thumb across his cheek comfortingly. "I have an embarrassing confession to make..." you stayed quiet, urging him to continue. "Horror movie scare the shit out of me and I hate watching them" he said quickly, keeping his eyes squeezed shut.

"Steve... why did you think I'd laugh at you for that?" you asked softly. He shrugged as he opened his eyes. "Robin laughed" he said sadly. "That's because Robin is a punk who likes to tease you"

"You don't think that it's ridiculous and childish that I'm scared of horror movies?" he questioned you. "Of course not, baby. Horror movies aren't for everyone, and that's alright. It's like how not everyone likes si-fi but I for one love Star Wars" you could feel Steve relaxing under your touch and your reassuring words. "It's just that we've dealt with so much scary shit in our real lives, that I don't want to have to watch more shit about monsters that come and kill you in the night" you nodded. "I understand, Steve. Let's just hang out in my room until the movie is over. If the shitheads are even still awake, you can pick the next movie" you said before leaning in and kissing his lips quick.

You let your hand fall from his face as you turned to open the bathroom door. Steve reached out and grabbed your hand, stopping you. You turned to face him with furrowed brows. "Thank you" he said before you could speak. "For what?" you questioned him. "For being there for me. I was being kind of a dick by just pushing you away, and I'm sorry-" you held up your pointer finger to shush him. "You don't need to thank me or apologize for anything. What are girlfriends for? I'm always going to be there for you, Steve. I love you"

You felt your heart swell at the way his cheeks turned a light pink. "I love you too" he began to lean in and you happily met him in the middle, pressing your lips to his in a sweet kiss. "We've been gone so long that the kids probably think we're in here making out or something" you said with a chuckle as you pulled away. "I mean we could..." Steve said teasingly as he leaned in. You laughed as you pushed him back before pulling open the door.

You turned and ran down the hallway towards your room. Steve was close behind, catching up to you as you made it to your bedroom door. He wrapped his arms around your middle and lifted you up. You broke out in a fit of laughter as he kicked open your door. He carried you into your room before tossing you onto your bed.

"Now they're really going to think we're doing something" you said as you laid back on your bed. "Let them think" Steve waved his hand dismissively as he leaned over you. He leaned down and kissed you quick. "Can't we just stay here?" he asked as he fell down onto your bed, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you close. Your faces are only inches apart as you wrapped your arms around his neck. "I mean I don't see why not. I'm sure the little shits down the hall definitely won't come snooping soon" you said sarcastically. Steve laughed as he shook his head. "I guess you're right"

Steve stood up before picking you up bridal style. He carried you down the hall and back into the living room. He ignored the stares from Dustin, Mike, and Lucas as he carried you over to the couch. The two of you cuddled back up on the couch, and you noticed the credits were rolling as you finally got comfortable.

The kids immediately began to argue again over what movie to watch next. "Max, put in A New Hope" you said over the rest of them. Max nodded before getting up and putting the tape in the VCR.

Eventually everyone settled back down as the movie began to play. You turned your head to kiss Steve on the cheek. "This movie is better than poltergeist anyway" you whispered to him, and you felt his chest rumble with laughter underneath you.

i'll start from the very beginning, of course. and oh, do a lot of things make me unwell here.

charon

first of all, is the way winston was expecting that gun to stay on him. he was, if reason failed, ready to "such is life" his way to the grave. he does in fact tell charon, as they enter the office, that he shouldn't be here for this, that he shouldn't watch him get executed for his mistakes. but charon, of course, stays, bless his soul and his loyalty and everything about him (but i'll get to him on the multi, let's not digress).

the point here is: he doesn't let him fall. he goes down with him. he cradles his head!!! it's an awfully intimate and caring gesture. in the movie he kneels down after, when the marquis is leaving (it makes sense why, logistically). and don't get me wrong, i love that version too. winston staying still until the very last moment, not baring (almost) any reaction. but there's something so gentle about the script version that has such a grip on me. he keeps holding him, he takes his hand and tells him to rest. openly calls him friend, too. it gives me the impression that i'm intruding on something very private here, almost as if i should be looking the other way.

and here it is. the hotel is one thing.. still a blow, still hits right to the heart, to the very core of who he is, but charon? charon is unforgivable. in killing him to supposedly teach him a lesson the marquis has signed his own death. of course he can't kill him directly, he's smarter than that, but he will find a way (and he will indeed).

