When these actions inevitably fail to bring the change that is needed, the failure is not channeled into analyzing and self-crit on what went wrong, it is instead spent on a meaningless hunt for the outside agitator, the spook, the foreign influence which supposedly caused their virtuous and moral actions to fail.

ALSO the point about exploiting the LGBTq community is NOT about the fans or LGBTq audience who love these dramas. But about businesses and literal Thailand itself. For using those stories and actors / couples for advertising, for marketing, for tourism even. BUT at the same time some don't care for real life LGBTq issues and rights or the fact that Thailand is still not agreeing on equal marriage (which is not just about them not being able to marry but they get denied a lot of things married couples get. alone the fact that they can't see their partner in the case of an emergency in the hospital because 'they are not family'). In the said SbS scene they were literally discussing which pretend couple has the most fans and how they could use their fandom and fan clubs to gain profit. Don't you guys get how fucking frustrating this is for the LGBTq people and allies who work in the BL industry, to get paraded in front of the camera for money and image but still don't get treated equally??? THAT is what they mean with exploiting.... And it's a lot of producers, writers and some actors who voice those points, not just these few self-aware BL dramas. But doing it through the medium they adress is the best way to reach the right people, to make the right people aware and ask for their support. And I am sorry but the opinion of actual thai people who are inside that industry is more valid than some random fan who just doesn't want to understand those things in order to enjoy their shows without feeling bad.... I entirely agree with you. When an adult makes themselves younger and has romantic or sexual relationships in a Desired Reality, but does so for fetishizing purposes, it is truly something disgusting and wrong. In this context, fetishizing means objectifying youth, turning someone's age or stage of life into just a sexual fantasy or fetish. Such behavior is deeply problematic as it plays on exploitation and dehumanization, considering age not a part of identity but a bargaining chip for pleasure.

Though, of course, there are those people who don't fit that category, and for them, I don't mind aging down.

As I've said, aging down in a DR to re-experience certain stages of life, or even to engage in romantic/sexual relationships, isn't essentially bad when it has more complex and genuine reasons for being done so. These reasons could be past traumas that one is willing to sort out, lost experiences in life, or just taking enjoyment in the innocence and carefree spirit of youth devoid of any sexual connotation.

Reality shifting lets people be in another version of life, where they are not just the age but also the mindset, experiences, and maturity belonging to that stage. It's not fetishizing or exploiting youth; it's honestly reliving or getting parts of life that have passed one by in CR. For many, it's a deeply personal and even therapeutic journey.

For example, someone may shift to his teenager years to experience a carefree high school life without the anxiety he went through in his CR or to make friends and connections he never had the opportunity to do in his original timeline. These can be very meaningful, healing experiences that provide a person with a sense of closure or fulfillment that they may not find otherwise.

Clearly, it's important to distinguish between those who shift with pure intentions and those who might use this practice for harmful or even fetishistic reasons. The latter is truly a problem and not to be accepted. Yet, for the massive majority of people who do age change out of exploration, healing, or discovery, it remains valid and enriching in their overall experience of shifting.

Also, reality shifting is something deeply personal and subjective. Everyone's journey is different; what may sound weird or even somewhat gratuitous about one point for a person could be deeply meaningful to someone else. This gives that much more power to shifting as a self-exploration tool. We should be careful not to judge or impose rigid moral frameworks on the experience of others, provided it stems from genuine motives and is non-exploitative. In conclusion, while age changing in shifting is a phenomenon that one needs to be cautious about, we still have to leave room for understanding and being empathetic toward those who use it for their growth, healing, or exploration. With that said, as long as it's done respectfully and harmlessly toward others, aging down in a Desired Reality can be an important and maybe even transformative part of a shifting experience.

Although, i must say that an actual pedophile once they realised the potential of shifting would not even age themselves down and would shift to a Reality where what they do is accepted. (this simple thought makes me nauseous)

This results in Black turning into a Mr. Hyde version of himself and ends up being taken to the nut house, all thanks to White using his love for literature to his own advantage despite that it has been used against him on other multiple occasions. Yea this is a really valid point. They could have set it up better with him wanting the entire goetia extinct and even killing lets say, a newborn goetia if they wanted him to be that kind of antagonist. But instead they just show him working for one to kill another to make ends meat. And they make him say stuff thats straight up true "all you royals ever do is try to talk over us" (note he says royals not goetia/birds/etc he specifically mentions their status). He wasn't wrong with that line, look at how the fucking butlers are treated in this show. If either of them killed Stella or St*las in their sleep as much as I love Stella to make up for the shows poor writing of her. I'd completely understand I have to be real 😭 they're borderline toys that can physically be thrown around at will.

