Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 7
Book 1: Chapter 1
Morning: Ignihyde Dorm—Night Raven College
Golden rays of morning sun streamed through the towering, arched windows of Vivian’s room, casting a soft, amber light over the intricately decorated space. Every corner of the room reflected an understated elegance—soft hues of blue and silver weaved into the tapestries and furniture. The room’s enchanted climate control maintained the perfect temperature, with a faint scent of lavender and mint lingering in the air, calming and sharpening her senses simultaneously.
Vivian stirred beneath the silken sheets, her mind slowly transitioning from the blissful silence of sleep to the reality that awaited her. The tranquility of the room clashed with the lingering tension in her chest.
A familiar presence hovered just above her. Teddy, his wings shimmering faintly as they caught the morning light, nudged her cheek gently, breaking through her drowsy haze.
"Good morning, Vivian," Teddy’s voice resonated in her mind, the telepathic link between them carrying warmth and affection. His expressive eyes, usually full of mischief, reflected concern this time.
Vivian blinked her sapphire eyes open, her fingers instinctively reaching to stroke Teddy’s shimmering mane. "Good morning, Teddy," she murmured, her voice soft as she began to wake fully. "How did you sleep?"
Teddy gave a small, reassuring nod, though his gaze didn’t lose its edge. "I slept fine. But you—you're tense. More than usual." His sharp eyes caught the small furrow in her brow that even sleep hadn’t entirely smoothed.
Vivian’s smile was brief and tired as she pushed herself to sit up, her long, wavy blonde hair cascading over her shoulders. "It’s just nerves. Today’s our first real day of classes," she said, the weight of her words lingering in the air.
Teddy perched beside her, his small wings still as he watched her. "You’ve faced far worse than a classroom, Viv," he said, his tone light but with a gentle undertone of concern. "It’s not like you to get worked up over something like this."
Vivian’s fingers traced the emblem on the blue knit vest hanging on her chair—the emblem of her family, one she wore with both pride and caution. "I’m not worried about the classes," she admitted quietly. "It’s the people. I just don’t want to deal with anyone right now."
The soft chime of her custom tablet cut through the room, its sleek screen glowing as it projected the day’s schedule. The interface was simple and elegant, yet its presence was a reminder of the precision and expectations tied to her every move.
"Our first stop is homeroom with Professor Trein," she noted, her fingers brushing over the tablet’s surface. "Jack and Epel are in my class." Her voice grew quieter, contemplative. Those two weren’t just classmates—they were part of the key group she had sworn to avoid.
Teddy fluttered up, his tiny form drifting lazily around her. "Well, you survived orientation without drawing too much attention. You’ll be fine." His voice was reassuring, but Vivian could feel his underlying worry for her.
"Maybe," Vivian said, though her tone was less certain. She rose from the bed, moving with deliberate calm as she dressed in her uniform. The crisp white shirt, blue knit vest, and blazer felt heavier than they should. As she adjusted her Ignihyde armband and stepped into her blue Mary Janes, she couldn’t shake the weight of her identity.
Teddy stayed close as she dressed, offering quiet reassurances, though neither of them spoke much. The silence stretched on, filled only by the gentle hum of the enchanted climate control system. When she finished, Vivian paused for a moment, looking at herself in the mirror. Her reflection stared back, every detail meticulously in place, but beneath the polished exterior, she couldn’t hide her unease.
"Let’s get this over with," she muttered, adjusting the collar of her blazer one final time. Her heart raced, despite the calm expression she wore.
As they left the dorm and stepped into the bustling hallways of Night Raven College, Vivian felt the shift in the air almost immediately. The students, engrossed in conversation, seemed to quiet as she passed. Eyes followed her—some curious, others wary. The murmurs began almost as soon as she entered the corridor, whispers trailing in her wake like a shadow she couldn’t shake.
Here we go again, she thought, her mental voice laced with resignation. She kept her gaze straight ahead, refusing to meet the stares of those around her.
Ignore it, Teddy responded softly. It’s just curiosity. That’s all. You’re a new face, and... well, you’re you. His teasing tone tried to lift her spirits, though both knew the truth behind his words.
Being me is exactly the problem, Vivian thought back sarcastically, keeping her eyes straight ahead as she navigated the labyrinth of hallways. She could feel the weight of stares pressing down on her from all sides, each one silently questioning or judging. The burden of her royal lineage, her magical prowess, her reputation—none of it was something she could shed.
When they arrived at Classroom 1-B, the door was already open, and several students had already taken their seats. Professor Trein stood at the front of the room, his sharp eyes behind wire-rimmed glasses tracking the students as they settled in. Jack and Epel were among the first to arrive, both seated closer to the front, looking lost in thought.
Vivian hesitated, just for a moment, before choosing a seat near the back of the room. She hoped the distance would offer some semblance of anonymity, though she knew better than to expect it. As she sat, her tablet and pen materialized on the desk with a soft shimmer of magic, automatically syncing with the enchanted blackboard at the front of the room.
Despite her best efforts to stay focused, she could still feel it—that subtle but ever-present awareness of being watched. It was as if every student in the room, whether intentionally or not, was attuned to her presence, waiting to see what she would do next.
This is going to be a long day, she thought, though her expression remained impassive.
Teddy settled on her shoulder, his wings fluttering softly as he gave her a nudge. Just stay calm. Let them watch. Eventually, they’ll get used to you.
Vivian didn’t reply, but inwardly, she hoped Teddy was right. As much as she longed to blend in, her very existence seemed to defy such a simple wish. The day had barely begun, and already the weight of being "Vivian de Alcantara" felt heavier than ever.

Homeroom: Classroom 1-B—Night Raven College
The air shifted as Professor Trein strode into the room, his black robes flowing behind him like a shadow. His every step exuded authority, and the quiet rustle of his papers seemed to still the low hum of conversation among the students. "Good morning, class," he began, setting his books on the desk with a practiced, almost ceremonial precision. Beside him, Lucius, his ever-watchful feline companion, slinked across the surface of the desk, his sharp eyes mirroring the discerning gaze of his master.
The students straightened, the atmosphere thick with the weight of expectation. Vivian mirrored the others, her posture already perfect, her fingers resting lightly on her custom tablet. The sleek surface hummed faintly with magic, ready to capture every word. Trein wasted no time diving into his usual opening: a speech that was as much a tradition as the school itself.
"As first-year students," Trein began, his voice steady and unwavering, "you are expected to adhere strictly to the rules of this institution. Night Raven College is not a place for the weak-willed or the undisciplined. You are here to excel, to rise above mediocrity. Academic excellence is not merely encouraged—it is demanded. Your actions, both in and outside the classroom, reflect on the reputation of this school, and any disobedience, tardiness, or negligence will not be tolerated."
Lucius punctuated the end of Trein’s words with a sharp, commanding purr, his eyes narrowing as they scanned the room, searching for any hint of dissent. A collective murmur of agreement followed from the students.
Vivian, still as ever, kept her attention fixed on Trein. Her expression was neutral, but inwardly, she recognized the weight of his words. In this place, appearance and reputation were everything. No room for error, no room for vulnerability—qualities that felt all too familiar in her world. Her goal was simple: stay unnoticed, blend in, despite everything that marked her as extraordinary.
But even in the quiet corner of the classroom where she sat, Vivian could feel the subtle pull of attention. Jack’s cautious wariness, Epel’s almost childlike curiosity—she could sense it all, though she kept her gaze forward and her focus sharp.
"As students of this institution," Trein continued, his tone brokering no argument, "you must strive to uphold the values that have been ingrained in this academy for generations. Discipline, knowledge, and integrity. Your schedules have been designed to push you, to ensure you grow into capable magicians. Do not waste the opportunity you’ve been given. And for those attending practical classes, remember: come prepared. Any failure to follow these expectations will result in immediate disciplinary action."
Jack, sitting closer to the front, absorbed Trein's words without so much as a flicker of doubt. His disciplined nature kept him in check, his thoughts methodical and sharp. Though he had heard plenty about Vivian’s reputation—her supposed genius and nearly unparalleled magical prowess—his instincts told him to keep an open mind. She didn’t appear arrogant, nor did she carry herself with the air of superiority he had come to expect from others of high status.
She doesn’t seem like the type to flaunt her status, Jack mused, his eyes flicking briefly to where Vivian sat in the back. But someone with that much power? There’s got to be more to her. Better to stay cautious.
Epel, meanwhile, had a harder time keeping his curiosity in check. His gaze wandered back to Vivian every few minutes, the image of her sitting quietly at her desk conflicting with the stories he had heard. In his mind, she was almost larger than life—a prodigy in both magic and combat, a figure nearly as skilled as the crown prince himself. But seeing her now, sitting quietly, her expression calm and composed, threw him off balance.
She doesn’t look as intimidating as I thought she’d be, Epel thought, chewing his lip. But legends are tricky. You never really know what’s true until you see it for yourself. I wonder if she’s as skilled as they say.
There was something almost ethereal about her, a quiet confidence that seemed to draw people in despite her efforts to remain in the background. Epel felt a mix of awe and apprehension. Part of him wanted to approach her, to test the truth of the stories, but another part hesitated. He wasn’t sure if he could handle the truth if it turned out she was as extraordinary as the rumors claimed.
Trein continued his lecture, driving home the importance of discipline and academic rigor. His voice never wavered, a testament to his years of experience in handling students both eager and reluctant. "You are here to learn, not indulge in frivolous distractions. Every assignment must be completed on time and with diligence. Any failure to meet the expectations set by this academy will be met with the appropriate consequences. Is that clear?"
Vivian remained calm, her pen moving fluidly over the tablet’s screen as she took notes. She kept her expression neutral, her attention seemingly focused on the lecture. But her mind wandered to Yuu, to the strange energy she and Teddy had detected earlier. The mystery still nagged at her, a piece of the puzzle she hadn’t yet solved. She wanted answers—needed them—but for now, she had to play the role she’d chosen. The studious, quiet academic. Nothing more.
As Trein finally concluded his speech, he looked over the class once more. His sharp eyes landed briefly on Vivian, a flicker of recognition passing through them before he continued his survey of the room. "You have ten minutes before your first period begins. Use your time wisely."
The students began to stir, the tension of Trein’s lecture easing as they adjusted in their seats or pulled out their materials. Vivian remained still for a moment longer, letting out a small breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. Teddy, perched on her shoulder, fluttered his wings slightly, the faint movement enough to remind her he was still there, still watching over her.
That went well, Teddy whispered through their telepathic link. What did I tell you? They’re all just curious.
Let’s hope it stays that way, Vivian replied silently, her gaze drifting to the enchanted blackboard as it synced with her tablet. The last thing we need is anyone suspecting us.
She glanced around the room, feeling the weight of eyes on her again. Jack’s steady gaze, Epel’s not-so-subtle curiosity, even Trein’s brief acknowledgment. She could feel them watching, waiting, as if they expected something—anything—from her.
But as always, she gave them nothing. Only the quiet, unassuming image of a girl who wanted nothing more than to focus on her studies.
The day was just beginning, and already, it felt heavy.

Passing Time: Classroom 1-B—Night Raven College
As the students began to gather their things, Vivian rose with her usual grace, her tablet still in hand. Every movement she made was fluid, almost ethereal, as though she were gliding rather than walking. She caught sight of Epel’s lingering gaze and, after a brief moment of thought, decided to offer him a small, polite smile—a calculated gesture to appear more approachable.
It backfired spectacularly.
Epel’s breath hitched as soon as her smile met his eyes. All the stories and rumors he’d heard about her seemed laughably inadequate. Vivian’s smile wasn’t just beautiful; it was entrancing, almost otherworldly in its warmth and charm. He felt a rush of heat in his cheeks, the unmistakable bloom of a blush spreading across his face. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat reverberating louder, urging him to take a step forward, to say something—anything. But his tongue felt heavy, and his mind blank.
She’s even more incredible than I imagined, Epel thought, struggling to maintain his composure amid the chaos of emotions swirling inside him. No wonder people talk about her like she’s a legend. That smile… how can someone look like they were from a fairytale? But… His gaze faltered, dropping for a moment as his thoughts grew more conflicted. How could someone like me ever approach someone like her? She’s in a completely different league.
His frustration only deepened his blush, and his hands clenched slightly, fighting the overwhelming urge to look away in embarrassment. The realization that Vivian could be so close yet feel so unattainable was almost painful. She embodied everything the rumors had promised and more. The desire to speak with her, to connect in some way, grew stronger—but it was weighed down by the reality of their differences.
From his seat nearby, Jack watched the brief interaction with a seemingly neutral expression, though inside, he wasn’t quite as unaffected as he appeared. He prided himself on staying grounded, never getting swept up by surface impressions or idle rumors. And yet… there was something about Vivian that disrupted his usual calm.
Jack’s thoughts echoed in silence as he replayed the moment in his head. His brow furrowed slightly, trying to make sense of the unfamiliar feeling creeping up on him. It’s no wonder she’s got everyone’s attention. But there’s more to her than just looks. She doesn’t carry herself like someone who’s trying to impress people, but it’s clear she knows the impact she has. His eyes narrowed slightly as he continued his quiet observation. She’s hiding something—or maybe she’s just more complicated than she lets on. Either way, I’m going to keep watching. Maybe I’ll figure out what she’s really here for. No one’s that perfect.
Vivian, completely unaware of the silent emotional storm she had stirred, continued toward the door, her outward demeanor as calm and composed as ever. She was all too familiar with the way eyes followed her, how people watched her every move, but she had long since learned to master her expressions. The polished exterior she showed the world was a shield, keeping others at arm’s length. Here, at Night Raven College, vulnerability wasn’t an option.
As she exited the classroom, her mind shifted to the tasks awaiting her, compartmentalizing her thoughts with practiced efficiency. Yet, despite her focus, she couldn’t entirely shake the feeling of being watched, dissecting every smile and gesture. Every move had to be carefully controlled—this was a game of chess, and she had no choice but to play.
Perched comfortably on her shoulder, Teddy took in the entire scene with barely concealed amusement, his sharp eyes noting every flustered expression and reaction with gleeful precision.
Oh man, look at those two! Teddy thought, snickering quietly. Epel’s face is practically a stop sign! If he gets any redder, we might need to call the fire department for a color code emergency! And Jack? He’s over there like he’s trying to calculate the meaning of life! I’m pretty sure he just needs a good cup of tea and a hug!
Teddy ruffled his feathers, bursting with laughter at the sheer absurdity of it all. Vivian, you’ve really outdone yourself this time. You’re like a walking, talking charm spell, and you don’t even know it! What’s your secret? Do you have a magic wand hidden somewhere?
He relished the chaos her presence caused, his mind racing with funny scenarios. I should start charging people for commentary on this stuff—Oh! I should write a book! “Teddy’s Guide to Surviving the Dazzling Princess: Tips on Recovering After Getting Flustered!” He paused, chuckling to himself. Chapter One: If you think impressing her with your favorite vegetables will work, that’ll just make her wonder what’s wrong with you! Just don’t bring up Brussels sprouts—trust me on this one!
Amused by his own musings, Teddy shifted his position slightly, nestling himself more comfortably on Vivian’s shoulder. He could already tell this wasn’t the last time he’d get to watch a scene like this unfold. While Vivian remained blissfully unaware of the effect she had on others, Teddy was more than happy to sit back and enjoy the show.
With a final chuckle, Teddy settled in, content and ready for whatever came next, while Vivian moved forward, blissfully unaware of the whirlwind she had left in her wake.

Passing Time: Hallway—Night Raven College
Vivian stepped out of the classroom, her footsteps soft against the polished stone floor, yet each step echoed through the labyrinthine corridors like whispers of history. The gothic architecture of Night Raven College loomed above her, casting intricate shadows from towering arches, their dark elegance a reminder of the ancient magic embedded in the walls. The cool, enchanted air brushed against her skin, carrying the faint scent of centuries-old wood and the remnants of powerful spells long past.
As she moved deeper into the school, the vibrant hum of student life surrounded her. Whispers filled the corridor, a ripple of curiosity that intensified with each step she took. It was a chorus she had grown used to—the blend of awe, envy, and uncertainty, like a wave crashing around her as first-year students craned their necks for a glimpse.
"Is that her? The Crown Princess?"
"She's a prodigy, right?"
"Forget that—she’s the CEO of Nightingale Innovations! How’s she even our age?”
"And the Scepter of Hercules… how much power do you think it has?"
Their voices buzzed like insects at the edge of her awareness. Her posture remained impeccable, her expression serene—a carefully practiced façade she had perfected after years in the royal court. Every movement was deliberate, each glance calculated, as if she were performing for an unseen audience that was always ready to pounce on any slip.
Is this what it’s always going to be like, Teddy? She reached out with her thoughts.
Teddy’s voice filled her mind, light with humor. What, the constant fan club?
Vivian resisted the urge to sigh aloud. Being under a microscope, she corrected.
A chuckle resonated in her thoughts. Tomato, tomahto. Think of it this way—everyone’s watching you because they expect something amazing. You’re practically a living legend to them.
Or, she countered, they’re waiting for me to fail.
Well, yeah, that too, Teddy’s tone was matter-of-fact, but playful. But failure’s more fun with an audience. Besides, what are they going to do? Boo? I bet if you handed out enchanted cupcakes, they'd worship you. Who doesn't love a good pastry?
Vivian stifled a smirk. Pastries? Really?
Trust me. A magical cupcake is diplomacy at its finest. One bite, and suddenly you're "Princess Vivian, the Savior of Breakfast."
And here I thought politics was more complicated than baking.
Depends on who’s doing the baking.
Despite herself, a sliver of warmth curled inside her, though she kept her expression calm. Around her, the attention grew thicker, palpable as a physical force pressing in on all sides. The glowing sconces cast an eerie, flickering light, their ethereal flames licking the stone walls. The students' stares ranged from open awe to sharp jealousy, yet none of them dared to speak directly to her.
As she entered the second-year section of the corridor, the atmosphere shifted. Gone were the idle whispers of first-years—these students were more experienced, their gazes less curious and more calculating. They didn’t stare as openly, but she could feel the weight of their scrutiny. It wasn’t admiration—they were assessing her. Evaluating. Judging.
And standing near a marble pillar, observing her every move, was Riddle Rosehearts.
His crimson eyes locked onto her with an intensity that cut through the murmurs of the hall. He was composed, his uniform immaculate, his posture rigid—yet something in his gaze was sharper than it should have been. Suspicious. Calculating. It was the look of someone accustomed to order and authority, now faced with a presence that disrupted the delicate balance he had so carefully crafted.
That smile... His thoughts betrayed him, surprising him more than he’d ever admit. He quickly averted his eyes, the color rising to his cheeks. Focus, Riddle. You're better than this.
He tightened his grip on the leather-bound book in his hands, the only outward sign of his inner turmoil. Why is she really here? With her intellect, she doesn’t need this school. It doesn’t add up. This has to be about power. It’s a strategic move, not education.
His eyes darkened as the pieces of his theory began to align. I’ll be watching you, Vivian de Alcantara.
Vivian felt the weight of his scrutiny without needing to meet his gaze. It was a familiar sensation—the same sharp, penetrating look she had grown accustomed to in the royal courts. He wasn’t just watching her, he was analyzing her, searching for weakness. Years of royal training kept her expression serene, her pace unhurried, but internally, her mind whirred with thoughts.
Teddy?
Yeah, I see him, Teddy’s tone lost its usual humor, adopting a more serious edge. Riddle Rosehearts. He’s got that “head-of-the-rules” vibe. You know, the type who probably keeps a spreadsheet on everyone’s mistakes.
Plotting my demise, most likely, she mused.
Either that or preparing an overly detailed lecture on the rules. Don’t let him ruffle you. You’re twice as smart and ten times more fun. Plus, I bet he’s never heard of pastry diplomacy.
Vivian’s eyes remained forward as she passed Riddle, her face betraying nothing. His gaze followed her until she disappeared down the corridor, but her mind was already shifting to the next challenge.
The third-year section was darker, quieter. Fewer students wandered these halls, but their presence was heavier, their silence more discerning. The flickering blue flames cast long, eerie shadows, lending an otherworldly quality to the space. These students didn’t gawk or gossip—they watched in silence, their attention sharper, more dangerous. Here, she wasn’t just being observed—she was being measured.
