My SVSSS/Chobits dream

I legit had this dream but someone might find it inspiring for a fic, so feel free to take the idea and run like the cops are chasing you. (Just link it to me later)

So last night I had this dream that was like if Chobits and SVSSS got mashed together.

Basically I found Shen Jiu, who was a robot like Chi, all wrapped up and chucked out in the trash of the Qiu estate, like Chi at the beginning of Chobits.

Anyway I took him home and started fixing him up. Unlike Chi his “on�� button was his navel. He was in a very bad state. He was very broken and sad and dying. Obviously he’d been horrifically abused by Qiu Jianluo and I had to replace lots of parts. He was partially awake for some of it and wondered why I was saving him and wanted me to just let him shut down forever. But Jiumei deserves everything so I was committed to my task!!

I don’t remember all of the dream but I remember that he was scared that if Qiu Jianluo saw him back in working order he’d try and claim “ownership” and take him back and i was like “we’ve had to replace so many of your inner parts, if it reaches at least 40% then you would count as a different robot/cyborg/ai whatever and I have all the receipts for the parts we had to buy so you will never go back to that abusive fuck”

For some reason my brain was sure of this 40% rule which was a law in dream land but I think is a misremembering about some vague copyright rule about original vs derivative works from reality. But dream logic, it was a law in dream logic persicom robot land.

Anyway most of the dream was like cute domestic stuff (if you find replacing the inner parts and mechanisms of your robot!blorbo in the style of Battle Angel Alita as cute) and trauma recovery for Jiu-mei.

Basically Shen Yuan had enough money to sugar daddy Shang Qinghua into writing the novel right the first time. The fic could alternate between the new novel and the real world or just be a cute get-together fic about a writer and his biggest (anti?) fan falling into a relationship. Could absolutely include some hilarious cosplay attempts and fandom shit. Could also include sections with online comments of Qinghua’s latest chapters.

It's kind of fucked how the original Scandal in Bohemia is essentially about a woman being harassed by her wealthy and politically powerful ex when all she wants to do is mind her business and move on with her life, and every single adaptation that isn't a line-by-line recreation of the short story turns her into a self-serving Femme Fatale con artist criminal, like fuck the only crime she committed was being poorer than her boyfriend.

She doesn't want to fuck sherlock and sherlock doesn't want to fuck her either.

With all due respect sir, and I know you've been through a hell of a lot of elections, the politics of this country have been shifting more right wing for a couple of years now and I doubt .4% of people voting for a third party would have made a fucking difference when no one in this country even listens to the popular vote

I expected that many would miss the point of the post I made—even though I literally said in the post "The point wasn't to get votes for a third party candidate"—screenshot in case you missed it:

It is voter suppression. It is always voter suppression. That was the point. It is to keep people home. The third party candidates, the fantasy candidates ("How can you vote for x candidate when theoretical y candidate who isn't in this election is so much more liberal?!"), that's the distraction. It is always about getting voters to stay home and not cast a vote. I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

Even in cases where a specific third party candidate's vote total might have made the difference (in 2000 Bush won Florida by 537 votes while Ralph Nader, many of whose voters were more allied with Gore than Bush, received 97,421 votes), the answer is never "Why did you vote for a third party candidate?", it's "Why didn't more Floridians come out to vote?" After all, with many of those third party voters, IF they were forced to choose between two candidates only, maybe they wouldn't have voted at all, so it wouldn't have made a difference. In this year's election, most third party votes went to candidates that leaned conservative, so if they weren't there, maybe Trump gets more votes in those states, not fewer.

No, listen, I don't know how to make this clearer: THE PROPAGANDA IS TO GET VOTERS NOT TO VOTE. It is ALWAYS to get voters not to vote. How they do it changes with the election, but the goal is always to get voters to stay home.

Also, in case you think I'm blaming Gen-Z, I was hoping referring to the history would set the concern aside (they weren't there in 2000). It's not a generation's fault. It is simply failing to recognize propaganda and what it is ultimately trying to get you to do. In this case, it's the same thing every time: to not vote. The liberals vs. ultra-liberals thing is a fiction to drive down liberal turnout.

I know it's been said many times, but if voting weren't important, Republicans wouldn't care about it. Truly, when they don't care about voting, that's the time to truly be frightened, because it means at that point voting is no longer relevant to the process.

On twitter I’m seeing dozens of threads from Black activists warning people against burnout, giving all sorts of useful tips about preventing and managing it for the sake of a long-term, sustainable effort.

On tumblr I’m seeing a hell of a lot of young white kids yelling at anyone who actually follows those steps, and acting like burnout is a moral falling rather than a well-proven psychological phenomenon.

Be careful who you get your information from. Don’t let guilt lead you to make choices that will harm both you and the movement.

I was a student at UC Berkeley during the 2000 presidential election. The propaganda at that time was that Al Gore and George W. Bush were exactly the same candidate wearing different ties. There was no difference between them, so you should vote for Ralph Nader.

In 2016 the propaganda was Bernie Bros—and going both ways ("Hillary is an establishment candidate! You're not a real liberal if you don't vote for Bernie!" and also "Bernie will never win! If you EVER supported Bernie you're not a real liberal!").

This time the propaganda was Gaza. "How can you vote for a candidate that is a part of an administration responsible for GENOCIDE?!"

