Minerals: Xenotime
A rare earth phosphate mineral, the primary composition of xenotime is YPO4, though it does form a solid solution with the mineral chernovite-(Y) and may therefore include arsenic impurities. As with many other rare earth minerals, the yttrium is also often substituted with other rare earth elements, including dysprosium, erbium, terbium and ytterbium. Uranium can be found in xenotime as well, so caution should be taken with the mineral as radioactive crystals can be found, though it is typically mild.
Xenotime crystalizes with a tetragonal crystal structure and is typically brownish, yellow, or red in color. On the Mohs hardness scale it has a value of 4.5. Considered a minor accessory mineral, xenotime does not have any large scale applications, but has been processed for its yttrium content when mined in conjunction with other minerals. Ornamental applications also exist.
For more in depth information about xenotime, check out what mindat.org, webmineral.com, minerals.net, handbookofmineralogy.org, and mineralatlas.eu have to say about it.

“For some, autumn comes early, stays late through life where October follows September and November touches October and then instead of December and Christ's birth, there is no Bethlehem Star, no rejoicing, but September comes again and old October and so on down the years, with no winter, spring, or revivifying summer. For these beings, fall is the ever normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond. Where do they come from? The dust. Where do they go? The grave. Does blood stir their veins? No: the night wind. What ticks in their head? The worm. What speaks from their mouth? The toad. What sees from their eye? The snake. What hears with their ear? The abyss between the stars. They sift the human storm for souls, eat flesh of reason, fill tombs with sinners. They frenzy forth. In gusts they beetle-scurry, creep, thread, filter, motion, make all moons sullen, and surely cloud all clear-run waters. The spider-web hears them, trembles—breaks. Such are the autumn people. Beware of them.” --- Ray Bradbury, Something Wicked This Way Comes

BASTET

Bastet, also called Bast, Ubasti, and Bubastis, is a goddess often represented as a lioness or a cat. She was a protective goddess associated with home, domesticity, women’s secrets, cats, fertility, childbirth, marriage, music, magic, sex, prosperity, joy, dance, healing, and pleasure. She is often invoked for protection against evil and misfortune. Bastet was also known as a goddess of joy, music, dance, and perfume, and is often depicted holding or playing musical instruments, such as the sistrum and the lute. She is also closely associated with the goddesses Sekhmet and Mut, which both of whom are depicted as lionesses.

