rewatching gravity falls gave me a moment of melancholy
a fictional town has more sense in disqualifying Gruncle Stan being mayor for having a criminal record, than the very real US government being a-okay with a felon running for president.

Honestly the first thing that popped into my head with the last prompt is that villain took too long to make a decision, so they get shot/otherwise attacked and get hurt. Meanwhile hero is freaking out and their "savior" is like "Aren't you glad I made it in time?" (Either sincere from Sidekick or sadistically from a Supervillain type, idk I can't make up my mind on which is better).
That’s the good shit ngl

the first time there’s any sign of alien activity after fourteens retirement and he’s just sat on a lawn chair in the Nobles garden with a book and a drink, glancing up to see whatever the fucks going on through his prescription reading glasses and saying ‘not my problem’ and taking a little sip through his multicoloured straw

September 9: carry | @jegulus-microfic | word count: 190
“Jamie, pleeeease.”
“Reg…”
“I’ll break up with you if you don’t.”
“Reg!”
“James, I might die.”
James’ laugh almost bubbled over and spilled out, but he held it in stoically. Regulus would kill him for laughing at him right now.
Regulus gave James a death stare so intense others might have cried from. Not James though. James merely smiled and finally relented.
“Okay, yes, I’ll carry you for a bit,” James told his boyfriend, who had been dragging his feet through the amusement park for the last hour.
“Finally,” Regulus groaned, hopping up on James’ back and swinging his legs to circle James’ waist.
James caught him and squeezed his thighs lightly. He loved carrying him around like this. And he knew Regulus liked to be carried. So it worked out pretty well for them.
“So which ride did you want to go on next, love?” James asked.
“The one with the snakes,” his boyfriend answered sweetly, angry tone completely evaporated now that he’d gotten his wish.
“That one’s on the other side of the park…” James said slowly.
“I know.”
God, James loved that man. Truly. Bless his soul.

the fact of the matter is percy jackson and the olympians is a story of a negligent system in which demigods often fall victim. luke’s motive as the main antagonist throughout the series is to dismantle that system, dismantle the thrones on which the gods sit. hestia, however, does not sit on a throne. She places herself at camp half-blood among the demigods, reachable and ready to provide them warmth. and when the war reaches its peak, lives are threatened and the olympians leave to defend their symbols of power, hestia remains on mount olympus and tends to hearth, nurturing what is left of family. hestia is not everyone’s favorite Oolympian because she has done nothing to harm the demigods (though, that is a huge factor). she is the most honorable because she does what she can to maintain hope and stability throughout adversity. hestia was the last olympian remaining because she represents what matters most when everything falls apart.
