Hello! I am from Ukraine. I live here. I stay in Ukraine, like many of my friends and my family. We can be killed every day. The war continues here.

To have a chance to live, Ukrainians need tourniquets. They can save lives! russia is shelling our cities every day and there is no safe place in Ukraine!

Thanks to you, I was able to get 3 tourniquets. I will leave 2 to my family. I can buy 3 more next week. But this is very little. I need about 10 more, and then I will take them to the local volunteers! One costs 610 hryvnias = 14,79 USD. Please, help raise funds.

The fact that nowhere is safe in Ukraine. Schools, universities, playgrounds, hospitals, malls, stores, homes. Everything is a target for russia. Imagine being at home with people you love. Cooking, laughing, talking, making plans. You feel safe in those moments, don't you? Well you're not, as long as russia is your neighbour. Imagine sleeping in your bed. Going for a run in the morning. Coming from work. Going to a café. Sitting on a bench in park. You think you're safe? You're not, you're a target.

To Americans everything is an idea. Communism is an idea, Lenin is an idea. The reality of the world that millions woke up in every day for decades doesn't feel real to them, because of how far removed they are from the rest of the world.

So they will argue that communism was great and that Lenin was pro lgbt and how the only evil ever done has come from USA's international interventions and while not much good has come off those, spawing ideas like these is just as harmful as starting wars. Not to add doing so is insanely disrespectful to people who lived thru the regimes that Americans romantize.

Please learn world history beyond YOUR history, it will help you become more proactive within your country as well as internationally.

Every time I see poems by Joseph Brodsky in my feed, I'm once again reminded how westerners see him as this edgy moody russian-american poet, while I remember him as a dude who threw a hissy fit in an incredibly xenophobic poem because Ukraine got independence. Called us slurs and everything. Mind you, he was persecuted by the soviets and lived in the USA when he wrote that poem, dude just couldn't handle the fact that across the ocean Ukrainians don't want to live under russia
