Thanks for the ask! I've never told anyone about it and I'm so excited I'll give you so much unnecessary context. Oops long post.

My artistic journey

I've enjoyed drawing since I was little, but mostly I just drew doodles in my notebook. Anime was a big inspiration for my style and I wanted to create digital illustrations too. When I was a teenager, I tried using a mouse and a PC, and my finger and some app on my phone, but the results were always terrible. I told myself it was because I didn't have a drawing tablet, so "of course my drawings will look ugly" and stopped trying.

However, I promised a discord friend that I would do a drawing for her in December 2020. So, I downloaded this app called "Ibis Paint" on my phone and, with all my effort despite my lack of ability, I drew Harry using the app and my finger jskldhfsa

I was so hesitant and nervous about showing it to her. I could tell it wasn't pretty, just "weird and awkward", and I felt embarrassed. But she told me it was good (LIES) and somehow convinced me to share it with others on the server. Despite feeling shy, I shared it anyway. To my surprise, three people told me it was pretty! I appreciated their kindness.

It wasn't until March 2021 that I returned to drawing digitally and on a more consistent basis. I was mainly doing fanart for a game that I liked.

In May or June (I can't remember exactly), I stumbled upon an artist who created incredible art using Ibis Paint. And I realized that I didn't need a drawing tablet, just more practice and skill, because if they could do it, then I could do it too! That was the moment I began taking art more seriously (still as a hobby, though!).

Due to the pandemic, I had a lot of free time, which I used to watch a lot of tutorials, practice gesture and follow the advice of artists I liked. With every drawing I made, I could see an improvement, which motivated me even more to keep on working hard (drawing became a source of comfort during those depressing times. It was just really fun).

In late 2021, I mentioned to a childhood friend that I wanted to buy a drawing tablet, and he asked me if I wanted his old one, which I excitedly accepted. Finally, I had the tool that would make my art incredible… or so I thought! I was terrible with it. For the first few months, I preferred Ibis paint and my finger. But I eventually got the hang of it! What I love the most are the multiple brushes and pressure settings. I'm such a hoarder, even if I don't use all of them ksklajdl.

In 2022, I participated in several bigbangs and zines, but what I'm most excited to talk about is the tomarry comic that I started.

My tomarrymort art

I've read tomarrymort fics since 2017, but I wasn't active on the fandom. In 2020, I joined a writer's server (all love to Amanda) and met the friend I mentioned earlier. So technically, you could say my love for tomarrymort lead me here kek

Even though my main inspiration was a game, here is some fic fanart I made.

This is my first tomarry art (July 27th, 2021). It's a scene from Genius by the Numbers. I think it looks weird kjdshk

I also made art for A Mating of Convenience, what started in beautiful rooms, Dripping Fingers and for Ale, beloved. (I think I've never posted these before.)

Then two things happened: I saw comic on ao3 (If I'll Ever See You by festivewind) and I was like "WOW! THAT'S SO COOL" and "omg we can upload comics!"

The second thing was me being rejected as a webtoon background artist (naturally, as I wasn't good enough for the specifics) and the spite made me want to do my own so I could improve my weakness (the grind never stops 💪🔥).

I read some of my old notes for story ideas (I'm not good at writing but I still had some snippets of stories). And boom! Love triangle but the 3 of them are idiots (affectionate). Fun fact: the original version had a murder, someone in Azkaban and someone hating the other forever :D

Don't pretend started as an anonymous work because some of my friends knew my AO3 username and I was afraid of screwing up the format (I don't know html) and looking like a fool DKJALKSJL I was also afraid of possible backlash (I'm an over-thinker).

None of that happened (comments were very kind and nice!) But idk, it was nice being anon. I'm awkward and shy and I usually don't know what to say to compliments (Sometimes a "thank you" doesn't feel enough but that's all my brain can offer 😭)

Then I made some tomarry christmas art and shared it on TRoR discord server and someone asked me if I had Tumblr and I said no but that gave me the idea of making one.

Since I planned Don't pretend as being a long story, I realized it'd take me a long time to finish it and I wanted to contribute to the complete tomarrymort works! That's the reason I took a pause and made A Soulmate Like You.

Anyway, I made this tumblr on January 2023, and the plan was to fill it with art so, eventually, when I found the courage to make my works non-anon, I could link to this page. Except that I posted one drawing, and that was enough for isalisewrites to know it was me HJKASDJLA. So I stopped the anonymous thing.

