The Pulse

inside the skin

a dozen paper planes

suspended on strings

pushed forward with pulse

pulled backwards in dreams

we are 

too close to the present

we float on crumpled mistakes

of tomorrow’s short comings 

we forget,

inside

now

is the closest we get.

Interstitial Space

/We fill the space with rusty bottle caps and torn book jackets, a layer of dead skin cells settled in the cracks.  Like water dripping from the broken bathroom faucet, we fill with fluid, first around the ankles—we stretch—skin pours over our clothes pushing out bowed closet doors, waiting for the crack in the plates that won’t shift.  We overflow from pressure.  A room.  A storage unit.  An extension on the garage.  Each cell divides and grows, never overcoming empty.  Interstital (w)holes Consuming the body, yet Holding us apart /amy.bobeda

Dinner

“...and then we topped it off with micro green.” She noted, referring to last night’s dinner.

“Micro greens? What are micro greens?” Her friend responded blankly.

“You know, it’s like sprouts, but instead it’s really tiny arugula and stuff.” She replied, overly enthused.

“Never heard of ‘em.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, I just thought ‘what hipster shit is she into now?”

Face Creams

She was scared of growing old, so she’d slather her face in expensive creams.  Because she was young, she could not afford such luxuries, and would buy them on credit.  Because credit, you see, she could pay back when she was finally old.

BJ Novack

The cat licked her armpit as she read a book by BJ Novack. She wondered if anyone would ever publish her insightful yet humorous musings.

She clicked “post” because it was 2015, a time when self publishing was free.  Payment only came in the form of popularity, which never paid for her cold pressed juice habit. 

At least one armpit was clean.
