This has been something I've been working on for quite a while now, as some people who look at my insta story might know, but I'm finally done!! those text messages from s14ep5 are so unhinged, they haunt me every goddamn day. Why is Hera so hostile to Leto in a manner that she isn't with the other lovers of Zeus? I can't think of any other woman who was targeted so much by Hera. One could say she didn't want Leto to give birth because her children would be a competition to Hera's children, but why bother her even after she had already given birth? Is it because Leto herself is also a threat to Hera?

I don't think Leto would ever be a threat to Hera's role as the queen of the gods but Hera might see her as a competitor for Zeus' affection, even though I think Zeus would not marry someone else and replace Hera.

The twins are definitely a big reason why Hera begrudged Leto - it is outright stated in the Callimachus Hymn to Delos that the reason Hera especially targeted Leto was because she was told that Apollo would be dearer to Zeus than Ares is. Zeus is very proud of Artemis as well. As he himself puts it, he doesn't mind facing Hera's wrath for children like her.

But the continued hatred even after the birth of the twins (like sending Tityus to rape Leto) could have been for different reasons. This wasn't like one of those affairs Zeus would have with mortal women where he'd leave them behind once the child is conceived. Neither could Hera, despite her many attempts, get rid of Leto like she did with the other lovers. Not only did Leto give Zeus children that he loves dearly, she also stayed on Olympus despite Hera's hatred towards her (which isn't directed to any of Zeus' other divine mistresses, btw). It might have also been because Leto herself is dear to Zeus, if the way she's treated on Olympus is any proof. In the Homeric hymn to Apollo, Leto stands next to Zeus - in the Olympian assembly - to welcome their son. Hera is completely absent from the scene, as if Leto had taken her place even if temporarily. Now you could say this is because Apollo himself is such a powerful and glorious son in a way that no other son of Zeus is, so of course Leto would get such an honor (the hymn itself presents it this way).

But here's another instance - in the Iliad, when Hera goes to seduce Zeus, he is obviously very smitten but before getting into the action, he lists some of his lovers (I believe these were his favorite lovers, as a lot of others are not mentioned):

"for never has such desire for goddess or mortal woman so gripped and overwhelmed my heart, not even when I was seized by love for Ixion’s wife, who gave birth to Peirithous the gods’ rival in wisdom; or for Acrisius’ daughter, slim-ankled Danaë, who bore Perseus, greatest of warriors; or for the far-famed daughter of Phoenix, who gave me Minos and godlike Rhadamanthus; or for Semele mother of Dionysus, who brings men joy; or for Alcmene at Thebes, whose son was lion-hearted Heracles; or for Demeter of the lovely tresses; or for glorious Leto; or even for you yourself, as this love and sweet desire for you grips me now.’ (Book 14, trans. A. T. Murray)

Notice how when talking about most of them, he also mentions the children they bore to him but when Demeter and Leto are mentioned, he doesn't bring up their children at all despite them being some of the most accomplished kids of his. What's more, he takes Leto's name just before Hera's. I mean, this is an interpretation but it looks like not only did Zeus love Leto the most out of all his mistresses - giving her a place second to that of his wife, but also his love for her wasn't necessarily only because she gave him two amazing children.

Nonnus does something similar in the Dionysiaca (but this time Zeus is enamored with Persephone instead of Hera) but more notably, when Typhoeus attacks Olympus and Zeus is discouraged, Nike takes the form of Leto to encourage him and it's pretty telling of what Leto meant to Zeus.

One interesting similarity between Hera and Leto is that they both had a giant try to rape them. Porphyrion tried to violate Hera (Zeus inspired him to do this) and Tityus tried to violate Leto (upon Hera's order). Though both of them were killed, only Tityus got an eternal punishment in Tartarus of having his liver/heart eaten out by vultures so Zeus seems to have taken a greater offense at Tityus trying to assault Leto.

Again, I don't think Zeus would ever take anyone other than Hera as his permanent wife - she is irreplaceable to him. There's an entire myth about Hera leaving him and Zeus winning her back. Their relationship is obviously complex and involves all kinds of emotions including love and hate. But Leto is continually dear to him as well and that's something Hera can't do much about.

i think we also need more compassion for those of us with higher support needs who have difficulties communicating and understanding things, with or without an intellectual disability. i get made fun of a lot for not having “proper” communication abilities that “match” my age and for not understanding “obvious” concepts/jokes that to me were not obvious at all. please have kindness for autistics who have difficulty with things you don’t. even if you are also autistic.

people trying to say that trans/nonbinary representation in veilguard is the worst thing thats happened to the trans community in the last half a year (im exaggerating here but u get my point) need to sit down and ask themselves a couple of questions.

