Acotar long theory - Rhysand & Gwynriel.

Spoilers all SJM books

Rhys Knows about about the mating bond between Gwyn and Azriel.

This is a theory that I can really get behind anyway and here's why. 

Staring out with SJM retconning the events surrounding the raid on the temple in Sangravah. In ACOMAF Rhys states he had to wait for confirmation from Azriel that Sangravah had been raided, Mor also appears to be shocked by this news so we can take for granted that Azriel was either there or obtained the info to pass on to Rhys.

In ACOSF however SJM changed this to Azriel definitely being there, first and slaughtering all the Hybern soldiers, then Mor a few minutes later and then Rhys arriving in person. 

This is actually the part of the recton that I find the most interesting. That Rhys himself turned up. Sarah could have retconned it so Azriel then Mor and Cassian winnowing in together with less tampering with what she originally said. Rhys often delagates tasks/missions to others.

Having Rhys present leads me to believe that there would be some purpose in his being there, Mor I think could be accounted for as a female presence to help the priestesses. Gwyn even specifies what the characters do, Azriel kills, Mor heals but not what Rhys did. 

So what purpose could Rhys have had in that scene?

Was he put there just so that he was already introduced to Gwyn and could snipe at Nesta when he sees them together in the training ring? He already knows why all the Priestess are at the HoW library, he could have sniped at Nesta wether or not he knew her personally or not. 

For this I'd like to look at some examples of Rhys talking about his own power, the particular way he describes what he was doing with his power while UTM

"I made a web between all of them, actively controlling their minds every second of every day, every decade, to forget about Velaris, to forget about Mor, and Amren, and Cassian, and Azriel." - ACOMAF

"anyone flying or traveling near Velaris would see nothing but barren rock, and if they tried to walk through it, they’d find themselves suddenly deciding otherwise." - ACOMAF

“Amarantha didn’t know they existed. And when someone tried to tell her, they usually found themselves without the mind to do so.” - ACOMAF

We know that it is in Rhys' wheelhouse to make people forget and importantly to make people switch tack when their mind strays towards a subject he wishes to remain a secret. Imagine you wish to tell someone something but suddenly all it slips away and now you're just wondering if you left your oven on. 

So if you will, go on this journey with me, and we say for instance, a mating bond snapped into place for Azriel and Gwyn upon their first meeting, how truly, truly terrified might she have been in that moment. After everything she'd just been through.  

Gwyn says that Azriel "slaughtered them all" 

Could his rage have been something to behold even for Rhys to know what it was? As Ruhn can tell when Hunt goes into a Mates rage in HOSAB?

Could Rhysand have snatched Azriel's mind in that moment, and made him forget? Just tied a little knot in his mind and held onto it all this time?

I suppose a good question is would Rhysand do that, because we know that he could. 

In ACOWAR there's a scene that's brought up frequently in regards to ships and has been gone over quite thoroughly but I'd like to go over some bits and pieces that interest me for this theory however.

The conversation Rhys and Feyre have before leaving for the Hewn City chapter 24.

Feyre feels guilty for entering Lucien's mind without consent, albeit she did this because of her deep concern for Elain. 

'Would you have done it? '

'Rhys considered. Yes. And I would have felt just as guilty afterward.'

Rhys confirms he would go into a friend's mind, and that he would feel guilty for doing so.

He then goes onto assuage Feyre's guilt, determining that she had a good reason to do what she did.  A 'for the greater good' sort of reasoning. 

We see this reasoning resurface in Rhysand in ACOSF where he makes a poor choice in hiding the real risk of Feyre's pregnancy to her. He didnt wish to upset her, and wanted a solution to hand before he informed her. This isn't necessarily about the really poor choice he made more that he believed he had sufficient reasoning. 

To go back to ACOWAR ch24:

Feyre asks if Rhys thinks Lucien and Elain are well suited, he doesn't really give and answer except to say that Lucien is loyal and fiercely so, and then we get this interesting choice of words:

“So is Azriel.”

“Azriel,” Rhys said, “has been preoccupied with the same female for the past five hundred years.”