bastard on bastard violence, my beloved. winston walked so neil josten and his legendary "Pity only gets you so many concessions, and you used yours up about six insults ago. So please, please, just shut the fuck up and leave us alone.” speech to a mafia adjacent person could run. neil is half british, winston is half scottish (in my portrayal).. maybe it's the european part in them.

this is almost word for word in the movie, but why is it so much cuntier on page?

yes, winston is smart. yes, he plans ahead. but this little, crucial detail, slipped away from him. i think that, ideally, winston would keep himself off from the line of fire, from exposing himself to such a risk. i love this, so much: he doesn't know everything, he can't possibly account for every single variable there is.

and the same thing could be said for the rooftop scene in parabellum. i've seen people theorize that he knew exactly where john would fall so he wouldn't die. and i.. personally don't agree with that. it takes away the fact, painful as it is, that john's survival was not his end goal there. a nice strike of luck, surely, since he didn't want john dead, but that was also not the point. his main objective was to not have the hotel and everything else that comes with it stripped from him. and with it, a chance, at least that, of john living to see another day. but not a certainty. and it does work well for him in the end, albeit temporarily: the abjudicator has seen him shoot. not once, not twice, but five times (yes, i counted them, leave me alone). so even if john walks away, she can't say winston didn't try to kill him. she doesn't believe him, i do think, but she has no choice but to walk away.

if you listen really well, you can hear me chew on forniture. this truly is the culmination of their almost but not quite father-son relationship (also no, i don't think they're actually father and son. or blood related in any other way). the fact that winston only ever refers to john as "son" at his grave, when john can't possibly hear him, after having buried him, much like a father would, is so tragically beautiful to me. and it leads me to believe that 1) he might not have wanted it between them, spoken out loud, not wishing to become another rope around john's neck, yet another thing between him and freedom. sure, he helped him along the way, best he could. he was — and the continental as a whole — i think, a stable and fixed point in his life, someone and somewhere he could always turn to. 2) he possibly also didn't see it that way until then, not so surely at least to admit to it. to empty air and a gravestone, but still.

what inspires your writing?

oh this is such a nice question, anon! thanks for sending!

honestly I don't have a straight answer to this. but a lot of my fics give ideas to even more fics or nuanced strands of ideas i can explore. or usually it coincides with what topic I am researching into at the moment - "research" in quotes because it's just more of lots of Googling and collecting information in a notion page lmao. for example, my recent fic with trystan being this person who relies on trickery to get by, was supposed to be a nod to Veles, essentially the trickster god in Slavic mythology - especially because (i'm taking this from wikipedia for a more simpler definition):

According to reconstruction by some researchers, he is the opponent of the supreme thunder god Perun. As such he probably has been imagined as a dragon, which in the belief of the pagan Slavs is a chimeric being resembling a cross between a bear and a snake that devours livestock.

(did i just see snake, dragons and go "yoooo drakovia"? yes. jk but I have been looking into Veles/Volos's story for quite sometime; blame the mythology hyperfixation that pops up every now and then)

but then the reference never made it in because I just couldn't put it into words. however trystan being a magician-adjacent person has been living rent-free in my head. i dont know, i guess I have a special likeness to 'pathetic clowns who can do magic' trope.

some of my fics have been inspired by songs or films - generally other media. chosen family is, yes, a rina sawayama song. meeting at a crosswalk was inspired by the Beatles's abbey road album art - I was listening to a lot of Beatles. I also never really got over my 'past lives' obsession, with have we met before? and exploring the concept of In-Yun as described in the movie (i don't explain it in the fic, but it draws a lot of inspiration; i remember watching THAT BAR SCENE and just babbling incoherently). fourth wall has a very similar energy to that one 'into the spiderverse' scene where miles and peter b. parker are chased across town.

so i just borrow the 'vibes' if I can call it that from what i see around, but the stuff i build on it is purely dependent on what i'm feeling like at that moment or what works best. (sidebar: i love love talking about my writing process lmao, it's the most chaotic thing ever and brings me so much despair but I just love it for what it is)

so yes, specific vibes; specific themes and whatever goes on top, does. which is why my fics are just so specific lmao. like it is this one specific sliver of emotion which is lost in, what I'd call, a salad bowl of a mess. Believe me I have tried writing from a general standpoint; trying to use writing prompts to help me out but then, it spirals into this specific madness that I can never crawl out of. it's become an integral part and I don't think it is going anytime soon lmao.

But, he's the huge mom friend, which is also why he's so good at what he does if you ask me. I think he's the better liar because he will admit he's lying... And still will make you forget he is. But yeah, I haven't yet played with a character who wouldn't save the Chargers, and so he could go and live his best life free of being the biggest mother hen ever.

