Youtube has an odd idea of what "lifestyle" is.
Or else I do.
Either way, I don't know what this insinuates.

I wanna know why today, of all days, was the day that YouTube decided to randomly suggest to me an mpreg SCP Foundation story out of the blue.
Tumblr media
I don't watch SCP content. I don't watch horror content. I don't watch mpreg content. So please Alphabet Inc. please explain to me what possessed you right here on this day to give me this video. I eagerly await your response.

I think that YouTube was better when only views & likes/dislikes were measured rather than how long people watch through a video in one sitting. This is partially what killed off rick rolling and mostly killed off creativity and long-form content as well as variety on the platform. They measure video analytics a similar way to how Netflix measures if a show deserves more seasons or not, how much of the entire season (or in this case, video) was watched in one sitting within those 24-48 initial release hours. Absolute worse content analytics change to be normalized on the internet.
I also miss when liked videos didn’t have a cap on how many likes you could have, but I’m not sure if that was always a thing or only a change implemented in recent years to cut back on data storage costs.

@makingboneboy @thealmightyemprex @the-blue-fairie @themousefromfantasyland
So I was last night casually browsing trough YouTube like when we get indecisões about what to choose watching on Netflix, and got hit on the eyes by disturbing imagery of a clickbait video about a bloody human's leg being bitten by crawling water insects.
I quickly search and watch funny videos trying to erase WTF I just saw, but the image won't leave my brain so I get the ansious feeling of scratching myself while asleep, feeling like the crawling insects are coming over my skin and wanting to eat me.
So I try to research ways of not having this fucked up shit recomended to me by the algorythnm, and learn that it helps to turn of the shorts (which also trend to randomly show disturbing imagery). They only get turned off for 30 days rather than forever, but still I can turn then off again.
I try to test it, naively thinking that the X to turn shorts off would only appear when you went in the shorts search (the X was right in front of me, at the right of the screen) and then the first image that appears is a short about medieval leg amputation.
Two disturbing imageries of bloody gory human legs, is that a cruel joke algorythnm?
Now I turned off recomendations, since the AI that does that is not really basing them on cartoons I watch anyway, I hope not to see more of that shit.
The disturbing mockbuster animation of Elsa and Spider Man in YouTube Kids cartoons was already disturbing enough.

Can somebody explain how YouTube decides what is considered child appropriate content?
YouTube just told me that I cannot use the mini player because it is a video specifically for kids. It was Jeremy Clarkson joking about his Weener size...
Why the hell would this be a video for kids specifically?

Possibly the strangest video recommendation I’ve ever gotten from YouTube’s algorithm. What even is this video? An analog horror video? Or perhaps part of an ARG? My mind cannot comprehend this.

I used to hate Robert Palmer's Addicted To Love until we playing the video and I'm thrusting my crotch and singing it exact while staring my friend's boyfriend (they're exes now and I've never heard of this guy since) dead in the eyes intensely to prove to him it's that bad, but it came around to being good instead, actually.

dead serious the youtube app autoplays everything you scroll past? how am i supposed to scroll slowly and stop to read the thumbnails and titles. like actually wtf no wonder their algorithm is broken. if you stop scrolling long enough to actually read the title of a video it's just going to start playing without your permission