They’re watching you closely, Teddy noted. Don’t worry though, they haven’t figured out the secret weapon: strawberry tarts.
Vivian’s lips quirked ever so slightly. I’ll keep that in mind.
The whispers in this hall were different, too. Quieter, but filled with more malice.
"They say she’s on par with the Crown Prince…"
"She’s here to take the throne, isn’t she?"
"Why else would a genius like her waste time at Night Raven?"
Vivian tuned out the words, but they clung to the air like poisonous smoke. Speculative rumors were nothing new, but the third-years’ words had more bite—colder, more strategic. They weren’t merely curious about her; they were wary.
Pastry diplomacy, Teddy’s voice cut through the tension again, this time teasingly. A well-placed cupcake and they’ll be singing your praises.
Noted. The lightness in his tone eased the tension in her shoulders as they approached the towering doors to the third-year classroom. Massive and intricately carved, the wood thrummed faintly with ancient magic. Beyond those doors awaited the real test—not just of her status, but of her abilities, her intentions, her strength.
She paused, taking a steadying breath.
You’ve got this, Teddy’s voice was filled with unwavering confidence. Brains, magic, and snacks—what could go wrong?
Vivian straightened, brushing her fingers against the cold handle of the door. The whispers behind her faded, the weight of Riddle’s suspicions slipped away, and the tension from the third-years dissolved into nothing. She was prepared for whatever lay beyond that door—whether it was judgment, rivalry, or something far more dangerous.
As she stepped inside, the classroom fell silent, all eyes turning toward her. But Vivian de Alcantara was ready.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 6 | Book 1: Chapter 1
Prologue 7
After-School Period: Private Lab—Night Raven College
Vivian sat in her dimly lit lab, her diamond-blue eyes flicking between the numerous screens before her. Teddy floated lazily at her side, his small wings fluttering as he peered curiously at the display. The air was tense with unspoken thoughts, the rhythmic hum of machinery the only sound breaking the silence.
On the central screen, the Night Raven College cafeteria buzzed with the usual after-school energy. Vivian's gaze followed Yuu, Grim, Ace, and Deuce as they made their way towards the dwarves' mine—a task they had been hastily assigned as punishment. Though Vivian knew this part of the story, her heart tightened at the thought of her best friend, Yuu, facing such dangers.
“You know you can’t intervene directly, right?” Teddy’s voice was light, but his concern was evident.
“I know,” Vivian replied, her eyes never leaving the screen. “But I can’t just sit back and watch them get hurt. There are ways to help from behind the scenes.”
Teddy let out a small sigh. “They’ve faced plenty already, and they’ll manage. But if things spiral out of control…”
Vivian’s eyes sharpened, her attention shifting to the monitor showing the entrance to the dwarves' mine, where the group was just arriving. Her fingers hovered over a control panel, ready to intervene subtly if necessary.
At the dwarves' mine, a chilling breeze blew past Yuu, Grim, Ace, and Deuce as they stood before the dark, gaping maw of the cavern. Twisted vines hung like skeletal fingers from the entrance, while rusted tools and decaying carts littered the ground, casting eerie shadows under the dim moonlight.
Deuce blinked at the entrance, his usual seriousness now laced with a hint of nervousness. “This place is... unsettling.”
Grim puffed out his chest, though his voice trembled slightly. “Pfft, it’s just an old mine. I bet there’s nothing in there but dust!”
Ace smirked, arms crossed. “Sure, Grim. We’ll see how brave you are when the ghosts show up.”
“G-Ghosts?!” Grim yelped, his ears flattening.
Yuu chuckled softly, patting Grim on the head. “We’ve come this far. We’ll just need to stick together and keep our cool.”
Ace’s eyes caught a dilapidated house near the entrance, its paint faded and chipped. He motioned toward it with a grin. “Hey, check out that old house. Bet it’s where the miners used to live. Might be worth looking inside.”
Deuce, ever practical, eyed the structure warily. “I don’t know... Seems abandoned.”
Nonetheless, they approached the house, stepping through the rusty gate that groaned loudly in protest. The front door creaked as Deuce cautiously pushed it open, revealing a dusty, dim interior. Faded curtains clung to broken windows, and small, child-sized chairs sat abandoned around a tiny table, covered in a thick layer of dust.
Grim, tail bristling, brushed past Deuce only to walk face-first into a spider web. “Argh! Spider webs!” he screeched, flailing wildly as Ace laughed at him.
“Real brave, aren’t you, Grim?” Ace teased, barely containing his amusement.
“C’mon, cut it out,” Deuce muttered, stepping inside. “Doesn’t look like anyone’s been here for years.”
“Which means there’s nothing useful,” Ace said, turning back toward the mine entrance. “Let’s get on with it. We’re wasting time.”
As the group ventured into the mine, the temperature dropped sharply, and the dim light from their magic spells barely illuminated the twisting corridors. Suddenly, the faint sound of eerie, echoing laughter filled the tunnel. Deuce stopped in his tracks, his hand reflexively reaching for his magic pen.
“Did you hear that?” he asked quietly.
From the shadows, a ghostly figure in a tattered miner’s outfit emerged, its hollow eyes glowing eerily. “Visitors...” it whispered. “It’s been so long since we’ve had visitors…”
Grim, trying and failing to hide behind Yuu, trembled. “Wh-What the heck is that?!”
Another ghost, with a malicious grin, floated closer, its voice a rasping whisper. “Come closer... Stay with us forever…”
Ace rolled his eyes but pulled out his magic pen, summoning a gust of wind that swirled through the chamber. “Enough with the haunted house routine. Let’s get rid of these guys and move on.”
Deuce, his voice steady despite the fear creeping into his chest, raised his pen, summoning a protective barrier that glowed a soft blue around the group. “Let’s focus. These are just ghosts—nothing we can’t handle.”
Grim, finally regaining his nerve, stood on his hind legs and let loose a burst of flame. “Take this, you floaty creeps!”
As the fire and wind clashed with the ghostly figures, they wavered, their forms flickering and distorting in the air. Yuu, meanwhile, had found a rusted mining pickaxe. Wielding it, he swung it in wide arcs, forcing the ghosts to retreat further into the shadows.
Ace, his smirk fading as the fight intensified, created a powerful whirlwind with his magic. “Let’s keep pushing! Deuce, cover us!”
Deuce’s barrier held strong against the ghosts' attacks, deflecting their eerie, glowing blasts. “I’ve got you! Keep the pressure on!”
Grim, caught in the heat of battle, fired another volley of flames, his bravado fully returned. “You mess with the Great Grim, you get burned!”
With one final coordinated effort, Ace’s whirlwind, Deuce’s barrier, and Grim’s fire magic combined to overwhelm the ghosts. The chamber filled with the sound of their distorted howls before they finally dissipated, their ghostly forms fading into nothing.
Ace let out a breath, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow. “Well, that was easy.”
Deuce shook his head, looking more cautious. “Don’t get cocky. That was just the start. We still have to find the magestone.”
Grim, his tail still twitching nervously, muttered, “Yeah, yeah, let’s just hurry before more of those ghost creeps show up!”
Yuu stayed quiet, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the tunnel ahead. Despite the victory, the mine still loomed ominously around them, dark and foreboding. *This isn’t over yet. There’s something worse waiting for us. I can feel it.*
Back in the lab, Teddy floated lazily, watching the screens. “Well, that went better than expected. Even Grim pulled his weight.”
Vivian nodded, though her eyes were still focused on the screen. “They did well, but this is only the beginning. The deeper they go, the more dangerous it will become.”
Teddy grinned, casting a glance at Yuu. “Yuu’s looking tense. You’d think he’d be more relaxed, knowing how things go.”
Vivian’s expression softened slightly. “Knowing what’s coming doesn’t make it any easier. If anything, it makes you more cautious.”
With a sigh, Vivian leaned back in her chair, though her gaze remained glued to the monitors. As the group pressed deeper into the mine’s depths, she prepared herself for what lay ahead.
“They’ll be fine,” Teddy reassured her, a teasing edge to his voice. “But it’s nice to know you’ve got their back... even if they don’t know it.”
Vivian allowed a small, fleeting smile to cross her lips. “I’ll always have their back.”
And with that, she refocused, watching as the group ventured deeper into the darkness.
_________________________________________________
Night: Dwarfs’ Mine—The Enchanted Forest
The entrance to the Dwarfs' Mine stood before them, an ominous void carved into the rock. The air inside was cool, damp, and thick with the scent of earth and stone. The darkness was almost suffocating, the flickering lanterns in their hands barely illuminating the narrow, winding corridor ahead.
Yuu adjusted his grip on the lantern, his brow furrowed with worry. If we can avoid that monster, we might just make it out of here without a scratch. The path ahead twisted and turned in tight, jagged curves, the stone walls pressing in on them from every side.
"Great, more ghosts." Ace’s voice cut through the tense silence, his frustration plain as he kicked a stray stone. “This place is crawling with ‘em!”
Deuce kept his gaze straight ahead, trying to keep his cool. “Complaining’s not going to help, Ace. We need to keep moving if we want to find the magestone.”
Ace shot him a sideways glare. “Oh, and when did we make you* the leader? We’re in this mess because you went all gung-ho with your dumb hero act!”
Deuce’s face flushed red. “My stunt? You’re the one who refused to clean the windows in the first place! We wouldn’t even be here if you didn’t keep getting us into trouble!”
Grim, padding along beside them, snarled. “Myah! And if you two hadn’t been bickering like old ladies, I wouldn’t have been distracted in the first place!”
Their voices echoed down the tunnel, growing louder with every word. The tension between them was palpable, each argument adding more weight to the already stifling atmosphere.
Back in the safety of her lab, Vivian leaned over an enchanted monitor, her sapphire eyes focused intently on the scene unfolding below. Shelves of gleaming magical instruments surrounded her, their faint glow reflecting the warm, golden light of the enchanted lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Teddy hovered nearby, his gaze lazily drifting between the monitors, his ears twitching with amusement.
“Well, they’re certainly keeping things lively down there,” Teddy remarked, floating closer to the screen. “Honestly, this is better than half the shows I’ve seen. Ace and Deuce are like a comedy duo that doesn’t know it yet.”
Vivian didn’t share his amusement, her expression serious as she watched her friend Yuu trying to calm down the increasingly heated argument. “Their bickering is only going to make things worse. If they don’t stop, that monster’s going to catch them for sure.”
Teddy chuckled, his voice lighthearted. “Yeah, if they don’t get eaten first. Imagine explaining that to Crowley. ‘Sorry, sir, they got turned into monster chow because they wouldn’t stop fighting.’”
Vivian’s gaze didn’t waver from the monitor, her voice quiet. “I just hope they can get out of there in one piece.”
Back in the mine, Yuu suddenly halted, a shiver running down his spine. His eyes widened as he strained to listen. “Guys… I think I just heard something.”
The group froze, their breath catching as a low, rumbling voice echoed through the cavern. The words were slow, deliberate, and filled with malice. “Stooonesss... Stooonesss aaare miiiiine...”
The ground trembled beneath their feet as the creature stepped into the dim light of their lanterns. It was a towering, hulking mass of jagged stone and shadow, its eyes glowing with a terrifying, unnatural light. Its limbs scraped against the stone walls, and the growl that rumbled from deep within it sent a chill down their spines.
Deuce’s eyes locked onto the magestone resting on a pedestal across the chamber. His heart raced. “There it is! The magestone!”
Yuu grabbed his arm urgently. “No! We need to get out of here!”
Deuce, desperate, shook his head. “But it’s right there! We need it!”
Ace, already backing toward the tunnel, wasn’t having any of it. “You can go after it if you want, but I’m not sticking around to become this thing’s dinner!”
Grim, eyes wide with fear, tugged at Yuu’s sleeve. “Myahh! Hurry! Let’s get outta here!”
Without a second thought, they bolted for the exit, the ground quaking with every step of the monster behind them. They burst out of the mine, collapsing onto the soft grass outside, gasping for air. The sky above had darkened into twilight, the stars just beginning to flicker to life, and the distant sounds of the forest seemed far away compared to the terror they had just escaped.
Grim was the first to speak, still trembling. “That… was WAY too close.”
Ace sat up with a groan, rubbing his shoulder where he’d fallen. “No one told us there’d be a giant rock monster in there!”
Deuce, panting and covered in dirt, shook his head. “That wasn’t just a ghost… That thing was something else.”
Ace shot him a glare. “Yeah? Well, whatever it was, I’m done. Let’s call it a day and head back. Expulsion sounds a lot better than dealing with that thing again.”
Deuce sprang to his feet, glaring right back. “What? Are you serious? We can’t just give up! We’ve come this far! You really want to get expelled because you’re too scared to try?”
Ace crossed his arms and smirked, his tone mocking. “Pfft. Big talk coming from someone who barely managed to throw a decent spell in there. You wanna get the magestone so bad? Be my guest.”
Deuce’s face flushed with anger. “You—!”
“Hey, hey!” Grim waved his paws in the air, trying to defuse the situation. “Let’s not fight, alright?!”
Yuu stepped forward, his patience clearly wearing thin. “Arguing isn’t going to get us anywhere. We need to think of a plan.”
Ace raised an eyebrow, still looking unimpressed. “A plan? What are you gonna do, Yuu? Pull out some genius strategy out of thin air?”
Deuce, still fuming, added, “We barely managed to keep it together in there. How are we supposed to beat that thing?”
Grim, looking between them with wide eyes, muttered, “Maybe we could just… blow it up or something?”
Deuce shook his head. “It’s not that easy, Grim. Magic doesn’t work like that. You can’t just wish for something to happen.”
Ace sighed. “Yeah, exactly. Which is why this is a total waste of time.”
Yuu turned to the group, his expression serious. “I’ve got one idea. But you all need to trust me.”
From the safety of the lab, Teddy was grinning ear to ear as he watched the scene unfold. “They’re like a bunch of kids at recess. This is pure gold.”
Vivian shook her head slightly, her gaze still fixed on Yuu. “They’re getting there. Slowly. But Yuu’s right—they need a plan, and they need to work together.”
Teddy floated back lazily, his grin never faltering. “Well, let’s see if this ‘plan’ of his is worth the wait.”
Back at the mine’s entrance, Yuu took a deep breath and began explaining his idea, the others listening intently despite their earlier bickering. For the first time that night, they began to see that the only way forward was together.
With their resolve renewed, Ace, Deuce, Grim, and Yuu prepared to face the dangers ahead. Though their path was uncertain, they knew that, for now, they were in this together.
---
Night: Dwarfs’ Mine—The Enchanted Forest
Grim's tiny body trembled, yet he puffed out his chest with false bravado, his fur bristling as he frantically waved his paws. His voice wavered, barely hiding the fear bubbling within. “H-hey! You overgrown bricak-head! I'm right here! Come and get me! MYAAAH!”
The monster’s red, glowing eyes locked onto Grim, making him freeze. Its gnarled mouth twisted into a snarl, shaking the ground with its thunderous roar. “Grrraaawrrr! BEGONE!”
Grim’s confidence wavered as the beast’s massive legs began pounding toward him, each step sending vibrations through the ground. “Yuu! He's comin'! Do somethin’!”
Yuu stood his ground, expression unshaken as the beast barreled forward. His voice cut through the creature’s roar, calm yet commanding. “That’s enough.”
The monster hesitated, its wild eyes narrowing on Yuu as it snarled in fury, “Grrruugh?! THIIIEF... STAAAAY AWAAAY! NOOO GIVE STONE! NEVAAAAAAR!”
Its huge fists swung in violent arcs, missing Yuu by inches. Grim’s fur spiked as he backed away, eyes wide. “Eep! If that thing hits us, we’re toast!”
Yuu, maintaining his composure, glanced at Grim. “We’ve got to draw it away from the mine. Come on, Grim!”
The creature’s guttural roar sent a shiver through the forest, its massive body still charging forward.
After what felt like endless dodging, Grim panted with relief. “Finally! We got it far enough from the magestones.”
Yuu’s voice snapped with urgency, signaling their moment. “Ace, Grim, now’s our chance! Do it!”
Ace grinned, his eyes narrowing as he raised his hand. “Alright! Time for a blowout!” He summoned his wind magic, whipping the air into a violent gust. “Wind Blade!”
Grim leapt forward, adding his own flair with a stream of blue flames. “And here’s some Grim-brand fireworks! HYAAAH!” The flames spiraled upward, merging with the wind to form a fiery vortex.
The monster staggered, eyes wide with shock as the inferno bore down on it. “GRRRRAGH?!” It howled, the fire searing its thick hide.
Ace smirked, his smugness on full display. “Looks like Grim’s puny flames can pack a punch with a little help!”
Grim, eyes blazing with irritation, whipped his head toward Ace. “Puny?! You better watch your mouth, you tomato-headed windbag!”
Yuu stepped forward, cutting through their squabbling. “Focus. Deuce, now!”
Deuce clenched his fist, concentrating as his magic built up. “Gotta think of the heaviest thing… something massive… like Ace’s ego. Cauldron!” He slammed his hand forward, conjuring a giant cauldron that came crashing down with an earth-shaking *thud* onto the monster’s head.
The beast groaned, dazed from the impact. “GUAAAH?!” It wobbled, disoriented, as the cauldron pinned it to the ground.
Grim's tail swayed as he hopped with glee. “We got it! Look, Yuu, the monster’s down!”
Ace, arms crossed, threw Deuce a look. “Nice job, but did you really have to crush it like you did me?”
Deuce shot him a quick smirk, still catching his breath. “Well, it worked, didn’t it?”
“Less talk, more action!” Yuu’s voice rang out as he ran toward the magestone. “Grab it, quickly!”
Grim rushed forward, hands already reaching for the magestone, only for the ground to tremble as the creature let out a monstrous roar. “MYYYY STOOOOONE!” It pushed against the weight of the cauldron with terrifying strength.
Ace's eyes went wide. “No way! It's still moving?!”
The monster’s enraged wails echoed through the mine as it struggled to stand. “GIIIIVE BAAAAACK!”
Deuce, panic creeping into his voice, yelled, “It’s too fast! We won’t make it!”
Yuu’s gaze remained sharp, formulating a plan. “If we hit it hard enough, we can stop it for good. Everyone, on my mark!”
Ace groaned, rolling his eyes, but nodded in agreement. “Alright, alright, one last hit. Don’t wet yourself, Deucey!”
Deuce shot him a glare, his resolve hardening. “I’m not scared! Let’s finish this!”
Grim, flames already sparking around his paws, let out a fierce cry. “Time for me to shine! We’ll roast this overgrown gecko!”
Just as they braced for their final attack, a shimmer of light enveloped the group. Ace, Deuce, and Grim blinked in confusion as the gentle barrier of magic surrounded them.
From her hidden spot, Vivian had decided it was time to step in—subtly. With a soft word of magic, she strengthened their defenses, giving them the boost they needed. Her eyes narrowed, observing the rising blot energy from the monster. It was spiraling out of control.
Teddy’s voice echoed gently in her mind. “Vivian, this thing’s not going down easily.”
Vivian’s gaze remained steady. “I know. But let’s see how they handle it for now.”
Grim’s flames roared hotter than before, his eyes gleaming with newfound strength. “Whoa! Where’d this power come from?! Alright, let’s finish this for real!”
Deuce, feeling the magical boost course through him, nodded. “Now’s our chance. Let’s give it everything we’ve got!”
Ace, wind swirling around him, grinned. “Here we go! Let’s blow this thing away!”
With Vivian’s magic bolstering their energy, the group unleashed a devastating final strike. Grim’s flames erupted into a towering inferno, fanned by Ace’s powerful winds. Deuce’s cauldron slammed down one more time, smashing into the monster with crushing force.
The beast let out a final, agonized roar as the combined magic overwhelmed it. Its body, weakened and broken, collapsed to the ground with a deafening crash. The blot energy surrounding it evaporated, leaving nothing but silence.
Deuce hunched over, hands braced against his knees, his breathing ragged as he tried to catch his breath. His forehead glistened with sweat, and he gasped out between breaths, “Is... is it over?”
Ace, still on edge, his eyes scanning their surroundings, slowly relaxed when nothing else jumped out at them. A smug grin tugged at the corners of his lips. "Looks like we actually pulled it off! Not too bad for a bunch of first-years, huh?"
Grim, ever the ball of confidence, puffed out his chest and raised his paw for a high-five. “Yeah, that's right! I was amazing, wasn’t I? Victory high-five, now!” He waved his paw insistently.
