Blogging platforms simplified the process. They offered user-friendly interfaces and customizable designs. Writers found new ways to express themselves. Readers gained access to diverse perspectives. The world of blogging grew rapidly, expanding the reach of personal stories.
Blogging In The Social Media Age
Social media changed how we interact with content. It made sharing instant and widespread. Bloggers adapted to this new environment. Integrating social media into their strategy became essential. They started using platforms like Facebook and Twitter to promote their work. This increased visibility and engagement.
Social media also influenced the style of blogging. Posts became shorter, more direct. Visual content gained importance. Bloggers incorporated images and videos to capture attention. Social media platforms encouraged real-time interaction. This allowed bloggers to connect with their audience on a deeper level.

something about smoke being rejected since childhood because everyone was certain his father's evil lived on in him. something about annie being the only one to call smoke 'elijah' and how that makes him soften. something about how just before they're truly reunited, annie says 'i dont want any of that smoke on the baby'. something about annie being the one who sets smoke free from his past and his sins and lets him be human instead.

Two Peas in a Pod: part 4/?
Hopefully the dialog isn't confusing.
______________________________
"Still dizzy?"
"Not really," Jazz answered with a comfortable smile, though stole a quick glance over to the gate. The first since Blaster had arrived for the morning routine. The other mer wasn't awake yet last he saw, but he was shifting more. The medication had obviously long worn off by now, but Jazz still hoped they weren't in too much pain.
But Blaster noticed and it prompted him to pause his checks to ask, "did he wake up last night?"
"Kinda? He could have been talking in his sleep though."
"Hm, there's a good chance he'll be up soon, then."
Jazz's expression of his usual cheerfulness shifted, just slightly and if it had been anyone other than Blaster, they would have missed it. He flipped the clipboard over in his lap and rested his elbows against his crossed legs.
"You're nervous," Blaster pointed out gently and gave Jazz an encouraging smile. "Is this about their injuries, or is this about making a friend?"
The mer's face soured and he looked away. "I thought I wasn't supposed to ask."
"That was about the gate, and I'm sorry about that." It was just the two of them on the pier, but Blaster still practised a surveying sweep of the area with what looked like stretching. Then with a lower voice, he continued, "The Vet Chief wanted to fully isolate them from you, to keep them in a transfer-crate, at least until the injuries had a low risk of reopening. I argued that it would put them under a lot of undue stress, and you because you knew the Mer was here. Which is part of why it took so long for–"
"–and it's fine to say this now?" Jazz snapped and turned back to him with a small scowl.
"Jazz, how many staff members were in your area yesterday? When we talked about the gate?"
He paused, trying to recall. Blaster was with him and the group that went into the bay had five… seven?
"There was thirteen, Jazz," he supplied, knowing that any answer coming would be incorrect. It was a lot of people, and with Blaster already known for making waves on the regular, the sudden addition had eyes and ears on him. That, and because he had fought so hard against the 'great idea' brought up in the first meeting after emergency treatment had ended. "You didn't even clock the vet on standby at the pier entrance."
Jazz huffed and laid out flat, resting his chin on his crossed arms. Okay, so he wasn’t paying attention to who was around. "Then what is it about the gate? I get the bit about climbing the walls, but…"
"That one is on me, I was – am – being overly cautious. Not of you, but of others misunderstanding your excitement or anxiety as aggression. And I know how persistent you can be when something catches your interest. But that's not the point, what is, is that if the team reports you showing signs of aggression, they'll… remove him."
Now looking worried, Jazz glanced from Blaster to the gate. "But what if he shows aggression?"
"We're expecting that, at least at first." Blaster wanted to reassure him, but there were still too many unknown variables. "Unknown place with an unfamiliar face, and likely limited communication. There is bound to be backlash."
Jazz looked down with an expression of growing despair, before dropping his face against his arms. His words muffled, "so whether he stays or not depends on me being able to talk with him."
Blaster reached out and placed his hand on the orca's shoulder. "Listen, buddy, this might be hard to hear. But let me explain, okay? … So far it looks like there are no issues and the current plan is to have him released once he recovers." As he feels Jazz tense, Blaster frowns in understanding and begins to rub his shoulder to comfort him. "There is only one reason that the aquarium wouldn't go through with it, and honestly, I don't want that to happen. It's all sorts of fucked up and would only make things worse– but I don't want you to distance yourself from him. I want you to try and befriend him."
"… why," Jazz asked weakly, cursing him for telling him the truth – for reminding him of the truth – for breaking his small piece of hope of not being alone anymore. If he was going to be taken away, if he was just going to lose him no matter what, then it would hurt less if he just ignored him.