I'm still not used to being "perceived" 👁️👁️ but I've learned it's not bad. People have been really kind and I think I'm less shy now! I'm very happy to be part of this fandom with lots of kind and supportive people and incredible fics and fanart <3

Alive Really Isn't Your Color by @meles-merrivale (T, 6k)

A beautifully written, bittersweet take on Harry's life after the war and what it means to fall in love with someone you're supposed to hate and who's supposed to be dead. There's so many stunning, evocative lines from this fic that I could quote, but I'll leave you with this one: "How did Harry ever think Voldemort didn’t understand emotion? The man feels everything, feels it with his whole body, twisting his face and coiling his magic and tearing apart the world with the force of it."

This was GRIPPING from beginning to end. The author does an incredible job with showcasing Harry's struggling emotional state after the war, and his grief is just so palpable. Harry and Voldemort's dynamic is gorgeous here.

Time loops beloved! This was such a clever take on the classic graveyard encounter, and there's nothing more that I love seeing than Harry losing it with every successive time loop.

Gaunt by @wixen-writes-tomarry (M, 8k)

A sense of uneasiness pervades this fic — lots of haunting prose and elements of psychological horror — it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. A must-read if you like alternate takes on Harry encountering another one of Tom's horcruxes (in this case, the ring horcrux).

In Your Image by @perhaps-sunlight (T, 11k)

An AU loosely based on the Portrait of Dorian Gray, with Tom as a painter who's found immortality and eternal youth by stealing his victims' souls away and what happens when he sets his eyes on Harry— very suspenseful and gripping throughout, and I love how it cleverly weaves in elements of canon that were very fun to recognize!

Harry having a masochistic streak is a characterization that I adore, and this fic does an amazing job delving into this aspect of his psychosexual development that by the time he meets the locket horcrux, it all goes downhill from there. It's also so funny and written in a snappy way, I laughed out loud at the ending.

Love at First Sight by @dividawrites (E, 5k)

One of the funniest things I've ever read in this ship — every single line of Harry's desperate pleading to Voldemort had me howling. And it wouldn't be a Divida fic without super hot smut at the end (featuring! actual! hemipenes!!) The best take on creature inheritance trope I've read.

My Decorated Horcrux by @youknowmevj (E, 4k)

I love Voldemort wins AUs; it's fascinating to explore the dynamic that he'd have with Harry in his new regime, and oh, does this fic deliver! Voldemort adorning Harry and showing him off is always a treat, plus Harry remaining his defiant self — so many fun elements in this PWP.

One of the most haunting things I've read this year. Voldemort's POV is surprisingly heartbreaking; actually, the whole fic is heartbreaking. I don't want to give too much away, but this is an EXCELLENT take on the trapped-in-a-room trope.

On the rejection of love by Baryshnikov (T, 2k)

A really interesting exploration of Tom being aroace and what that means in terms of being in a relationship with Harry. I love this author's series on aroace Tom overall; it was hard to pick a favorite!

Snappy banter and really hot smut in this PWP, a perfect generation mashup that showcases a great depiction of how Harry doesn't actually hate Tom as much as he claims 😊

Personal Assistant by @phantomato (E, 10k)

This one is an absolute masterpiece, an incredible study in suspense. It's a really unique take on a universe where Voldemort never comes back after his initial downfall on Oct 31, 1981, and features a very realistic depiction on who Harry grows to be if he didn't have the formative childhood adventures that we saw in the books. There's an incredibly skillfully crafted mystery at the heart of this story, and when it all comes together in the end, I screamed and gasped and immediately reread it looking for clues that Phantomato had layered in all throughout.

Dream sex with Voldemort! The writing is so ethereal and floaty and poetic, packed full of intensely sensual phrases like, "Its shadowy form sinks deeper into Harry's body, soothing him. Harry can feel it everywhere, like ice through his veins, like they’re two halves of the same whole." It's the perfect dream sex sequence fic 💖

Sola Fide by @crowcrowcrowthing (M, 8k)

So very atmospheric and a fascinating depiction of ritual magic and Voldemort as an actual god! AUs are a really great way to explore what makes the core of a character — that even if it's the characters thrust in different circumstances, you can still tell who they are at their core, and this fic does a fantastic job of reimagining Harry and Voldemort meeting under different circumstances.