Her body is typically portrayed as being covered in spots, like a leopard. She is often depicted wearing a wig adorned with a vulture headdress and a necklace with a golden pendant. In some depictions, she is also shown riding in a chariot pulled by lions, and in others, she was shown as a mother nursing her kittens.
Personality: she is known as a kind and gentle goddess who was particularly devoted to her followers and their well-being. She was seen as a protective deity who watched over homes and families, and was often invoked to protect against evil and misfortune. MISC:
Cats: they were believed to be the embodiment of the goddess Bastet, and as such, were considered to be holy creatures. Cats were also seen as symbols of grace, elegance, and fertility, all of which were qualities associated with Bastet. Additionally, cats were also seen as protectors of homes and families, which was one of Bastet's main roles as a protective deity.
Sun and moon: Bastet was sometimes associated with the sun and the moon because she was believed to have a connection to the heavens and the celestial bodies. She was considered a protector of the sun, and was believed to accompany Ra, the god of the sun, on his journey across the sky each day. She was also closely associated with the goddess Isis, who was often depicted holding a sistrum or a lunar disc, symbolizing the moon. Additionally, she was also sometimes depicted as the protector of the nighttime, and was thought to be responsible for bringing light into the darkness.
Ankh: the ankh, which is a hieroglyphic symbol that represents life, was often depicted in association with the goddess Bastet because she was considered a protector of life and fertility. The ankh was believed to have powers that could bestow life and fertility upon those who wore it or had it in their possession. It was also said to protect the wearer from death and evil. As a deity associated with these qualities, Bastet was often depicted with the ankh as a symbol of her protective powers and association with life and fertility.
Basket: she is often depicted holding a basket, which is believed to represent her role as a protective deity. The basket was used to carry items that were believed to have protective properties, such as sacred oils or other sacred items. The basket was also seen as a receptacle for offerings and gifts to the goddess, and was believed to represent the abundance and prosperity that she brought to her followers. In some depictions, the basket is also shown as overflowing with grain, representing her association with fertility and plenty.
Cannabis: in some interpretations, cannabis is seen as having a connection to the goddess Bastet because of its association with female fertility and goddess worship. Cannabis has been associated with many goddesses throughout history, as it was believed to be a sacred plant with spiritual and medicinal properties. Some believe that Bastet was associated with cannabis as a symbol of her protection and power over fertility and abundance, and as a means of connecting with the divine feminine. Other interpretations suggest that cannabis may have been used in ancient rituals and ceremonies dedicated to Bastet as a means of enhancing spiritual connection and achieving altered states of consciousness.
Perfume jar: Bastet was often depicted holding a perfume jar or a container of perfumed oil, which is believed to represent her association with perfumes and fragrances. The scent of fragrances was believed to have powerful properties that could purify the air and drive away evil spirits. The perfumes associated with Bastet were often said to have a floral, musky, or sweet scent, and were believed to have regenerative and protective properties. In addition to their protective qualities, perfumes were also seen as symbols of luxury and wealth, which may explain why they were often associated with the goddess Bastet.
FACTS ABOUT BASTET:
Bastet was worshiped in Bubastis in the Nile River delta and Memphis. Large cemeteries of mummified cats and bronze statuettes of Bastet were created at these sites.
Her name was originally B'sst, which later became Ubaste, then Bast, and finally Bastet. The meaning of her name is not known for certain, but some claim it means "She of the Ointment Jar".
According to Egyptian mythology, the circumstances of Bastet's death are a mystery, but many scholars believe she died while protecting her family.
Many Egyptians saw her feline attributes as all-powerful, with the ability to protect their homes from evil spirits and disease, much in the way cats could ward off vermin.
She works as a psychopomp, a person who leads the deceased to the next life.
Bastet, who was in charge of looking after the dead and the spirit world, was also in charge of destroying the bodies of the deceased who managed to escape from Ma’at’s judgment chamber. In addition, she directed the spirits to the afterlife World. She cared for the deceased and prevented them from fleeing their punishment.
Anyone who damages, kills, or is cruel to cats will suffer the wrath of Bastet and her devotees. Egyptians were so devoted to Bastet and their pet cats that when one died, the cats were also mummified and joined Bastet in The After World.
HOW TO INVOKE BASTET:
Light a candle and place it in front of an image or statue of Bastet, offerings of fresh flowers, especially lotus and roses, and which are associated with Bastet, burn incense, such as kyphi, rose, cinnamon, mint, or sandalwood, which are believed to be scents that Bastet enjoys, speak prayers or affirmations to Bastet, asking for her guidance and protection, and create a small shrine or altar dedicated to Bastet, with items that symbolize her qualities of protection and fertility.
PRAYER FOR BASTET:

Mistress of the Crowns, You rule all.

Daughter of the Sun, with flame and fury,

Wow, that is a fucking SPRING. It's not easy to have that much flow down the face of a mountain, and it's been what, mere moments? Forget restarting gold, if they could figure out a way to make this less toxic they could start Schlitterbahn Xenotime. Much more sustainable.
Okay I know they are being dramatic for narrative purposes and whatever, I'm just saying this is a truly and magically absurd amount of water to be pouring out in the time that has elapsed, and I need everyone to know that alongside me.
Please read me before commenting or sending an ask! (i respect your right to be contrarian but bear in mind you’ve probably seen this anime 87 times and I am watching it virgin-style. There’s a link to the discord on the advisory)