All sorts of answers bounce around in Blaster's mind. From wishful thinking – because I want you to go with him. To long term goals – anything we could learn could help Mers everywhere. But he settled on as close to the truth as he could. "Because I'm trying to make sure that no matter what happens, it's the best result for both of you. But I can't do that if the two of you can't at least work together. So, I'm asking you to try."
"Right," because he doesn't need to be kept here to survive… he just needs time to heal. Where I – "–right. Okay, I'll try… but where do I even start?" Jazz took a deep breath to compose himself before he lifted his head.
"Well, why don't we see if sleepy-head is waking up? Maybe he'd like breakfast." Blaster offered, first with a reassuring smile, but then twisted it into something more mischievous. "And maybe you could find out if he's got a beautiful name, too."
It took a second to realize what Blaster was getting at, and for the first time in his life Jazz felt bashful. "W-what are you talking about?" He hid it terribly.
"He's beautiful~" he whispered dramatically, and Blaster learned that mers could in fact blush.
—
When Blaster left to get food for the wild mer, Jazz calmly made his way over to the view port. Only to be taken by surprise, he was looking directly at Jazz. Though, glaring, might be more accurate with how his face was pulled tight with focus and the sheer intensity of his stare.
But otherwise, they were completely calm. Jazz wasn't sure if that was a good sign or bad. Yet, it didn't stop his nervous excitement from returning. He waved with one of his best smiles – one without teeth – and greeted him with a friendly, "hello!"
What he got in return was a slightly more intense furrowing of their brow – irritation or confusion?
"Oh! Sorry, habit." Jazz switched to mer. {Hi!}
The tension didn't leave his face, but there was slight movement and, again, Jazz didn't know how to interpret that. But he did answer, {||၊|။||||•။၊|။|။|၊|။||၊၊၊|?}
"Uh…" Yep, didn't understand any of that.
Then the door opened on the edge behind them and Jazz for a moment thought that it would startle the wild mer. But they didn't even flinch. And while their eyes remained on him, Jazz was fairly sure now that they had been using their sonar to track the human's movement.
"Are they still asleep?" Blaster asked, puzzled.
"Nope, very much awake." He shifted lower to try and get more than the man's boots in his sight.
"Ah…" He sounded uneasy and began to make small careful steps around the edge closer to Jazz while he spoke as calmly as possible. "Well, I'm going to keep talking, just so you don't think I'm trying to sneak up on you."
When he reached the point where he was straight across from the wild mer, they lifted their head to turn their glare on the human. Blaster to his credit did not flinch, but he did freeze. "Whoa– that's – wow, t-that's quite the look."
A series of slow clicks came from them, but their lips did not move. Jazz didn't think it was echo-speak, as it reminded him of his own searching clicks when he was trying to get a better picture. "Oh! I think he's trying to see what you have."
The wild mer glanced to Jazz, becoming silent once more before looking back up at Blaster.
"Fair enough, alright new buddy, I'm going to be real slow about it okay?" Back to narrating his actions calmly as he knelt down. Showing the long pole with a thin, blunt hook, "just an arm I don't mind losing if you decide that you don't like the breakfast I brought," and poured out the fish from the bucket.
Still the wild mer glared, unblinking and watching every little movement.
"Okay… I'm not sure what to make of this, so far everything has been nothing like previous encounters."
"Ya, didn't you say he'd be freaking out?"
"You got anything to calm or reassure our new buddy here that I ain't going to hurt him?" Blaster was doing his absolute best at trying to remain calm, but even his hands were starting to tremble under the pressure the wild mer was giving him. He wasn't even moving, just watching, but it felt like the human was being stalked.
Honestly, Blaster was probably one bad move from being lunged at. Though, if that was the case, he had maybe one chance to get away. The hammock would throw him off on the first strike, the supports could probably take two or four hard thrashings before it snapped under the mer's strength. Injuries be damned, this mer was in peak physical condition.
Jazz gave a small chirp to try and gain the other's attention, and failed, but continued with trying to talk. {It's okay, you're safe.}
He was given a very tiny dip of his finial facing the gate – a tell that he had heard him?
{You're safe,} Jazz repeated.
The mer didn't look away, but he did at least respond. {•၊၊|•|၊|။။၊|။•|||။||||။၊|။•၊၊||၊|။||||။•၊|။•၊၊||၊|။||||။၊|။•} Though, far too fast for Jazz attempt to understand.
"I'm hoping you two are talking about your favourite fish." Blaster joked to cover his nervousness.