Not in love with Mor, but preoccupied, distracted by. 

Then immediately afterwards Rhys, who never really tells Feyre what to do, basically asks her not to get involved in Azriel and Mor's business. As though he really takes no issue with his brother being 'preoccupied' with Mor. 

Rhys also does not offer any comment about Feyre's thoughts on Azriel and Elain as a couple. 

As for Azriel's ACOSF bonus chapter, a lot of people where mad at Rhys, either for him interrupting an Elain/Az kiss and meddling in their business or just for the simple fact he seemed to be 'throwing his weight around' a little bit. 

Rhys' surface level explanation of this as a Ruler makes sense, but let's look at a potential different angle. 

"What if the Cauldron was wrong?"

Rhysand blinked. "What of Mor, Az?"

Azriel questions the Cauldron and the first thing Rhys does is to bring up someone he knows Az is preoccupied with, a 500 year distraction to keep him chasing his tail. 

"The Cauldron chose three sisters. Tell me how it's possible that my two brothers are with two of those sisters, yet the third was given to another"

Rhys' face drained of color. 

Rhysand does not pale easily. From my checking, that descriptor for him seems to be reserved for if something really upsets him or freaks him out (like Feyre talking about her death)

So for him to drain of colour, that sentence has to have really really bothered him, guilt perhaps at something he has done? 

We know a mate bond can never truly be broken or go away, but for the males it can "drive them mad" 

Could this be concern over Azriel's mental state not just because of the rash decision to kiss Elain where anyone including Lucien could see, but for what Rhys thinks might happen to a mated male when he does not remember that he is mated or who to?

"You believe you deserve to be her mate?"

This could be Rhys looking for that reasoning, has he done the right thing or made a huge mistake. 

"Allow me to make one thing very clear. You are to stay away from her." 

This seems pretty extreme, unless however you alone understand how truly messy things could become, aside from all the explanation he gives about Lucien, including the blood duel (Which is odd for Rhys to mention as he knows Lucien is Helion's son) 

Gwyn is Nesta's friend. Azriel is already physically spending time in Gwyn's presence, perhaps Rhysand is hoping he'll be able let go soon. How mad you might be at your brother being so close to everything he ever wanted and him fucking it up, even if it you had a part to play in it. You would put your foot down. Hard. 

"So you will leave Elain alone. If you need to fuck someone, go to a pleasure hall and pay for it, but stay away from her."

Where is the: 'Hey brother I know how you must be feeling but dont worry, there must be a special someone out there who loves and deserves you, get out there and look!' ?

The options he confronts Azriel with are, hey what about the girl we all know you're never going to get with or failing that, pay for a sex worker? Seems like Rhys might actually be limiting Azriel to people he believes he won't form an serious relationship with doesn't it?

"Snarl all you want."

"But if I see you panting after her again, I'll make you regret it."

This actually stuns Azriel out of being angry, Rhys doesn't do this sort of thing normally. 

So if you add this up with Rhys saying Elain would have the full support of the Night Court should she wish to reject her mating bond, why would Azriel have to stay away from Elain forever? If that's what she wanted and he wanted. 

Something so out of character for Rhys it shocks Azriel, just to set up a forbidden love trope? 

As mentioned some were pissed at Rhys for all this.

But SJM likes to do this to us, she likes for us to BE ANGRY at characters, and then give us an explanation that breaks our heart or at the least helps us understand later down the line. (If I factor in my long Elain theory we might even be thanking him for interrupting!)

Because Rhys would have done this for Gwyn, not for Az, but to protect her, to try and offer her some peace while she heals.

If this theory where true, I'd like to imagine that he had a conversation with her and let her know that full stop that Az wouldn't try and pursue her unless she was ready wether that be 2 years, a decade or never. 

But again what we have seen is Rhys being down right horrible sometimes, if he believes it's for the greater good, then we usually get the actual explanation for it later. 

Further on in the BC Azriel obviously interacts with Gwyn. 