Also though, beyond the show not setting up Strikers supremacy thing properly... I do question the motivation. Okay, you want a supremacist antagonist, that is specifically supremacist towards rich people/royalty that exploits the lower classes... hmmm, that feels a bit weird. Are you going to make him a kind of "resistance is valid when theres no other options, but don't go too far to the point you'll kill babies, after all a child didn't ask to be born royal" kind of portrayal? While still showing that the upper classes are bad for upholding an inherently oppressive system? And that even the nicer or more well meaning ones still benefit from it? Is he portrayed in a gray way? Is he intended to show theres different sides to resistance movements and often disagreements within them etc? No. No he is not for any of that. Instead, they make him a totally wrong meanie baddie while consistently making many sins and goetia innocent good guys who never hurt a soul!!!!! Its not their fault their rich!!!! Look how sad and gay they are!!!!! Like. Ok... but... they still benefit. From. You know, the oppression of hell hounds, imps, etc...

Striker exists for Stolitz drama, despite being a character that brings up the serious classism in the world he occupies. He exists to stand in the way and get beat up lately, instead of the writing exploring the world's classism properly. Its such a joke. The classism in general is only used when its convenient for drama that the show wants to focus on and not any of the drama it doesn't like how being upperclass was how St*las was able to sexually exploit Blitz, it feels very shallow.

St*las is straight up a protagonist next to Blitz at this point more than the rest of IMP. Why is it so desperate to make him a main character and to make him a poor misunderstood baby? While the poors are all just assholes who need to learn to be better? Something about it doesn't sit right to me. Its this sweet sanitized version of classism and class struggle where the problem isn't a complex system but rather its just that a few of the sins and goetia are a bit too mean >.<. I hate it. I find it very distasteful to try this sort of almost "equal blame" approach. There isn't equal blame, the upper classes are exploiting the lower classes and that needs to fucking stop. Being so eager to portray poor people as just needing to accept their station in life without any physical resistance to change it, like how Blitz was forced to for his businesses sake (and the sexual exploitation that happened as a result), yeah thats sketchy. The problem is that St*las shouldn't have servants in the first place, its not that poor people need to not be bigoted towards rich people. Classism kills. The lower class shouldn't have to miserably accept a system that harms and kills their very bodies via deprivation of resources etc.

this culture we've created around accusing someone of [Bad Thing] without proof is going to lead to someone's death. i'm genuinely surprised it hasn't already. to be clear, there's nothing cruel or unjust about asking someone to validate their claims against someone else, especially when those claims are severe (racism, rape, queerphobia, etc). treating the demand for truth as an admission of support against an alleged aggressor instead of regarding it as what it is (fact-checking), is so deeply, deeply sinister. do you know how easily implicit trust is exploited? do you know how easily false accusations can be lobbied at queer or bipoc people? and how hard it would be to fight those allegations, given the fact that these individuals would be minorities fighting within a system stacked against them?

A Celebration!

So I have memory issues.

It's for a lot of reasons that I won't get into here, it's really not a big deal. But it plays a fun part in the way I form relationships, especially relationships online. To put it simply, I can no longer really remember how I met @mercuryytheraven. I think I made some post asking people to tell me what's keeping them from writing and challenging them to allow me to fix it. We spoke for maybe thirty minutes, and I remember them saying that they were working on a Warrior Cat's fan fiction, which tickled me because I didn't know people still read those books.

They essentially said that they've been trying to write for some time, but no matter what they did they could never get past around 100 words. Something always got in the way. If I'm being honest, I don't remember what I told them, but it must've been insightful because they've been messaging me almost daily ever since.

Eventually my brain just accepted the presence of this bright, dandelion-fluff of a human being. I would look at my phone and say oh hey, it's them again. I would tell my wife about their exploits and we would remember what it was like to be young and even more confused than we are on a daily basis. Quietly, and I have never told them this, but I started calling them my protege. I don't know if that's arrogant or not.

Mercury is such a treasure of spirit. All it takes is one conversation to see the depth of color they carry within them. They care so deeply and about so many things, a quality hard to find in a world so preoccupied with cynicism and meta post-irony. Not only are they already an insightful and deeply curious writer, they are also an incredibly skilled visual artist. I questioned the validity of the high standards they held themselves to again and again - but then I told myself that I once did the same thing.