Jazz sighed and admitted the truth, "I haven't a clue to what they're talking about…"
"Just let me know if I should run, kay?" He shifted slowly on his knees, trying to find a comfortable spot without making himself too vulnerable.
But Jazz hadn't given up yet. {Hungry?} He tried instead.
More chirps and clicking that didn't translate.
{Hungry? Yes? No?}
The heavy huff that came from them caused Blaster to flinch, but the mer finally focused on Jazz. There was clear irritation in their face now on top of glaring. And the damns broke, he started ranting at him loudly.
"Hey, don't yell at me, I'm trying okay!?" Jazz glared back, not backing down. Though wasn't all that intimidating with him just having a little porthole to look through.
"Jazz, buddy, please don't aggravate him." He, after all, was the one in the room with the wild mer.
"He fuckn' started it!"
Silence came quickly as the wild mer plunked his face into the soft floaty that had been his pillow. Blaster would have found it utterly hilarious if not fearing for his life currently. With another heavy and long huff, the wild mer looked back at Jazz, still glaring, but slightly less than before. {•|||။||||။၊|။•၊၊||၊|။? Yes? No?}
Jazz blinked at him for a moment, depending on the question, no could be a yes. {No…?} He answered tentatively instead.
{It's safe? Yes? No?} And he pointed his nose towards Blaster briefly, but clearly wasn't happy about it.
{Yes!} Jazz nodded vigorously and smiled for extra encouragement. Out of all the staff, Blaster was safe, Jazz held some trust in the human after all. {[Blaster] safe.}
"What about me?"
"He asked if you're safe and I told him you were. Relax a bit or something to show him."
Easier said than done. Blaster cursed, but did his best to ease the tension from his shoulders and smile a little. Even, daring to slowly lift a hand to wave.
The mer did not seem convinced, but his glare lessened some more and looked over the human with more curiosity than before.
{Hungry? Yes? No?} Jazz tried again.
There was a long pause, but they sighed and answered. {… yes.}
"Progress!" He cheered and then stuck his hand through the little window. "Blaster, hand me one of the fish. He's hungry, but I have a feeling that he'll trust you more if he sees me eat what you have."
"Okay." He made sure that it was clear as possible what his intentions were. Taking a fish under the gills, Blaster looped the blunt hook in and out the mouth. Then, very slowly, began to feed the length of the pole towards Jazz's waiting hand. Once Jazz felt the tail touch his palm, he grabbed it and waited until Blaster twisted enough for the fish to slip free. Then the pole was just as slowly drawn back.
The whole time the wild mer watching the exchange intensely.
Jazz pulled the fish over to his side, chirped for the other's attention before he swallowed it whole. Smiling once more as he said, {safe.}
Blaster had to admit, he was surprised when the mer shifted slightly in the hammock, and then cautiously held out his right hand. The glare never left, but this one felt like a threat, that if he messed this chance up, there would not be another.
Though this was the first time Jazz had been able to see any of his injuries. The colourful tape-bandages almost covered every inch of his skin from his hand up to his bicep. It reminded him that just yesterday he had been mortally wounded. Which was probably a key reason the wild mer seemed so calm, they had only started to recover and every action was either painful or exhausting. Likely both.
Jazz watched closely as Blaster went through all the careful steps as he had with Jazz and held the fish out. The only difference, was that the human's grip was loose, just in case the wild mer decided to try and yank him into the water with it. But they didn't, doing exactly as they saw before, allowing Blaster to release the fish and retreat. The whole process was so slow that the wild mer's arm started to shake from being held out.
But both Jazz and Blaster let out a breath of relief as there had been no backlash.
He eyed the fish in his grip with a mild sneer before he swallowed it and then held out his shaky hand for another. It was clear that the pain was getting to him, but nothing in his expression showed weakness.
The feeding got easier and quicker as Blaster relaxed a bit, not fearing that a normal pace would come off as threatening to the wild mer.
When the shaking got bad enough, the mer rested his arm back in the hammock, but kept his eyes on the remaining fish. As if to convey he wasn't finished, just needed a break. Blaster was more than happy to comply and gave him a few praises, even if they didn't understand.
"Hey," Jazz called gently, chirping for the other's attention. He waited until they looked his way, then pointed at himself. "Jazz," and then to the human, "Blaster," and back to himself once more, "Jazz," before pointing to the other mer with a questioning tilt of his head. He hoped it was clear what he was asking for.
When the silence stretched on for a bit, the human also joined in. "Blaster," to himself and to his mer, "Jazz."
There was a brief moment that Jazz could see that they were working over something, opening their mouth a few times before the sound of a sharp zip came out. "… 'tzz?"