"For a heartbeat their gazes met. He blocked out the bloody memory that flashed, so at odds with the Gwyn he saw before him now" 

Did he block it out? 

Or did he just get too close to remembering everything.

Did Rhys yank on that leash?

"I just. . . I know you like to be alone." 

Gwyn most definitely could have perceived that about Azriel, but in theory she also could have asked someone who knows him to tell her about him. 

'Azriel dipped his head in a sketch of a bow. something restless settling in him. Even his shadows had calmed. As if content to lounge on his shoulders and watch.

But--- sleep. He needed to at least attempt to get some.'

'He wouldn't go so far as to call Gwyn a friend, but...'

These buts... These sort of... interrupted thoughts, paired with sense that Azriel isn't entirely sure why he's doing some things. It does give the sense of other forces at play.

I know some people like to go in for the Gwyn is lightsinger theory, personally I don't (I address this in my long Elain theory) Especially with the points at where these thoughts are cut off. 

I know some also like the 'fake bond' theory like Aelin/Rowan/Lyria. Maeve of course having similar powers to Rhys, I'd find it much more likely however that Rhys would use his power to 'hide' a bond for good, than to fake one, for evil. Or even to fake one full stop. 

Mating bonds are powerful things though as we see in ToG even with an altered mind Rowan is still attracted to and still falls in love with his actual Mate.

Does Rhys really have the power totally control everything about Azriel's bond to Gwyn now that he's actually interacting with her? Perhaps they'll fall in love before Gwyn and Rhys fess up to having known all along.

One would think though that Rhys trying to keep a hold on such a powerful and primal force might affect Azriel though...you would expect to see something more than interrupted thoughts, something more physical like oh, I don't know...

Headaches? 😉

Again this is just a theory, theories are fun and we all like to rummage through the text and try and figure stuff out through this long wait. GHOST 💀x Reader HCS PT.2

Inspired by @temeyes breathtaking art once again.

He's the kind of person who says "If you die I'll kill you".

He's actually fond of people who stand up to him. Not in a way that is rude or irritating, but people who don't put up with his shit and push back when he's being too stubborn for his own good. He's even impressed if the person in question is a civilian and/or way smaller than him.

He'll go suddenly silent after you snapped at him for good reasons, staring intensely, and you think to yourself: That's it. This is how I go. He's gonna murder me in my sleep. Goodbye cruel world.

Then he just snorts. An half amused, half appreciative sound. Looks you up and down, like you're a new person.

Laughing at his jokes will inflate his ego. Specially if you laugh more at them than at Soap's antics. His humour is too dark for most people so its true value is rarely appreciated - according to him.

Agressively cares. If you're looking down he immediately offers to murder whoever did this to you. You never know if he actually means it or not, because he's deadpan as usual when saying it, but he's also the only killer you know that offered to kill for you...

Will pull out his best (worst?) Jokes for you. Calls you out frankly if you're talking shit about yourself and doesn't shy away from calling you a bloody idiot for it. It's easier for him to care about you than to care about himself.

Him trying to seduce you would involve: juggling between hot and cold because one day he's resolute to win you over and the next he convinced himself this is all a terrible mistake and you could never want him, and you deserve better anyway than this ghost of a man.

Him making more jokes than usual, specially when you're alone together. Him showing off - he's not insecure at all about his body nor his skills -, wether it's by lifting heavy things, sweating in the training room, "accidentally" being shirtless when you visit his room...

Will stand behind you in silence so when you walk backwards or turn around you bump into his chest. He wonder how many times he can get away with it before you notice he's very much doing it on purpose.

Uses his height to lean in and whisper things in your ear. Doesn't even need to be scandalous in nature. The rasp of his voice, his accent, the murmur, the proximity of his lips to your skin, all of this make for a deadly combo. And you react so, so well when he compliments and praises you, the filth can come later.

Comes up with more or less believable reasons to pull up his mask more often when he's alone with you because he knows you will stare at his lips.

Diluc took a step closer to you, feeling guilt swallow him whole...how could he have said that to you...the person he loved so much. "You're never bothersome to me... His voice was pleading with you, his hand reaching out to touch your face just like he always did, but before he could actually touch you, you pulled away from him...

