I need to get my shit together. 
It’s been a while I haven’t posted anything.  Truth is, I had a pretty good row until last week. I’m down approx 12kg since the beginning, which is good except it took me a lot of time to get there while during my last ‘diet’, it took me something like 2.5 month. Anyway. 
Last week, I got kind of overwhelmed, and drowned that.. in food. Which isn’t really surprising since I have been diagnosed with bulimia few years ago. But I managed to contain the symptoms over the years. Except for last week. 
We’re talking pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches and not light ones. I really have to get my shit together again.

Weight loss rewards
Because sometimes you have got to reward yourself, I chose to put up a list of rewards that I’m allowed to get myself once those objectives are reached. 
# - 105 kgs (232 lbs) : New pair of jeans (or shorts.. it’s getting hot) # - 100 kgs (220 lbs) : Allowed to run two days in a row from time to time # - 95 kgs (210 lbs) :  New cool as hell running shoes  # - 92.5 kgs (204 lbs) : Sport clothing shopping day # - 90 kgs (198 lbs) : To be defined # - 85 kgs (187 lbs) : To be defined

As said in my previous post, last week had kind of been perfect food wise. It was also a very nice week regarding sports ! 
3x running  1x squash  1x padel tennis 1x cycling (40k)
I’ve really missed cycling, it probably was at least 1.5-2 years since I cycled that much. Overall it felt kind of nice to do something else besides running.

Yeah I know, I don’t really look that good on that pic. But give me a break, I had just cycled for 40k. 
Let’s see if this week also meets my expectations. So far I’ve done a game of squash and a game of badminton, both were very sweaty which is kind of what I’m looking for. I also wanted to run but :  1/ My legs were really sore and I really try to avoid doing too much since I’ve been injured in the past 2/ It’s really getting hot out there, almost too hot to run. 
Temperatures should cool down tomorrow, so I’m going to give it a shot. I’d like to run a 10k again, and my next objectives clearly include quitting vaping as feel it hurts my breath (not at much as cigarettes though, but still). 
More on that later folks !

Food.
This week has been kind of perfect food-wise to be honest (that’s until the week-end came of course, but I’ll get to that). I’ve been trying some new stuff, new recipes etc. and I couldn’t be more happy of what I’ve done. 
I’m not much of a cook so this was a huge step forward for me.

This is officially going to be my new breakfast :  - 200g low fat strawberry yogurt - 1 cinnamon powdered banana - 1 crumbed cereal bar Filling, delicious, pretty healthy I’m guessing. 
When it comes to lunch & dinner, I’ve discovered those amazing veggie ravioli. Bought a pack to test them out and was kind of disappointed because there were only six pieces in the pack but MAN. I was completely filled after three of em.

They contain spinach, carrots, onions, peas and other veggies, can’t remember the exact list. With a dash of herbs, two boiled eggs and turkey, it was a very nice low carb high protein meal !

This week is off to a good start. Apart from my 5k to start it with on Monday, I also played squash yesterday and I’m gonna try out padel tennis tomorrow. Let’s see how that goes. I should also be running again (either tomorrow in the evening or on Friday).

I’ve really been enjoying veggies lately. That was yesterday evenings dinner, with two slices of turkey breast and of course some light dressing otherwise it’d have been to dry!

Rough day at work, thought I’d wash it off my thoughts with a small run. Temperature was pretty high and, to be honest, I don’t really like that kind of weather because, not only is it super hot, but it’s also super dry, which is even more unbearable.

Anyway, 5k in approx. 30 minutes. Back in the days my personal best was 24 minutes, I’d never thought I’d say that a few months ago, but that sounds reachable again now. That 10k on Saturday gave me so much motivation !
I’m still kinda scared of the scale, which is something I clearly should not be afraid of. I know I’m waaay to concerned by that number, even if, on the other side, I know it doesn’t mean anything and that some dudes who weigh as much as I do are freaking hunks. 
Do you guys have methods to keep track of your progress other than weighing in?

On last week.
Oh wow, so much to tell. I got back from vacation in Mallorca, very popular destination for us Europeans, especially Germans and Dutch, but I just love it there. Everything is just party and sunshine. We actually got to see Martin Garrix there, one of my favorite DJs in the world, check out the video below, I’m the one who recorded it!

On the weight journey side, it was kinda rough. Of course vacation didn’t help with all the alcohol and all inclusive accommodation in Mallorca. Haven’t had the courage to weight-in since, I’ll probably do that tomorrow or some time next week. 
My wallet got stolen there, so I had a bit of trouble going back, but I’m really used to it (3rd time in 4 years I have to re-do my papers). But all in one, that week was pretty awesome. 
There’s one other very positive side to this week :  Yesterday I ran my first 10k in YEARS. I was so proud of myself.