The trio hesitated only briefly before slapping their hands (and paw) together, their voices a cacophony of triumph. “Yeeeah!”
Yuu, standing a little off to the side, couldn’t help but chuckle at their energy. Wiping the sweat from his brow, he smiled. “Nothing like almost dying to bring people closer together, right?”
Deuce, having finally caught his breath, straightened up with a shake of his head. “Nah, I don’t think that’s what happened here…”
Ace rolled his eyes dramatically, folding his arms. “Yeah, Yuu, save the cheesy lines for storybooks. We just survived a monster fight, not a friendship seminar.”
Grim, never one to let anyone else have the last word, shot Yuu a look of mock indignation. “You guys are lucky to even *be* on my team! This whole thing? All me! If I hadn’t been there with my top-tier magic skills, we wouldn’t be celebrating squat!”
Ace groaned but, begrudgingly, nodded. “Okay, fine, I’ll admit it. We mostly won because of Yuu’s plan.”
Deuce nodded with equal sincerity, his voice steady. “Yeah, if you hadn’t kept your head and given us clear instructions, we wouldn’t have made it out of there in one piece. Now I won’t get expelled... Thank goodness.” He exhaled deeply in relief.
Yuu smiled, grateful that everyone was okay. “I'm just glad no one got hurt. Teamwork really—”
Ace cut him off with a wave of his hand. “Yeah, yeah, save the moral of the story for later, can we? I’m beat.” He stretched lazily, rubbing at his sore shoulders.
Grim’s ears perked up as his stomach growled loudly. “Speaking of beat... all that fightin’ made me hungry! Wait, what’s this?” His eyes fell on something glittering near his feet, and he stooped to pick it up.
Deuce frowned as he leaned closer, examining the strange object in Grim’s paw. “Wait... is that a magestone? But why does it look like that? It’s black as coal… I've never seen one like this.”
Grim sniffed the stone with deep curiosity, his eyes brightening. “Ooooh, it smells *good*... Like, really good!” His tail swished excitedly behind him.
Ace's face twisted in disgust, immediately sensing trouble. “Are you nuts? That thing came from the monster we just beat! You’re not seriously thinking about *eating* it, are you?!”
But Grim, completely ignoring Ace, licked his lips and let out a little cackle. “If it smells this good, it’s gotta taste even better! Must be some kind of rare monster candy.” And before anyone could stop him, Grim took a massive bite out of the stone.
“Grim, no!” Yuu shouted, lunging forward to try and grab him.
Vivian’s eyes widened in horror, the implications of what Grim had just done flashing in her mind. This was bad. Really bad.
Ace and Deuce stared in shock as Yuu grabbed Grim, shaking him frantically. “Spit it out! NOW!” Yuu demanded.
“Myaaah! Let go of me, you crazy human!” Grim squawked, his paw batting at Yuu’s hands as he reluctantly spat out the remainder of the stone.
Deuce rushed over, his voice panicked. “Grim, are you okay?!” He hovered anxiously, his hands twitching as though unsure whether to help or scold.
Ace facepalmed with a groan. “Honestly, what did you expect from eating literal monster junk, Grim?”
For a moment, Grim looked dazed, like he might be about to keel over... and then his eyes sparkled. “Ooooh, hooo... That was *amazing*!”
Ace and Deuce blinked in disbelief. “Wait... What?!”
Grim, still caught up in the euphoria, sighed dreamily. “It was like... like eating the most fragrant flowers in bloom! All delicate and sweet! A whole garden of ‘em, right in my mouth!” He twirled dramatically, looking as though he were in a state of bliss.
Ace looked horrified. “Okay, gross. Monsters seriously have the weirdest taste buds.”
Deuce, nodding in agreement, added, “Yeah... Most humans don’t eat glowing rocks off the ground, Grim.”
Yuu, meanwhile, rubbed his temples, exasperated. “Grim, don’t ever do that again. Seriously.”
Grim waved off their concerns, grinning proudly. “Pffft, you guys worry too much. I’m fine! My stomach’s made of iron!”
Ace raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. “Let’s see if you’re still bragging after your stomach revolts later tonight.”
Deuce clapped his hands together, trying to refocus everyone. “Right! Let’s pull ourselves together and go. The sooner we get this stone out of our hands, the better.”
Grim, ever the drama king, huffed. “Myah, whatever! Just don’t forget who the real hero is!”
Yuu sighed, shaking his head. “Let’s just... go before something else happens.” He glanced warily at Grim, the worry not entirely gone from his eyes.

Night: Private Lab—Night Raven College
Vivian lingered at the window of her lab, her sapphire eyes following Yuu, Ace, Deuce, and Grim as they walked down the dimly lit path toward Night Raven College. The tension in her shoulders eased slightly as they retreated into the distance, but her expression remained serious. With a small, almost imperceptible wave of her hand, she released a subtle healing spell. The magic spread through the air like a whisper, cloaking the group in a faint glow that mended their cuts and bruises, easing their fatigue. It was a quiet gesture, unseen and unfelt, but necessary.
Teddy, floating beside her, let out a quiet sigh of relief, his tiny wings fluttering softly in the stillness. His usual mischievous grin had faded into an expression of quiet concern. "They’re tough, I’ll give ‘em that," he muttered, his gaze following the group until they disappeared from view. "But that was close."
Vivian’s lips curved slightly in response, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes. The lingering worry in her heart was clear, the weight of unspoken thoughts heavy on her mind. "Yeah... too close," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Her fingers absently traced patterns on the glass, her brow furrowed in thought.
Teddy tilted his head, his sharp eyes catching the faint tension in Vivian’s normally composed demeanor. "You’re thinking about that black stone Grim swallowed, aren’t you?" he asked, his tone unusually serious. "That wasn’t any ordinary magestone."
Vivian’s gaze darkened, her expression hardening as she recalled the ominous energy that had radiated from the stone. The light from her lab cast delicate shadows on her face, highlighting the sharp angles of her jaw as she considered the implications. "No, it wasn’t," she agreed quietly, her voice steady but troubled. "That stone was saturated with dark, forbidden magic. Grim shouldn’t have been able to consume something like that without severe consequences. The fact that he did... it’s unsettling."
Teddy hovered closer, his wings beating in slow, deliberate strokes as he thought. "And Yuu... he noticed it too, didn’t he? You could see the worry in his eyes the moment Grim bit into that thing."
Vivian nodded, her expression thoughtful as she turned toward the large crystalline screen that dominated one side of her lab. With a flick of her wrist, the screen hummed to life, displaying a swirling mass of magical data. Two distinct energy signatures appeared on the screen—one, a dense, chaotic swirl of dark magic pulsing from Grim, and the other, an almost imperceptible flicker of something faint, barely detectable, coming from Yuu.
Her sapphire eyes narrowed as she studied the readings, her sharp mind processing the implications. "This isn’t normal," she murmured, pointing to the faint speck of energy that represented Yuu. "He doesn’t have magic. By all accounts, he shouldn’t. And yet... here it is. Something ancient, something powerful, but buried so deep it’s almost impossible to detect."
Teddy’s eyes widened as he took in the data. His normally playful expression was replaced by one of deep contemplation, his small brow furrowing as he tried to understand what he was seeing. "It’s like a spark of something... something waiting to ignite," he mused quietly. "Could it be connected to the magic that brought you both here? Maybe this... flicker of power is tied to your inter-dimensional research."
Vivian’s lips pressed into a thin line, her mind racing with possibilities. "That’s what worries me," she admitted, her voice low. "This unknown magic, whatever it is, could be the key to understanding why we’re here. But if it’s tied to dark, forbidden energy like that stone... then Yuu and Grim might be in more danger than we realized."
Teddy’s usual bravado softened as he watched Vivian, his small frame almost dwarfed by the towering screens and shelves of magical equipment that filled the lab. He knew how much weight she carried—her responsibility as Crown Princess, her determination to protect those around her, and her relentless pursuit of answers. "You’re not alone in this, y’know," he said gently, his tone softer than usual. "I’m with you every step of the way. But you need to take care of yourself too."
Vivian’s eyes flickered with a brief moment of gratitude, but the resolve in her expression didn’t waver. "I appreciate that, Teddy. But I can’t afford to let my guard down now. There’s too much at stake."
Teddy sighed, his wings drooping slightly as he hovered closer. "I know, I know. But you’ve been pushing yourself hard lately. If you keep going like this, you’ll burn out before you find any answers."
Vivian’s gaze softened as she turned to look at Teddy, her expression warm despite the exhaustion that tugged at her. "You’re right," she conceded, her voice gentle. "I’ve been too focused on the bigger picture. We’ll continue the research, but for now... let’s get some rest."
Teddy’s eyes lit up with relief, his usual mischievous spark returning as he fluttered around her. "Finally! I thought I’d have to drag you back to bed myself."
Vivian chuckled softly, the sound light and almost musical, a brief reprieve from the weight she carried. "I’ll hold you to that," she teased, giving him a playful look as she started to turn away from the screen.
But before she could fully shift her focus, her gaze lingered one last time on the data swirling across the crystalline display. The faint flicker of magic tied to Yuu pulsed weakly, almost as if it was waiting—waiting for something to awaken it, to unlock its potential.
As Vivian and Teddy left the lab, the quiet hum of magical energy filled the air, a subtle reminder that the mysteries of Twisted Wonderland were far from over. And while the night’s events had unveiled new dangers, Vivian knew that the path ahead, though uncertain, would be one she faced with unwavering determination.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 5 | Prologue 7
Prologue 6
End of Third Year Orientation: Third Year Auditorium—Night Raven College
Vivian’s heart pounded in her chest as the third-year orientation concluded. Though she maintained a calm and composed exterior, the weight of countless gazes made her feel as though she were under a spotlight. She had anticipated this reaction, but experiencing it firsthand was far more daunting than she had expected.
Stay calm, Vivian, she reminded herself, her diamond-blue eyes sweeping the room. The third-year students were no ordinary group. Each was powerful and ambitious in their own right, and many of them were already legends within the walls of Night Raven College. They were the individuals she had spent years trying to avoid—the very figures who could disrupt her carefully laid plans.
Teddy flew close to her shoulder, his small but significant presence a steadying influence. His telepathic voice, laced with lighthearted encouragement, resonated in her mind. You’re doing great, Vivian. Just keep it together, and remember, you’ve got this. I’ll keep an eye out for any trouble.
Thanks, Teddy. Vivian replied, her thoughts whirling with the logistics of her escape plan. She scanned the room, mentally mapping out her route through the third-year auditorium, across the second-year building, and finally to the safety of her private lab behind Ramshackle Dorm. The distance seemed daunting, and every gaze felt like it could potentially derail her carefully laid plans.
As she gracefully rose from her seat, her movements were as fluid and deliberate as she could manage, though her mind was racing. The intensity of the stares from her peers was almost palpable, and she could feel their curiosity tugging at her composure. Every step she took was measured, her practiced elegance masking the tension beneath.
Leona Kingscholar’s eyes narrowed as he watched Vivian rise, his usual lazy posture and half-lidded gaze hiding the sharpness of his thoughts. So, the princess finally steps out of her tower, he mused, a mix of curiosity and irritation simmering beneath the surface. As the second prince of the Afterglow Savannah, Leona had little patience for royal games and even less interest in whatever power plays might be at work. Yet, he couldn’t ignore the timing of her appearance at Night Raven College.
What’s she up to? Leona’s thoughts were tinged with both suspicion and annoyance. He knew all too well how powerful she was, but the question that nagged at him was why she’d chosen to attend now, of all times. She’s not here for the lectures, that’s for sure.
His instincts, honed by years of navigating political traps and family dynamics, told him Vivian’s presence wasn’t just another student enrolling. It was a move on a much larger chessboard—one that could either be an opportunity or a threat, depending on how the pieces fell. This could get interesting... or really annoying.
Nearby, Vil Schoenheit’s gaze was equally intense but far more critical. His sharp eyes meticulously assessed every detail of Vivian’s appearance—from the elegance of her posture to the confidence in her stride. She’s the picture of refinement, he mused, though there was a flicker of envy beneath his composed exterior. Vil’s own relentless pursuit of perfection made him keenly attuned to potential rivals, and Vivian was no ordinary challenger.
She’s not just here to blend in; she’s here to make an impression. Vil’s thoughts were laser-focused, calculating the impact of Vivian’s presence on the delicate balance of power and influence at Night Raven College. As someone who held his image and status above all else, he understood better than most the power of perception. But Vivian’s sudden appearance made him wary—there was always more beneath the surface, especially with someone of her stature.
She’s a force to be reckoned with, but if she thinks she can outshine me, she’s in for a surprise. Vil was not one to be overshadowed. If Vivian was here to stir things up, then he would ensure that he remained not just a part of the story, but the star of it. If she plans to make waves, I’ll make sure I’m the one who rises above them.
Rook Hunt, seated beside Vil, was nearly vibrating with delight, his eyes locked onto Vivian’s every movement. Ah, la princesse céleste! Such elegance, such beauty! Rook’s mind was a whirlwind of poetic admiration, his heart racing with the thrill of the unknown. To witness such a rare gem in our midst—quelle merveille! Unlike Vil, Rook wasn’t preoccupied with competition or status; his fascination lay in the mystery that Vivian embodied.
What secrets dance behind those sapphire eyes? What tales does she hold in her heart? Rook’s thoughts were filled with wonder, each question more enticing than the last. He lived for the hunt, not of beasts, but of the extraordinary, and Vivian was the most exquisite puzzle he had ever encountered. Every step she takes, every breath—what a beautiful enigma she is!
For Rook, Vivian wasn’t just a princess; she was a living masterpiece, a legend come to life, and he was utterly captivated by the prospect of unraveling the layers of her story. To discover the truth within her—ah, c’est le véritable frisson!
Cater Diamond’s usual easygoing grin widened as he watched Vivian head toward the door. Whoa, this is next-level! The excitement bubbled in him like a fizzy potion. The Alcantara princess at NRC? That’s a whole feed’s worth of likes right there!
His mind raced with all the potential this situation offered—viral Magicam posts, a surge in followers, maybe even a few trending hashtags. I’ve gotta get a killer shot for the feed… but gotta be subtle about it. Don’t wanna spook her or look too thirsty.
Cater’s thoughts were a whirlwind of excitement mixed with his knack for strategy. Play it cool, Cay-Cay, he reminded himself, knowing that a heavy-handed approach wouldn’t work on someone like Vivian. She’s got the kind of vibe that sees right through the fakery, and the last thing I need is to come off as just another fanboy.
But beneath the surface-level excitement, Cater was already planning his next move. If I can slide into her good graces, this could open up a whole new network of connections. Imagine the clout… His eyes sparkled with the possibilities, but he knew better than to overplay his hand. Just gotta keep it real, be the fun guy she can’t help but vibe with.
In stark contrast, Idia Shroud sat slouched in his chair, the glow from his tablet casting eerie shadows over his face as he peered out from under his hood. His yellow eyes flicked nervously toward Vivian, a sinking feeling twisting his gut. Why does she have to be in Ignihyde? His thoughts raced, a frenzied mess of anxiety and borderline panic. She’s got that scepter… the freakin’ Hercules Scepter! That thing’s a nuke waiting to go off, and now it’s in my dorm! This is so bad…
Idia’s fingers twitched, his mind spiraling into the abyss of worst-case scenarios. What if she talks to me? What if she finds out I’m the housewarden? What if she brings her divine-magic-wielding self into my space? His heart pounded as each thought seemed more catastrophic than the last. Ugh, this is the ultimate nightmare. Like, final boss level of bad.
Used to hiding behind screens and avoiding all social interaction, Idia felt his world crumbling at the thought of Vivian’s presence. How am I supposed to stay invisible with her around? It’s not like I can just hack my way out of this. He slumped further into his chair, trying to make himself as small as possible. Okay, okay, think… just gotta stay low, keep her from noticing me. Maybe if I make Ortho her new best friend, she won’t even remember I exist.
His mind latched onto the plan as if it were a lifeline, though the fear still gnawed at him. Yeah, that’s it. Ortho’s good with people, he can handle her. I’ll just stay in my room, keep grinding my games, and pray she doesn’t blow the whole dorm to bits.
Malleus Draconia, seated in his usual solitary spot, observed Vivian with a gaze that held the weight of centuries. His emerald eyes, aglow with the ancient magic that flowed through his veins, reflected a profound contemplation. The Crown Princess of Twisted Wonderland… The title alone carried echoes of history, power, and destiny—concepts Malleus was all too familiar with. Her presence is like a ripple in the very fabric of this world.
As someone who had always walked the line between reverence and fear, Malleus could sense the latent power that Vivian carried, a power that resonated with his own. There’s a weight to her that’s not merely born of title or bloodline. She holds an aura of inevitability, much like myself. His thoughts were steeped in an understanding that transcended the mundane concerns of most beings.
He recognized in Vivian a kindred spirit, one who bore the burdens of expectations and destiny. This place, this world, has long awaited her arrival, as it did mine. But what does fate intend with our crossing paths? Malleus’s curiosity was piqued, not out of competition or fear, but out of a genuine desire to understand the role she was destined to play in the grand tapestry of Twisted Wonderland.
Her arrival is not mere happenstance. She is here for a reason, he mused, his thoughts echoing with the solemnity of one who had lived through ages. Malleus felt the stirrings of something ancient and inevitable, a sense that their paths were intertwined by forces beyond their control. And when the time comes, I shall see if our fates align—or clash.
Lilia Vanrouge’s lips curled into a subtle, knowing smile as he observed Vivian. His sharp, ancient eyes, gleaming with curiosity, betrayed none of the thoughts brewing behind his composed facade. How very intriguing, he mused, his mind flitting between amusement and a guarded wariness. The princess’s presence would undoubtedly stir the waters at Night Raven College, but Lilia’s instincts—honed over centuries—kept him vigilant. If she’s here with her sights set on the crown, that’s of no consequence to me, he pondered, already calculating the potential outcomes. But if her intentions are more sinister, something that could endanger those I hold dear… A shadow of something darker crossed his thoughts, a fleeting reminder of the responsibilities that came with his age and power.
Lilia wasn’t one to meddle without cause, preferring to observe and let events unfold naturally. Yet, he knew himself well enough to admit that should the situation turn dangerous, especially for those he cared about, sitting idly by might not be an option. He was eager to see the story Vivian would weave, but he’d be watching closely, ready to intervene should the need arise. After all, he thought with a quiet resolve, some tales require a hand to guide them away from tragedy.

After School Period: Third Year Building—Night Raven College
As Vivian finally exited the third-year auditorium, the cool air of the hallway greeted her. It was a small relief, but she knew the hardest part was yet to come—crossing through the second-year building. The third-year students might have been powerful and intimidating, but the second-years were no less formidable.
You’re doing great, Vivian, Teddy’s voice echoed in her mind, his tone laced with quiet encouragement.
Thanks, Teddy. I’m trying, but… Vivian’s thoughts wavered, tension creeping in despite her best efforts. It feels like everyone’s watching me.
Probably because they are, Teddy responded with a hint of amusement, trying to lighten her mood.
Vivian took a deep breath, steeling herself as she kept her expression calm and composed. I just have to keep it together. The last thing I need is to stand out even more.
She moved with purpose as she crossed into the second-year building. The hallways were less crowded, but the intensity of the stares was no less daunting. The second-year students were more composed, their expressions guarded and thoughtful, observing her with the scrutiny of those who understood the power dynamics within Night Raven College.
Azul Ashengrotto stood near the entrance, his expression composed but his mind already whirring with calculations. The Alcantara princess, he mused, intrigued by the potential this development offered. An intriguing addition to our little academic world.
If she’s here, it’s clearly not just for a normal education, Azul thought, his shrewd mind quickly considering how he might leverage this situation. Information is invaluable, and I need to find a way to gather as much as possible. His thoughts turned to strategy. Perhaps a simple greeting is the best way to start—something to ensure my name gets lodged in her memory.
He envisioned a greeting that was casual yet sophisticated, one that would make him memorable without coming across as overly opportunistic. An introduction that’s smooth but not too forward might open doors for future interactions. Azul’s mind raced with ideas on how to present himself as both charming and strategically valuable.