"Diluc, you can't just say things like that...and then say you're sorry and think that makes it all better." You crossed your arms, covering yourself protectively as warm tears started to make their way down your cheeks...your heart hurting at the thought of being...bothersome...to someone you loved so much. He couldn't just say that and not mean it...right?

He swallowed harshly, racking his mind for some way to fix this...take away what he had said, "You're right, I just...is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" You looked away from him, unable to answer because in truth...you were asking yourself the same question.

𑁍༄Albedo:

"Could you please just get out of my way, I have very important things I'm working on and you're not helping."

Albedo reached out, grabbing you by the wrist harder than he meant to, in a attempt to stop you from leaving. His bright blue eyes looking at you with so much guilt in them, "Please don't leave...I like when you're with me, I was just having issues and I took that frustration out on you...I'm so sorry. I swear you're not in my way my love." His voice cracked as he begged you to stay, but you felt like you were just in the way now...and honestly you weren't sure if that feeling would go away easily.

You pulled your wrist out of his grasp, trying desperately to not cry in front of him..."Albedo, you never say things you don't mean and clearly I was bugging you,...I'll just leave for now." Your voice was barely above a whisper as you rushed out the door, leaving him on the other side of it, wondering if you could ever forgive him...if he could ever forgive himself.

𑁍༄Alhaitham:

"This isn't something you'd understand, not unless you've doubled your IQ overnight."

Alhaitham closed his book, sighing at his own ignorance when it came to love...to people, he could tell he had upset you greatly and yet he had no idea how. "I truly didn't mean to hurt you... What did I say that upset you? I'll make sure to keep it to myself next time..."

You could barely believe what you just heard...he didn't even realize what was wrong and he'd just keep it to himself next time...which meant it wouldn't solve a thing. "All of it Alhaitham. All of what you said, your tone of voice, that annoyed look you give me...you make...you make me feel stupid. Like I'm not smart enough to even compare to you...and it hurts because I already worry about things like that."

He stared at you, his eyes widening as you spoke...but he said nothing in return, what could he say, even he didn't know. In the end you left, not another word said by either one of you...

𑁍༄Xiao:

"Leave."

"No I'm not leaving...it's not your choice wether I stay or not Xiao, it's mine and I would rather spend all my days with you with that slim chance of you hurting me, then spend my life without you and always be hurting." Your words sounded so fragile now...your mind racing with the horrible thought of possibly never seeing him again. How would you even be able to stay in Liyue... everywhere...everything was showered with memories of the two of you together.

"You...you can find someone better. Someone who doesn't have that risk to begin with...I'm sorry. I shouldn't...I shouldn't have given you hope, I just...wanted so badly to love you, but my love is dangerous and even though you're right, leaving is your choice...it's also mine. I'll leave." As he spook your heart sank deeper and deeper, into a bottomless pit of depression...it was like drowning but so much worse. You opened your mouth, wanting to yell at him not to go but...he disappeared before you even had the chance...leaving you...

"I don't love you, honestly how could I when you're just a mortal and I have the power of a god."

You backed up more, your back up against the wall as hot tears rolled down your face... everything you once believed about your relationship suddenly wavering. "H-how could you..." You stuttered, unable to properly think as he apologized over and over...trying to take it back, but it had already sunk in. It was like a knife shoved into your stomach, twisting with each meaningless apology.

"I don't know! I just spoke without thinking, I wanted to hurt you but not...not that badly! I'm sorry I didn't fucking mean that, you're the only one I've ever loved." His voice cracked as he continued to move closer to you, his hands shaking with anxiety...if you left because of this.. he'd be all alone, again. "You can say something rude to me, or I can do something to make you feel better...just, just don't go. Please."

You shook your head, using your arm to wipe away your tears as you shoved past him, bolting towards the exit, why would you stay...for someone who didn't love you.

Humans are...weird. At least they are to our lovable space cats. And just like us, they seem to adore that weirdness. That being said, there are things they just can't seem to understand, and each time you and your mate are together, they seem to discover new oddities. Like...