Something New by @itsevanffs (E, 2k)

A fresh (and super hot!) take on A/B/O dynamics, featuring both Alpha Harry and Alpha Tom, with both of them overriding their natural instincts in different ways in order to be with each other. The control, the restraint, the desperation, the taboo-ness of what they're doing within their society — all amazing elements that have made this into one of my favorite A/B/O dynamics that I've read. Alpha/Alpha is so underrated! (Also, not a tag that can be filtered yet on AO3, for some reason).

This was SO clever and funny, and an amazing play on Harry being MoD. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say this fic perfectly captures how murder is the ultimate Tomarry love language.

Incredibly beautiful and poetic prose. The mysterious backstory behind the Tomarry established relationship had me on the edge of my seat. This is one I'll reread over and over again for the haunting and atmospheric prose.

The gift by @metalomagnetic (E, 1.6k)

The perfect follow-up to 'Either must die' told from Voldemort's POV — surprisingly sweet and, not surprisingly, very sexy. As always, Metalo's fics pack a huge emotional punch; this one accomplishes it in just 1600 words — every single sentence is emotionally significant and not a single word is wasted - a must-read if you've read EMD.

Harry pining for Voldemort after the war. A lovely, haunting, perfect depiction of dream sex, where you've left wondering what is a dream and what is real.

The Ties That Bind by @mosiva (E, 8k)

Mosiva writes an amazing Harry and Tom dynamic, as well as consistently delivers on great smut, and Tom here is a gem. This fic showcases Tom at his manipulative (sexiest) best, and the progression of Harry growing more drawn to Tom feels very natural and unrushed. Also, did I mention how hot the smut is? The author has other chaptered works that are worth checking out as well, if you like this dynamic!

The Train Station at Forever by @vdoshu (T, 1k)

This is one of the most deeply emotional takes I've seen on the endless reincarnation cycles theme (usually due to Harry being MoD and Voldemort being tied to Harry's soul). In just 1000 words, Doshu does an amazing job of capturing the angst and torment of Harry and Tom achieving "immortality" in this manner, and left me in shivers.

We Still Have Time by @duplicitywrites (T, 9k)

This was SO BEAUTIFUL and SO SAD, an incredible depiction of holding onto someone you love even after death, and I can't even think about this fic without wanting to weep. One of the most heartwrenching things I've read in all of fanfic, in all of my years reading fanfic. I very rarely cry reading fics, and god, I cry every time I've reread this fic. This is duplicity angst at its finest.

Wrath of the Lamb by @penmanner (M, 6k)

One of the most unique takes I've seen on Harry time-traveling to Tom's time in the 1940s. Something goes wrong, and Harry has amnesia but still a sense of purpose. The author's writing is gorgeous and poetic and does an amazing job of illustrating how disorienting Harry's experience is. I absolutely LOVE the amnesia trope, and this fic does it amazing justice.

This PWP was a delight to read. Voldemort and Harry trapped in a room together and the best option is to fuck each other? YES. Sign me up. The smut is extended and memorable and oh so glorious.

Voldemort crossed space to find Harry. Literally. Those snowflakes at the end of Entwined are forever in my mind, like a moving photograph.

Such wonderful characterization and story, of how they grow closer in their marriage. Voldemort is fantastically written.

Run Boy Run by @youknowmevj

A full 5k words of a hide and seek and chase scene, predator/prey of Harry trying to escape his snakey husband (they're married, your honour, Voldemort put a ring on it!) who enjoys the chase. The strategies Harry uses are so well-done and well thought of. The hiding and running are so well done and so wonderfully described in detail, I was holding my breath the entire time. How Harry hides and how intense it all is, and when Voldemort finds him it gets deliciously steamy. It ends with the married couple going back to bed with Vee holding Harry’s hand. There are even details about the current wizarding world sprinkled in how it is under Voldemort's rule. The best hide and seek Harrymort fic ever written. Wonderful one-shot.

This fic is the Harrymort treasure trove. The first chapter starts in the Malfoy Manor Scene and Voldemort manages to make it before Harry escapes. And Harry, the courageous, feral, favourite Gryffindor... punches the Dark Lord in the family jewels. The Heir of Slytherin sure won't be making any more Heirs of Slytherin now. xD If that doesn’t get you reading the fic, I don't know what will. It's a classic.