I’ll wait for the right moment, he decided, one where a well-placed introduction could set the stage for more significant dealings down the line. His eyes gleamed with a mix of ambition and anticipation. A carefully executed greeting could be the first step in weaving a web of opportunity, and Azul was determined to make it count.
Kalim Al-Asim’s face lit up with his trademark bright smile the moment he spotted Vivian approaching. The princess! I should go say hi! His thoughts bubbled over with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. She’s probably here to make friends! Maybe even to have some fun! Kalim’s boundless optimism painted a world where everyone was just waiting to be his friend, and the idea of meeting someone as important as Vivian filled him with pure excitement. Without a second thought, he began to move toward her, his usual carefree demeanor leading the way. I bet she’s got some amazing stories! I can’t wait to hear them!
But before he could reach her, Jamil Viper stepped in, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. Jamil’s expression remained calm, but his eyes told a different story—sharp, calculating, and always a step ahead. Not so fast, Kalim. Jamil’s thoughts were far more measured, as he quickly assessed the situation. The Alcantara princess… her presence here is no coincidence.
Unlike Kalim, Jamil knew that such high-profile figures rarely appeared without a reason. She’s not here to make friends, Jamil thought, his mind rapidly considering all the potential ramifications of Kalim getting too close too quickly. She’s here for something far more serious. We need to be cautious. Jamil’s protective instincts flared as he envisioned the possible dangers and pitfalls of Kalim’s impulsive nature. As always, I’ll need to keep an eye on him… Jamil resolved, knowing that Kalim’s friendly approach, while well-meaning, could lead to complications they weren’t prepared for.
As Jamil subtly guided Kalim away from Vivian, Ruggie Bucchi’s sharp eyes tracked the exchange from further down the hallway. He clicked his tongue, already sensing trouble. Kalim’s enthusiasm is definitely gonna stir the pot, Ruggie mused, a sly grin tugging at his lips, but chaos like this is where opportunities pop up.
He stayed back, blending into the background with practiced ease, his calculating gaze never leaving the scene. With someone like the princess around, things are bound to get interesting—and I’m not about to let that slip by without snagging a piece for myself.
Further down the hallway, Floyd Leech leaned lazily against the wall, his mismatched eyes tracking Vivian with a blend of curiosity and mischief. Heh, so the princess is finally out and about, he thought, a wide grin stretching across his face. Wonder if she’s gonna be a little fish worth chasing, or if she’ll just flop around like all the others.
Floyd’s playful nature saw Vivian’s presence as a potential source of amusement—something to spice up the day. Maybe she’ll do something interesting... or maybe I’ll just have to poke her to see what happens. Either way, he was ready for some fun.
In contrast, Jade Leech’s demeanor remained composed and reserved as he observed Vivian. How intriguing, he mused, his sharp mind already calculating the ripple effects of her presence. The princess in our midst… she’s bound to stir the waters.
Jade’s lips curled into a subtle smile, his thoughts teetering between curiosity and caution. This could be quite entertaining—or potentially hazardous, he considered, the thrill of the unknown piquing his interest. Either way, it would be wise to keep a close eye on her. She might prove to be a valuable ally… or an intriguing adversary.
Just then, Riddle Rosehearts emerged from a nearby corridor, his gaze narrowing as he caught sight of Vivian. Though his expression remained stern, his thoughts raced with concern and determination. The Alcantara princess... Riddle’s rigid sense of order and discipline instantly flagged her as a potential source of disruption. Someone like her could easily throw everything off balance.
His grip tightened slightly, the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders. I won’t allow chaos to spread under my watch, he resolved, his mind already outlining how he would handle any disturbances. If she steps out of line, I’ll be ready to set things straight. The rules exist for a reason, and I won’t let anyone, not even a princess, undermine them.
Vivian, feeling the weight of so many eyes upon her, continued on her way with deliberate steps. Each glance and murmur in her direction only served to heighten her resolve to reach her lab without further incident. The last thing she needed was another interruption, especially with the delicate research waiting for her.
As they walked, Teddy's voice echoed gently in her mind, laced with amusement. You’d think they’ve never seen a princess before, he quipped, trying to lighten the mood. Honestly, the way they’re staring, you’d expect a parade to break out any second.
Vivian couldn’t help but let out a soft, almost imperceptible sigh at Teddy's attempt to make her smile. If only it were that simple, she replied telepathically, her tone a mix of weariness and focus. We just need to get to the lab. We can’t afford any distractions right now.
Oh, come on, Teddy nudged playfully, where’s your sense of fun? I mean, how often does a royal make an entrance like this? They’re probably just stunned by your brilliance—or maybe they’re wondering if you’re about to pull off some grand magical feat.
Vivian’s lips twitched slightly, almost forming a smile at his words, but she quickly reined it in. Maybe they’re just hoping I’ll trip over my own feet, she joked lightly, though the tension in her voice was still palpable. Let’s just get through this without any surprises, okay?
Teddy’s tone shifted slightly, taking on a more serious edge. But what if someone tries to follow us? he asked, his concern evident. You know how curious people can get. We don’t want any unwanted visitors at the lab.
Vivian’s gaze remained steady as they neared the grand, arched doors leading to the hallway connecting to Main Street. The marble beneath her feet was cool and smooth, and her steps echoed softly with a rhythmic click. We’ve already put the necessary precautions in place, Teddy, she reassured him, her tone calm and confident. If anyone tries to follow us to the lab, they’ll find themselves wishing they were anywhere else. Trust me, we’ll be fine.
I know, Teddy conceded, though he couldn’t quite shake the worry from his mind. But I’ll keep an eye out, just in case.
Vivian nodded, appreciating his vigilance. The faster we can get back to our research, the better, she said, her focus shifting back to the tasks ahead. We have too much to do.
Teddy's tone lightened again as he replied, Agreed. And don’t forget, we still need to keep an eye on Yuu and all the upcoming events.
Absolutely, Vivian agreed, her determination firm. Let’s stay sharp and handle whatever comes our way. We have work to do and a lot of things to monitor.
As they continued, the sound of Vivian’s footsteps was interrupted by a familiar voice. “Princess Vivian!”
Vivian paused, subtly adjusting her posture as she prepared for the interaction. Teddy let out a silent, resigned sigh. So much for a smooth exit, he quipped, already bracing for whatever might come next.
They turned to see Azul Ashengrotto approaching with his usual air of confidence, his movements smooth and calculated. His eyes, sharp and discerning behind his glasses, regarded her with a mixture of curiosity and strategic interest. Teddy’s thoughts were lively with humor. Oh look, it’s Mr. Smooth Talker! If he starts offering you a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ deal or a free consultation, just remember, it’s probably like buying a used broom with extra sparkles. Smile and nod—he’s got that sales pitch down to an art form.
Vivian kept her gaze steady and replied, her tone polite yet neutral. “Yes?”
Azul’s practiced smile widened, though his eyes glinted with intrigue. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Princess. I’m Azul Ashengrotto, housewarden of Octavinelle.” His words flowed smoothly, each one chosen with care. “I couldn’t help but notice your presence and thought it only appropriate to introduce myself.”
Teddy chuckled inwardly. If he starts talking about exclusive VIP access to something, remember: you’re not buying a magic carpet ride, you’re just meeting the local tour guide. Just keep your smile and don’t let him sell you a “limited-edition” potion.
Vivian’s expression remained composed as she nodded gracefully. “Thank you, Mr. Ashengrotto. It’s nice to meet you as well,” she said, striving to keep her tone cordial while maintaining her intent to keep the interaction brief. She was about to excuse herself when an energetic voice interrupted.
“Hi there! I’m Kalim Al-Asim! It’s great to finally meet you!” Kalim’s approach was as bright and enthusiastic as ever, his golden eyes sparkling with genuine excitement. He extended a hand eagerly, clearly thrilled to make her acquaintance.
Teddy grinned mentally. Here comes the human confetti bomb. If he tries to drag you into a spontaneous dance party or insists you join every club on campus, just remember: he’s got a PhD in “over-the-top enthusiasm.” Smile and keep your escape routes in mind.
Before Vivian could respond further, Jamil smoothly stepped in, his voice calm and composed. “Excuse us, Princess Vivian. Kalim can be a bit... exuberant. We didn’t mean to keep you. Please, don’t let us delay you.”
Teddy thought with a snicker. Ah, Jamil, the master of ‘Please, let’s not turn this into a circus.’ He’s like the designated adult at a kid’s party, making sure things don’t get too wild. Smile and use his exit strategy as your escape plan.
Vivian offered a grateful smile, appreciating the swift intervention. “Thank you for your consideration,” she replied, her smile meant to be a polite farewell.
The very air seemed to shimmer around her, and the light from the sun appeared to dance off her sapphire eyes, making them sparkle with an ethereal glow. It was as if time itself had momentarily paused, caught in the spell of her smile.
Azul’s typically unshakable demeanor wavered, his eyes widening ever so slightly as he fought to maintain his composure. The warmth creeping up his neck was unexpected, and for a brief moment, he was genuinely caught off guard. What... is this? His mind raced, trying to dissect the unfamiliar sensation that was making his usually meticulous plans suddenly feel more precarious. The subtle heat in his cheeks was both unsettling and intriguing, throwing him off balance in a way he hadn’t anticipated. This could complicate things, he mused, his thoughts spinning as he struggled to regain control. She’s more dangerous than I thought—if I’m not careful, I could end up in a very tricky position.
Kalim, on the other hand, was completely awe-struck. His eyes lit up, and his heart swelled with a warmth that felt like sunshine on a perfect day. The blush on his cheeks deepened, but he didn’t even care. Wow, she’s like a real-life princess out of a fairytale! Her smile wrapped around him like a cozy blanket, filling him with a pure, genuine joy. I have to be her friend, he thought, his enthusiasm bubbling over. She’s amazing—I just know we’d have so much fun together! His mind was already spinning with ideas on how to make her feel welcome, eager to share that warmth with her.
Jamil, usually the picture of calm and control, found himself momentarily thrown off balance. It was the first time he could admit—if only to himself—that someone had such an undeniably captivating smile. This is... unexpected, he thought, his heart betraying him with an uncharacteristic flutter.
I don’t like it—not one bit. The realization that his value in her eyes might be influenced by something as trivial as a smile made him uneasy. I can’t afford to be distracted by this, he mused, a sense of discomfort settling in. This is unsettling... I need to keep my focus, no matter how charming she appears. His mind was already working to push the feeling aside, determined not to let this unexpected reaction interfere with his responsibilities.
However, it wasn’t just them; the four bystanders who had been observing from afar were also just as affected. Ruggie Bucchi, typically the embodiment of pragmatic detachment, found himself momentarily thrown off. What just happened? His usually laid-back demeanor faltered under the surprising effect of her smile. A blush crept up his cheeks, a reaction he wasn’t accustomed to. This isn’t like me, he thought, trying to regain his usual cool. Maybe it’s better to keep my distance. Ruggie made a conscious effort to mask his discomfort, unsettled by how easily his emotional equilibrium had been disrupted.
Floyd Leech, ever the playful troublemaker, found himself unexpectedly thrown off. What the…? His heart raced with an unfamiliar excitement, and he couldn’t quite figure out why his pulse was quickening or why his cheeks felt oddly warm. The sensation was strange, but it stirred his curiosity. She feels like a burst of magic, Floyd thought, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. I like it. Looks like she’s not just some goody-two-shoes after all.
Jade Leech, who prided himself on his impeccable composure, found his heart beating more rapidly than usual. This is… peculiar. The experience was unsettlingly out of character, yet he couldn’t ignore the growing curiosity it sparked within him. Her smile had unsettled his usual calm, revealing an unexpected layer of intrigue. So this is the power of an Alcantara, Jade thought, a hint of fascination creeping into his otherwise controlled demeanor. I’ll have to observe this further. It seems there is more to her than meets the eye.
Riddle Rosehearts, ever the model of discipline and self-control, felt a rare disruption in his emotional equilibrium. Why does my heart feel so... unsettled? The warmth spreading through him was both comforting and alarming, a combination he wasn’t accustomed to. He struggled to maintain his usual composed exterior as his face grew uncomfortably warm. I’m not sure if I appreciate this feeling or not, he thought, the conflict between his need for order and this strange, pleasant sensation leaving him at a loss. This is... distracting, and I don’t like being distracted. Riddle’s inner turmoil was tinged with a mix of curiosity and unease, as he grappled with this unexpected challenge to his carefully maintained composure.
As Vivian turned to continue on her way, she remained blissfully unaware of the ripple effect she had caused.
As Vivian turned to continue on her way, she remained blissfully unaware of the ripple effect her smile had caused. Each of the observers was struck by the same realization, though their reactions varied—whether it was Azul’s calculating intrigue, Floyd’s gleeful curiosity, Jade’s deepening fascination, Kalim’s awe-struck wonder, Jamil’s unsettling distraction, Ruggie’s cautious wariness, or Riddle’s uneasy captivation.
That smile… it was just like a spell.
The shared sentiment bound them together in that fleeting moment, the lingering effect of her smile casting a spell that none of them could easily shake off.
Teddy followed behind Vivian, clearly amused. That was a masterclass in “Smile and Watch Everyone Lose Their Minds.”
He glanced back, still grinning. Azul looks like he just saw his bank account after a surprise fee—his face is a mix of shock and disbelief, like he’s trying to figure out how to return a smile that’s not even in the fine print. You can almost hear him mumbling, “But where’s the refund policy?” Kalim, on the other hand, seems ready to start a fan club—his excitement is so palpable it’s almost like he’s about to organize a flash mob in her honor. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already drafting a ‘Welcome to the Club’ banner.
Teddy snickered as he continued. And Jamil? He’s probably drafting a new policy titled “Smile Management 101,” complete with a mandatory workshop for handling charm overload. He might even call in a specialist. Floyd’s got that look like he’s plotting a new game—“Guess the Smile’s Hidden Powers,” with bonus points for surviving the resulting chaos. He’s probably already brainstorming ways to turn it into a betting pool.
Jade’s already drafting an article—“The Smile That Made Me Question Reality,” with footnotes on the psychological impact of sudden charm and an appendix on how to recover from it. And Riddle? He’s in full-on rule-making mode—probably drafting a new school rule: ‘No Smiles Allowed in the Hallways’—because clearly, a smile that powerful is just too disruptive for his orderly world. He’s probably going to add an extra chapter to his rulebook on how to maintain decorum in the presence of irresistible charm.
Teddy followed behind Vivian, his internal laughter almost bubbling over. Well, Vivian, you’ve officially turned a regular day into a full-blown comedy show. If smiles were currency, you’d be a billionaire by now! Oh, wait—you already are!
He shook his head, chuckling to himself. Next time, maybe I should remind her to give everyone a little heads-up before she unleashes her charm. Some of us are just trying to avoid spontaneous fan clubs, academic research, and newly implemented rules. If she keeps this up, we might need to schedule regular ‘Smile Management’ sessions.
Teddy's amusement shifted to curiosity as he considered the reactions of the other main characters. I wonder how the rest of the gang will react to her. Riddle’s probably already plotting his no-smiling rule, Azul’s scrambling to revise his business strategies, and Kalim’s planning a parade. And the others? They’re probably trying to figure out if her smile comes with a user manual. Can’t wait to see how they handle this. If she keeps up this smile magic, things are going to get even more interesting around here.
He followed Vivian with a grin, eager to see how the rest of the cast would respond to the enchantment of her presence.
———————————————————————————
After School Period: Main Street—Night Raven College
As Vivian stepped onto Main Street, the cool afternoon air provided a refreshing contrast to the day's earlier intensity. The sky was bathed in soft golden hues, adding a peaceful backdrop to the bustling scene below. Teddy, walking by her side, broke the silence with a playful tone.
You know, you made quite an impression back there, Teddy began, his voice laced with amusement. Azul looked like he just got hit with a surprise fee, Kalim was practically ready to throw a party in your honor, and Jamil—well, I think you just broke his internal processor.
Vivian raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Really? I didn’t think it was anything special.
Oh, it was, Teddy assured her with a grin. And it wasn’t just them. Ruggie seemed like he was trying to solve a puzzle he didn’t even know existed, Floyd was actually speechless—imagine that—and Jade, well, he looked like he just found a new species to study. As for Riddle, I almost felt sorry for the guy. He was blushing so hard, I thought he might set a new school rule: “No more smiles allowed!”
Vivian couldn’t help but chuckle, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly. I had no idea I had that kind of effect on people.
You do, Teddy said with a knowing look. But hey, if it gets you to relax a bit, I say it’s worth it. And just wait—I’m curious to see how the others will react next time.
Teddy's lighthearted comments did their job, helping Vivian ease up as they continued down the street.
But there's something else you should see, Teddy said, his tone laced with curiosity as he signaled toward the growing commotion ahead.
Vivian’s gaze followed his direction, and her eyes narrowed as she took in the chaotic scene unfolding on Main Street. There, amidst the afternoon bustle, were Yuu, Ace, and Deuce—frantically chasing after Grim, who was darting through the crowd with a mischievous grin on his face. The sight of her old friend in the thick of things made her heart skip a beat, a flood of emotions and memories surging to the forefront of her mind.
Hidden in the shadows of a nearby building, Vivian remained still, her breath caught in her throat. There was no mistaking it—Yuu was here, right in front of her, his face now fully visible and unmistakably familiar. This was her best friend, trapped in a world that neither of them was ever meant to inhabit.
Her eyes softened as she watched the familiar scene play out before her. Yuu, Ace, and Deuce were clearly struggling, their exasperated expressions speaking volumes. They were supposed to be cleaning 100 windows as punishment, but Grim had other plans, leading them on a wild chase that seemed destined to end in even more trouble. It was almost funny—if it weren’t so heart-wrenching.
Yuu looked both the same and different—his determined expression was still there, the same fire she remembered from their childhood. But now, there was a new layer to it, a weight that hadn’t been there before. The burden of this unfamiliar world had left its mark on him, and Vivian could see it in the tension in his shoulders, the way his eyes darted around as he tried to keep up with the unruly cat-like creature.
Vivian’s fingers twitched, her instinct to reach out almost overwhelming. She wanted to call out to him, to step into the light and let him know he wasn’t alone. But she knew better. If she revealed herself now, it would draw too much attention, potentially unraveling everything she had worked so hard to achieve. The delicate balance of her plans relied on her remaining unseen, and as much as it hurt, she had to stay in the shadows.
Her mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions—desperation to reconnect with Yuu and the cold logic that reminded her of the risks. If she interfered now, it could jeopardize everything, including Yuu’s safety. She had to stay the course, to protect him from afar, even if it meant staying hidden for a while longer.
Teddy, noticing Vivian’s intense focus, looked back at the scene with curiosity. After a moment, he leaned closer and asked quietly, Is that the friend you’ve told me about? The one from your past life, Yuu?
Vivian’s focus remained on Yuu as he tried to corral Grim. She nodded slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. Yes, that’s him.
Teddy’s eyes widened slightly in understanding, a hint of admiration in his expression. Well, he certainly looks like he’s in the middle of a crisis. From what you’ve said, I can see why you’d be concerned.
Vivian turned to Teddy, her expression a mixture of gratitude and resolve. It’s him. I want to help him, but not yet. I need to be careful.
Teddy nodded, respecting her decision. I get it. Just remember, if you need support—
Vivian cut him off with a small, reassuring smile. Thank you. For now, I’ll just keep watching over him.
As Yuu, Ace, and Deuce led Grim back into the school, Vivian and Teddy quietly slipped away from their hiding spot. Their footsteps were soft on the polished floors as they made their way to their private lab, each lost in thought about the day's unfolding drama.
Inside the lab, a harmonious blend of high-tech gadgets and magical artifacts created a unique ambiance. Teddy, leaning casually against a workbench, watched Vivian with a mix of curiosity and playful mischief. “Ready to dive back into the research?”
Vivian, absorbed in contemplation, barely acknowledged the question. She shook her head, her gaze focused on the array of monitors and magical sensors scattered around the room. “Actually, let’s pause the research for now. I want to keep an eye on Yuu and the others.”
Teddy raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise in his voice. “Oh? And what’s got you so interested in them?”
Vivian’s expression was thoughtful, her brow furrowed as she considered the implications. “If Yuu and I both ended up in Twisted Wonderland, there might be more to our presence here than mere coincidence. It’s possible that our arrival is linked to the larger events unfolding in this world. By observing Yuu, we might uncover whether there’s a deeper connection.”