• Breaking bones

Look, they get it. You're not as fragile as you look and, despite their protests, they understand that they don't always need to protect you. But just how on earth and the wider galaxies are they going to have a good night's sleep when you're out here- breaking your own bones???

They almost had the Yautja equivalent of a heart attack when it happened the first time. It was the day you had promised to make them 'breakfast' because you wanted to see them try human food that wasn't raw, bloody and still squirming.

You had walked into their quarters that day, putting a plate of food into their hands and just as they were about to take their first experimental bite, you stretched your arms over your head and- snap!

The ever burning blood in their veins felt cold as ice as they threw the plate to the side and rushed to yours. They knew that sound. They had broken bones before. And they'd heard their prey scream as they did so but you... didn't?

They still get embarrassed remembering how you'd looked at them in confusion back then, asking why they were frantically searching you for injuries. And why, as they found none, they held onto you for a solid hour.

Because you scared me, little ooman. They had wanted to say. Because I never want you to get hurt.

• Motion sickness

Okay, are you sure humans aren't as fragile as they think? Like, really. Are you sure, little mate? Because they're pretty sure they just saw you almost collapse from quote-unquote- 'standing up too fast'

They knew from the start that your people weren't as agile as theirs, few species were. And they didn't expect you to jump from tree to tree with them or climb mountains or anything like that. But now you're telling them that even something as simple as standing can make you dizzy? Oh, their heart. Don't you know how much you worry them already?

You assured them it's fine, and for the most part they believe you. Because, what other option do they have? But even so, in the back of their mind, they still think of it, and since that day they always keep a bit of a closer eye on you when they see you getting up. Just in case.

Something they can protect you from though, is...

• Body temperature

Oh the joy of having a partner who's, quite literally, hot. There aren't really winters on board of your ship, but sometimes the cold still gets to you. And when it does, well. Just come snuggle into your personal heater!

They're actually pretty smug about it. Whenever they see you shiver slightly or even just get goosebumps from a passing wind, they step closer to you until you can feel the heat radiating from their body. And wether you know it or not, you always snuggle slightly into them when that happens. And it's the absolute cutest when they get out of bed and they can hear you whining as the warmth leaves your side, you preferinng them much over your blanket.

So you can imagine the absolute horror they experience when things start being too hot for you.

When your body temperature's rising they're almost completely touch starved, you only touching them for mere seconds at a time. It's made them despise summer, even though their species thrives in hotter environments.

They're still trying to figure out why these changes occur, why you sometimes prefer hot over cold or the other way around. But for now all they can do is beg the next few days are going to be a bit colder.

You couldn't help but smile at his words. You nodded and let him lead you away, feeling atleast a bit more comfortable in your outfit.

I figure he has chronic pain/ frequent issues because he was blown up and you don't just walk away without issues

He may not have the same pain but he is familiar with the concept and the way a body will often choose to punish you if you ignore the little things

Wild will find out what causes your flare-ups and try to help minimize that stimuli

Probably knows some plant medicine, and will try to use that to help you.

If the pain is in your joints or walking makes it worse he'll insist on more frequent breaks. (If you can stand be carried or riding Epona he'll implement that.)

Wild tries to help you find stretches to relieve the pain (fully understands that this is not foolproof and can make things worse)

Kirari is secretive, she doesn't let you in on things. That annoys you because if you need help and she's nowhere to be found, who did you go to? It hurts to know she keeps secrets and even lies to you, there have been many fights about it.

She has a hard time describing her emotions. She does it with gift giving, and physical touch. If you're overly touchy, or dont like the forehead kisses, you two have to work on a middle ground.

She has to talk go talk to the clan members during her meetings. Some know about you and make snide comments, to her it doesn't matter. No matter what duty she has to fill, she will keep you safe. Even if it means lying.

It takes time, and I mean a lot of time, but slowly Kirari opens up. She shows her true self, she shows the side she's always wanted to show you. She just didn't know if you were trust worthy enough.

