Andrea De Riva - Bulleted Biography

A really quick fleshing out of what I have plotted for them so far. There are links within this to fics about content that I've written/am writing.

Recruited into the House of Crows at a very young age; they were told they were an orphan, and they haven't known life outside of the assassin's guild.

They were around eight years old when their magic first started to manifest, which was around the time that Viago--not yet Fifth Talon--took an interest in them.

With their magic presenting itself, Andrea was put through training to master it. They showed potential to be a spirit healer, and their training was further specialized.

They were still a fledgling when Viago began to take them under his wing, so to speak. He recognized the potential possibilities presented by having a spirit healer loyal to House De Riva--a loyalty tested when the Fifth Talon at the time was usurped.

Viago took over House De Riva following the death of his predecessor and Andrea's training continued; they were fifteen when they were fully inducted into the Crows.

Through their training as a spirit healer, they bound to themself a spirit of Endurance to help access the Fade and mend mortal wounds. However, due to their work as a torturer, they are constantly at odds with the spirit. There is a chance that, if they knowingly continue, they could corrupt Endurance.

Two years prior to the start of Veilguard, Andrea was working under House De Riva in Salle as a torturer. They handled targets from which they needed information, Crows that attempted to defect and were captured, and they also taught fledglings the art of brutality.

Around this time, Viago starts politicking and manages to get Andrea on a series of contracts with Illario Dellamorte, one of the potential heirs to the First House. It is rumored that Andrea might be Viago's pick to be his own heir.

Andrea works with Illario on the original series of contracts for a few months, and occasionally, they go to assist when he calls them to Treviso. Viago is not particularly happy with lending them out so often, but it's good to have an in with House Dellamorte.

After the events of The Wigmaker Job and The Wake, Andrea's relationship with House Dellamorte is (understandably) strained. When Illario reaches back out, however, they do insist that he should consider the optics of not yet being named heir in Lucanis's absence....

i had this whole thing a few days ago trying to walk through each step of jayce and mel's relationship in an attempt to parse exactly how and why their story (separate and together) got so fumbled in s2 but by the time i finished recapping s1 to myself i was so tired and the thought of going through s2 beat by beat, even by memory, was so mind-numbing i just couldnt and gave up

anyway the point of this post is that my only takeaway from going through all that was mel and jayce hardly knowing each other is a fact i can believe 100% now. i was always baffled by "i didn't know you were an artist"/"i didn't realize [you and viktor] were so close", but then when going through it all it hit me. if mel knew jayce well at all, she'd have realized sooner that putting him in politics - in the council - would be a horrible horrible idea, and she'd have tossed the plan if she knew.

their relationship had entirely been surface-level respect/admiration/attraction. they only started getting to know each other after the concert, AFTER sleeping together. it is only when jayce puts his head on her lap that she starts falling for him.

...now where the hell did "nothing feels impossible when i'm with you" come from? Fuck if i know!

(After writing this all out i think mel also just had way too thick capitalist-politician glasses on because no way you speak to jayce talis enough for him to vent to you about heimerdinger and such and such without getting Some idea that he Fucking Hates the world of profits and beaurocracy idk man)

In my dream I was learning about folklore and came across a spirit called the Harimaka (Pronounced: Hairy-Ma-Ka) which is a spirit of a young girl who was cut in half and nailed to a tree upside down by her father. She roams the forests and eats the faces and feet off of neglectful or abusive parents. You know its her in the shadows from the screaming in pain and the sack of her teeth and nails hung around her neck like a necklace. She crawls on all fours with her intestines being the only thing holding her upper and lower body together