Jazz snorted, before breaking into a few chuckles. "Ya, missing the Ja, but you'll get there. I'm Jazz." He placed a hand over his heart.
The gesture was reflected, {•၊||၊။}
It was his turn to try and work out the sound in his head. Jazz tried the word out soundlessly on his tongue once. It was like a popping roll? {•၊||၊၊၊၊၊?}
{•၊||၊။} they repeated, firmly correcting him.
"Nice to meet ya, {•၊||၊၊၊၊၊}!" While the mer scowled at him for not even trying to fix his pronunciation, Jazz just smiled brightly.
"So... what is his name?" Blaster asked for a translation, very interested in the development between them.
Jazz laughed, "I have no idea."

Don't ask about my attempt to make sound-wave-like-text, it's gibberish, lol, and going forward only •၊||၊။ (Prowl) & •၊||၊၊၊၊၊ (Prowler) will be used until Jazz has a English (common?) name to attach an understanding to.
Keferon, I just wanted to say that every comment or tag you leave on the fic is like serotonin being injected into my veins. Every silly little image is like rolling down a grassy hill in the warm sun while I laugh with manic joy. When you add art, it's like an adrenaline shot to the heart that makes me want to run across the globe just to frantically wave hello with both hands, give you a hug and run back to get started on the next part.
And the next part will be Prowl joining Jazz in the main pool and Jazz learning just how fast he is, even while injured. >:)c

white lotus is insanely good at showing capitalism and the state of western society as a prison that it is. the entire point of this ep was i think that so many characters got so close to breaking out of the cycle only to end up stepping back into the cage of it, locking it after themselves, and willingly throwing out the key.
piper, who like so many young people saw the injustice of the world and felt helpless in the face of it. wanted to give up her privilege and get away from her family who represented everything she hated only to let those values she resented pull her back in. the desire for comfort, the privilege of watching the world end from your comfortable seat at the top, the practiced line of “if we don’t enjoy what we have it’s a waste”. that was her breaking point and she will never go back. 30 years and she’ll be undistinguishable from her mother.
gaitok, whose story mirrors piper’s so closely in how he rejects his entire worldview because barely anyone is strong enough to uphold it in a system that will break you if you try to oppose it. to have once felt so helpless in the face of evil and to side with it since you can’t defeat it. to be pushed to find the violence within yourself when all you ever wanted was to treat the world kindly.
belinda, whose formative experience was being wronged by a millionaire, to have money and convenience prioritized over her, to experience the fickleness and complete lack of backbone of someone who has enough money to afford to have no morals. and to give up everything she believed in, all qualms about greg’s blood money, all dreams grounded in the reality of mortals to advance up to the realm of the wealthy. and to repeat what was done to her with the exact same carelessness and fickleness. to be so swept up in money that pornchai immediately becomes just inherently lesser to her.
rick, who had plans to kill the man who murdered his father and didn’t go through with them only to see that man again and get enraged by his words, again, and still, choose to control himself. he did not believe in therapy for a second at the beginning but, when everyone thinks he gets up from the table to give into murderous impulses, he actually seeks out mental help. only to be denied. to be denied when he comes to the therapist with tears, begging, willing to change and willing to believe in a better future he wants, needing just one chance, just someone to talk him through and believe in him in return. only to be turned down because another appointment is already scheduled. because the customer is king and because there is a line to wait in. he can’t take a chance he’s never given in the first place, so he reverts. the cycle never breaks.
laurie, who stays with the friends who make her miserable. lochlan, who drinks the seeds following in his family’s footsteps again but lacks conviction to fully commit, even in death. i could go on.
nothing ever changes. the status quo remains and the cycle continues and the wheel is never broken. you can never escape and, if you’re the one who the system benefits, why would you want to in the first place? lock your cage, throw the key away and enjoy a piña colada that won’t kill you anyway while the world burns.