Teddy’s eyes sparkled with intrigue. “So, you’re suggesting there’s a link between your situation and the current events?”
Vivian nodded, her voice gaining a touch of excitement. “Exactly. One of our key objectives is to access the Great Seven’s archives. If Yuu and I are somehow connected, clues about this connection could be hidden in those archives. By monitoring Yuu closely, we might detect unusual energy patterns or occurrences that could guide us toward understanding the bigger picture.”
Teddy’s grin widened, clearly enjoying the shift in focus. “Got it. You’re thinking that if there’s any strange energy around Yuu, it might point us to something significant related to the archives or your connection.”
Vivian smiled, a spark of determination in her eyes. “Precisely. Identifying any strange or significant energy patterns could reveal why we’re both here and what it means in the context of the Great Seven’s work. It’s a way to narrow down our search and connect the dots between the archives and our situation.”
Teddy chuckled, clearly eager about the new plan. “Alright then. Let’s set up our monitoring and see what we can uncover. Gathering more data might help us piece together the larger puzzle.”
With a sense of purpose, Vivian and Teddy moved to the central control panel. Vivian activated the holographic monitor, and a dazzling array of screens sprang to life, displaying various locations around the school in real-time. The central screen focused on the bustling cafeteria, where Yuu, Ace, and Deuce were still hot on Grim’s trail.
Vivian’s fingers danced over the controls as she zoomed in on the cafeteria feed. “There they are,” she said, her voice filled with quiet determination. “Let’s keep an eye on them and see if anything unusual comes up.”
The lab buzzed softly with the hum of magical and technological equipment, creating a focused atmosphere. Multiple screens showed different parts of the school, allowing them to monitor the situation from various angles. As the holographic display continued to update, Vivian and Teddy leaned in, their eyes sharp with anticipation.
Each observation could bring them closer to unraveling the mysteries of their shared fate and understanding the significance of their presence in Twisted Wonderland. With the cafeteria scene prominently displayed, they prepared to delve deeper into the enigma surrounding Yuu and their intertwined destinies.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 4 | Prologue 6
Prologue 5
Second Year Orientation: Second Year Auditorium—Night Raven College
After the brief reprieve in her lab, Vivian felt more centered, ready to face the next hurdle—attending the second-year orientation. The teleportation from her private lab to the second-year building was seamless, with Teddy once again by her side. The familiar sensation of magic enveloped her as they reappeared in the hallway outside the auditorium where the orientation was being held.
The atmosphere in the second-year building was noticeably different from the first-year wing. There was an air of familiarity among the students, a shared history absent in the previous orientation. The second-year students were less frantic, more composed, but no less curious about the new addition to their ranks.
As Vivian walked toward the auditorium, she could feel the weight of their stares—more focused and discerning than those of the first-years. These students had been at Night Raven College for a year now—they understood the dynamics of the school, the power structures, and the significance of the Alcantara name. Her diamond-blue eyes once again drew immediate attention, a silent reminder of her prestigious lineage.
The whispers started as soon as she entered the hallway, and by the time she reached the auditorium doors, they had grown into a soft murmur that followed her every step.
“Is that really her? The Crown Princess?”
“She’s even more stunning in person… Those eyes, they’re unmistakable.”
“I heard she’s already working on top-secret projects. No wonder she has her own lab.”
Vivian kept her expression neutral, her stride confident yet unassuming as she made her way through the sea of students. Teddy floated by her side, ever vigilant, his presence a silent deterrent to anyone who might think of approaching her directly. Despite the whispers, the second-year students seemed more reserved in their curiosity—perhaps out of respect, or perhaps because they understood the gravity of her presence more than the first-years did.
As she entered the auditorium, the hushed conversations ceased, replaced by an expectant silence. The room was filled with students, all eyes turning towards her as she made her way to an empty seat near the middle. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, a mix of curiosity and wariness hanging in the air.
Vivian took her seat, her back straight, eyes forward, as she mentally prepared for the orientation ahead. Teddy settled beside her, his wings folding neatly as he perched on the edge of her desk. The other students around her exchanged glances, some trying to catch her eye, others simply staring in awe.
As the teachers entered the room, the students’ focus momentarily shifted, but Vivian could still feel their attention lingering on her.
Kalim Al-Asim sat with Jamil Viper, his golden eyes sparkling with genuine excitement and curiosity. He leaned over to Jamil, whispering in awe, “Wow! She’s really here, Jamil! I’ve heard so much about her! She’s even cooler in person!” Kalim’s enthusiasm was palpable, his usual exuberance barely contained.
Jamil Viper, seated right next to Kalim, observed Vivian with a more guarded expression. His eyes narrowed slightly as he took in her composed demeanor and the way she carried herself. She’s definitely not someone to underestimate, he thought, the strategist in him already considering what her presence might mean for the delicate balance of power among the students.
Silver sat quietly, watching Vivian with a calm, unreadable expression. His training as a knight had taught him to assess situations with a level head, and though he recognized the importance of her lineage, he wasn’t as easily swayed by her title. Instead, he found himself more intrigued by her aura of quiet strength. She doesn’t seem like the type to seek attention, he mused, but attention finds her anyway.
Ruggie Bucchi was seated a few seats ahead, his sharp eyes flickering with interest as he considered the possibilities of Vivian’s arrival. She’s got access to resources most of us can only dream of, he thought, already calculating how he might turn this to his advantage. But he also recognized the risks of getting too close. Better watch my step around her, he decided.
Azul Ashengrotto, flanked by Jade and Floyd Leech, viewed Vivian as both a potential ally and a potential threat. His mind was already racing with possibilities. Her influence could be quite beneficial, he thought, but I’ll need to approach this carefully. The Alcantara name carries weight, and one misstep could be costly.
Jade’s eyes gleamed with interest as he observed Vivian, sensing the potential for intrigue, while Floyd looked slightly bored but perked up at the thought of someone new to mess with.
Riddle Rosehearts, seated in the front row, was as rigid and disciplined as ever. He regarded Vivian with a critical eye. As the strict and rule-abiding Housewarden of Heartslabyul, he wasn’t easily impressed by titles alone. She’ll have to prove herself just like everyone else, he thought, though he couldn’t deny a certain apprehension about what her presence might mean for the order he so meticulously maintained.
As the teachers began the orientation, the students' attention was divided between the information being presented and their thoughts about the new addition to their ranks. Vivian, for her part, remained focused, her expression betraying none of the emotions swirling within her.
The doors at the front of the auditorium swung open with a creak, and in walked the teachers, commanding immediate attention. Among them was Professor Mozus Trein, whom she had just met during homeroom. The sight of the familiar professor offered slight comfort, though she knew this would be no less challenging than the previous orientation.
Trein stepped forward, his gaze sweeping over the gathered students. “Welcome back to another year at Night Raven College,” he began, his voice steady and authoritative. “I trust you’ve all had a productive summer and are prepared to tackle the challenges ahead. As second-years, you are no longer the newcomers—you know what this institution demands of you. I expect each of you to show greater vigilance and discipline this year. There is no room for complacency.”
His words were met with attentive silence, the gravity of his expectations sinking in. Trein’s gaze then settled on Vivian. “Today, we also welcome a new addition to our ranks. As some of you may already be aware, Vivian de Alcantara has been chosen by the Dark Mirror to attend Night Raven College. Though her official status is that of a first-year, her classes will primarily be with both second and third-year students.”
A ripple of murmurs spread through the room, the weight of Trein’s words sinking in. He didn’t need to address her status; they already knew once the name Alcantara was mentioned. Vivian could feel the eyes of the second-years on her, their curiosity now tinged with a deeper understanding of who she was and what she represented. They weren’t just looking at a new student—they were looking at someone who could potentially shape the future of their world.
Trein continued, his gaze never leaving Vivian. “In addition to her unique academic schedule, Vivian has been granted permission to have her familiar, Theodore, accompany her at all times. Furthermore, the area where she conducts research is strictly forbidden to all students.”
The murmurs grew louder, some students exchanging incredulous looks. It wasn’t just her status as a princess that set her apart, but the privileges she had been granted—privileges that underscored the importance of her presence at the school.
Vivian remained composed, her expression unreadable as she absorbed the reactions around her. She knew her presence here would be a topic of discussion, but she hadn’t anticipated just how intense the scrutiny would be. Teddy, sensing her discomfort, leaned closer, offering silent support.
As Trein stepped back, another figure stepped forward, commanding the attention of the entire room. Professor Divus Crewel, dressed in his signature black-and-white ensemble, his presence was as striking as ever. He cast a sharp, discerning gaze over the students before locking eyes with Vivian.
“Welcome, pups,” Crewel began, his voice smooth yet authoritative. “As you embark on your second year at Night Raven College, you will be expected to uphold the standards of this institution and excel in your studies. I expect nothing less than perfection from each of you.”
His words hung in the air, a challenge to the students, who listened intently, their gazes flickering between Crewel and Vivian. The tension in the room was palpable, a mix of respect and trepidation.
Crewel continued, his tone shifting as he addressed the elephant in the room. “And to our new student, Vivian de Alcantara, you have already made quite an impression. Her presence here will undoubtedly raise the bar for all of you. Let that be a lesson—there’s always someone who can outshine you, and it’s up to you to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
His words were a clear warning to the other students, but also a subtle acknowledgment of Vivian’s potential to disrupt the status quo. The room was silent as the weight of his statement settled over them.
Vivian met Crewel’s gaze, her expression calm and composed, but inside she was already bracing herself for what was to come. The second-year students were a different challenge altogether, and she knew she would have to navigate this new environment carefully.
———————————————————————————
End of Second Year Orientation: Second-Year Auditorium—Night Raven College
As the final moments of the second-year orientation wound down, the atmosphere in the auditorium was a blend of relief and lingering excitement. The students, having absorbed the details of their upcoming year, now turned their attention to Vivian as she prepared to depart. Teddy floated beside her, a subtle yet constant reminder of her unique status.
Vivian rose from her seat with practiced grace, her movements deliberate and fluid. Her posture was confident, her demeanor composed, aimed at conveying a sense of control and poise despite the attention swirling around her. The students’ eyes were glued to her as she made her way down the aisle, their curiosity evident in the whispered conversations that followed her.
Kalim Al-Asim watched Vivian with a mix of awe and enthusiasm. His golden eyes sparkled as he nudged Jamil Viper. “She’s even prettier in person, don’t you think?” he whispered, his voice a blend of excitement and genuine admiration. “I’ve heard the stories and legends about her, but seeing her here... it’s like a dream come true.”
Jamil Viper, seated next to Kalim, observed Vivian with a more guarded expression. He studied her composed demeanor and the silent grace with which she carried herself. “Yes, she is impressive,” he admitted, his tone cautious. “But we should be wary. Her presence could shift the balance of power among us.” His thoughts tried to puzzle out the mystery of her arrival. For my plans to proceed, it’s crucial I understand what her goals are.
Silver, who had been quietly observing from the edge of his seat, kept his eyes on Vivian as she walked. His expression remained calm and inscrutable, though his thoughts were reflective. She seems to prefer solitude, he noted to himself, taking in her unassuming manner. Her aura suggests a depth that’s not immediately obvious. It might be wise to keep a respectful distance.
Ruggie Bucchi, watched Vivian with sharp, calculating eyes. His thoughts were pragmatic as he considered the practicalities of her presence. Getting on her good side would definitely be beneficial, he mused, his mind already turning over potential advantages. But she’s also clearly got her own agenda. Better to be cautious and keep an eye on what she’s up to.
Azul Ashengrotto sat with Jade and Floyd Leech, his mind racing with possibilities. He regarded Vivian with a blend of intrigue and strategic calculation. A Crown Princess, CEO, and the holder of the most powerful weapon in the world… If I play my cards right, her influence could be very beneficial. But I’ll need to approach this situation carefully. Her status and resources mean she’s not someone to cross lightly, he thought.
Jade Leech’s gaze was intense as he observed Vivian. His interest was piqued by her enigmatic presence and the potential for intrigue. There’s more to her than meets the eye, he thought, his curiosity sharpened by her arrival. I’ll have to be mindful of how this plays out. There’s a lot I can learn from this.
Floyd Leech, seated next to Jade, was more indifferent, though he couldn’t entirely ignore the novelty of the situation. She’s got a lot of hype, he remarked, his tone casual. Could be fun to see how she handles herself, or if she’s just another face in the crowd.
Riddle Rosehearts, always focused on order and discipline, maintained a critical eye on Vivian as she walked. His face was a mask of professionalism, but his thoughts were contemplative. Her name and title may be impressive, but can she truly live up to them? he thought, already analyzing how her presence might impact the rules and order he maintained. It’ll be important to see how she integrates into the system.
As Vivian and Teddy made their way down the aisle toward the exit, the students’ murmurs grew louder, their curiosity transforming into a more tangible buzz. The excitement of the orientation had given way to speculation about the new student who had captured their collective interest.
Kalim leaned toward Jamil, his voice low but animated. “I wonder if we’ll get to work with her on any projects. That could be amazing.”
Jamil shrugged slightly, his gaze following Vivian’s retreating figure. “Or it could mean more competition. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Silver allowed a small, contemplative smile to cross his lips. She seems to have a lot on her plate. I’m interested to see how she manages everything.
Ruggie watched as Vivian left, his thoughts practical. She’s definitely someone to watch. I’ll keep an eye out for any opportunities that might arise from her presence.
Azul’s mind was already working through strategies. There’s potential here. I’ll need to approach this situation with care and perhaps offer a gesture of goodwill.
Jade and Floyd exchanged looks, the latter shrugging slightly. “Could be fun,” Floyd said nonchalantly. “Or not. We’ll see.”
Riddle, with a critical eye, made a mental note to observe how Vivian’s presence might affect the dynamics of the second-year students. Order must be maintained, he thought. Her integration into the system will be an important factor.
As the final whispers and glances followed Vivian’s departure, she walked with purpose toward the hallway, her mind already transitioning to the next challenge. The corridor outside offered a brief respite from the intensity of the second-year students’ scrutiny, and she took a deep breath, steadying herself for the third-year orientation.
Teddy floated beside her, his presence a reassuring constant. Vivian glanced at him, her thoughts focused on her goal of blending in and maintaining a low profile as she prepared to face the next phase of her day. The transition from one auditorium to the next was a necessary step, but she was determined to navigate this new environment carefully, staying true to her plans and avoiding unnecessary interactions with the main characters of ‘Twisted Wonderland.’
———————————————————————————
Recess: Third Year Building—Night Raven College
As the heavy doors of the second-year auditorium closed behind them, the silence of the empty hallway enveloped Vivian and Teddy. The chatter of the second-year students faded into the background, leaving only the quiet echoes of their footsteps. The polished marble floors gleamed under the soft light filtering in through the tall windows, casting long shadows that danced along the walls.
Vivian’s mind was already racing with thoughts of the upcoming third-year orientation. She knew this would be her most challenging encounter yet. The third-years were not only the most experienced but also the most influential students at Night Raven College. They held power, both socially and magically, that the other students could only aspire to.
As they walked, Teddy floated alongside her, his small form hovering just above shoulder height. His golden eyes were sharp, taking in every detail of their surroundings, always on the lookout for any potential threats or unwelcome surprises. But for the moment, the hallway was quiet, almost serene—a stark contrast to the tension that awaited them.
Vivian, Teddy's voice was soft, yet filled with concern. Are you ready for this? The third-years... they'll be different. They’re going to be questioning your motives here.
Vivian nodded slightly, her expression calm and composed, though her mind was a whirlwind of calculations and possibilities. I know, Teddy. They’re sharper, more perceptive. But we’ve prepared for this. We need to stay focused on the bigger picture—besides, this will be a good opportunity to establish the persona we want them to believe.
Teddy's wings fluttered gently, a sign of his unease. You know they’ll be watching you even more closely, especially after the second-years. Your every move, every word... it’s going to be scrutinized.
Vivian’s eyes narrowed slightly, her voice dropping to a murmur. I’m aware. That’s why we have to be careful. No unnecessary interactions, no drawing more attention than necessary. We need to blend in, stay under the radar as much as possible.
Teddy sighed softly, his small form dipping slightly in the air. I wish it didn’t have to be like this. I wish you could just be yourself, without all this... hiding and pressure.
Vivian’s gaze softened, a rare flicker of vulnerability crossing her features. I know, Teddy. But until we get those archives…this is the only way. We have to play the game and play it well.
Teddy nodded in understanding, though his heart ached for her. He knew how much she longed for her old life, how much she missed the simplicity and freedom of it. But here, in this world, she was the Crown Princess—a title that came with expectations and burdens she could never fully escape. That’s why he was willing to do whatever it took to help her. She wasn’t only his master but his family, and knowing their souls were connected as the Scepter’s gift to its master, he could easily follow her through time and space.
As they neared the doors to the third-year auditorium, the sounds of muffled conversations reached their ears. Vivian took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. Teddy floated closer, his presence a comforting weight at her side.
Remember, Vivian, Teddy whispered, his voice filled with quiet determination. You’re not alone. I’m with you every step of the way.
Vivian nodded, a small, grateful smile tugging at the corners of her lips. I know, Teddy. And I’m glad for that.
Before reaching the doors, Vivian paused, her hand resting on the smooth, cool surface of the wood. She turned to Teddy, her voice quiet but resolute. Whatever happens in there, we stick to the plan. No unnecessary interactions, no revealing more than we have to.
Teddy hovered closer, his tiny form glowing faintly in the dim light. Understood. We’ve got this, Vivian. Just remember, you’re the Crown Princess. They may not know it yet, but you’re more than capable of handling whatever they throw at you.
A small smile tugged at the corners of Vivian’s lips, and she nodded. Thanks, Teddy. I just hope we can keep things under control. We’ve come too far to let anything slip now.
With a final breath to steady herself, Vivian pushed open the door, stepping into the next challenge that awaited them.
———————————————————————————
Third Year Orientation: Third Year Auditorium—Night Raven College
The third-year auditorium buzzed with the subdued but palpable energy of seasoned students who had long since mastered the art of containing their excitement and curiosity. For these third-years, this was their final year studying on campus, the year where their learning would take them beyond the school’s walls, venturing into internships and apprenticeships that would define their futures. The room was filled with an unspoken understanding—this year was crucial.
As the final seconds ticked down before Professor Crewel was set to begin, the heavy wooden door creaked open, drawing every eye in the room. Vivian stepped inside, her presence as commanding as ever, though her demeanor remained carefully composed. Beside her, Teddy, floated with an almost ethereal grace. The room fell silent, the sound of her footsteps echoing through the auditorium as she made her way down the aisle to an open seat.
The third-years were not as easily swayed as the younger students, but even they couldn’t hide their reactions. Leona Kingscholar, ever the picture of nonchalance, flicked his gaze up lazily from where he reclined in his seat. His golden eyes narrowed slightly, more in recognition than in interest. So, the Crown Princess finally decides to make her debut, he mused, his thoughts laced with a blend of mild curiosity and apathy. Let’s see if she’s as impressive as they say.
Vil Schoenheit, sitting with Rook Hunt beside him, watched her with a discerning eye. His posture was flawless, his gaze sharp. He had seen countless beauties, but there was something about Vivian—perhaps it was her air of quiet authority, or maybe it was those unmistakable blue diamond eyes that marked her as an Alcantara. Perfection in form… but does she possess the same within? Vil pondered, his thoughts drifting between admiration and the high standards he set for himself and others.
Rook Hunt, ever the hunter of beauty, leaned forward slightly, his eyes sparkling with intrigue. “C’est magnifique,” he whispered to Vil, his voice low and appreciative. “She carries herself with the grace of a queen, but there’s a mystery in her eyes… a story untold. Don’t you agree, Roi du Poison?” He chuckled softly, already captivated by the enigmatic princess.
Idia Shroud, usually content to remain in the shadows, couldn’t help but be drawn to the spectacle. His glowing hair dimmed slightly as he tried to avoid drawing attention to himself, though his golden eyes were locked on Vivian. “Great… another person to avoid,” he muttered under his breath, his anxiety spiking. “And she’s in my dorm too… this is going to be a nightmare.” Ortho, perched on Idia’s shoulder, chirped excitedly, sensing his brother’s unease but also fascinated by Vivian. “She’s amazing, big brother! She’s one of the greatest minds, I’ve never seen anyone like her!”