When the two of your fight, it's usually resolved by the end of the week. At first she'd buy your things she knows you want. If that doesn't work she acts more affectionate, trying to make you forget the fight completely. If that doesn't work, then she has a mini crisis and you usually end up letting it go by that point.

There have been times when you haven't and she has to apologize. Once she does it after a few fights, she's less embarrassed. She knows how apologies work and just wants you to accept hers and move on.

Kirari loves you and it hurts seeing you mad.

Saku i just watched the new noble trials episode and it’s so amazing great job as always! i can definitely tell the great amount of effort you are putting into this project.This episode has to be my favourite by far i love the back and forth banter between the Earis and Zaros but despite that i feel like their relationship has evolved at least a little bit,Im also curious to know more about what the Earis and their mother were discussing at the end about Zaros’ grandma i cant wait to know more about that!

But on the topic of the queen Roena I had mixed feelings on her this episode…I dont wanna say she seemed sinister but she definitely appeared a bit more ig mysterious to me this episode?? Not just that but I definitely feel like she seems a bit more manipulative when it comes to the earis and their role as the upcoming ruler(potentially).

In the first episode she seemed genuinely supportive and like she genuinely wouldnt care if her child lost or won the trials and didnt want them to be to hard on themself,im not saying she doesnt still feel that way but in this episode she seemed a little more controlling and adamant on them winning. Its natural for her to want her child to succeed,especially since its something they have been working on for so long and something she missed the opportunity of doing with her first born but i feel like overtime shes slowly been putting pressure on the earis(wether shes realised it or not) and making them believe this is their only/best option. I mean in the first episode didnt Zaros mention that the earis wanted to travel but they said “that it was only thanks to his influence” or something of the sort? I feel like it wouldve been the queen feeding that idea into them so they carry on her legacy.

Another thing i think was a bit odd was her letting the earis know that they beat Zaros in the trial after all it was supposed to be a secret ik she said it was okay and it wasn’t technically breaking the rules but it still seemed wrong.I suppose she wanted it to act as a bit of a push for them to keep working hard on the trials to become the ruler?

Anyway ive absolutely just been yapping nonsense and i feel like i havent made my opinion on her clear or portrayed my argument very well but in my head it all makes sense i promise😓.

First time posting here and not gonna lie, I think that sagau is awesome and all but uhh...

I kind of want to see a series on here where the reader or 'creator' is hunted down. NOT FOR THINKING THAT THEY'RE AN IMPOSTER THOUGH- but because they are the ones who are controlling their world. They know what constant pressure (Or may as well be torture for them-) you put them under.

The times you've made them filch supplies from the fatui? (Especially the younger ones?!) The times where you've made them fight groups of hilichurls that they absolutely did not want to fight? Don't even get them started on how they were forced to fight THE RAIDEN SHOGUN PUPPET?! OR LA SIGNORA?! and how you would put little klee or qiqi against these absolute monsters...

But that didn't even feel like that was the worst of it.

It was the way you talked about how you were going to pull for a new character or a person they knew that had a vision. A new person for you to control like a puppet, leading them to fights they would surely die- only to be revived again from this endless nightmare.

Oh, and how you would 'sacrifice' one of them before trying to grab onto another person like a fucking snake and never let go.

Jean and albedo were felt so destroyed when they had to watch klee jump off a high mountain, not in control of her own body- here eyes were blank but you could tell she was so scared. She wasn't revived until the next day and once you left, She was sobbing in her room for days and refused to sleep afraid she would die again- wondering what she had done wrong for you to hate her so much.

Everyone hated you. The fatui hated you. The abyss hated you. People would mourn their own friends and family if they received a vision, it felt like a death sentence waiting, knowing they would someday be enslaved by YOU. (Was it really your fault?)