#but also what do i know#the white lotus#white lotus#the most unrealistic part of this ep is that a rich guy is NAWT drinking from a blender that has yesterday’s nasty leftovers in it#i will never end up like him behind my back i already am#is so piper#thank you fall out boy#series finale of all time#that was god tier television#thank you mike white#white lotus spoilers#white lotus finale#the ratliff family#just some thoughts#i wanted to write down before i see other people’s smarter analyses and am unable to form original thoughts of my own#i could go on#but i have a whole ass term paper to write#bye

Band of Brothers (2001) + dog tags
The tag itself individualizes the human being who wears it, despite his or her role as a small part of a huge and faceless organization. While the armed forces demand obedience and duty to a higher cause, dog tags, hanging under service members’ shirts and close to their chests, remind them of their individuality. - Library of Congress, Dog Tags: History, Stories & Folklore of Military Identification

Lumon as the abusive mother. The building shaped like a uterus. (“I understand you’re unhappy with the life you’ve been given.”) Wire mother/cloth mother in their commercial. “Lumon will always protect and provide.” Creating their employees — waking them splayed out on a table, helpless — to give what Dan Erickson called “a sense of being born to the company.” “Milchick’s a nice man. He can’t always be nice like that.” Controlling realities. (“But eventually, we all have to accept reality. So here it goes.”) Building a chokehold of perfect pastel power based on shame and fear. “I’m afraid you don’t mean it. Say it again.” Covering up inflicted injuries with comedic explanations and little treats… because we don’t want people getting suspicious, do we? “What I just did was something I knew that you could handle and grow from. It was very painful for me. I hope that you’ll let it help you.” Rapidly oscillating between artificial comfort and breaking you into pieces. Lying. Infantilizing. And never dropping the smile. (“I am a person. You are not. I make the decisions. You do not.”)
Outies as the absent father. Only present for a single moment in the act of creation and never relied on again. (“The point is that Mark made a decision.”) Initiate the birth of a human consciousness for convenience — and then refuse to take responsibility for it. (“And that decision was controversial, ethically and socially.”) Portrayed as the ultimate authority and final word, but hold no actual power. Lied to. “I know your innie will be sad to have missed a day.” Fantasized about by the human consciousnesses they’ve created. “I like to think my outie lives on, like, a riverboat.” Trusted as rescuers — powerful. (“Well, we get her to the south stairwell… I’ll go with her… and once we’re out the door, my outie will know what to do.”) But are truly beaten down by life and don’t have all (any) of the answers. (“I don’t know. That’s his problem.”) They can’t BE there, but they can live on both in their creations’ skin and behind their eyes. “You carry the hurt down there too. You just don’t know what it is.” Want to stay away… yet cannot help but be curious. (“Like, you could get married and have kids, and just forget they exist for eight hours every day, for your whole life. That doesn’t mess with your head?” “I think for some people… that’s the point.”)
Innies as children. “Innie” — diminutive of “infant.” (“Forgive me for the harm I have caused this world.”) Petey’s first memories of Lumon coinciding with his fifth birthday. “Then again, you’ve been severed for two years, right? So your innie really is still just a baby.” Referred to with first name and initial… like little kids in a classroom. (“None may atone for my actions but me, and only in me can their stain live on.”) Have no say in how they dress, eat, or live their lives. “You brought him into this world without his permission, based on your own desire for emotional convenience.” Mark in the Grand Central pop-up being made to stand in a corner as punishment. (“I am thankful to have been caught, my fall cut short by those with wizened hands.”) Thought to be pacified with claymation. Cartoon mascots. Little treats. “Are you mad at me?” Not considered human, because if they’re human… how can we sleep at night? (“All I can be is sorry.”) Horrifically abused, but cannot leave their abuser, because they are unable to survive without them. “Well, since this perceptual version of you only exists at Lumon, I mean, quitting would effectively end your life.” Unable to ask the outside world for help. “They’ll all be Kier’s children.” Broken again and again… and always for. Their own. Good. (“And that is all that I am.”)
#Severance#severance tv#severance apple tv#severance show#severance spoilers#severance season 2#severance meta#severance s2#severance analysis#the interesting thing about this is that from a Freudian standpoint#it is the outie that’s getting “penetrated”#not Lumon#someone smarter than me: write an essay about that NOW!!!

there is something interesting about the core conflict at all of the skaldova pcs being this idea of shame, with Welly clinging to rituals and tradition out of the shame of her own natural desires, zudrick hiding the mistakes one can plainly see littered across his body under literal armor, and boggy lying about what actually happened to the buds. And it’s like, they don’t necessarily exonerate each other of the shame, but more so provide each other with the possible avenues in which they could exonerate themselves
#It’s kinda like showing each other they’re allowed to write new stories#Idk maybe someone smarter than me who’s not sick at 12:00 am can say something smarter about this#But it’s also interesting to me that this wasn’t like planned as a through line#It was just independently what they all decided about their characters#I LOVE YOU ACTUAL PLAY!!!!#naddpod#not another dnd podcast#Skaldova

“So, babysitting?”
Alberu follows after the delinquent. From the record the vice-principal gave him access to, Cale frequently drinks alcohol, he often gets himself into a lot of fights, and he barely passed his classes at the end of the grading period. The teachers never call on him in class, girls and boys avoid him alike, and he is- supposedly- completely intolerable.