1. Are you nonbinary? If not, do you know someone who is? Have you talked to them about their experiences and what its like to not fit into the strict gender binary that permeates our society on almost every level?

2. Do you think that your experiences are universal?

if you answer no and yes in that order, then i'm going to have to ask you to please put the keyboard aside and go do some self-reflection.

Because frankly. I'm kind of starting to get sick of seeing binary people try to talk about this while completely not understanding the experience and also thinking that their personal perspective is the only true and correct one.

Like, the amount of times ive seen people COMPLETELY misinterpret the scene with Taash and Neve talking in the dining room is ridiculous.

Backlog #1 - Dine & Gash Started writing a new oc world back in December that featured these two as the main characters; Gash (Fork) and Iselda (Spoon). They wield the original fork/spoon of Gluttony as weapons (Named Lady/Lord respectively). Details are pretty loose but its these two partnering up and dealing with monsters that are messing up the mortal realm and then the two of them are sent to subdue these monsters but also end up cooking them and turning them into dishes to review (monster hunting + food reviews; what a strange combo) First Image is the most recent drawing of them from early February, the rest are older versions!

I need Kremy to be forced to look at his actions and be unable to justify them, and then the guilt and horror that follows that. He likes to present himself as soooo morally corrupt and in some ways he is, but he isn't evil. He wants you to think that so bad because being uncaring is how people get rich and famous, but he doesnt know (or perhaps won't admit) that uncaring people dont have to go through the loops of logic he does.

(Spoilers beyond (mostly season one but a little season 2))

He blatantly ignores Torbek because he has to. If he acknowledges him or his pain he has to acknowledge that shit was his fault. He handed a weird but mostly innocent man over to the hags, for why? They gave him a little bit of reason, and he didn't know what the outcome would be, so its fine. But he does know what happened now. So torbek has to be lying, or else Kremy condemned a man who had been nothing but kind to him to 5+ years of torture, for convenience.

Mind you, his literal best friend escaped a not dissimilar situation, as Gideon himself pointed out. Surely Kremy doesn't think Gideon's trauma is fake or inconsequential. So Kremy doesn't really think Torbek is lying or exaggerating, he just can't admit that or else he has to feel bad. And the wealthy don't feel bad.

So I think this season he's going to legitimately crash out. The little confrontation he and Torbek had was a bit of a start, but I think the only way his arc goes any further is if he is confronted in a way he cant escape. And then he's going to break and reveal the person who lives underneath the mask of Kremy Lecroux. And that person hasn't seen the light of day in 20+ years

Realizing that in the 7 months I’ve been obsessed with Mizurui I’ve literally not once said that Mizuki and Rui love each other is still fucking with me… truly I had no clue I was doing that but damn yeah that is true to me. “Love” just feels inapplicable to my conceptualization of Mizurui…. In a romantic sense but honestly even platonically too I can’t imagine my idea of them considering themselves in love with the other. It’s like. It’s care. It’s familiarity. It’s every synonym under the sun, sure. But love is too heavy, and too sweet…..

Maybe Rui -> Mizuki. Unrequited in depth rather than at all is really fun actually. If they were in a relationship and Rui tried to say he loves her I think Mizuki would put her hands over his mouth to stop him. And pretend he didn’t even attempt to say anything. Man, given Rui’s propensity for being last to realize his own feelings, Mizuki would see the writing on the wall and turn a blind eye for as long as she can. Him loving her is like a grand fear of hers, he has his own life, he has his own friends, He Should Be Happy With Someone He Has More In Common With Than Being Lonely. “I love you ^_^” “I know :|” type shit lol

Started watching the Bayverse movies with my besties and... Are we just too gay for these movies??? Admittedly we only finished the first two and got through a quarter of the third, but the second one was such a drag to sit through at times and it probably doesn't help that we do NOT care about Sam that much. I hope that there is a character arc for him in the rest of the third movie. Because so far he has not been fun to watch in that one. He just comes off as a slight manchild to me, like... I can see why he would be frustrated with where he is in life but the way he acts with others and lashes out does not help him in the slightest. I do have to admit though that seeing him go to Cybertronian Heaven in the second movie was the funniest part for me and my besties lol.

I'll just hope that the other guy in the next movies will be at least a bit more interesting. Doesn't even have to be a good guy, just an interesting guy for me lol