They blamed you for everything bad that had happened to them. You were their creator. You made these decisions (Right?) You CHOSE for khanriah to be destroyed (Did you really?) hii, so im actually kind of new to the void state and ive been reading methods, explanations, succes stories and all that and i don't think i have any problem with like my actual self concept (?) but i think what's holding me back is just not really believing it?

i got into the shifting a while before i got into like actual loa and the void state and with shifting it was somehow very easy to believe in it and it made a lot of sense to me, i never doubted it or anything but when it comes to the void state it's different idk why. its not so much that i doubt it's possible to get into it cus it's just a deep meditative state but more about the stuff you can manifest and how its instant i guess?

I think I can see your logic, but if you believe in instant manifestation(which you do because you believe in shifting) what’s the difference in your perspective on the void state?

You also claim it has nothing to do with your self concept and if that’s true.. then your mentality should shift to it doesn’t matter if it sounds far fetched I can do it. Wether you have to tell yourself and believe you’re the first person to actually achieve the void state, or you’re just super powerful, all you should know is that you’re more than capable!

But I do understand it’s harder to imagine a tangible reality rather than the concept of nothing. It can also be scary, at least it was for me at first. I couldn’t imagine a place where nothing exists. What happens when you're confronted with a nothing? What does that mean? It was just too much for my mind to wrap itself around. To me, it seems like a paradox. It's not something I could understand or accept.

At the same time, some people accept the concept of the void state and don’t care about that aspect and are totally comfortable with it no problem! And that's OK. Everyone has their own beliefs and their own ways of interpreting the world.

Maybe you’re the former rather than the latter, I can’t really tell you where your mind is because I’m not you! If you really want to utilize the void and work through it, then great you have nothing stopping you and good luck! But you can do the exact same thing without the void and see where that takes you as well. Either way you’re limitless and your chances of success is inevitably 100% 💕

Tips for building your confidence in ed recovery (or in general)

*Disclaimer*: This is something that takes a lot of work, and you will not be able to achieve it overnight (if you can, good for you!!/gen). PLEASE do not be hard on yourself if you can't do it right away. It's a process and everyone takes a different amount of time to be confident in their body.

Stop talking badly about yourself (not only in your head, but to others, too). Criticizing your body, personality, and other traits will not get you anywhere. It will only make you feel worse. You can start off by being neutral about your body, then work your way up! If someone gives you a compliment, do not deny it. Thank them and move on.

Look up positive affirmations and practice them. I've found great things on Tumblr, but I'm sure they have them everywhere. Recite them even if you don't think they're true. After a while, you'll start to believe it.

Know that you are your own worst critic. I've had many a therapist say this to me, and they're right! People generally don't notice every single detail about a person. The thing you're insecure about? Yeah, that one. I'll bet that someone could walk past you on the street, or have a conversation with you and not notice. People are concerned with themselves. Take a moment to remember what you notice about other people. Probably not every minuscule detail, right? Right. If you go to the store, what are you thinking about? Probably what you need to get or how you look. Not about all the people you're walking past.

Give yourself some grace. Even the most confident people have bad days. You can have a wonderful body image day today, and tomorrow might be horrible. You don't have to love the way you look all the time.

Consume content that makes you feel good about yourself. Whatever that may be, do it, and do it often. A certain playlist, a YouTuber, your favorite pictures of yourself, etc.

Wear clothes that make you feel like your best self. Wether that be baggy items, things that are skin tight, or something super casual, if it makes you feel good about your body, wear it.

Take pictures of yourself. I know this one can be scary, but when I feel good, I want to take pictures! Usually, I have music on, and clothes I feel good in, and it just kind of happens. Don't be afraid to be in pictures. You're beautiful, and you deserve to feel beautiful.

I really do feel like 3H was written with the "subvert audience expectations" school of thought that you see from Ruin Johnson and Dumb & Dumber. Probably explains why I found the writing to be lackluster, since this is a crappy school of thought to have lol. If you're an experienced reader or viewer, and/or are attentive enough, there's very little that will actually surprise you in a story. That's not necessarily a bad thing because there are stories so good that it doesn't matter whether you've been spoiled or not. It's how you write those elements that matter, not what elements you're writing.