An observation based on these posts I've made.
It's been longtime commonly accepted wisdom that Naoko Takeuchi didn't know how to do villains well in the Sailor Moon manga, and that the 90s anime handled villains much better.
And I have to say....
No, that's wrong!
The truth is actually a little more complicated than that.
Naoko Takeuchi has, in fact, written some fleshed-out and nuanced villains. Danburite, Kunzite, Queen Beryl, Rubeus, Esmeraude, Safir, Prince Demande, Professor Tomoe, the Amazoness Quartet, Sailor Tin Nyanko, Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne, and Sailor Galaxia are all more than just "evil"; they have established backstories and motivations behind what they do and distinguishable personalities. So is Kaolinite in Sailor Moon Crystal, which was supervised by Takeuchi, becoming more sympathetic than just the wicked witch she was in the manga. And of course, Evil Endymion and Black Lady are corrupted heroes.
Meanwhile, we also have Queen Metalia, Wiseman / Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90 and Mistress 9, Zirconia / Queen Nehelenia and Chaos, who are intentionally devoid of nuance because they are supposed to be pure evil. Yes, the anime changed that in regards to Zirconia / Queen Nehelenia and that worked well (in SuperS anyway, fuck Sailor Stars), but that doesn't make Takeuchi's take any less valid or effective for her version of the story.
So which villains are just one-note and existing to be fought and killed in the manga?
Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, Koan, Berthier, Petz, Calaveras, Chiral and Achiral, Eudial, Mimete, Viluy, Tellu, Cyprine/Ptilol, Fish Eye, Tiger's Eye, Hawk's Eye, Xenotime and Zeolite, Sailor Iron Mouse, Sailor Aluminum Seiren, Sailor Lead Crow, Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon, Sailor Phi and Chi, and basically all of the Dark Agency's roster serving under Danburite.
And here's where I must mount a defense of Takeuchi. Yes, the anime fleshes many of those villains out greatly and I am happy for it. However, it is a fallacy to treat their roles in the manga the same as they were in the anime. In the anime, these characters are part of a formula that positions them as Subordinate Villains, the ones who control the Monsters-of-the-Week. But the manga worked differently. It was a monthly publication, with each arc lasting around a year and the chapters' contents plotted out in advance. In that more limited timeframe, these villains were not controllers of the Monsters-of-the-Week; they were the Monsters-of-the-Week...er, I mean, Monsters-of-the-Month. Complaining about them not being well developed is kind of like complaining that any Youma, Droid, Daimon, Lemures or Phage in the anime isn't well-developed. It's kind of missing the point. And yes, I know that Kunzite, Tin Nyanko, and Lethe/Mnemosyne are also technically among this type of character yet they were more strongly humanized in what time they had, but they're exceptions and not the rule (with Kunzite it happened due to personal fondness Takeuchi felt toward him; and for the others it was due to the need to flesh out Shadow Galactica as an organization, showing both the validity behind why many of its members joined and the ultimate mistake it was due to Sailor Galaxia's psychopathic ruthlessness toward any she deems failures or traitors).
So there you have it. By and large, yes, I do prefer the anime's takes on villains. But Naoko Takeuchi's writing for villains doesn't suck, it's just meeting the needs of a different medium.

Sailor Moon Trivia #2
Most Sailor Moon villains are named after minerals. The reason might be that the manga creator Naoko Takeuchi studied chemistry in university. She also was part of the astronomy club, which explains her knowledge about planets and space.
Here are the name origins for most villains:
Dark Kingdom: Beryl, jadeite, nephrite, zoisite and kunzite are all minerals. Metalia probably derives from "metal". The term "Shitennou" means "four heavenly kings" and is also used for a group of Buddhist gods.
Ail and An: It's a pun. Their combined namens sound a bit like "alien".
Black Moon Clan: The Ayakashi Sisters are named after minerals: kermesite (Koan), berthierite (Berthier), calaverite (Calaveras) and petzite (Petz). Ayakashi refers to a type of supernatural monster/phantom or can mean "suspicious". Rubeus refers to ruby (his name means "red" in Latin, and the word "ruby" derives from that), Esmeraude is an obsolete French word for emerald, Saphir could be the French/German word for sapphire, and Demande probably refers to a diamond. It may also be a pun with the English word "demand". Chiral is a term from chemistry, describing an object that cannot be superimposed on its mirror image. Achiral is the opposite.
Death Busters: Who would've thought, the Witches 5 and Kaolinite are also named after minerals: kaolinite, eudialyte (Eudial), mimetite (Mimete), tellurite (Tellu), viluite (Viluy), cyprine and ptilolite (Ptilol).
Dead Moon Circus: The Amazon Trio are not only named after the animals they represent, their names also refer to minerals. There's also an "amazonite". The Amazoness Quartet are named after celestial bodies (Pallas, Juno & Vesta are asteroids, Ceres is a dwarf planet). These are named after Greek goddesses. Zirconia is named after a mineral (zircon). Nehellenia might be named after the Frisian-Roman goddess Nehalennia. Xenotime and Zeolite are minerals.
Shadow Galactica: The Sailor Animanates are each named after a type of metal and an animal: Iron Mouse, Aluminum Seiren (sirenia is another term for sea cows, but it might also refer to sirens from Greek mythology), Lead Crow, Tin Nyanko (nyanko means something like "kitty cat"), Heavy Metal Papillon (papillon is French for butterfly). Lethe and Mnemosyne refer to rivers in the Greek underworld, representing oblivion and memories. Phi and Chi are letters of the Greek alphabet. In the musicals they're also joined by Theta.
R Movie: Fiore is Italian for flower. Xenian might refer to the biological term Xenia, which is the effect of pollen on seeds and fruit of the fertilized plant.
S Movie: Princess Kaguya is a character from a famous Japanese tale about a princess who came from the moon.
SuperS Movie: The villains have French names associated with sweets. Badiane means star anise, banane is a banana obviously, orangeât is candied orange peel and poupelin is a kind of pastry. Perle means pearl (he's not a villain but was originally part of the group too.)