Canon Divergence from 6th Year. Voldemort finds out Harry is his Horcrux after 5th Year and tells Harry he will come for him. Harry, bless his impulsive brain, leaves the safety of the wards and is captured and put into enchanted sleep. This is a Tomarrymort treasure trove.

Bring tissues for the sequel. You’ll need them.

Heir Apparent by @monsieurclavier

Harry time travels and crashed into Voldemort’s home. He speaks Parseltongue so Voldemort assumes that Harry is his son. After all, only his heir could speak Parseltongue. Harry goes along with it. Daddymort is very touchy with his son and is also a big sugar daddy to him, and a SIMP to boot. Also, Abraxas is lucky to have Morgane as his wife. Morgane Malfoy, ladies and gentlemen, slays in this fic. Absolutely. Slays. Queen. Also, Bellatrix vying for Harry (I think she'll jump him at some point, actually physically jump on the poor lad) and Vee being jealous and possessive is hilarious. A detail I love in the fic are the wizarding clothes, I love their descriptions.

Even though Harry had spoken parseltongue with the best of intentions before, no matter what he did it always came out sounding sinister to them. Something evil, like he was plotting their demise. He might as well be speaking a demonic language for all it mattered.

The look in his friend's eyes told him enough. They were afraid.

"We meant to write more, but Dumbledore told us not to. It was too dangerous," Hermione tried to explain.

"Fuck what Dumbledore said. We could have found a way," Harry snapped and his friends flinched.

"Harry, calm down. We can't understand you." Ron tried to put on a brave face, but the stiffness in his shoulders gave him away.

"Fuck you. Next time you can sleep in a cupboard all summer. Might do you some good."

I'm laughing to myself because this snippet is so misleading without giving any real spoilers. BUT all three are 7 sentences long, which I thought was cool for this:

Snippet #1: Miss Led

“Hermione! Oi, where are you?!” Ron called in a second.

The three of them should have left when things were dire. They should have dragged Harry with them, no matter what his opinions. Because Voldemort could scour the world, but they could have had a life away, on the run but alive and well away from Britain. It was a horrid, selfish thought, but one that speared her through with the difference it could have made.

Evading problems seemed simple, because it was. It could only be a delay, because true life does not entertain childish, ill-thought-out hopes for long.

Snippet #2: The Red Flag

Harry opened his eyes slowly, feeling the two tears trickle out the corner of his eyes, across his nose.

“That’s who my blood-traitor cousin was,” Bellatrix’s voice came faraway above him. “A shell. He escaped Azkaban as a coward and was fated to be a dead man.”

Harry stayed silent, mostly because he didn’t want to hear anymore, didn’t want to prompt more discussion about Sirius.

“You depend on blood-traitors and Mudbloods, and you fear seeing the truth of their disgrace. You hope for a fiction. My Master was real. Worth serving.”

and #3: What's Past is Present

The sun was rising and he had vanished from the groups of students around her. Hermione never believed he would go to Voldemort’s call... it was unthinkable.

Wasn’t it?

Bellatrix’s shrill jeering fell to the background as Hermione turned to look at Ron beside her. His face was a stone, numb, his expression completely locked. Hermione wanted to grab his hand, something to show that despite knowing that Bellatrix might kill her if she saw her in the crowd, they could still get through this. They needed to get through this, to find Harry, find him even if the worst had happened.

My favourite rarepairs:

Harry Potter/Tracey Davis: Tracey is just as much of a blank slate character as the oft-shipped Daphne, but has less fanon tropes applied to her, and her status as a halfblood could put her in some interesting positions.  Alas, she’s rarely used as anything besides a foil to Daphne, let alone shipped with Harry.  I personally enjoy headcanoning Tracey as having severe ADHD, making her a foil to my headcanon of Daphne being autistic.

fem!Voldemort/Bellatrix: Honestly, Bellatrix does tend to read as more of a lesbian to me, and I think that a lesbian version of this ship would be really good.  Alas, most fics that genderbend Voldemort do so with the sole intention of shipping her with Harry.  I don’t have any problems with that, but I do want to see more variety.  My fic, Unseen Perspective, is probably the closest I’ve seen to this pairing existing.

