yeah sex is great but have you ever texted your partner to meet you at your favorite hiking trail and you meet up, beginning the hike at an absolutely beautiful hill, holding each other’s hands and admiring your surroundings where the sun is shining and hitting your skin just right and surprisingly there are no pests or bugs along the trail and the trees seemed somehow extra beautiful today, and you’re not really saying anything to each other because things just seem too perfect to interrupt and you get to a perfect spot and decide to sit on a rock and relax for a couple minutes and you’re laughing and smiling while recalling the story of your first date and your partner isn’t responding they just keep looking at you with wide eyed admiration so you keep talking to fill the silence. the silence is really bothering you though, because you’re just now starting to realize how unusual and weird it is to not see or hear any bugs or creatures on this trail you’ve hiked at least 10 times by now. you brush that feeling off and pull out your phone to photograph the moment and keep it as a memory but notice a text that you got 30 minutes ago (who knew u would even have service out here?) from your partner saying that they have been waiting by the trail entrance for a while and you haven’t showed up yet so they’re leaving and there’s a sense of panic as you turn to look at your partner who still hasn’t said a single world to you and see that they’re smiling a little too widely and breathing in a strange pattern. their eyes opened so wide it seems like they’re going to pop right out of their head, and that feeling of pure terror sinks in as you put two and two together that whatever you’ve been hiking with and talking to this whole time isn’t your partner and suddenly your little hike isn’t as fun as it was just about ten seconds ago
