My take on the planes (physical, astral and beyond)

People get the planes so wrong, because they're visualised as layers, like pieces of thick cardboard piled on top of one another, or a few spaces apart. I prefer the metaphor of tuning into a radio signal. If the universe were a guitar, it would be fretless. But a guitar is still a poor metaphor, because the notes still go from top to bottom, or one side to the other. High to low. We see everything linearly, in lines, so we become obsessed with this idea of there being a destination (and yes, as usual, a start and beginning) when really the universe doesn't work like that. But I digress from my main point, which is this - if you don't like reality in the physical right now, then raise your vibrations. This will raise your position in the universe "higher", to where things are more positive. We're not a rock world seperated from the rest of the universe and planes, its a part of the greater whole, eventually it fades into something where the physical plane becomes unrecognisable - its not like a jump from one step upto another - its like falling asleep. Does that happen like an on-off switch? No, you slide gradually until there are no recognisable features of the previous "stage" (getting trapped by language here) left. Falling sleep is the fastest ascension into other planes that most humans are capable of. The word planes is probably the culprit here, a plural implying seperate entities. It needs one of those kind of collective words, like "space" or "mist" - amorphous, multidirectional (and of infinite paths) and basically just pretty ungraspable. Still nothing but an emblem to the real (wordless) experience, but its an improvement. If you must view the universe/planes as a sort of map, then bare in mind that the "planes" are only signposts and landmarks put up by previous travellers.