Cater Diamond, seated next to Trey Clover, pulled out his phone, attempting to take a few pictures of Vivian as she walked past. “The Crown Princess herself… Gotta get this on Magicam,” he said, already crafting the perfect post in his mind. “She’s totally gonna trend!” His thoughts were light, but there was a deeper curiosity as well—what was she really like beyond the title and the fame?
Trey Clover watched Vivian with a more measured gaze, his thoughts calm but contemplative. She’s got a lot on her shoulders, he mused, thinking of the responsibility that came with her title. I wonder if she ever gets tired of it all… or if she’s just like the rumors suggest. His thoughts drifted to the pressures they all faced as third-years, but hers seemed on another level entirely.
Malleus Draconia, sitting with Lilia Vanrouge, observed Vivian with a deep, quiet intensity. His emerald eyes glinted with something akin to recognition, but it was more than that—an acknowledgment of her presence as something significant. “The Crown Princess,” he said, the title resonating with him. “A title that carries weight, just like mine. But there’s more to her than just that… something ancient, something powerful.”
Lilia, always the observer, smiled faintly. She’s more than just the Crown Princess, he thought, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. There’s a depth to her, something beyond titles and power. The way she carries herself… it’s as if she’s lived through more than anyone here could comprehend. How intriguing… I wonder what secrets she holds, what burdens she carries. Lilia’s thoughts drifted to his own long life, full of experiences and mysteries. Perhaps, in her, I’ll find a kindred spirit—someone who understands the weight of centuries and the importance of choosing one’s battles wisely.
Vivian, aware of the eyes on her but careful to keep her own gaze forward, felt the weight of their scrutiny. Teddy, sensing her slight discomfort, brushed his wings against her arm in a comforting gesture. We’re almost there, she murmured to him, her voice barely audible. The presence of her familiar, an alicorn—a creature of legend and the only one in Twisted Wonderland—was another reason for the stares. Familiars were generally forbidden at Night Raven College, but Teddy’s presence was non-negotiable, and his role was more than just companionship—he was her protector, her confidant, and, as Professor Crewel would soon explain, a necessity for her security.
She finally reached an empty seat near the front, her posture as poised as ever as she sat down. Teddy hovered by her side, his sharp, intelligent eyes scanning the room, ever watchful.
Professor Crewel, standing at the front, allowed the silence to stretch just long enough for the tension to build before he began. “Welcome back, third-years,” he started, his voice crisp and commanding. “This year marks the final stage of your formal education at Night Raven College—the year after, you will take what you’ve learned here and apply it beyond these walls. I expect nothing less than your utmost effort and excellence.”
His eyes flicked to Vivian, and the room’s attention followed. “And this year, we have a new addition to our ranks,” Crewel continued, his tone shifting slightly as he introduced her. “Allow me to formally introduce Vivian de Alcantara. Though she joins us as a first-year in status, her classes will be among you, the second and third years, reflecting her advanced skills and knowledge. I expect you all to treat her with the respect her position demands.”
There was a subtle shift in the room, the acknowledgment of her presence now more official, more concrete. Crewel’s next words, however, added an edge to the atmosphere. “Furthermore, her familiar, Theodore, is an exception to the rule, granted permission by the highest authority for security purposes. As such, no one is to approach or interfere with him or his duties. And let it be known that the area where Ms. de Alcantara conducts her research is strictly off-limits to all students.”
The third-years exchanged glances, the implications of her presence settling in. It wasn’t just about her title; it was about the rules that were being bent—no, broken—for her. And that made her not just a student but a figure of significance, someone who could change the dynamics of the school.
Vivian sat still, her face a mask of composure, but inside, her thoughts raced. Blending in is going to be harder than I thought, she mused, feeling the pressure of the expectations laid upon her. She hadn’t wanted this—this attention, this disruption—but she knew it was unavoidable. I just need to stay focused, stay on track. This is all for the end goal…
Teddy, hovering protectively by her side, seemed to sense her resolve. He nuzzled her arm gently, his way of reminding her that she wasn’t alone in this. She gave the faintest of nods, acknowledging his support, her blue diamond eyes briefly softening before they steeled once more.
The orientation continued, but the focus had shifted. The third-years, seasoned as they were, couldn’t help but wonder what Vivian’s presence would mean for their final year on campus before they embarked on their respective paths. And Vivian, in turn, silently vowed to keep her head down and navigate this world with the same precision that had made her a legend and a genius in the first place. essary interactions, no drawing more attention than necessary. We need to blend in, stay under the radar as much as possible.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 3 | Prologue 5
Prologue 4
Morning: Ignihyde Dorm—Night Raven College
The first rays of sunlight filtered through the high-tech blinds in Vivian’s room, casting a soft, golden glow on the sleek, modern furnishings. She stirred in her bed, her mind already alert and racing with thoughts of the day ahead. Today marked her first official day as a student at Night Raven College. It would undoubtedly be filled with challenges, scrutiny, and the unveiling of her true identity.
With a quiet sigh, Vivian sat up and glanced at the small clock on her bedside table—5:45 a.m. She had woken earlier than necessary, the nervous anticipation of the day gnawing at her. She could feel it in the pit of her stomach, a subtle yet persistent unease. Today, her carefully constructed anonymity would crumble, and she would be thrust into the spotlight whether she wanted it or not.
Teddy, ever vigilant, materialized beside her, his wings fluttering softly. "Good morning, Vivian," he greeted, his voice a comforting presence in the stillness of the room. "Ready to face the world?"
"Ready as I'll ever be," she replied, her tone laced with a mix of determination and trepidation. She had prepared for this moment, but that didn't make it any easier. The weight of her responsibilities felt particularly heavy today, and the uncertainty of how her presence would be received only heightened her anxiety.
Determined to avoid any unnecessary interactions, Vivian decided to conjure breakfast in the privacy of her room. With a flick of her wrist, a delicate spread of food appeared on the small table near the window—fresh fruit, warm pastries, and a pot of steaming tea. The aroma of freshly brewed tea filled the room, helping to soothe her nerves, if only slightly. To her right, a plate of blueberry scones, infused with enchanted fruits, and a glass of enchanted milk were set beside Teddy.
As he devoured his meal happily, Vivian ate in silence, her gaze drifted toward the large window that overlooked the dormitory grounds. From her vantage point, she could just make out the shimmering surface of the mirror that connected Ignihyde to the rest of the school. The mirror’s reflective surface seemed to ripple with an otherworldly energy, hinting at the magical barrier that separated her dorm from the rest of the campus. Though she couldn’t see the school grounds beyond—something she found oddly comforting—her thoughts drifted to the storm that was sure to follow once she stepped through.
At least for now, she had a moment of peace. The calm before the inevitable chaos.
After finishing her meal, Vivian pushed the table aside and headed to the bathroom. The routine tasks of brushing her teeth and fixing her hair helped to ground her, giving her something tangible to focus on amidst the whirlpool of thoughts in her mind. Teddy, ever diligent, floated beside her, mimicking her actions as he adjusted his collar, the Alcantara emblem gleaming in the morning light.
“Looking sharp, as always,” she remarked with a faint smile as she caught his reflection in the mirror. His presence was a comfort, a reminder that she wasn’t entirely alone in this strange new world.
“You’re one to talk,” Teddy replied, his tone light as he admired his own reflection. “Ready for your debut?”
Vivian’s smile faded as she took a final look at herself in the mirror, her perfectly tailored uniform fitting her like a glove. The white shirt and blue knit vest bore her family’s emblem, a symbol of her royal lineage that was impossible to ignore. The blazer, necktie, and dorm armband completed the ensemble, giving her the appearance of a student like any other—except, of course, for the mini skirt and her blue Mary Jane shoes, which added a subtle touch of feminine elegance to the otherwise standard uniform. And her hidden behind her uniform was the item that added weight to her title—Hercules’s Scepter, in the form of a necklace.
She tugged at the hem of her blazer, straightening it out as she tried to push aside the anxiety threatening to overwhelm her. “It’s for the plan.” she told herself, though the words felt hollow. This was far from just another day. It was the beginning of something much larger, something that could shape the course of her time in Twisted Wonderland.
Teddy sensed her unease and floated closer, offering a reassuring smile. “You’ll do great, Vivian. Just remember why you’re here.”
“Right,” she whispered, taking one last deep breath before turning away from the mirror. She couldn’t afford to falter now, not when so much was at stake.
Vivian stepped out of her room, with Teddy by her side, and into the long, dimly lit corridors of Ignihyde. The halls were eerily silent, the only sounds being the faint hum of machinery and the soft echoes of her footsteps. The futuristic design of the dorm, with its glowing blue lights and advanced technology, only added to the sense of otherworldliness that had come to define her new life.
Vivian kept her gaze forward, her expression calm and composed, as she made her way toward the mirror that would lead them to Main Street. The new students were abuzz with excitement, their voices echoing through the corridors as they hurried to their respective classes. Fortunately, in the midst of their excitement, her presence went largely unnoticed. Only a few upperclassmen took note of her, their curious glances following her as she passed by. But she ignored them, focusing instead on the task at hand.
This was it—the moment she had been preparing for. The first step into a new chapter of her life, where every action would be scrutinized, every word carefully weighed. She couldn’t afford to make any mistakes.
With her resolve strengthened, Vivian and Teddy reached the mirror that would take them to the school’s Main Street. She hesitated for a brief moment, her reflection staring back at her with an intensity that belied the calm she was trying to project. She took a moment to steady herself, her heart quickening as she prepared to step through.
“It’s now or never,” Teddy said softly, sensing her hesitation.
Vivian nodded, steeling herself. “Let’s do this.”
And with that, she stepped through the mirror, ready to face whatever awaited her on the other side.
———————————————————————————-
Morning: Main Street—Night Raven College
Vivian and Teddy made their way down Main Street, where first-year students bustled with excitement on their first day at Night Raven College. Vivian’s uniform was a vision of elegance: a neatly fitted blazer and coordinating necktie complemented her ensemble, while the skirt, in standard Night Raven colors, flowed gracefully. White socks and stylish Mary Janes completed her look, presenting a picture of polished refinement.
Her sapphire-blue eyes, a hallmark of the Alcantara main bloodline, sparkled with calm poise as she navigated through the crowd. Teddy fluttered beside her, his presence adding to the subtle grandeur that seemed to naturally surround her. Despite her efforts to blend in, occasional curious glances and hushed whispers followed them. Vivian kept her focus forward, determined to avoid unnecessary interactions.
As they approached the building housing Classroom 1-B, Vivian’s awareness heightened. She felt the lingering eyes of a few upperclassmen, their expressions a mixture of surprise and intrigue. Their curiosity was palpable, and though Vivian tried to ignore them, she could sense their gaze tracking her movements as she entered the hallway leading to her classroom.
Stopping just outside the classroom door, Vivian took a deep breath, steadying her nerves. Teddy hovered closer, sensing her unease. He landed gently on her shoulder and nudged her reassuringly.
Vivian, Teddy said softly in her mind, I know this is a lot to take in, but remember, this is just the beginning. You’ve faced bigger challenges before, and you’ve always come out on top. Just stay calm and composed. They’re just curious.
Vivian met Teddy’s gaze, taking comfort in his familiar presence. I know, but it’s overwhelming, she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. I didn’t expect the attention to be this intense.
Teddy tilted his head slightly, his expression full of empathy. It’s natural to feel that way. But you’re not alone in this. I’m right here with you, and you have the strength and grace to handle whatever comes your way. Just focus on the task at hand. We’ll get through today, and things will settle down soon enough.
Vivian nodded, feeling a surge of confidence from Teddy’s words. She took another deep breath, her resolve strengthening. You’re right. Let’s get this over with.
With Teddy’s encouragement bolstering her spirits, Vivian pushed open the door to Classroom 1-B and stepped inside. The atmosphere shifted immediately as students’ conversations halted, and all eyes turned toward her. The room fell into a hush, punctuated only by the soft murmur of whispers and the occasional gasp. Acutely aware of the eyes fixed on her, Vivian made her way to the back of the room, choosing a seat furthest from the two of the main characters—Epel and Jack. Teddy perched comfortably on her shoulder.
Her homeroom teacher, Professor Trein, entered soon after, commanding immediate attention. Tall and imposing, with a stern expression that could silence a room, Trein began his introduction with a voice that carried both authority and a hint of exasperation. His gaze briefly paused on Vivian before he launched into the day’s agenda.
“Good morning, class,” Trein’s voice resonated with clear authority. “I am Professor Trein, your homeroom teacher. Today is orientation day—we will be covering the schedule and the essential rules you are expected to follow as students of this institute.”
Vivian, trying to focus on Trein’s words, felt the weight of the students’ stares. She had hoped to avoid drawing attention, but her presence alone stirred curiosity and admiration. The whispers grew louder as Trein’s eyes flicked back to her.
“We have a very special student joining us this year,” Trein continued. “This is Miss Vivian de Alcantara, a member of the Alcantara Royal Family. She is the first female student to be called by the Dark Mirror and will be joining us here at Night Raven College.”
A ripple of surprise swept through the room. The murmurs of awe became a quiet buzz.
“Is that really her?” a student whispered, eyes wide. “I’ve heard so much about her, but seeing her in person… I think I’m gonna faint.”
“She’s the Crown Princess, right?” another student asked, barely able to contain their excitement. “And the creator of Nightingale Innovations! I’ve read about her achievements, but seeing her here is surreal.”
“She’s stunning,” someone else remarked, captivated. “Her beauty is just… unmatched. I’ve never seen anyone like her. It’s like she’s from another world.”
Epel, seated at the front, turned his attention to Vivian with a mix of curiosity and disbelief. He admired her poised demeanor and the air of mystery surrounding her, though he couldn’t shake the shock from the revelation. The Crown Princess… is here!?
Jack, seated a few rows away, observed Vivian with a more measured expression. She certainly draws attention, he noted, his gaze following her movements. It’ll be interesting to see how she fits in with the rest of us.
Trein continued, “Due to her extensive qualifications and achievements, Miss de Alcantara will be exempt from most first-year classes and will primarily participate in second- and third-year courses. She will join this class only for Homeroom and Physical Education. Additionally, she has been granted permission to conduct her research on school grounds. Her research facility is off-limits to other students. Despite the general rule against familiars on campus, her familiar has been granted special permission due to security concerns.”
The students’ reactions remained a mix of awe and disbelief. Many were taken aback, their murmured discussions a backdrop to Vivian’s growing unease. This kind of attention was something she had avoided her whole life—now, facing it head-on, her anxiety grew. Her exterior remained composed, though her heart raced as all attention focused on her. Teddy, sensing her discomfort, nuzzled her shoulder gently. I told you it would be like this, he whispered. Just remember, it’s all part of the plan. We’ll get through this.
Vivian took a deep breath, her anxiety momentarily eased by Teddy’s reassurance. She maintained a composed persona, though internally, she felt a wave of frustration. She knew that handling this attention with grace was crucial to maintaining her cover and achieving her goals.
As Trein wrapped up his announcement and began discussing the day’s schedule, the classroom settled into a quieter hum of conversation. Vivian tried to focus on the details, though the weight of the students’ stares lingered heavily on her. Teddy remained vigilant, his presence a constant source of support.
Despite her efforts to stay focused, the whispers and glances were a constant reminder of her unusual position. Vivian resolved to endure the scrutiny with dignity, hoping that the buzz around her would eventually fade.

Pre-Orientation: First Year Building—Night Raven College
As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the homeroom session, the students began to shuffle out of the classroom, their chatter filling the air with a mix of excitement and anticipation. Vivian, with Teddy fluttering beside her, gathered her belongings with practiced efficiency. The day ahead loomed large in her mind, and she couldn’t shake the sense of unease that clung to her.
The hallway outside was a bustling hub of activity, with first-year students eager to move on to the next event of the day. As Vivian stepped into the corridor, her presence immediately drew attention, even before anyone noticed the royal crest on her vest. Her diamond-blue eyes, sparkling like precious gems, were impossible to ignore—the unmistakable mark of the Alcantara lineage, a family whose power and legacy were known throughout Twisted Wonderland.
Whispers began to ripple through the crowd as students caught sight of her. Vivian’s beauty was ethereal, almost otherworldly—flawless porcelain skin, delicate features, and an air of quiet confidence that seemed to draw everyone’s gaze. It was as if time slowed whenever she passed, and students couldn’t help but stop and stare.
“Is that…? No way, it can’t be her,” one student muttered, his eyes widening as he tried to reconcile the rumors with the reality in front of him.
“She’s even more beautiful than the legends say,” another added, unable to tear his eyes away from her.
Vivian kept her gaze straight ahead, avoiding direct eye contact as she navigated through the crowd with practiced ease. Despite her efforts to remain unnoticed, the aura of grace and power she exuded made her the center of attention wherever she went. The occasional curious glance or hushed whisper followed her every step, but she remained composed, focusing on the path ahead.
As they approached the main hallway leading to the auditorium, where the orientation would be held, Teddy hovered closer to her, his presence a comforting anchor amid the sea of curious onlookers.
You’re handling this well, Teddy murmured reassuringly, sensing the tension beneath Vivian’s calm exterior. Remember, this is for the facade we want them to believe. Just breathe and keep moving forward.
Vivian gave a slight nod, grateful for Teddy’s presence. She had grown used to closing herself off from the world out of fear of altering the story, so this kind of attention was new. The weight of her family’s legacy was a heavy burden, and today it felt particularly daunting.
As they walked, Vivian couldn’t help but notice the lingering looks from a few upperclassmen. Their expressions were a mix of curiosity, surprise, and something else—perhaps recognition of the Alcantara bloodline. She could almost hear the unspoken questions in their minds. Who is this girl with the diamond-blue eyes? What does her presence mean for the school?
Once they reached the auditorium, the air inside was already thick with anticipation. The large room was nearly full, the seats occupied by rows of eager first-year students. Hoping to avoid further attention, they walked toward the back seats. Yet, even in the shadows, her presence was impossible to ignore. A few students glanced over their shoulders, their eyes widening as they caught sight of her.
———————————————————————————
First Year Orientation: First Year Auditorium—Night Raven College
The murmurs in the auditorium reached a crescendo as the students waited for the orientation to begin. Vivian stood near the back, her presence commanding attention despite her efforts to remain inconspicuous. Her diamond-blue eyes shimmered under the soft lighting of the hall, their brilliance catching the gaze of even the most distracted students. Her ethereal beauty, amplified by her poised demeanor, made it impossible for others not to stare.
As she settled in with Teddy, they chose a spot near a cluster of Ignihyde students, hoping to blend in with the quieter crowd. Yet, whispers began to ripple through the auditorium, with students from 1-B eagerly spreading news of her identity. The more they whispered, the more heads turned, eyes widening in realization and awe.
Amidst the sea of curious faces, three particular students couldn't help but take notice.
Ace Trappola, who had been slouching in his seat with an air of casual indifference, suddenly straightened up. His eyes widened as he caught sight of Vivian. Wait, is that really her? The Crown Princess? Man, I’ve heard rumors, but seeing her in person... She's way out of anyone’s league. And those eyes... There’s no mistaking who she is. Guess I’d better not mess with her. She’s probably got some crazy magic too, Ace thought, his usual carefree attitude momentarily replaced by caution.
Deuce Spade felt his heart race as he spotted Vivian across the room. Determined to focus on his studies and self-improvement, he found himself momentarily off balance. Is she really the crown princess? I didn’t think someone like her would be here... She’s not just royalty; she’s legendary. And those eyes... They say the Alcantara family is descended from Zeus. Does that mean she has powers like that? No wonder everyone’s so fixated on her. I need to stay focused, but... wow, Deuce thought, his determination to stay on track clashing with his curiosity about Vivian.
Sebek Zigvolt couldn't hide his shock when he noticed the stir around Vivian. As someone who prided himself on loyalty and discipline, he rarely paid attention to idle gossip, but the realization of her identity struck him. So, this is the Crown Princess? Her aura is unmistakable—noble and powerful. It’s not just her status; she truly carries herself like someone of great importance. The way everyone’s reacting shows she’s not just any student. But I must remain focused on serving Lord Malleus... Still, seeing her in person is something else, Sebek mused, his admiration for his own master momentarily intersecting with an appreciation for Vivian’s presence.