Harry/Delphini: There’s a lot of fun to be had here.  It puts Harry in a similar compromising position Tomarry but without potentially defusing the entire plot by removing the antagonist.  Unfortunately, Delphini would need to be born earlier for the fic to really juice it for all the drama it’s worth, and Delphini’s origin in Cursed Child is already contentious enough that many authors would rather ignore her than explore her character in different circumstances.  It would be fun for more fics to just use the “Voldemort’s daughter character” without necessarily tying her to Cursed Child.

Lily/James/Sirius: idk what it is, but I LOVE seeing these three in a triad together.  I like it a lot in the backstory for To Reach Without, and I remember Malarkia alluding to it as well, which really excited me.  I think it would be fun to see more often, either as backstory or in a fic.

Hermione/Daphne: I’m not sure why these two aren’t paired together given the relative popularity of Harry/Daphne fics, but I’ve only ever found a small handful of good fics in the pairing.  Despite the tropes associated with the Haphne pairing not always being the best, there’s a charm to a lot of them and I’d love to see lesbian versions with Hermione as the female lead instead.

fem!Harry/fem!Draco: Only seen this one two or three times, but it’s been consistently enjoyable each time.  I thought I had an issue with Drarry for a long time, but I think I mostly just disliked the way most slash fics are written, since they made me feel vaguely uncomfortable and sometimes a little dysphoric.  Making the pairing into a lesbian one made me realise that and I’ve kept a casual eye on the pairing.

So this is the last one of Mermay, still in its ugly phase (Also the way merpeople look is valid, I just don't like their design jsdjlakd)

There's this scene in the movie where, after Harry saves Ron and Gabrielle and is attacked by squid creatures, the gillyweed stops working. He begins to sink and he seems to be losing consciousness. Until he suddenly recovers and casts a spell to get out of the water.

In this mermaid AU, Tom saw Harry struggling and he was the one who made him recover (maybe with a kiss?)

Idk the specifics. Maybe Merman!Tom was the result of a horcrux in the Black Lake gone wrong? Maybe he wants to learn magic so badly that he wants to become a human, and he's an outcast among the merpeople because of that. Maybe he saw Harry threatening the merpeople with his wand, using his magic against the other lake creatures and Tom hated him because he wanted to do that and life was so unfair.

And yet, he saved him because he was also captivated.

Okay, I couldn't decide what to send, because be proud would be spoilers, your fingers seek mine would make everyone cry, so I decided on six lies and one truth.

Premise: An agreement is made on the dawn of 2nd May, 1998. Harry gives Voldemort victory in return of stopping the hunt of muggle-borns and letting them normally into the wizarding society, and in return, Harry will never raise her wand against him nor he against her. Voldemort agrees. The vow is made, a contract signed, and Harry leaves wizarding society in Britain. After six months, she leaves England to travel the world. Voldemort didn't think Harry would ever leave. So, he tracks Harry’s whereabouts down every month, trying to convince her to come back to England.

“Well, thanks to you, we have forever, and if you grow bored, you’ve got plenty of other things to do!” hollered Harry.

“I don't want to do anything else, you stubborn witch!” shrieked Voldemort. “Says the most stubborn wizard in the history of the world!” hollered Harry, trying to kick him off her, the grass of the field mildly itching at the back of her shirt. But Voldemort was too heavy, and the kicks all missed. “You selfish old man, leave me to live!"  Staring up into red eyes that seemed to see only her, Harry felt tears edge at her eyelashes, voice breaking, turning hoarse. “You have what you want! You won! Leave me be! Let me live a life without you!” “Noooo!” Voldemort cried, the word filled with deep agony — one Harry felt like an echo in her soul, like someone stabbed her in the heart — like the mere idea of what Harry said brought him immense pain, like it was killing him. Voldemort strikes out like a snake, white hands lunging, wrapping around Harry's wrists like two snakes, long skeletal fingers coiling around them, pinning them to the ground. Harry never realized how tall Voldemort was until he was on top of her, casting an immense shadow over her, creating a shade for Harry with his own body, protecting her from the glare of the shining sun. “You’re —” sneered Voldemort. Whatever it was Harry was, Voldemort could not articulate it, howling in rage instead. Harry felt the same.  He looks beautiful in the sun, thought Harry, mesmerized, staring up at the waxy skin of Voldemort's white face gleaming like a pearl. Then… I want to kiss him.