The thing with propaganda is it's always true—kind of. You can go right down the list and see the truth in all of these things:

Both Al Gore and George W. Bush were establishment candidates. Al Gore was the sitting vice president and a career politician and George W. Bush was the son of former president and vice president George Bush, who himself was vice president to Ronald Reagan.

HIllary Clinton was an establishment politican, the wife of a former president, and the sitting secretary of state. Bernie Sanders didn't have the party support to become the Democratic Party candidate on account of his history of independence.

Biden and Harris were in office during the Hamas attack on October 7th, 2023, and the US government has offered continued support to Israel in its couteroffensive.

Those things are true. But the true things were being used to distract the distractible from other arguably more important true things, e.g. that Al Gore's actual policies were more liberal than George W. Bush's; Hillary Clinton's policies were more liberal than Donald Trump's; and a Kamala Harris-led government was going to be better for Palestine than a Donald Trump-led government.

The goal with the propaganda each time was exaclty the same. It wasn't to get votes for a third party candidate or change policy or help Gaza.

The goal was to get liberals not to vote.

And it worked. Every time.

It'll work again, too, if we don't teach voters how to recognize this. It's pretty obvious though. If it's near an election and it's a wedge issue between liberal voters and ultra-liberal voters, that's the propaganda.

And it is 100% active and alive here on Tumblr.

If I can’t have hope, I’ll take spite.

- Queer thoughts on the election -

As a queer woman living in America, I’m devastated. I’m terrified. I’m having a really hard time finding hope and kindness and understanding for myself let alone the other side.

So for now I’m not going to bother.

If I can’t live for hope of a better tomorrow I will at least live for spite.

I will live because they don’t want me to. I will live to watch their hopes fall around their ears. Because they aren’t going to get that “great America” they think are. They’re aren’t going to get that better economy. They aren’t going to get that “brighter” future. The average person who voted for this travesty isn’t going to get the relief they thought they would. They are going to suffer just as much as I am and I will take sick pleasure in watching their hopes die out one by one just as they’ve killed mine.

If I can’t have hope to guide me, I will take spite.

They want to erase me, I will be a permanent blight on the canvas. I will remain, grown over in brambles and sharp as hell. I will cut deep scars into their hands as they try to shove me off our collective property. I will reinforce all of my weakest places with knives. I will continue to survive and I will live as authentically as I can in the small pockets of space my community has carved out with bloody hands. I will not go silently.

I’m not proud of this. I’m not happy about it. I take no joy in knowing that their actions have changed me in a way I didn’t want to change. But it’s hard for me to get out of bed right now, it’s hard for me to think about tomorrow, it’s hard for me to stop crying. It’s hard to breathe. But I can do it out of spite.

So if I can’t have hope, I’ll embrace spite.

Maybe one day I’ll have the space and time and healing to be that kind, understanding, bleeding heart person who wished the best for everyone no matter their actions. But right now I need to lay her down and bury her inside me because she can’t handle this fear again. She can’t handle this anger and terror and anxiety.

So instead of her optimism and hope. I’ll take spite.

However even when my hope of a better future is dying, I care about my community, my people. I want them to survive, to thrive if they can. So I’m sharing my thoughts and I guess my hope hasn’t completely perished since I hope these thoughts bring even the slightest sense of cold comfort or determination to someone else who is struggling.

If this feeling can help me get out of bed, maybe it can help you. Maybe it’ll be enough to stop someone from losing the will to keep going. Maybe it can give you resolve or help you feel seen.

If we can’t feel hope, let us embrace spite.

Plot Bunny Inspired by late at night when the nightingale sings by Imshookandbi where Danny is on the run from Vlad and is saved by Batman. Danny tells Batman that they can’t fight in court because Vlad will just overshadow the judge.

However this idea could be utilized in other fics.

Batman hates mind control, especially in his city and towards his friends, Vlad is pretty into mind control and likes to use it all the time. They’re both millionaires, they run in the same circles, Vlad is a problem (whether or not he’s hunting Danny).

WayneTech obtains the Spector deflector plans (could be from Danny, could be they bought them from the Fentons) and decide to start mass producing them inside their tech.

We always see WayneTech phones - I don’t know if a phone would be a good medium for a Spector deflector, could be if you wanted, but surely the Applewatch/fitbit equivalent would be perfect to sneak that bit of tech into. Bruce Wayne is popular so everyone who is anyone with power in Gotham is wearing Waynetech.

Bruce (or Tim, you pick) wouldn’t even have to tell people about ghosts or the possibility of being possessed (avoiding Vlad getting into their plans, or avoiding alerting the GIW, or maybe people just don’t believe in ghosts) they could just make fancy smartwatches (hell WayneTech could buy Rolex and a jewelry company. Put them in earrings and bracelets and necklaces, everything from five dollar Claire’s earrings to 100K$ diamond earrings, hit lots of price points) and slowly but surely cut off Vlad’s ability to possess anyone. So by the time the bats actually have to confront Vlad, they’ve laid all the ground work and Vlad is caught without his signature backup plan. Vlad can’t control them, he can’t control the judges in court, he can’t control the corrupt policeman by force (money works fine though).

I find the idea that Gotham in particular just becomes the unknowing anti-ghost-possession capital of the world due to the proliferation of WayneTech to be very funny. You could also expand to say the Spector deflector works against other/any kind of mind control if you wanted. That might make Bruce/Tim’s desire to use it much stronger.

I also find the idea that Lex Luthor would probably get screwed by Vlad because he wouldn’t deign to wear rival tech also hilarious.