The murmuring and glances peaked just as Divus Crewel stepped onto the stage. His presence immediately commanded attention, silencing the crowd with a single sweeping gaze. Dressed impeccably, with his stark black-and-white attire reminiscent of a certain iconic fashion figure from Vivian’s past life, Crewel exuded authority.
"Good morning, pups," he began, his voice carrying effortlessly through the hall. "Welcome to Night Raven College. I am Professor Divus Crewel, your instructor for various magical disciplines, and I expect nothing less than excellence from each of you." His eyes scanned the crowd, sharp and discerning, until they landed on Vivian.
"However," Crewel continued, his tone shifting subtly as he addressed the elephant in the room, "I would like to introduce a special student among us today. Some of you may already know, but allow me to officially present her." The room fell into a hushed silence, all eyes now focused on Vivian.
"This is Vivian de Alcantara, the first female student chosen by the Dark Mirror to attend Night Raven College. Her status as a first-year is merely a formality, as her studies will be conducted primarily with the second and third-year students, given her extensive qualifications." Crewel’s gaze was unwavering as he spoke, the weight of his words pressing down on the room. "Furthermore, due to her unique circumstances, she has been permitted to have her familiar, Theodore, accompany her at all times. Her research is of utmost importance, and the area where she conducts it is strictly off-limits to all other students."
The whispers began anew, this time more intense, as the students processed the information. For many, it was their first time seeing the crown princess in person, and the reality of her presence was almost overwhelming. Vivian, feeling the intensity of the stares, kept her expression composed, though the attention was far from welcome. Teddy, sensing her discomfort, perched on her shoulder, offering silent support as she weathered the storm of curiosity and awe surrounding her.
As the orientation proceeded, Vivian did her best to focus on Crewel’s words, though the knowledge that she had become the center of attention weighed heavily on her. She could feel the eyes of her peers on her, a mix of admiration, curiosity, and perhaps even envy. Despite the unease, she remained resolute, determined to navigate this new chapter with grace and strength.
———————————————————————————
Lunch: Private Lab—Night Raven College
After the orientation concluded, the bustling atmosphere of the auditorium faded as Vivian and Teddy teleported to their private lab—a haven of advanced technology and magical innovation nestled in a secluded part of the school grounds. The lab was off-limits to all other students and faculty, a privilege granted to Vivian due to her status and the critical nature of her research.
The room was spacious, filled with advanced technology and magical instruments that reflected both Vivian's intellect and her unique abilities. Holographic screens floated above sleek workstations, displaying various projects in progress. Shelves lined the walls, holding rare ingredients, arcane tomes, and tools designed for research that pushed the boundaries of both science and magic. The soft hum of magical energy filled the air, creating a soothing ambiance that instantly put Vivian at ease.
Crystalline lighting fixtures bathed the room in a calming blue hue, providing a sense of tranquility that helped ease the tension Vivian had felt throughout the day. She took a deep breath, feeling the familiar hum of the lab’s energy seep into her, grounding her in the present. This was her sanctuary—a place where she could be herself without the expectations and scrutiny that came with her title.
Teddy hovered beside her, his mechanical wings fluttering softly as he observed her with concern. “You handled that well, Vivian,” he said, his voice carrying a note of reassurance. “But I could tell it wasn’t easy.”
Vivian walked over to the table, gently settling down, before leaning against the edge. She closed her eyes for a moment, allowing the familiar surroundings to calm her nerves. “It’s the first time I’ve truly felt the weight of my family name,” she admitted, her voice steady but tinged with the weight of the morning’s events. “I didn’t expect it to be this intense.”
"Their reactions were natural,” Teddy floated closer, his eyes fixed on her with a mixture of empathy and determination. “You’re the Crown Princess of Twisted Wonderland and a genius inventor—of course, people are going to be curious. They’ve heard stories about you for years. Seeing you in person must have been like witnessing a legend come to life."
Vivian didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she moved to a large window overlooking the private garden within the facility, filled with rare herbs and enchanted plants. The view was peaceful, a stark contrast to the bustling hallways and classrooms she had just left behind. "I just wish I could go on without being noticed. I came here to find clues and support my brother’s claim to the throne, not to be the center of attention."
The lab hummed softly around them, the sound of various machines and magical devices creating a soothing background noise. Vivian’s gaze drifted to a nearby monitor displaying the results of her latest findings—an ancient document she had discovered in the sacred halls of her family archives. This document was the key to a specific magical formula she had been searching for—Aetheric Magic. This lost magic could be crucial, and she needed to find where the Great Seven had hidden it. Reminded of her purpose, she sighed with a knowing smile. *I can do this.*
She walked over to the monitor, tapping a few keys to bring up the data. “The first orientation is done,” she said, her voice more resolved. “Now, I need to prepare for the second and third-year orientations. The upperclassmen will likely be even more curious, especially since they’ll know more about the Alcantara family and what I represent.”
Teddy nodded, his small figure hovering at her side like a steadfast companion. “True. The second-years will have heard about you, but the third-years might even know more about your family’s history. They’ll be watching you closely, especially with your unique status as a student who’s more than just a first-year.”
Vivian’s fingers danced across the keyboard, pulling up additional data on her upcoming schedule. “I need to make sure I don’t draw unnecessary attention. The best way to do that is to give them the image they expect. If I can keep to myself and focus on my research, I should be able to navigate this without too much trouble—but we also need to keep a close eye on Yuu.”
She paused, her thoughts momentarily drifting to the students she had already encountered. Their reactions had been a mix of awe, curiosity, and admiration, but there had also been a hint of something else—something she couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t fear, exactly, but it was clear her presence had unsettled some of them.
Vivian had seen this before—the way people’s expressions changed when they realized her power and what she represented. It was a subtle shift, but one she had learned to recognize. “I’ll have to be careful,” she murmured, more to herself than to Teddy. “The last thing I need is for anyone to see me as a threat.”
Teddy gave a small hum of agreement. “You’re already ahead of the game, Viv. Just keep your goals in sight and remember why you’re here. You’re not just a student; you’re the Crown Princess, the genius behind Nightingale Innovations, and the holder of Hercules’s Scepter. You’ve got a lot riding on your shoulders, but you’ve never let that stop you before.”
Vivian’s expression softened as she looked at Teddy, grateful for his unwavering support. “Thank you, Teddy. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
Teddy puffed out his chest slightly, his wings fluttering with a hint of pride. “I’m just doing my job. Now, let’s get you ready for the next orientation. We’ve got this.”
With renewed determination, Vivian turned her attention back to the monitors, reviewing the information she needed for her upcoming classes. The advanced technology of the lab responded to her touch, displaying schedules and even a detailed map of the school grounds. Everything was meticulously organized, just as she liked it.
As they worked together, the tension from the morning began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of purpose. Vivian glanced at a small, custom-made device on her desk—a tool she had personally designed to detect anomalies in magical energy. She had programmed it to alert her to any unusual occurrences in the school, another layer of security in her quest for answers. There’s so much at stake, she thought. But I won’t let anything stand in my way.
The lab’s soft blue light bathed them in its glow as they continued their preparations, ready to face whatever challenges the day would bring. And as Vivian reviewed her plans for the upcoming orientations, she knew that no matter what happened, she would face it with the same grace and strength that had brought her this far.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 2 | Prologue 4
Prologue 3
Present: Ignihyde Dorm—Night Raven College
As the hall emptied, Vivian made her way to her assigned dorm with quiet resolve, blending into the group of new Ignihyde students. They instinctively kept their distance from one another, perhaps sensing the low profile she sought to maintain. The reclusive dorm head, Idia Shroud, managed their arrival remotely, his voice crackling through a tablet held by a student volunteer.
“Um, so yeah... listen up,” Idia’s voice came through, tinged with its usual awkwardness despite his attempts at authority. “I’ll guide you to your rooms and, uh, give you a quick rundown of the dorm’s layout. Just follow the instructions and, you know, keep questions to a minimum, alright?”
Vivian moved in sync with the others, her eyes fixed ahead, deliberately avoiding contact. The walk to Ignihyde was heavy with unspoken tension, the distant hum of machinery and the occasional flicker of neon lights contributing to the dorm’s eerie, almost alien atmosphere. The faint, ever-present vibration in the walls made her feel as though the very structure was alive, watching, waiting. The futuristic environment only deepened her sense of dislocation, as though she were caught between two worlds—one she knew too well and another just beyond her grasp.
As they approached the dorm, Ignihyde’s architecture loomed before them—a dark, foreboding structure with a distinct underworld aesthetic, perfectly reflecting its inspiration from Hades. Yet, despite its ominous appearance, the blend of technology was immaculate. Every inch of the dorm was infused with advanced machinery and cutting-edge designs, giving it an eerie sophistication. The walls seemed to pulse with a life of their own, and the air held a faint charge, as if the very atmosphere was brimming with hidden power.
Idia’s voice continued to drone from the tablet. “Each of you will find your room pre-equipped with, um, everything you need. Take note of the emergency procedures posted inside. If, uh, anything’s off, you can... contact me directly. Though, I’d rather you didn’t.” With the general dorm tour done, the students separated to their rooms.
Upon entering her room, Vivian immediately locked the door behind her, wasting no time in securing her privacy. She quickly cast a sound barrier, ensuring no one outside could overhear her conversations. Next, she layered a protection barrier and a magic-concealing barrier over the room, shielding herself from any outside interference and masking the use of high-concentration magic. These spells were second nature to her now, a necessity in a world where her every move could be under inspection. A sense of ease lingered as she worked, the breath she didn’t know she’d been holding released as her shoulders relaxed.
The room itself was a testament to Ignihyde’s technological prowess. Sleek furnishings and an array of advanced gadgets were neatly arranged, the design both functional and stylish. Ambient lighting adjusted automatically to her presence, casting a soft glow that complemented the cool, clean scent of modern materials. The faint hum of the climate control system added to the sense of comfort and efficiency. The room's luxury and security allowed Vivian and Teddy to relax, knowing this was one of the few places in the school where they could let their guard down.
Teddy, her loyal alicorn familiar, materialized beside her with a gentle flutter of his white wings. His presence was a comfort, grounding her in the midst of her swirling thoughts. Teddy immediately began inspecting the room with his usual curiosity, his eyes bright with both wonder and caution. “Quite a change from the more traditional setting of the palace,” he noted, his voice tinged with both awe and skepticism. “They even have all the devices from Nightingale. They must be a fan of yours.”
Vivian allowed herself a small smile, grateful for Teddy’s steadfast support. He was the only one who knew her true identity and motives, though even he didn’t know the full extent of her past life. “We’ll have to be cautious, Teddy. This place may be impressive, but we can’t afford to let our guard down—especially outside these walls. Our true objective is to stay under the radar while we figure out our next steps.”
As she began unpacking her belongings, the weight of her responsibilities settled on her shoulders. Every action, every word had to be carefully calculated. One wrong move, and the delicate balance she was trying to maintain could collapse. The nagging feeling that her presence here was already causing ripples wouldn’t leave her. This was her second life, a chance to understand why she had been reborn, but it came with a price—the burden of the knowledge of the future, one that could not be revealed.
Teddy, now settled on the plush, modern couch, kept his keen eyes on the room. “I’ll keep watch by your side,” he said, his tone protective. “If anything seems off, you’ll be the first to know.”
Vivian nodded, appreciating his vigilance. Yet, despite the advanced security measures, there was an unsettling sense that something was still out of place, as if the very walls held secrets she wasn’t privy to. She pushed the thought aside, focusing instead on the task at hand. For now, maintaining her cover was paramount.
———————————————————————————
Present: Ramshackle—Night Raven College
Meanwhile, across the campus, the evening’s calm was disrupted by a scene unfolding in the distance. Yuu and Grim were being escorted by Crowley to their new residence—Ramshackle Dorm. Unlike its previous state of decay, Ramshackle had been transformed into a modern, functional residence. However, Yuu noticed its resemblance to Mickey Mouse’s house in the classic cartoon ‘House of Mouse’ from his world.
The path to Ramshackle was well-lit, with fresh paint and clean surroundings that reflected the recent renovations. The dorm’s exterior had been updated to a sleek, contemporary design, its polished finish gleaming under the streetlights. The scent of new materials and fresh paint lingered in the air, adding to the impression of a sophisticated transformation. The stark contrast to its previous state was unsettling, making Yuu question the true nature of these renovations.
Crowley led the way with a strained smile, his attempts at cheerfulness barely masking his unease. “Welcome to Ramshackle Dorm! I trust you’ll find it quite comfortable. The renovations were completed just in time for your arrival.”
Yuu and Grim followed, their eyes widening as they took in the impressive transformation. Yuu’s gaze swept over the modern features and well-maintained appearance of the dorm, his confusion deepening as he compared this version of Ramshackle with the dilapidated one from the game.
“This place looks... different from what I expected,” Yuu murmured, his voice tinged with both wonder and skepticism. The dissonance between the game’s version of Ramshackle and the reality before him was difficult to ignore, making him question the implications of these changes on his journey.
Grim, peering around with wide eyes, seemed equally taken aback. “This doesn’t look like a dump at all! I thought we were going to be living in some old, falling-apart shack.”
Crowley chuckled nervously, his attempt at reassurance falling flat. “Ah, yes. The renovations were quite extensive. We wanted to make sure it was up to standard, though I’m sure it was a bit of a surprise.”
As Yuu entered his room, he was greeted by a modern, well-furnished space. The room featured sleek, contemporary furniture and a range of amenities designed for convenience. The soft glow of the room’s lighting and the faint hum of the climate control system added to the sense of comfort and efficiency. Yuu’s thoughts churned as he tried to reconcile this new, polished Ramshackle with the dilapidated version from his memories. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off—like an unseen presence was watching, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal itself.
Grim, still in disbelief, hopped onto a chair and looked around with a mix of relief and skepticism. “Well, I guess this isn’t too bad after all. It’s actually kind of nice.”
Yuu nodded, though his mind was still grappling with the differences between this version of Ramshackle and the one from the game. The modern amenities and stylish design were a pleasant surprise, but the lingering sense of familiarity with the game’s narrative made him question the implications of these changes on his journey. He couldn’t shake the feeling that the renovations weren’t just about aesthetics, but part of something larger, something unseen. Eagerly, Yuu went to check the room the protagonist in the game used—only to be relieved as he caught sight of a specific mirror that would be crucial in his journey.
The mirror was exactly where it should be, a reassuring constant in the midst of unsettling changes. Yuu approached it slowly, half-expecting it to be different, yet when his reflection stared back at him, it was the same as always. He reached out, his fingers brushing the cool surface, and for a moment, he felt a connection—a thread tying him to the world he knew, even if only by a single fragile strand.
As the night deepened, the stars obscured by the glowing campus lights, a sense of unease settled over both Vivian and Yuu. Each in their separate worlds, they grappled with the mysteries of Twisted Wonderland—Vivian with the burden of her secret and Yuu with the unsettling discrepancies between his memories and the reality before him. Both resolved to adapt quickly, their paths unknowingly intertwined, as they faced the challenges and secrets this strange world held.
For Vivian, the weight of her past and the future she was desperately trying to avoid pressed heavily on her. She knew the risks of being in Twisted Wonderland, the danger of getting too close to the characters she once knew only as fictional beings. Yet, the need to protect her brother and find a way back to her original world kept her focused, determined to maintain her cover no matter the cost.
Yuu, on the other hand, was driven by a growing sense of curiosity and caution. The discrepancies between the game and reality were subtle, yet significant enough to unsettle him. He felt as if he were being tested, as if the world itself was watching his every move. The mirror, a symbol of his connection to the game's narrative, reassured him that he was still on the right path—though what lay ahead remained shrouded in uncertainty.
As they both lay down to rest in their respective dorms, the world around them remained vigilant, its secrets hidden just beneath the surface. The journey was only beginning, and the challenges they would face in the days to come would test their resolve and force them to confront the true nature of Twisted Wonderland.
But for now, they could only prepare, each in their own way, for the unknown trials that awaited them.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prologue 1 | Prologue 3
Prologue 2
Present: Mirror Chambers—Night Raven College
Crowley, sensing the growing unease in the room, flailed in his attempts to regain control. “Well, now that this little misunderstanding has been cleared up, let’s turn our attention to the more pressing matters at hand.”
Riddle’s stern expression remained unchanged as he dismissed the red collars binding Grim. The small creature slumped to the ground, exhausted but free. Yuu knelt beside him, offering a comforting hand. Grim glared up at him, his pride wounded, but he accepted the gesture with a reluctant nod.
“Listen,” Yuu whispered, his voice low and concerned despite his earlier irritation. “You need to be more careful. This place isn’t like back home… wherever that is.”
Grim huffed, turning his head away. Yet, the fear in his eyes was clear to Yuu. The tension between them was palpable, a mixture of frustration and understanding. Despite their rocky start, Yuu couldn’t bring himself to abandon the strange creature now attached to him.
Oblivious to their exchange, Crowley continued with his grand gestures, his voice full of forced cheerfulness. “Now, where were we? Ah, yes! We have an unexpected guest from another world. Quite a curious situation indeed!”
Vivian watched Crowley’s theatrical performance with increasing frustration. His attempts to downplay the chaos only underscored his lack of preparation. She and Teddy exchanged a look of shared exasperation. They had hoped to keep a low profile that night, with Vivian’s special case set to be revealed during the class orientation the next day. However, Crowley’s incompetence was proving to be a challenge.
Vivian’s gaze shifted to Yuu, who was struggling with Grim’s predicament. A pang of empathy mixed with anxiety hit her. Yuu’s arrival had introduced an element of unpredictability into her carefully laid plans. Would he be a crucial ally or an unforeseen complication? Her thoughts raced through various scenarios, each more troubling than the last. Her mind was a whirlwind of strategic calculations and growing concern, despite her composed exterior.
Leona, leaning casually against the wall, broke the silence with a dismissive air. “So, what’s the plan for him, Crowley? You can’t just let him run wild.”
Crowley waved a dismissive hand, his voice faltering slightly. “No need to worry, Mr. Kingscholar! I’m sure we can figure something out… somehow. It’s just a bit unexpected.”
“You mean you have no idea what to do with him,” Azul interjected smoothly, his sharp gaze scrutinizing Grim. “And if I may suggest, Headmaster, it would be prudent to keep a closer eye on our new… guest. We wouldn’t want any further incidents.”
Crowley’s face reddened with a mix of embarrassment and frustration. He forced a strained smile. “Yes, of course. As luck would have it, Ramshackle Dorm, which has recently been renovated, is available for use. Quite fortuitous, wouldn’t you agree?”
Crowley suggested the very place Vivian had him prepare, which had been renovated specifically for Yuu. However, Crowley’s timing was questionable, as it was meant to be a surprise for the future protagonist.
Riddle’s eyebrows arched in surprise. “I wasn’t informed that Ramshackle Dorm had been renovated. How did this come about?”
Vil stepped closer, his expression skeptical. “Yes, this renovation wasn’t mentioned to us. Seems rather convenient.”
Crowley’s smile wavered. “Ah, well, a recent update to accommodate our… unexpected guest. Fortuitous timing, I assure you.”
Vivian and Teddy exchanged a disbelieving glance. Crowley’s evasive responses only fueled their frustration. Vivian’s mind raced, torn between maintaining a low profile and addressing the urgent issues at hand. Teddy’s irritation was evident, his tail flicking with agitation. They both recognized that Crowley’s mishandling of the situation was complicating their efforts and jeopardizing their plans.
The other dorm heads exchanged skeptical glances. “I see,” Riddle said slowly, his tone laced with suspicion. “Well, if you say so.”
Fortunately for Crowley, the dorm heads did not pursue the issue further, but the tension left Vivian and Teddy on high alert.
Leona yawned and pushed himself off the wall. “Seems like we’re done here. Let’s head out.”
Crowley glanced around, his eyes narrowing as he searched for Malleus Draconia. “And where is Mr. Draconia?”
“Did everyone forget to invite him again?” Kalim asked, his concern evident as he looked at the other dorm heads.
As the name was mentioned, murmurs of concern spread among the students. “The Malleus Draconia??” Many students fearfully whispered at the realization.
Vil shook his head, his frustration clear. “If you’re so concerned, why didn’t you handle the invitation yourself?”
Kalim laughed sheepishly. “I didn’t think…”
“Ah, just as I expected.” A new voice cut through the chatter, drawing everyone’s attention.