The Flame Emperor reveal in AM is good, not because we couldn't see the reveal coming, but because of how the reveal impacts the story - or more specifically, Dimitri as a character. I already knew that "Egg-guard is Flamey" before playing AM, and while I hadn't seen the 3H trailers before playing the game, I can imagine many who did were not surprised by how Dimitri turned out in part 2 of AM. Despite all this, AM's Flamey reveal is still considered to be a good moment. Why? Because it actually challenges the protagonist's beliefs, wether those beliefs be emotional or ideological.

Contrary to popular opinion, this is not the sole reason for Dimitri's psychosis. Even after the reveal, there is also him being falsely accused of killing his uncle, Dedue sacrificing his life to save him, and being on the run for five years to consider as well. The Flame Emperor reveal is one piece in a much larger puzzle that makes Dimitri's "fallen hero" arc work.

Conversely, the Flamey reveal in other routes...do not work at all lol. Claude and Egg-guard never liked each other, never trusted each other and have no history together...and that's not a bad thing! Having the same plot beat in different routes is fine so long as you know how said plot beat affects each route in different ways. The quote I brought up is in reference to Mr. Kusakihara being asked if it's a good idea for players to lose their FE Lord halfway into the BE route. If Mr. Kusakihara made the Flamey reveal as "a twist for the sake of a twist", then no wonder it falls flat in VW/SS/CF because it adds nothing to the plot or characters. The Beagles are a little shocked when Egg-guard shows up in the Holy Tomb w/an army and ready to kill them all, but this is never brought up again. Claude and Egg-guard both going "We're not so different, you and I!" rings hollow when all of VW shows how the two are nothing but different. Egg-guard being Flamey in these routes does nothing for the story because it doesn't elicit any development from the other characters, whether emotionally or ideologically.

Now, if the reveal did affect the characters in some way, then that would be one thing. Say, for example, if the supports between Egg-guard and Bernie were main story events rather than being skippable supports, and after the Flamey reveal Bernie questions how someone she "looked up to" and who treated her so well could commit such evil atrocities, and if Eggy tries to turn Bernie into a BBQ in SS but she survives, then she would question if she can trust anyone. Then the other Beagles would have to make her realize that just because Eggy was a no good, dirty traitor that doesn't mean that everyone is untrustworthy. Or something like that.

Another example could be that, while the reveal itself might not change Claude, emphasizing how Claude grows to believe in the power of friendship vs how Egg-guard stays rooted in believing that power only comes from yourself in the Flamey reveal could help give the plot beat a bit more depth in VW.

I’m kind of struggling as to wether or not I’m actually aromantic.

I have never experienced a crush or any romantic feelings for anyone ever: whether it be someone I know, or a celeb, or a character. Even when my peers and friends were all having crushes and entering relationships, it just didn’t happen to me, nor did I actively seek one out.

Now that I’m about to enter college, I’ve been questioning my sexuality and romantic attraction for sometime. I feel like deep down, I’m more attracted to the idea of romance than I am wanting to actually participate in it. And living independently for the rest of my life doesn’t sound that bad to me.

In addition, I’ve also being wondering if I’m on the asexual spectrum. I’ve never experienced sexual attraction, yet wouldn’t mind having a sexual relationship with someone.

I just really don’t know. There wasn’t been this massive epiphany for me when I found the term aromantic. I was just like “yeah, this is me, I guess.” I guess I’m asking, how does someone know that they are on the aromatic/asexual spectrum, and am I aromantic/asexual?

It is really difficult to find the absence of something, especially a feeling(?) like romantic or sexual attraction. If you've felt it, then you've felt it, but if you haven't there tends to be a lot of doubt, like what if you just haven't experienced it yet?

My honest advice is just to trust your gut. It's similar to that saying "If you've got to google whether or not you're something, you most likely are". If you have never experienced romantic or sexual attraction before, it is most likely that you're aro/ace. Even if you do eventually experience it, you might be on the aro/ace spectrum

Based off of your explanation, you're probably aspec in some way. Two disclaimers though:

Even if you do end up not being aspec, it does you no harm to be part of our community for a little while! I believe aspecs have lots of ideas and concepts that could be useful to non-aspecs in one way or another