Which is why Alberu Crossman, who’s only a little older yet infinitely more mature has been assigned by the principal (his father) to get the troublemaker under thumb. Cale's father is quite wealthy, actually, and since there isn't much known about the successor to the Henituse family... it'd be bad if he had to be expelled.
Cale scowled. “Yes, babysitting, your highness. Please, leave if you must,” He jeers at Alberu, but internally he thinks, 'No, really. Please leave.' Otherwise, he might get caught in the act.
Of not actually being Cale.
Roksu aims a sour expression at Alberu, who returns it with a more flowery one. Acting as his twin for the day had been easy enough, mainly because being trash is great!- until Alberu Crossman strolled into his lunch period and introduced himself.
He is even following him out of the school to his job. Well, this job is Roksu’s and not Cale’s, but because he can’t ditch work nor can he get glib-tongued Alberu off his tail-
Well shit.
Thankfully, the kids call him hyung. Except Raon, who calls him human. Hopefully Alberu doesn’t look into it too much. If everything goes right, Alberu Crossman will be Cale's problem to deal with tomorrow. As it should have been.
“I didn’t know you liked kids, Cale,” Alberu smiles charmingly, walking side by side with Roksu. “Can you introduce me?” Roksu struggles to not put on his own disarming smile out of spite, instead plastering on a classic Cale Sneer™. It fits on his face perfectly, like he’s playing a character in a play.
They enter the building and ‘Cale’ guides Alberu to a colorful playroom, decked out in toys and a fountain of running water as the centerpiece (A gift from his father, who is still upset that Roksu doesn't visit more often). There’s a tray of fruits and oatmeal on the small table in the corner of the room, except not a soul to be seen. Picking up a bowl of oatmeal and finding the ceramic to still be hot, Roksu almost smiles.
Alberu frowns. Where are the kids he's supposed to babysit?
Roksu tells the empty air, "Come on out."
Three children appear out of nowhere in front of them.
“Hyung!”
“Human! You’re back!”
“Hyung, nya.” On examines Alberu some more.
All of the kids had been revealed the moment that Roksu spoke, as Raon unveiled the invisibility on them.
Raon runs up and grabs Roksu’s hand, who places it on his head, rubbing the black hair comfortingly. “Mm.” Raon beams at the affection.
“Raon, On, Hong,” they each look up at him at the call of their names. “This is Alberu Crossman, he is doing a report on my trashy behavior. Don’t be rude."
All three children become hostile immediately. “He isn't trash!”
On observes Alberu with an intense glare. Raon shifts under Roksu’s hand, his deep blue eyes glinting with magic. Roksu positions him away from the older teen’s view. Raon grips onto Roksu’s pant leg with a vengeance. Hong stares openly, offensive.
Alberu smiles at them.
"I'm visiting with Cale Hyung for today, nice to meet you."
Hong gasps suddenly.
“He-!” On gives her brother a look, and he clamps his hands over his mouth. Alberu feels a deep curiosity, as if something isn’t quite as it seems.
Roksu sighs. It’s going to be a long hour.
At the midway point, Alberu has easily disarmed the children. They look fascinated at the magic he shows them, while Roksu can only rub a palm over Raon’s shoulder as a warning to keep his dragon magic under control. He's still just a child that wants to brag. Everything is going well.
Bang!
“Hey Roksu! How was-“ Cale bursts through the door, bright red hair equipped with a shit-eating grin, wearing clothes far less fancy than his usual. He tenses up, frozen in place when he spots Alberu on the floor, politely sitting "crisscross applesauce" with the children. Roksu narrows a withering glare at his twin.
“… Roksu?”
Alberu looks at ‘Cale,’ sitting next to him, the one he's spent the entire day with, who is trying to send what must be the real Cale into the sun with his eyes.
“Ha… ha?” Cale winces. Roksu wipes his expression from his face.
“Cale-hyung, run! That’s the human’s bad look!” Alberu’s eyes widen as he watches the confirmed real Cale bolt back into the hallway and out of the front door. Alberu whips his head back toward the stranger behind him, who is a perfect replica of the Cale who ran like Hell. Cale has an identical twin?? Since when? Why doesn't he go to school?
Roksu levels an emotionless gaze at Alberu. “Hello, your highness. Don’t mind me.”
Alberu can only watch in astonishment as this stranger walks out of the playroom, with a smooth and deadly gait as he hunts down his twin like a predator would to prey. He recalls the look 'Roksu' gave him and it sends a shiver down the principal’s son’s spine. That gaze held secrets.