Favorite moment: He brought Dorian's handkerchief for him because he knows he would have forgotten. Big mother hen. No, also the way he just looks at Krem after his personal mission and just... "Never mind, you're doing fine". Basically, whenever he lets himself show he's a big big softie. Also him carrying Sera on his shoulders in battle, yelling "Mayhem!".

Idea for a story: As for Dorian, I'd love love love to write, sooner or later, some expansion of this ficlet and expand that dynamic. I'd also seriously love to read something about him and Krem learning to work together. Some Chargers origin story.

Unpopular opinion: Again, he's another character who doesn't betray you, in my opinion. Even if you sacrifice the Chargers, in Trespasser... He told you from the start he was a spy working for the Qun, right? He was always very open about him being Ben Hassrath, Gatt told you he was called "Liar". You know he lies. As much as you know that Varric lies. Bull's just better at making you forget but... Is it really a betrayal if you were told whose side he was really on from the start? If you were really told he never liked the Tal Vashoth as a concept, if you ask him about Seheron? Not a betrayal, you just forget he was never on your side, if you cut away the one reason he had to change his loyalties (yes I'm including if he's in a romance with either the Inquisitor or Dorian. I like his character so much because a romance is not enough to make him change his mind and become something he clearly say he hates. His men, the life he build for himself, relationships he grew in years are, and if you take that away... He may call you Kadan, you're still just one person and love is not enough on its own.)

Favorite relationship: Him and the Chargers, hands down. They were collectively his way to express himself and find himself and heal after the Horrors, and he's just... I don't know you can see he struggles to give back what he got and it's just so precious.

Favorite headcanon: Plus size, soft bellied Bull still lives rent free in my head. As above, Bull the mama hen taking care of the inner circle. I also still remember Bull the HR manager in Skyhold that @shivunin devised and I had to draw and... Yes.

Elrond:

First impression: I remember I was suspicious of him at first because I already saw the Matrix, and he was the villain, so at 9 I thought that he must have been evil there too. xD

Impression now: I have distinct opinions on book and movie Elrond. I love the first trilogy dearly, but amongst the choices they did I like less and less, the "Let's make Elrond a helicopter dad" is the one that leaves me MEH. But that's on me, the "star-crossed lovers" is a trope that I have extremely little patience for. Still the way he just looks at Aragorn in Minas Tirith, moved and in happy tears... Aaaaaw. I love him I LOVE HIM. and I love how he was written in Rings of Power, give me more Elrond content please, he has so much to give as a character, think of what he has seen!

Favorite moment: The patience and restraint he showed in not kicking Isildur in the volcano with a vengeance. Respect, bro, I would have tossed the jock right into cursing his name and calling him for the asshole that he is. And in Rings of Power, the heart-to-heart talks he has with Durin.

Idea for a story: More Elrond being the weird uncle for Durin and Disa's children. More Elrond dealin with three children on his own. More Elrond and Elros dealing with what the fuck happened to his parents Oh ok now mom is a seagull that's... fine.

Unpopular opinion: I like a lot how he was portrayed in Rings of Power. Yes included his haircut, let him have his Patrick Schwayze phase.

Favorite relationship: Him and Arwen and him and Durin.

Favorite headcanon: We all know he's a big softie when it comes to his children, right? And to children in general. I picture Elladan, Elrohir and Arwen doing shenanigans when they were little, and him... Just sighing and telling them to go to their room, totally unable to even go as far as grounding them. Arwen looked at him with those big blue eyes and he just... Couldn't do anything else.

Tom Bombadil:

First impression: Hey dol, Merry dol! / Ring a dong dillo 🎶 I think I wasn't really understanding what was going on, but I was 9 and I enjoyed the little shenanigan with this weird person who had a wife he loved and sung a catchy song. I didn't question him that much.

Impression now: Still as above, I like him being there, just to show the Hobbits that the world isn't all dark and evil, there is something good to fight for. LOTR is about hope and finding hope when everything around you is dark, and he just does that. If you just go with the flow and don't question him much, take him as just "a quirk", there are some lovely descriptions to be found and a lovely, lovely way to see nature. (which again, is such an important theme in Tolkien's work!)

Favorite moment: That fucking catchy song stays in my head for LONG. Right now I'm humming it. Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo! 🎶

Idea for a story: A meeting between him and the Ents. Which will be... 1000 pages of nothing at all. But come on. It'll be fun.