Cuz of that fake Civilian identity, they swap a feature with their "dance partner", Tim, and his partner swapped hair color. A dance partner is the one person with whom they are set up to make combo attacks. They will have matching Bows and glasses, so let's see if you can spot who is partnered with whom. ;)

MISC:
• Fire: Wagner combined Loki with Logi, the fire god, in his Ring Cycle. And ever since, Loki has been associated with fire and magic in pop culture. There are some very iffy pieces of evidence that Loki might have had some historical connection with fire (e.g., the Snaptun stone and medieval folklore about the Ash Lad) but the scholarly consensus is “Nope, blame Wagner.” That said, fire, with its dual roles of creation and destruction, enlightenment and passion, is a pretty potent symbol for Loki even if it doesn’t have a historical basis.
• Red hair: Loki’s hair colour is never mentioned in the lore, and there are some illuminated Icelandic manuscripts in which he is shown as a blond or brunette. The fire god mistake mentioned above probably popularized the redhead image. (Interestingly, Thor is canonically a redhead.)
• Fishing nets: in Gylfaginning, Loki weaves a fishing net while on the lam and hiding from the Aesir. (The story kind of implies it’s the first fishing net, although Ran is also credited with inventing them elsewhere.) Loki turns into a salmon to escape but ends up being caught with his own creation,
• Earthquakes: the prose epilogue to Lokasenna claims that earthquakes are caused by Loki writhing in pain when Sigyn leaves to empty her venom-catching bowl.
• Masks: while Odin, not Loki, takes the name of Grímnir (the masked one) in the lore, masks are a fairly logical thing to associate with a shapeshifter.
FACTS ABOUT LOKI:
• In Norse mythology, Loki is known as a chaotic and mischievous figure who frequently causes problems for the god’s.
• He is a Jötunn or giant who is the son of the Jötunn Fárbauti, which means "dangerous strike."
• Loki is connected to the realms of chaos and trickery and is often seen as a troublemaker and instigator of conflict.
• He went as Thor’s bridesmaid (when he dressed up as Freyja) to go with Thor to get Mjölnir back from Thrym.
• Loki is a powerful deity with a wide range of abilities, including shapeshifting, sorcery, illusions, and knowledge.
• He is closely associated with the concept of trickery, often utilizing his skills as a master manipulator to cause trouble for the god’s.
HOW TO INVOKE LOKI:
The best way to work with Loki is to respectfully is to approach him with sincere devotion and reverence. He is a God of mischief and chaos, so a certain level of humor is appropriate when working with him, but that doesn't mean you should take him lightly or treat his power with disrespect. To worship him respectfully, make an offering, either something tangible or a gesture like writing a poem or performing an act of mischief and chaos in his name. Be genuine and open in your intention, and don't be afraid to get a little mischievous yourself.
Some ways to works with Loki include:
• Doing things that embody his energy and traits, such as pranks or mischief

• Cook meals and eat with him (cook whatever meal catches your fancy and then eat at his altar).
• Hoard jokes, puns and memes (VERY IMPORTANT! Loki loves his humour but in good taste. He seems to dislike and would often refute humor made in bad taste like triggering and racist jokes).
• Give without expecting anything in return.
• Share laughter with loved ones.
• Light a candle in his honour.
• Be kind to those who are outcasted.
• Wear a piece of jewelry that reminds you of him.

....okay?
Like, plants being able to clean up soil and probably water is a known thing, as I understand it but, okay so am I supposed to be thinking that this red water spring thing was a puddle situation and not a going concern? Because for starters that's not what a spring is and for seconds, I guess I'm just accepting that alchemy can make trees grow organically but quickly instead of just sort of changing into being, thus absorbing things from the roots (IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THIS PLEASE I BEG JUST GO YELL AT THE DISCORD. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GATE AND CONTINUE TO SPOIL ME FOR SHIT THAT ACTUALLY! HADN'T BEEN MENTIONED! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD)
So now we have a bunch of poisoned trees, which, actually, should be fine? I guess? We can fell them and use the timber for stuff, maybe, maybe for a while Xenotime can be making the famous Red Woodcraft, and it can be exported and very valuable or whatever. It's an idea! Maybe even if the spring is an actual spring, they can grow more of it! I am here for you!
Please read me before commenting or sending an ask! (i respect your right to be contrarian but bear in mind you’ve probably seen this anime 87 times and I am watching it virgin-style. There’s a link to the discord on the advisory)