Something about this stranger is even more interesting than the sudden appearance of a twin.
On walks up to him, sitting down in his lap and looking into his eyes. “Roksu-hyung will be back soon, nya!” Hong bounds over and sits next to his sister, grinning widely. Raon huffs and looks at the door. He wants his human to come back.
#Roksu is Cale's lost twin who reunited with the Henituse family at 16. he went to a charter school and speedran his education#which is why he doesn't go to high school with Cale#Roksu didn't want attention from the public so his existence is kept secret from most everyone outside of the family and tight-lipped staff#Cale wanted to skip school that day (he heard Albert would be coming to monitor) and tricked Roksu into dealing with it for him#not that Roksu didn't receive something in return for pretending to be Cale... but now he's going to 'negotiate' a better deal with his twi#anyway that's all I remember about this#hong was going to say 'He thinks Roksu hyung is Cale hyung!' but stopped himself from revealing it in time#kim rok soo#kim roksu#cale henituse#og cale henituse#lcf#lotcf#lout of the counts family#tcf#totcf#trash of the counts family#fic#ughhh I'm not as diligent with my tags as I used to be#tcf raon miru#lcf ohn#tcf hong#yayay#posting old writing so it doesn't rot in my notes app any longer#if I was smarter I would post it on ao3 but I don't really write enough words to bother doing that#not a reblog#alberu crossman#alver crossman#alcale#I put the ship tag but not because it's a ship thing. if Crozier had a nickel for every time someone close to him kept a mortal wound secret from him he'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's definitely enough to give him some very specific trauma for the rest of his life
#blankzier#fitzier#The Terror#Francis Crozier#I must say generally I think we are all collectively sleeping on some very interesting parallels between Blanky and Fitzjames......#I'm a lieutgirlie so this really isn't my department but I wanted to start some thoughts percolating within smarter people's brains on this#Also someone PLEASE write a fic where they both survive and he becomes paranoid about their health and safety QwQ#I want it now even though it would surely destroy me.........#Starky's original posts#Starky's text posts#as I said of course I am a lieutgirlie and the parallel of Edward and Crozier both ''losing two friends in one day'' is just diabolical#and one of my favorite things in the world to imagine is Ned becoming absolutely neurotic about Hodge n Jirv in a survival AU#just full on needs to have at least one and preferably both of them in his line of sight at all times or he starts hyperventilating#and I think the idea of Crozier feeling like that would also be very interesting and even more complicated#because he'd be much more successful than Edward (typical) at being self aware and repressing it which only makes it worse naturally lmao#and also because Blanky and Fitzjames definitely seem like the types who would chafe at that sort of thing lol#whereas I think tbqh Hodge and Jirv would be so messed up they'd be only too happy to embrace the codependency <3 yay <3#To Have And Have Not Lieutenant OT3 Version. Find it in ao3 bookstores whenever I manage to actually finish writing it.#christ look at all those tags. OP make a post about something without mentioning the Lieutenants challenge. failed catastrophically.

Hi
i wanted to ask, in canon, cass is able to speak normally and fluently but struggles with writing and reading and dyslexia right?
From what i've read that seems to be true, but i haven't read modern cass stuff besides bg 2024 where she seems to be able to read and write aswell
She does indeed have a language disability! From Batgirl (2000) #67:
Important part is that while she does struggle to read and write (more than speaking), Babs points out the she "can learn". We know from Gabrych's earlier issue (#58) that Cass has advanced significantly at this point in her reading skills:
It's still a struggle, but I think at this point her skills are speaking > reading > writing (and speaking is not completely fluent). Another thing we know from Batgirl (2008) is that Cass attended ESL lessons and got tutoring from Alfred. Beechen was trying to explain evil!Cass though, so whether you accept this explanation for her sudden fluent English is up to you. I think this is a copout since we didn't see this progression, and it's immediately followed by N52 anyway. But to answer your question about modern!Cass, honestly it's all over the place. We can start with Tynion's Detective Comics (2016), which remains the modern run that focuses most on her disability. Basil's Shakespeare lessons improve Cass' language ability, to the point where Babs says:
This is markedly different from pre-52, in that Cass seems to be a better reader than a speaker. So modern!Cass is reading > speaking > writing in terms of skill. This is supported by Batgirls (2022), where Cass is seen to be a huge bookworm and reads Steph's letter in #14. I think Batgirls overshoots this a bit because we don't see her struggle with reading at all, erasing her disability to an extent - this is my qualm with the current Birds of Prey run as well in regards to Cass' dialogue. Modern comics are hit or miss in terms of how they handle, or if they even address, Cass' disability.