Yeah ok, it wasn’t my best time but still, I mean 10 freaking kilometers !! I feel like I can achieve so much more now ! Of course, my legs are so sore today I sometimes like to chop them off so I don’t feel that excruciating fatigue all day long but it was totally worth it.

Last saturday I ran 8k. My first since I tried to get back on track. I am so happy about that. For those of you who are regulars on here, it’s the run I was talking about when I said that I thought I’d be able to run for longer distances.

On my latest runs
Traveling for work has its perks. Of course, it’s pretty difficult to keep eating healthily, even more when you’re eating collectively with clients who don’t give a F about your current journey. Still, they all tend to interrogate me when you order a salad at a steakhouse restaurant. But I don’t care. 
Back to perks, I discover amazing new places.  Recently we’ve (collegues and I) been travaling a lot to southern France between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. The landscapes are pretty nice :

I apologize for poor quality, but maintaining your phone stable while running is more difficult than you’d imagine. 
Of course, when I’m back in my home region, I also see a lot of amazing things. Plus, when you run in the morning before going to work, the lighting is simply amazing, especially when the sun rises.

This was actually taken at sunset, right after a cool down run we did after playing squash for an hour with a collegue/friend of mine. The picture below on the other hand was taken in the middle of the day, I find it simply amazing :

I quite enjoy running hills these days, it makes me feel like I’m doing a lot of progress when I go back to flatter terrains. Southern France is amazing for these kind of runs. 
I’ve been doing a lot of progress running wise. Last week I still struggled to go above 5k but now I think I’d be able to run 7-8k without too much trouble. 
Later today I’m going to run with my aunt again and we’ll probably end up running some hills. More on that later on !

(almost-) Weekly weigh-in
It’s been rough tracking my progress recently, for two reasons :  1 - I’m rarely ever home these days. I travel a lot because of work and the places I go don’t really have a scale. 2 - When I’m home, it’s almost always after a restaurant dinner, which is clearly not the best time for a weigh-in.
But today I managed to wake up at my place without having spent the night before out. So here it is : 
Weigh-in - 2017-06-17:
Previous weight : 109,7kg (242 lbs) Current weight : 106,5kg (235 lbs) Total loss : 7.5 kg (16,5 lbs)
Overall I’m pretty happy with these numbers, mostly because I think it’s not really accurate. Indeed, I have the feeling that I’ve been building muscle these days, ergo weight is not really representative of my loss. I can clearly see a difference in my jeans and clothing in general. 
Let’s keep doing this !

On recent morning runs
I’ve come to really appreciate morning runs, for several reasons.  First is that it’s the only moment of the day when the heat is bearable these days. Otherwise I have to face 30°C temperatures and I end up sweating as if I just came out of a pool and feeling a little dizzy.

Second, Strasbourg is really a beautiful city to run in. The new constructions recently built over the Rhine and thus representing even more the friendship between France and Germany are really beautiful.

I ran with one of my bosses before going to work. It was freakishly nice to exhaust ourselves a little before working our asses of during the day at work. Him being CTO and I being a CAO, it feels good to find ourselves outside of work for a little run. 
In fine we ended up running for about 40 minutes, which was perfect.

Today was a pretty good day. Was supposed to run in the morning but felt a little dizzy when I woke up, so I decided to postpone until later on.

5k just to stretch the legs, it was pretty nice, plus the weather was pretty amazing and the light shining in the forest. About 30 minutes, for once I did not launch my running app :D
After that, nice little diner.

Peas and carrots, mushrooms, onions and sliced turkey breast.  431 kcal but very delicious, I would definitely recommend it as an evening meal.

Started my diet about two weeks ago.  I’ve came to rediscover the pleasures of veggies, here was yesterday’s dinner. Cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, pickles, with a light dressing of tzatziki and some rolled ham. Simple, yet tasty, and very low in calories.

I’ve never been a great fan of rest days (probably a reason why I got hurt so much in the past). This time, I’ve decided to take things slowly, in order not to hurt myself which would hurt my objectives of weight loss. 
So, yesterday, I’ve decided to take a walk in the forest nearby my appartment.

It was actually pretty nice and, even better, it was perfect for a rest day. I walked for about 50 minutes, which lead to a 550 kcal loss (which, I have to say is pretty unexpected). 
On to a new week now, let’s make that one count too.  Although, I have to say it’s going to be pretty complicated to keep on track for two reasons. 
First is, on Thrusday, I participate in what we call here a marche gourmande, roughly translated: a foodie walk ; which is bascially meaning that you walk and stop 5-6 times a day to eat and drink wine. But eh, at least you’re walking.. 
Second is, on Friday, my best friend and roommate is celebrating his birthday, which means drinking, which means calories. 
Oh well, we’ll see how that goes.
