I’m glad my stuff can be helpful! It can be hard to picture how something might help you if you dont, yknow, see it reflected in people in the world around you. I encourage you to seek out some real trans masc people who look like you too if you can. Luckily these days there are a lot of people open about their identities you may be able to turn to. (Or even cis men! People say they have gender envy over random cis guys all the time. You’re allowed to feel that way about people who look like you do.)
But also I want to say, even if something wont make you completely 100% happier, that doesnt mean you shouldnt take a chance on it. Even 5% happier is still happier. And if theres someone worth taking a chance on, “yourself” is pretty high up there, if you know that I mean. If its something you want to try, then the point of doing it is... because you want to try it. And I think thats a good reason.
Im glad you can see yourself in stan and see opportunities for yourself through him! Also im glad you are accepting yourself more and more. I hope the trend continues and that you have a good day

i wasnt expecting the results of that poll to suggest that dudes don't like cracking eggs in general but it kind of makes sense? the dominant narrative in the tumblr transmasc community at this very second is that You Can Never Know and providing any kind of advice is invasive and possible misgendering which is in large part a backlash to transfem spaces where egg cracking is a thing you're supposed to actively do so a bunch of trans dudes saw jokes about forcefem and thought "but if someone forcefemmed me that would suck ass bc im not a woman and dont want to be one" as if "actually im a trans guy" or even "hey, please don't speculate on my gender it makes me uncomfortable" wouldnt immediately cause any transfem person irl who suggested you might be an egg to be like "oh sorry bro my bad" bc shes like a human being capable of processing additional data, so they all made a bunch of posts about how that extremely niche scenario would be really invasive and triggering which then had to be abstracted so it wasnt immediately obvious that theyre just getting really mad at some transfem on reddit talking about putting estrogen in the water supply, and then somehow became a major community talking point.
which i think is the problem, almost every horror story is "someone decided i must be [identity] and then didn't listen when I told them to stop", because if i say i don't wanna cut my hair and some trans girl says "yknow i felt like that too before i realized i was a girl" and then im like "oh i already tried being a girl and it wasnt for me" and thats the end of the conversation it's at worst a little awkward. ofc it's different if it's a cis person telling me it's proof i haven't entirely forsaken my womanhood but this is a classic case of "changing the words in a sentence changes the meaning". the fact that transandrophobia necessitates that cis and trans guys experience gendered treatment by society the same way means that you can't say "well this is fine if a trans person does it from a place of wanting to help and is respectful about it" because a fully actualized gnc trans guy and a feminine cis guy who's never been given encouragement to explore his gender have to be the same kind of person and not two groups of people with different circumstances who will be helped and hurt by different things.

Scalding hot take I've been ruminating on but I think we need to retire the phrase 'Trans X are trans X' (ie. Trans men are men, trans women are women) and 'trans X are not Y' (ie trans men are not women, trans women are not men)
Not because its wrong per se, but because 90% of the time people say it and actually mean 'trans X are exactly the same as cis X'
And what happens is, even trans people, (id argue especially trans people) consciously or not, internalise that everything that is believed about cis people, is true for trans people.
This leads to absolutely batshit takes like 'its okay to hate trans men because men are our oppressors' (thats just transphobia) and 'trans women are sensitive and delicate and need protecting because they are women' (actually they need protecting because theyre being fucking murdered, not because theyre magical soft sweet little babies (like you think women are. Thats just sexism, even if you mean it positively). This ones often covert because, unfortunately sometimes sexism is gender validating)
Its also a *hand wiggles* phrase because I think a lot of people are so afraid of seeming transphobic that theyve kind of backpedalled into becoming really transphobic by denying the existence of anyone who is both a man and a woman and trans (and any and all combinations you can think of).
I think also this phrase is partially why a lot of people seem to think all trans people want to pass, will pass, and have a completely binary identity. The mere suggestion that a trans man can be a woman or a trans woman can be a man is seen as transphobic, when thats probably how the cookie crumbles for most people with multiple genders that include the binary ones.
(I was really glad to see more awareness and acceptance of multigender stuff in the last while but everyone gets funny about it every time trans stuff comes up... these do not have to be conflicting issues...)
How to help this? I'm not sure. I feel like some kind of indicator whether a trans person identifies as something, versus wants to be something (Im not sure how to explain this distinction. I guess its about whether your gender is more about being TRANSgender or being transGENDER. Yknow?) could be helpful, but well thats just more divisions and distinctions for people to put their burdens on.
Ultimately some women are men and some trans men arent men and some binary people are nonbinary too, because its all made up and simultaneously real. Without acknowledging this, we're just making Sexism 2.0 Trans-Affirming This Time instead of going 'hey, sexism fucking sucks, we shouldn't do that to anyone, cis or trans'.

i made a rly rly long post asking this basic-ass question but i decided to shorten it to just this: is it...WEIRD to, from now on, make my ocs some flavor of woman, and also change my previously-male ocs into some flavor of women as well? im having a Moment rn
im just less interested in making male characters nowadays and they are my ocs after all so i feel like it shouldnt be that big of a deal, especially since theres a ton of ppl who have 100% cis male ocs all the time. but idk. i even find myself wanting to change my old guy ocs into women now bc im That uninterested
i feel a little weird abt taking away trans guy rep from my ocs (id be changing my trans guy ocs to trans women instead, like turnis, and id still have transMASC ocs just not...guys. i guess) which i guess is the reason im asking, bc i also know that i dont Have to represent every type of person (in this case gender-wise) in my ocs. theyre MY ocs...yknow? im not aiming to be the be-all-end-all of representation here after all. but im still unsure abt it
this isnt to say id stop drawing fanart of male characters or headcanoning characters as trans guys or anything like that, itd just be solely for my own ocs if that makes sense? i guess i just dont want to come across as terfy bc that is most certainly not the case lol. i dont wanna change my oc gender rep bc i think it's "better" or something its just a matter of what im finding myself personally interested in now i guess?
anyway. thoughts are appreciated ✌️

Hi i know this is gonna sound really stupid but, how could a cis person go about making trans headcanons? Since i wouldn't want to accidentally make a blunder or say something hurtful
IM GONNA BE HONEST, ITS PRETTY SIMPLE!
STEP 1. KNOW WHAT TRANS STEREOTYPES THERE ARE. THIS IS PRETTY EASY, SINCE REALLY THE STEREOTYPES ARE NOT VERY SURPRISING (AND ALSO VERY PREVALENT EVERYWHERE IN ALL THE ANTI TRANS HATE GOING AROUND)
STEP 2. LOCATE THE CHARACTER U THINK WOULD BE COOL WITH A TRANS HEADCANON
STEP 3. THEY ARE TRANS NOW
ITS RLLY NOT SOMETHING I CONSIDER TO BE VERY DEEP. JUST THINK "HMMM....THIS CHARACTER TRANSGENER :)" AND BOOM! THEY ARE NOW! THERES NO NEED TO TRY TO JUSTIFY THE LOGIC OF THEM BEING TRANS, NOR TRY TO WRITE IT INTO THEIR STORY SOMEHOW. THEY JUST...CAN BE TRANS!
BUT ALSO LIKE. REMEMBER TO LISTEN TO TRANS PPL IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT SAID HEADCANON. IT DOESNT MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY FUCK UP! AS LONG AS YOURE WILLING TO LISTEN AFTERWARDS, YKNOW?
OVERALL, THANKS FOR ASKING! TBH I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS VERY HELPFUL BUT I HOPE IT WAS :3