Writing is the field least explored both pre- and post-52. We know from Batgirl (2000) #2 that Cass does practice writing, or at least she did at one point. As far as I recall we don't see her write again? Cass can type - as far back as Batgirl (2000) #30, we see that she can use a keyboard. We also know from TT's Nightwing that there's a family group chat, though Cass mostly sends emojis. Typing with a keyboard reduces the cognitive load of making sentences, so it's likely Cass is a more confident typer than she is a handwriter.
In general, modern comics have focused most on the speech aspect - Tynion's 'Tec, Batman and the Outsiders (2019), Batgirls '22, Batgirl '24, and Mariko Tamaki's story in Festival of Superheroes generally all focus on speaking over reading/writing (in contrast to Batgirl (2000) which touched on all three areas). The preview of Batgirl #7, though, has Cass listening to an audiobook as she reads, so Brombal is highlighting Cass' reading disability! Even if it's not all that visible in Cass' modern appearances, her disability is still a huge part of her character!!!
If you want a fairly in-depth look at the history of Cass' disability (until 2023), check out @dailycass-cain's post!
#cassandra cain#ask#hopefully i didn't miss anything but it's possible i have#i'm no means an expert in disability i think there are some other cass fans on here who are much much smarter than me in this area#anyway i wouldn't categorise her reading speaking or writing as 'fluent'#it's important to her character and her disability that there's no way for her to suddenly talk like she's been talking her whole life#which is why i think even comics that portray her as taciturn/speaking less miss the point#it's NOT just because she's mysterious and cool... it's because she struggles with forming words sometimes#idkidk. it's a hard line to walk between not erasing her disability and doing whatever hill did in batman & the outsiders#i love outsiders but the cass dialogue? i am SO glad it died in that run omg

DPXDC Prompt #82
Harley Quinn and Bruce Wayne accidentally have a one night stand after Harley is reformed. Harley gets pregnant but hides it, she can’t let anyone know about this. She gives him up for adoption and doesn’t tell Bruce. She can’t risk this getting back to the Joker who would definitely target the boy. Joker would definitely use her son against her, he’d be furious. so she gives Danny up for adoption. Who knew the Fentons were the wrong people to let adopt.
16 years go by and Harley begins to regret her choices and she decides to visit the home. She heard their eldest daughter Jasmine was getting into psychology and she’d figured she’d give her some pointers especially since they were kind of family. What she didn’t expect was for the Fenton Parents torturing and Vivisecting a ghost in their basement. Harley doesn’t know who this ghost Phantom is but she’s getting him out of their.
Danny finally comes too after the rescue to Harley Quinn of all people. He knows she’s reformed but he’s still cautious.
#dp x dc prompt#dp x dc#dc x dp#writing prompt#danny fenton#danny phantom#Danny is the son of Harley and Bruce#Danny gets vivisected#poor danny#Danny gets saved by Harley Quinn#Eventually Danny says fuck it and reveals he’s half ghost to her#Harley Quinn goes on a killing spree#She adopts Jazz afterwards why wouldn’t she want a kid that’s into psychology like she is?#Harley loves her kids and would do anything for them#Danny didn’t realize he was adopted#Danny being way smarter than people give him credit for#Honestly same#Id rather people underestimate me because if people knew they’d take advantage

One of my favouritist things to come out of High-Streamer is the concept that Amuro Ray does Not Think she's a newtype and is generally pretty sceptical that they exist at all. Literally everyone she interacts with is like 'oh my god is that the newtype pilot from the One Year War' and Amuro's like 'I am not a newtype' and everyone always laughs it off like she's joking but she isn't.
Being seen as a newtype by the federation got Amuro put under house arrest for 7 years and then when she joined the military again it kept her in low-level positions where she couldn't inact any valuable change. Being a newtype allowed her to form the deepest human connection possible with another person and then she accidentally killed her and Amuro's response to that is to pretend it never happened- that she was hallucinating- and not think too hard about it.
Precognisance? That's just me understanding warfare. Insight into people's emotions? I'm just good at reading faces. Psycommu? Anyone can use it.
FASCINATED by this concept. Genuinely like it a whole lot. Really contradicts Char's feelings on the Whole of Everything and I do enjoy when they foil.
#amuro the repressooooooooor#the rat speaks#amuro ray#gundam#high-streamer#char's counterattack#lalah sune#char aznable#amuro trying very very hard to opt out of the newtype bullshit#someone smarter than me could definatly write an essay on this