“You have my sincere apologies. I assure you this oversight was not intentional,” Azul said, addressing the new arrival.
“No matter. I shall escort the students of Diasomnia. I hope this doesn’t upset him,” Lilia said, his calm demeanor helping to soothe the restless students.
With a nod, the dorm heads began to lead their respective students out of the hall, each group following their leader. Malleus Draconia, having been deliberately excluded from the event due to Crowley’s earlier oversight, was not present. Instead, Lilia Vanrouge stepped forward to assist the new students.
Crowley turned to Yuu and Grim, his tone forcedly cheerful. “Now, let me show you to Ramshackle Dorm. It’s been prepared just in time for our… unique situation.”
Vivian’s gaze lingered on Yuu as the hall gradually emptied. She could feel the weight of the momentous change his presence had brought. The uncertainty of her situation pressed heavily on her. Her plans and goals were now intricately linked with Yuu’s arrival. The road ahead was fraught with uncertainty, but one thing was clear: Yuu Nakamura’s arrival could alter everything. Whatever came next, she needed to be ready.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Prelude | Prologue 2
Prologue 1
Present: Mirror Chambers—Night Raven College
Just as the dorm heads began leading the new students out of the hall, the grand doors creaked open once more, drawing everyone’s attention, including Vivian’s. She paused, her gaze shifting back to the entrance as Headmaster Dire Crowley made his entrance with his usual theatrical flair. But it wasn’t Crowley who held her attention—it was the peculiar duo following him.
The first was a tall, dark-haired boy with wide, bewildered eyes, who looked utterly overwhelmed by the grandeur of the hall. Although dressed like everyone else, his expression was that of someone who had stumbled into a world to which he didn’t belong. Despite the confusion in his gaze, there was a spark of recognition, as if he were trying to piece together the puzzle of his new reality.
Beside him was a small, blue-gray creature with large, expressive eyes and an attitude far fiercer than its size suggested. The creature was speaking rapidly, its voice a high-pitched stream of complaints. Though Vivian couldn’t make out the words from where she stood, the creature’s indignation was clear.
So the main story is about to start, Vivian thought, a sense of dread creeping up her spine. The chaotic events she had anticipated were now in motion, and there was no turning back. The scent of old wood and polished stone filled her senses, grounding her momentarily in the reality of this world—a reality she still struggled to fully accept, even after 15 years.
What’s this? Teddy muttered, subtly peeking out from beneath Vivian’s cloak, just enough to not be noticed. His tone was a mixture of curiosity and wariness. They don’t look like they belong here.
They don’t. This is what Vivian wanted to answer but chose instead to quietly observe the scene. The boy—whom Crowley called ‘Yuu’—looked completely out of place, and yet there was something about him that intrigued her, something oddly familiar. He seemed ordinary, and yet… oddly comforting. And the creature, Grim, as Crowley named it, was unlike any magical being she had encountered in her studies. Given their status as the protagonist of the game, she wasn’t surprised.
What do you think? Teddy asked, sensing Vivian’s intense focus.
I think, Vivian replied softly, things just got more complicated. A subtle sigh escaped her lips as she anticipated the incident about to unfold. The heat from the nearby torches seemed to intensify, making the air feel heavy with anticipation.
As she watched Crowley converse with Yuu, a sense of familiarity gnawed at her. It’s like I’ve met him before, she mused, but the feeling only deepened her unease. Could that be him? No, that can’t be… But given my own circumstances, it’s not impossible. Doubt and uncertainty raced through her mind, blurring the lines between past and present. Was this just her mind playing tricks on her? Or was she grasping at straws, trying to make sense of something that shouldn’t be real?
Her heart pounded as memories of her past life as Sora flooded back. The name triggered something deep within her, a connection she couldn’t quite grasp. But what if it was all in her head? What if she was losing her grip on the delicate balance she had tried so hard to maintain?
The Dark Mirror loomed ominously as Yuu approached, his steps hesitant but resolute.
“State thy name,” the mirror intoned, its voice echoing through the hall.
“Yuu Nakamura,” the boy replied, his voice steady despite the situation.
Vivian’s breath caught in her throat. No way. Her mind raced, the familiarity of the name gnawing at the edges of her sanity. Am I still sane? Or is this world distorting my memories? The more she thought about it, the more the lines between her past life and present reality blurred. Could this Yuu be the same Yuu she once knew? Or was it just a cruel twist of fate, designed to test her resolve?
The mirror’s proclamation echoed in the silent hall: “This one is… devoid of magic.”
Gasps rippled through the crowd, and Crowley’s expression shifted from theatrical to genuinely perplexed. “What?! Devoid of magic? How can this be? In a world brimming with magic, to find someone with none at all… it’s simply unheard of!”
Vivian watched Crowley’s exaggerated reaction with a mix of amusement and concern. The Headmaster was as dramatic as ever, but beneath his flamboyance, there was genuine frustration. She could see it in the way his brows furrowed and his hands gestured wildly. Even he didn’t see this coming, she thought, her unease deepening.
Before she could dwell on her thoughts, Grim’s voice cut through the tension. “Then give me his place! You want magic?” The little creature puffed up, its tiny chest swelling with indignation. “I’ll show you magic!”
The next moment, Grim’s eyes gleamed with mischief, and before anyone could stop him, a burst of flames erupted from his mouth, scorching the nearest tapestry. The fire spread rapidly, licking at the ancient stone walls and filling the hall with smoke. The heat intensified, and the smell of burning fabric stung Vivian’s nose.
Vivian stifled a groan. Just as I remembered. The chaotic scene played out exactly as it had in the original story, but now, seeing it firsthand, it felt even more surreal. The hall erupted in panic as students scrambled to douse the flames, their magic flying wildly in every direction.
“Unbelievable,” came a low growl from Leona Kingscholar, the dorm head of Savanaclaw. His sharp eyes glinted with irritation as he watched the chaos unfold. “Can’t even go a minute without something catching fire.”
Vivian couldn’t help but agree with Leona’s sentiment. His frustration mirrored her own growing sense of exasperation. This is just the beginning of the madness, she thought.
Riddle Rosehearts of Heartslabyul was next to speak, his voice dripping with disdain. “Such reckless behavior! This is exactly why there are rules! Rules that must be followed!”
And there it is, Vivian mused, noting Riddle’s obsession with rules. She sympathized with his past, knowing it wasn’t entirely his fault. She could almost predict his next move—enforcing order with an iron fist. It was a familiar pattern, one she had seen before.
Vil Schoenheit of Pomefiore sighed, his elegant fingers pinching the bridge of his nose. “Must everything be so dramatic? Honestly, where is the grace in all this?”
Vivian found herself silently agreeing with Vil. Where is the grace? she thought, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. But in this world, grace was often overshadowed by chaos.
Azul Ashengrotto of Octavinelle chuckled, a hint of amusement in his voice. “Well, well, it seems we have quite the troublemaker on our hands. How intriguing…”
Always looking for an opportunity, Vivian thought, eyeing Azul carefully. He’s probably already scheming how to use this to his advantage.
Kalim Al-Asim of Scarabia simply laughed, his usual carefree demeanor unfazed by the flames. “Hey, that little guy’s got spirit! I like it!”
Kalim’s carefree nature is both a blessing and a curse, Vivian reflected. His lightheartedness was refreshing, but in moments like these, it made her uneasy. He doesn’t see the danger lurking beneath the surface.
Idia Shroud of Ignihyde, the dorm she had just been sorted into, was uncharacteristically silent, though the faint glow from his tablet indicated he was likely recording the entire incident for later analysis.
Vivian stood still, her gaze locked on Yuu as he frantically tried to calm Grim down, only for the little creature to stubbornly fan the flames with more fiery outbursts. The boy’s efforts were earnest, but the situation was quickly spiraling out of control.
I saw this coming, Teddy, she told her familiar, her tone resigned yet determined. But I didn’t expect it to hit this hard.
Teddy peeked out again, his tiny eyes wide with concern as he watched the chaos unfold. Should we step in? It’s getting out of hand.
Vivian hesitated, her mind racing. The scene before her was intense—students struggling to control Grim’s relentless flames, panic visible on their faces. On one hand, intervening could prevent further damage and protect Yuu from the dorm heads' ire. On the other, her vow to stay in the background until absolutely necessary weighed heavily on her decision.
No, she said finally, her voice steady despite her pounding heart. Not yet. He needs to face this on his own. If we step in now, it could alter everything. We can’t afford to reveal too much too soon.
Teddy’s frown deepened, but he didn’t argue. His concern was clear, but he understood the necessity of their careful approach.
As the fire raged, students attempted to contain it with magic, their efforts proving insufficient against Grim’s fierce flames. The hall was engulfed in turmoil until Riddle Rosehearts took control.
“Enough of this!” Riddle commanded, his voice slicing through the chaos. With a decisive flick of his wand, a surge of red magic swept across the hall, extinguishing the flames with a forceful burst. The room fell into an uneasy silence, the acrid scent of smoke and charred fabric lingering in the air.
Before anyone could react, Riddle turned his intense gaze toward Grim. “You’ve caused enough trouble for one day,” he declared coldly, raising his magic pen again. “Off with your head!”
A ring of red collars materialized around Grim, clamping tightly around his neck. Grim let out a yelp of surprise and indignation as the magic took hold, forcing him to the ground, immobilized. His fiery bravado vanished, replaced by a pitiful whimper.
Yuu’s eyes widened in alarm, rushing to Grim’s side, but there was little he could do against Riddle’s unique magic. He hesitated, a mix of irritation and sympathy swirling within him. Grim was a hot-headed creature, and Yuu couldn’t help but feel some frustration at the situation Grim had dragged them into. Yet, seeing Grim subdued and helpless tugged at his heartstrings.
He glanced at Grim, remembering how stubborn and reckless he could be, yet he couldn’t shake the empathy that welled up inside him. Grim might have been a handful, but he didn’t deserve this.
Crowley, who had been about to offer some form of reassurance, hesitated, his earlier dramatics forgotten. “Well… I suppose that settles that,” he murmured, trying to regain some semblance of control. “No more flames, and no more… disruptions.”
But the atmosphere remained heavy, the gravity of Riddle’s actions casting a shadow over the room.
“Crowley,” Leona interrupted, his voice a low growl, breaking the tension. “You’d better have a good explanation for why this kid was wandering around unsupervised in the first place.”
Crowley’s smile faltered slightly, but he quickly recovered, waving a hand dismissively. “Ah, well, you see, this young man is a rather… special case. He seems to have arrived here from another world entirely. Quite the predicament, wouldn’t you agree?”
The dorm heads exchanged skeptical glances, their curiosity piqued. Vivian’s heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t how the story went. Had her existence in this world already altered the plot?
Crowley’s gaze flicked to Yuu, who was still standing protectively beside Grim, the conflict evident in his eyes. “But that still doesn’t explain why you couldn’t control your familiar,” Crowley admonished, his tone a mix of frustration and bewilderment.
Yuu’s eyes flashed with irritation. He’d had enough of this nonsense. “I’ve been telling you all evening—Grim isn’t mine! He just started following me around,” Yuu snapped, his voice edged with the frustration that had been building up since his arrival.
Crowley blinked, taken aback by Yuu’s bluntness. “Oh… Well, that certainly complicates things,” he muttered, clearly flustered.
The dorm heads looked at each other, some with skepticism, others with mild curiosity. Vil Schoenheit’s smooth voice cut through the awkward silence. “If he’s not your familiar, then why do you care so much?”
Yuu hesitated, his irritation warring with the sympathy he felt for Grim. “He might be a handful, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to just stand by and let this happen to him,” Yuu replied, his voice steady now, even as he struggled to make sense of his own feelings.
The Dark Mirror had acknowledged Yuu as a student, much like it had with others. Yet, his presence remained an anomaly—his route back to his world remained unclear, as the mirror offered no solutions.
“We will, of course, need to make special arrangements for our guest,” Crowley continued grandly. “But fear not, I will personally ensure he is properly accommodated.”
“I’m more concerned about the danger he poses,” Vil interjected smoothly, though his caution was evident. “Bringing someone with no magical abilities into our world… it’s a liability, Headmaster. He could disrupt the balance.”
It’s too late for that, Vivian thought bitterly, the irony of the situation not lost on her.
Azul Ashengrotto nodded in agreement, his calculating gaze sharp. Indeed. We must handle this delicately. We wouldn’t want any… unfortunate accidents.
Vivian listened to their concerns, her own anxieties mirroring theirs, though for different reasons. She needed to understand more about Yuu’s situation, how he arrived, and whether his presence was connected to her past life. But caution was paramount. Acting impulsively could have dire consequences.
For now, all she could do was watch, wait, and plan her next move. The road ahead was uncertain, but one thing was clear: Yuu Nakamura’s arrival had shifted everything. And whatever came next, she needed to be ready.

Between Worlds: The Princess of Twisted Realms
Reborn into the world of Twisted Wonderland Vivian must navigate this world to uncover the secrets of her birth, while maintaining her new role in this life. Will she find her way back to her old world, or will Twisted Wonderland reshape her destiny?
Prologue 1
Prelude
Present: Mirror Chambers—Night Raven College
Vivian stood amidst the grandeur of Night Raven College’s great hall, the ancient stone walls draped in shadows cast by flickering chandeliers. The air buzzed with anticipation as students waited to be sorted into their dorms, but her thoughts were far removed from the present. She was caught between two worlds, two identities, and the heavy weight of her choices.
As she approached the Dark Mirror, memories of her final training session flooded her mind—a time when her future seemed inevitable yet uncertain. She had chosen this path, but now, faced with the unknown, doubt crept into her heart. Was this truly the first step toward finding her way back to Sora, the life she longed to return to? Or was she stepping deeper into a role that threatened to consume her?
The Dark Mirror loomed before her, its surface unnervingly smooth, reflecting only shadows and flickers of light. Vivian hesitated, pulling the hood of her cloak tighter around her face, as if shielding herself from the truth it might reveal. Her thoughts drifted to her family in Twisted Wonderland—her brother Arkin, the Crown Prince; her parents, the Emperor and Empress; and the expectations that came with being Crown Princess. Expectations she had long avoided. Yet beneath those thoughts lay memories of Sora’s life, a simpler existence filled with warmth and love, a life she feared she might never reclaim.
With a deep breath, she leaned in close and whispered her name to the Dark Mirror, “Vivian de Alcantara.” Her voice, though soft, echoed ominously in the hall. For a brief moment, she feared the Mirror would expose her identity or that the students around her would notice her whisper. But instead, it responded with a booming proclamation: “Ignihyde!”
Relief washed over her, quickly followed by a wave of apprehension as she stepped back. She could feel the eyes of the other students on her—curious, speculative, yet unaware of the true identity hidden beneath her hood. For now, she preferred it that way.
As she moved to join the students sorted into Ignihyde, a cold chill ran down her spine—a feeling as though someone was watching her more intently than the rest. She dismissed it, focusing instead on the familiar weight of her cloak and the comforting presence of Teddy, her Alicorn familiar, who fluttered discreetly within the folds of her cloak.
You sure you’re okay with this? Teddy’s voice softly rang in her head. This place gives me the creeps, and not in a good way.
Vivian’s lips curved into a faint smile. She gently brushed her fingers against Teddy’s soft mane. I’ll be fine, Teddy. We’ve faced worse before.
Yeah, but this time feels different, Teddy persisted, his usually playful tone tinged with concern. It’s like we’re walking into a nest of vipers that don’t even know what they’re dealing with.
Before Vivian could respond, a shadow fell over them. She looked up to see Jack Howl, a tall, muscular student from Savanaclaw, approaching. His amber eyes were sharp, like a predator sizing up its prey, and his presence commanded attention, even in the bustling crowd. Other students seemed to instinctively step aside as he passed, a subtle acknowledgment of his dominance.
Jack stopped in front of her, his gaze lingering on her hooded figure. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice quiet but edged with something unspoken, a sharpness that made Vivian pause. This wasn’t a casual inquiry; there was an intensity in his eyes, as if he sensed something off about her.
“I’m fine,” Vivian replied, keeping her voice calm and controlled, masking her feminine tone with a neutral one. She kept her face hidden, knowing that revealing too much too soon could lead to unwanted complications. Tomorrow, when the entire student body would see her face and uniform, would bring its own set of challenges.
Jack’s gaze didn’t waver, but he nodded slowly. “If you need anything, just let me know.”
“Thanks,” she said, offering a slight nod in return. As Jack moved away, Vivian felt a mixture of relief and caution. Jack Howl was someone to watch—whether as an ally or an obstacle was yet to be determined.
As the ceremony continued, Vivian’s thoughts drifted back to her last day in Elysium, where she had spent countless hours training, honing her skills. The memory was vivid, as if it had happened just moments ago.
———————————————————————————
Flashback: The Training Grounds of Elysium
The sky over Elysium was painted in shades of gold and amber as the sun set, casting a warm, almost ethereal light across the sprawling training grounds. Vivian stood at the edge of the field, her heart pounding in her chest as she faced her older brother, Arkin. He was the epitome of strength and grace, his sword gleaming in the dying light, a testament to his skill and power.
“Ready, Viv?” Arkin called out, his voice carrying a confident warmth that belied the seriousness of their session.
Vivian nodded, tightening her grip on her sword—a weapon crafted from ancient steel and iron, imbued with powerful runes that glowed softly in her hands. The air around her seemed to hum with magic, a force she had mastered but rarely unleashed to its full potential. Not even now, in front of Arkin.
The training began with the clash of weapons and the sizzle of magic in the air. Vivian moved with precision and agility, every strike calculated, every spell controlled. But no matter how hard she pushed herself, she held back, a silent choice she made to protect her brother, to let him believe he was the stronger one.
Arkin’s voice cut through the air, urging her on. “Don’t hold back, Viv. You’re stronger than this.”
But Vivian knew the truth—she was stronger than Arkin could ever imagine, stronger than she wanted him to know. If she unleashed her full power, it would change everything, disrupt the delicate balance of their family’s expectations. “I am giving my all, Arkin,” she said, convincing him as she had done their whole lives, unaware of the doubt running through his mind.
As their battle intensified, Arkin’s movements became more forceful, more determined, as if he sensed her hesitation. Finally, with a swift and practiced move, he disarmed her, sending her sword flying across the field. Vivian dropped to her knees, gasping for breath, acting as though her body ached from the exertion, but her mind was far from defeated.
Arkin knelt beside her, his expression softening into one of brotherly concern. “You did well, Viv. Better than last time.”
Vivian looked up at him, returning his smile with her own. “Well, you are a tough competitor.”
Arkin’s gaze softened even further as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Well, hopefully, the day comes when you fight me with Hercules’s Scepter.”
His words were light-hearted and meant to comfort, but they couldn’t dispel the lingering doubt in her heart. Was he suspecting her? Or was it his way of saying she could be stronger than him? Although her face remained calm, her mind swirled with anticipation. She needed to be more careful. She reminded herself that her plan would fall apart if she wasn't careful.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the field, Vivian made a silent vow. She would continue to fight, to train, to seek a way back to the life she lost—and, most importantly, to ensure her current family’s happiness. But for now, she would play the role she wanted everyone to believe, keeping her true strength hidden, even from those closest to her.
———————————————————————————
Present Day: The Dorm Sorting Ceremony
The memory faded, leaving Vivian with a renewed sense of determination as she returned to the present. The cold stone floor of the great hall grounded her, the murmurs of the other students now distant and insignificant. She remained still, allowing the crowd to disperse as they made their way to their respective dorms.
Teddy, she directed her thoughts to him, we need to stay focused. There’s too much at stake for us to lose sight of our goal.
Teddy, usually brimming with playful energy, nodded solemnly. I know, Viv. But don’t overdo it, alright?
Don’t worry, I won’t, Vivian’s voice lightened as she reassured him. She pulled her cloak tighter around her, shielding herself from the inquisitive gazes of the students as she moved toward the group of newly assigned Ignihyde students.
As she settled into the crowd, her thoughts turned to the day ahead—a day she both dreaded and anticipated. Tomorrow, when she would no longer be able to hide behind her cloak, when her full identity would be exposed to the entire student body, bringing with it a flood of attention she neither wanted nor needed, but hoped she could use to her advantage.
This wasn’t her world, and these were the people she had avoided in this life. But for now, they were a necessary part of her journey, a journey she was determined to see through to the end.