Unpopular opinion: As above, he's not evil incarnate and pointless in the story. He's a moment of breath with the purpose to remember that the world isn't all scary and that there is some mystery to behold, that doesn't require an explanation, that would make everything worse if he was explained.. There's good and there's light... And there's always something to look at in wonder in the world.

Favorite relationship: He and Goldberry are the ultimate couple.

Favorite headcanon: I think I read somewhere a theory according to whom he's really a Valar? I think he was Aule and Goldberry Yavanna in disguise? Well, Tom Bombadil a Valar is an headcanon I stan. I don't remember where I read it or if my brain made it up right now, but still. (... I could keep the idea for my fic tho. MMMMMH.)

Another Arthurian concept, we have now Sir Galahad - just like everyone else, with his trusty sword and little "titles" I gave him. Pure of heart and youngest of all seem to fit him nicely :)

Everything about him is constant and reliable - hence so many rectangular and square shapes - but he is very soft as well, very emotional and understanding - so we also have round shapes and edges are pretty much rounded.

And I guess it's pretty clear he's a catholic/christian (hello, yes, I was raised in the religion and TO THIS DAY I still go like "is this catholic? is this christian? it's pretty much the same to me *puts on clown makeup*)

Also, very sober look and sober colours that contrast with how young he looks. Little scar on his face because, you know, not even the most perfect of beings are 100% perfect, it's a little reminder he also has his flaws.

And, of course, upon testing the layers, we have dear Galahad in the church, lit up by some vitrals:

His design is purple, because it compliments Lancelot's blue. Alsoooo, they look very much alike, right? Well, that has a lot to do on my view and my Arthurian world, so let's get to it!

First obstacle I got was "Oooooh Galahad is Lancelot's son in a LOT of accounts and most of the early texts as far as I remember".

But the idea and approach I have to Arthurian legend is a lot more on what I call ~realistic~. Not a 100% though, because if you do not believe in magic and the power of new and old gods, you wouldn't think of my version as realistic.

Personally, I enjoy very much the portrayal of Hugh Dancy on the 2005 movie (as you guys know, that Lancelot lives rent free in my head, 24/7, the bastard), and recently I really enjoyed Bernard Cornwell's characterization of Galahad - so when it comes to my approach, I like leaning a lot more to that one because, personally, it makes Galahad looks much more human.

Like I said, I was born and raised in catholic faith. I went to a catholic school, knew and still know all the church songs by heart, have thousands of crucifixes, rosaries, medals of saints and images of saints laying around. To this day, I still go with my mom to church wehenever she wants to and I do enjoy churches - they feel very soothing to me, even if my faith has changed.

This disclaimer matters, trust me HAHAHAHA

All that to say, the guilt is real. With literally everything. And when I started rebelling against the faith I was taught since I was born, gotta be honest, watching that scene in King Arthur where a priest tortures people because they were pagans and says it's God's will and Lancelot just turns at him and screams savagely "NOT MY GOD!!!!" I was

And I only went downhill with this man from there Lancelot was the death of my christian/catholic faith

Ok, ok, why does this matters when it comes to Galahad?

Well, usually, he's Lancelot's son. And/or he is this absurdly freaking perfect young man, the peak Knight in shiny armour. But that doesn't really work for me - I like having something more grounded in a grittier side of history, something more ~dark fantasy~, because we all know medieval times weren't pretty.

All those perfect Knights with pristine behaviours and morals, to me, feel too much like the Bible I grew up with - not real history with real people.

Enter Bernard Cornwell's Galahad. He's Lancelot's cousin and, in Cornwell's books, Lancelot is FUCKING INSUFFERABLE. I am looking SO FORWARD to have this man dead, because he is vile, narcisistic and a lying bastard. Galahad, in the other hand, quite despises his cousin for that. They are different sides of the same coin.

(Another disclaimer: I'm not watching The Winter King TV series 'cause they have NOTHING to do with the book and I am MAD about it, so definitely not based on that)

And what I love MOST about him: he found some balance between his faith and his human condition. He is a Knight, he kills and is pretty good at it, he doesn't shy away from battle and bloodbath. And then he prays to God and asks for forgiveness for his actions, knowing, someday, he will die himself and maybe God will allow him to enter Heaven.

He won't stop living his very human emotions to be this naïve saint walking on earth - quite the contrary, he's strong and feared in battle, and can be pretty much of a little bitch taunting people.

There's where I stand with my Galahad, then. I wanted him to be the youngest, to have this sort of naïve look to him - as well as that skinny constitution and more of a confident but reserved behaviour (quite different than Lancelot, who's posing proudly with his sword and smirking like the sassy bitch he is).

