Are you a writer?* Have you ever published anything, be it a small 100 word drabble or a massive 300k behemoth of a fanfiction, the following information is for you! <3 (*This post is aimed at writers in particular, but of course, any form of fanwork can inspire any new form of fanwork. The principle remains the same! <3)

Have you considered adding a Blanket Permission Statement to your Ao3 profile or in your pinned post on tumblr? Let me explain:

What is a Blanket Permission Statement, I hear you ask. Very generally speaking, a Blanket Permission Statement, BP for short, is a short text in your profile or pinned post which let's other people know that you are fine with new fanwork created based on your writing.

When it comes to other fanworks inspired by fanfiction, most often people will think of fanart and as a writer myself, the idea of someone even considering art based off of my writing is incredibly thrilling. But there are a ton of other forms of fanworks that can be inspired by a single work.

One of these things is a Podfic. Perhaps you've heard the term before, perhaps you are an avid listening already, perhaps you've seen it and always wondered what it is. The simplest way to explain Podfic would perhaps be: an audiobook based of a fanfiction.

From elaborate, highly edited, sound-scaped masterpieces to a simple, loving read-aloud recording of written fanwork, Podfics can add a thrilling new dimension to fanfiction.

That sounds exciting to you? Well, excellent! Now, if only there was a convenient and easy way to let one of the multitude of talented, excited, eager Podfic-creators out there know that it's okay to Podfic your writing. I have good news! I've included a few options you can simply copy and paste into your Ao3 profile or Tumblr and you are good to go! Version 1: Full Permission: I hereby give Blanket Permission to use my writing in any form of transformative fanwork, including Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic.

If you have any questions, you can reach me here: (prefered method, either email or tumblr or other) Version 2: Conditional Permission: If you would like to use my writing in any form of transformative fanwork (i.E. Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic), please reach out through (prefered method).

Version 3: Permission with exceptions: I give permission to use my writing in transformative fanworks, excluding (type of work). Version 3 Alternative: I give permission to use my writing in transformative fanworks (i.E. Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic), with the exception of (either type of work or specific writing), Version 4: No Permission: I do not permit any form of transformative fanwork of my writing.

Version 4 Alternative: I do not permit any form of transformative fanwork of my writing, except for (either type of fanwork, or specific writing). And that's it! Adding any of these statements to your information, perhaps even in the top/bottom commentary of Ao3 will help other artists determine whether they can use your work for inspiration! 🛠 What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?

For actual writing, I use google docs and word! But I also use Notion and a writing notebook to jot down things and help with any world bulding :)

❌️ What's a trope you will never write?

Hm, for some reason this one is hard 🤔 if we are talking generic tropes, I will probably never write a cheating au, like actual Lexa and Clarke cheating on each other (i have one where there's a misunderstanding). If we are talking about in fandom tropes, then pregnant Clarke is something I will never write 😅

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

I outline! Not as obsessively as I did before but I do get lost when I don't have an idea as to where the fic is going. Sometimes I outline so much that I fail to take into consideration how long each bullet point will be tho 😅 (To Birth a Queendom is about 15 pages of outline.... the first chapter that is posted is only half a page of the outline........)

#03. What’s a work you wish was more popular?

No Ordinary Love [yoonmin; exes to lovers], and Forever, You Said [jikook vampire au].

No Ordinary Love is still pretty “new” and was part of yoonminfest for the prompt “Exes”. Its based on HYYH bangtan and the fan theory that although yoonkook had been canon there was a side yoonmin story that may have led to the fight between yoonkook and JK getting in the accident. The twist in this version is that Jin leaves but none of the boys die or suffer some tragedy, instead they continued living/surviving.

Forever, You Said - because its a very dear story to me that I wish more people could read and tell me how they feel or made them feel, since its not exactly the conventional “vampire love story”.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

I love you, fics that take months to update. I click on the newest chapter and have no memory of this place and get to go back some chapters and rediscover how much i love everything about this story.

I love you, fics that take years to update. I think of you fondly, and know your names, go search for you and see an update from this year and scream, diving in uncaring of any missed details (i will finish the update and read you in reverse because this is a treat you have bestowed)

I love you, fics that probably will never update again. Thank you for being a roman empire for my mind, thank you for teaching me about the ephemeral fandom experience, for inspiring a thousand million what if-s, for being a comfort read and a nostalgia read and a reread.

I love you fic writers, who jump into projects and stories with enthusiasm. I love you when you succeed in pumping out those chapters and that love doesn't go away when you stop.

I love you fic writers who post and then get in your own head and never feel confident enough to update, whether it's at all or whether it's just that one story.

I love you fic writers, who have a fandom or media hurt you to the point of abandoning or having a hard time with their WIPs.

I love you fic writers, who lose interest or have life changes or illness or bad memory. Thank you for being part of the fandom, a core part of the fandom. Thank you for the time spent in the fandom.

I love you, fic writers who try out something new and then stop. You're so valid.

I love you, WIP fics that may or may not ever get finished. Thank you for brightening my day in the way only you could have.

General:

Is the ending satisfying?

If you had to cut 3 scenes what would they be?

Characters:

Do you get any of the characters names confused?

Which character is your favorite?

If you had to remove a character who would you and why? (you don't have to remove the character, just make sure their role is meaningful)

Which character do you relate to the most?

Which character do you relate to the least?

Do the characters feel real?

Are character relationships believable?

Are the goals clear and influence the plot?

Are the characters distinct (voice, motivations, etc)

Setting:

Which setting was clearest to you?

Which setting was the most memorable?

Am including enough/too much detail?

Plot and conflict:

Are the internal and external conflicts well defined for the main characters?

Are the internal conflicts and the external conflicts organic and believable?

Are there enough stakes?

Are the plot twists believable but still unexpected?

💫 what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

I really like when people point out scenes or moments they loved or when they pick up on small details i put in, and of course those big comments, those are always a delight to read!

Oh god, hm, i think i have nice prose. I think my writing has a nice rhythm and that it flows well and I'd like to think I can deliver some nice quotes here and there. I also try really hard with world building and character consistency and authenticity :)

💌 share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!

Oh i feel like i always talk about all of my aus so much 😅 but !!!! I recently managed to write a bit for a scene in Amor Mortis that got me so excited. Its pretty angsty on one side, its Lexa's funeral after all, but when put in context you get the grief of an uncle who loved his niece like a daughter but that knew this is the death she craved, he just doesn't know that she has found her happiness in the afterlife, one she could never have in life!