When I met Mercury they said they never wrote more than 100 words. That was less than a month ago. Today they just finished the first chapter of the Warrior Cats fanfiction they've been brewing for years. It's just over 3500 words.

Friend, do you know how remarkable that is? Can you imagine that big a breakthrough? I cannot stress enough that this is an immense achievement - not unbelievable, very believable, but hard. Worthy of accolades. Worthy of relishing in!

One chapter is never just one chapter. It's the creation of something foundational that didn't exist before. It doesn't matter if it's a fluffy fanfic one shot or literary novel or long-form au or pulp genre shlock. It wasn't here before and now it is and that is one of the most wonderful things in the world to me.

You might know me as someone against the general romanticization of The Writer as an archetype, but it's moments like these that truly call that stance into question. Because what @mercuryytheraven did today, and what many of you do whenever you can, is truly a precious sacrament. It is ritualistic in nature, a human sacrifice where we are the blood offering and the result is a story birthed from our own transfer of matter.

It is beautiful. So please, if you can, send some congratulations in the direction of our friend and colleague. And the next time you reach a milestone you feel is too small to be remarkable, know that you're wrong. You're doing something special for yourself and those around you with every single word you write, whenever you can write it.

Yes, I know. I was there.

Allow me to explain. There are parts to that story that I did not tell you. The reason, my recordings of my short stories stopped where they did, is because I sat me down to write the missing pieces, and could not bring myself to do so. I have a heavy burden of guilt for my actions during that time. I was intent on having this man prove to the world what a monster he was so I exploited the mythology created by a conman. Unfortunately, this was the wrong thing to have done. I made the situation far worse and suffered at the time because of this poor decision. But by the time I realized I had some part in this catastrophe, it was too late for me to stop it. I had to carry it out to get it to stop.

I can tell you about anything you want to know about, but it is very difficult for me to address. I would be happy to try again at completing the story. I am not sure I can record it until I’ve processed how I feel.

I will see if I can attempt it this week, but I warn you that the story is somewhat triggering in many respects, including dealing with the magician. That specifically makes me feel very, how do the kids say these days? Skeeved out? Some such.

Guilles was a sick man surrounded by sick man. And I made it worse. It’s because of how that ended that I decided to never participate in any sort of vengeance again. And so for a long while, I did not use my abilities to aid humanity in any way. After that time, I eventually ended up in England . The idea that Night refers to his document as “scholarly” is… amazing. There’s a reason that I’ve insisted on our docs being primarily evidentiary, and why my people have trusted me to lead the writing efforts.

Dany actually had dreams...while canon Helaena, you and no one can ever prove that she did, so the real question is why is there a discrepancy in your mind as to why Dany shouldn't/couldn't have her canonical dreams while a less important character like Helaena should/could? Makes no sense.

GRRM clearly uses her to make other characters compare Helaena to Rhaenyra, the Shepherd, the coming Dragonpit disaster, the degredation of Rhaenyra's control over KL, etc.

Also, why do you think it' a good thing or acceptable that they removed Dany's dreams, which are critical to understanding her arc, the Targs, the climatic catastrophe that is the Others, AND as this is a fantasy series...we need magical elements?! So, back to the discrepancy, I rather think it is you who is showing a bit of sexism: bc unlike Helaena, Dany is not a girl-woman who succumbs to the patriarchal violence but fights back and is going to enact revolutionary violence. So, yes, HotD dropped the ball and it does have to do with sexism either on the writers or the execs, like how Legend of Korra wasn't given as much of a chance as it should have been. Whether bc of production stuff or imagination. Espec since there have been characters people actually made into real people in just s few scenes (the rest going off from that point) and that has not happened for Helaena yet...when it should have in the first season. And if you say "bc studios and execs are cutting down stuff for costs", then that just hammers in the point that this is not a good story bc it was not allowed to breathe and develop. Right now, Helaena is still just a person who says stuff and people ignore or to characterize/reflect more on Aegon and Jacaerys (dance scene).

You both put up shields around everyone. You never talk about each other in romantic terms to other people, aside from a mere acknowledgement that you're not single. It helps a little in the sense that rival gangs think twice (or not at all, once they know your partner) before trying something on you. He likes the safety it can bring. He'll never tell his teammates though.

However, you both live in a cruel, cruel social sphere, where even said acknowledgements come with their risks. You are a couple, but if you consider your traditional expectations of one regarding PDA, showiness... It's not there with you two. You often get compared to other couples, within the mafia sphere...