He's still learning things, so his hands are a little softer than others. Nevertheless, he already has a scar on his face, showing he's not that naïve. Galahad is pure of heart and cannot understand evil - he understands it logically but never emotionally - but he isn't a perfect naïve sweet summer child. If Arthur tells him to go and kill, he will do it.

And probably pray later.

That's why here he has the same hair as Lancelot - curly and dark, but a little shorter and more tamed - they are cousins. His eyes are more rounded, his face more oval to indicate he's still young and has a lot of good in him. His purple compliments Lancelot's blues, but his cape is a lot heavier and less flowy and dramy than his cousin's.

He has crucifixes everywhere to indicate his unweavering faith in God - even his sword looks like a crucifix. His clothes are sober in colour, but still regal with the purple, given he is a prince. I looked at some priests clothing to take some aspects of that and work on his armour - so we have things like a high button up, probably thick leather vest with a more off-white/lavender collar... Like a priest.

Not so many details and all that because of his personality: given his faith, Galahad does his best to rely on practicality of a chain and leather armour, sober colours to move around the dark settings of Britain and crucifixes to remind him he's supported by God. After all, not all of faith is just giving love, it's also receiving that love - and, in Galahad's point of view, he can feel and see God in the little things that happen to him every day.

All that faith is important to his character because he's the one that goes after the Holy Grail and succeeds, as far as I've read, something Lancelot didn't manage to do. Since I'm not much into ALL that catholic/christian religion thing, because I do think it outshines all the potential the characters have together and I have a personal beef with it, I think a man at that time who could find the balance between faith and life, without falling in cult behaviour and hysteria, honestly trying his best to live according to those values as far as his flawed human existance allowed him... That is the Holy Grail in itself.

Now, I do enjoy the concept of Galahad and Lancelot being different sides of the same coin, so ooooooooh yes, they have so much potential for philosophical and existential discussions, with Galahad always thinking about the salvation of the soul and trying to put some sense in his cousin's head and make him a better person, and Lancelot just indulging in whatever and dismissing everything he says with a good laugh - that is, when he is not in a bad mood and Lancelot just spits all the horrible things people do in the name of Galahad's God and honestly, there's no reasoning with him when he's like that.

They always end up having a drink together, in silence, thinking about everything they have talked about. Galahad does think Lancelot has a point in there and seriously questions people regarding their morals when it comes to their putrid behaviour in the name of God. And Lancelot knows deep down Galahad's words about him are drenched in truth, even if he doesn't have the same faith: he cannot deny he has too many flaws and too many behaviours that, sometimes, are questionable even to those who don't think they'll burn in Hell.

I did draw a little thing I need to find, with the Knights dining and laughing while teasing Galahad about his upstanding behaviour and not wanting to bed a woman every night they had the oportunity, while he's just "Well, there are things in this world more important than fleeting pleasures. At least I am worrying about my soul. You, in the other hand, are all going to Hell." and of course, he says that with the most content smile in the world, teasing them back. All Knights and Arthur fall silent, thinking about his words. Until Lancelot just side-eyes his cousin and "Are the women from Hell beautiful?" - everyone breaks in laughter and Galahad just smiles with a 'you're hopeless' plastered on his forehead.

That's pretty much how they all work in a nutshell. Big questions, big philosphizing around faiths and morals, big doubts and existential dread. But a lot of teasing and jokes, bloody fields and battle rushes, big feelings and an unbreakable companionship based in loyalty.

Even if he is a very level-headed man, very literate, confident, young, passionate and restrained in his expressions of his emotions out of combat, Galahad is still very pure of heart - Lancelot would never say it in front of him, but he believes you can always find a hint of hope and love in his cousin's eyes.

If that is God or not, well, that's up to you to decide.

So, the curse is that if you hurt an innocent your strength is taken away, right? Why didn't she lose her strength when she broke Secretary Gong's tailbone, or broke Ahn Minhyuk's toe? Neither of those people had done anything wrong.

And now she's got her strength back because she wants to save Ahn Minhyuk. Which is great. I am a big fan of both of them not being blown up. But at any point has there been a 'if you then want to use your strength to save someone you get it back' mention? Is she just special because she's the main character?

I'm sorry I swear I'm not usually one of those 'a drama should be super realistic' people but the bomb she threw into the air just somehow turned into fireworks

But on the plus side there's still two episodes left and she has her strength back now so she gets to kick that dude's ass on equal terms. Well, not even equal. He's just a regular dude and she will squish him.
