Today (Tuesday) is my birthday, so today is the most light me up Tuesday I can feel and thus deserves a reblog.

I'm sorry but I feel like I've been on this site long enough to know every facet of hell that expands the entirety of Tumblr; but in all seriousness, what the fuck?! I've lost count of how many election cycles its been (they all tend to blur together at this point as an American) but what in the ever loving fuck is this 🤨😬🙄🫣😮‍💨.
"He asks 10 years later"
Pour me another martini 😶
I know this is a longshot but I feel like Tumblr is the best place to ask- does anyone have the official Joe Biden Spore file? I have not been able to find it on the old Sporepedia links that I found.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about I know what you’re thinking- “Joe Biden Spore model? OFFICIAL Joe Biden Spore creature model?”
Tumblr media
Yes, OFFICIAL Joe Biden 2008 election voting awareness ad campaign Spore model.
Please, I need it for obvious reasons.

I’m really curious who sent that anonymous ask the other week. Speak aberration, reveal yourself.

PillowFort
Despite still logging into Tumblr everyday and checking up on what’s new, I’ve lost pretty much all motivation to keep posting here after everything @staff has and hasn’t done over the last year. Between the NSFW ban and the mobile app fucking up the format of every new post I make, its not worth the effort to deal with this fuckery.
I’ve settled on PillowFort as an alternative. It’s still in beta but I think it has the potential to be what Tumblr used to be for a lot of us. Currently you can sign up for a one time $5 registration fee, but if you ask nicely I might give you a free invite code once they release the invitation system near the end of the month. I’m looking forward to restarting the porn blog over there once they do.

Oh Tumblr.
I want to use you and post more. However, my laptop is out for repair and your mobile app is a disaster when it comes to posting. Nothing is formatted correctly when I post from my mobile.
@staff fix this shit.

So many configurations, so much money. Ugh. I’m tired of integrated graphics and not even managing 30fps on minimum settings.

Goodbye NYC Rent
With this last rent check I do declare myself free of my lease in NYC. That is to say that NYC isn’t still home. I just came to the realization that what I’m paying for each month in rent is the same as a week at any 5-star hotel in the city.
You may be asking yourself, well, what’s the difference. The trick here is that I only pay for when I’m actually in the city now. With rent and a lease, I have to pay regardless whether I’ve been working in Texas or where ever the last few months. Where as now, when I want to visit the city and have my own place I can stay at any of the wonderful hotel establishments throughout and not worry about the cost when I’m traveling for work.
Plus, that’s if I even go back to NYC when I’m off from work, which these days is every two or three months. I might be back home with my parents for the week, or up in Maine, or just crashing at a friends place where ever they may be. My bank account is going to be so happy now that I’ve cut 75% off of my monthly expenses.
So who’s going to let me crash on their couch? Maybe even the bed?

Few video games have stuck with me over the years as much as this series did. And I just found out there’s a remastered version available on Steam. I guess I know what I’ll be doing for the rest of the weekend.

Times Are Changing
I’ve been browsing through Zillow a lot these last few days trying to figure out where I might want to move and what I might want to move into. Since NYC is never going to happen, at least for another decade, I’m thinking maybe Portland up in Maine. It’s close to my family’s home up there, the airport has direct flights back to NYC for cheap should I want to visit, and I’ve always loved the vibe of the Old Port district.
That then begs the questions of what I’d move into. Do I get a house around the edge of the city proper, squeezed into suburbia where I can reach out my window and open the neighbors window? Do I go for the condo in the Old Port district so I’m within walking distance to everything? Or maybe I look further outside of the city so I have some acreage and some privacy between me and my neighbors. Ugh adulting.

Why do I even bother with it anymore. The most joy I get out of it is seeing if they can figure out an ad that’s relevant as I continue to flag every advert as not relevant so I don’t have to see the sad excuses that pass for marketing these days.

At last, I’ve finally finished it. I only started putting this together back in January. Let me know what you think. I always enjoy some constructive criticism.
Basically just a little blurb about how escaping out to Long Island from time to time is good for a mental health day and to have some fun with some friends. Most everyone I know smokes I also realized putting this together.

Finally getting back to this photo essay I’ve been trying to work on since February. I think I’m happy with this final selection, now to just arrange them in some sort of order.

Time to Weigh In
My first post on Tumblr was on February 2nd, 2010. It was a tumultuous time for me; I was a sophomore in college, discovering I liked the company of men, had my first alcoholic drink. You get the idea. While the frequency of my posts has barely registered at times, I was always here, most every single day I could, scrolling down my feed to see what everyone was up to. Tumblr was an integral part in my life and getting through it all.
Reading that @staff post by Jeff D’Onofrio the first time felt like a gut punch. As hard I’ve tried to keep up the hope that life on Tumblr wasn’t going to change much, I think it’s fair to say now that this is pretty much the end.
I won’t be able to do justice to what is being lost more than what anyone else has already written in posts or articles. In my own heart I know that I’ll be losing an important form of self expression that does not really fit in anywhere else besides here.
Of what I’ve read so far in mainstream news, I think John Paul Brammer put it best in his Washington Post article...
Ultimately, what I appreciated about Tumblr when I first started using it was that it introduced me to a new kind of person — one who read books, watched porn, liked memes, was a feminist and was super, super gay, all at once. This was a person for whom sex wasn’t bad or scary. It was just part of your personality, another interior terrain of likes and dislikes. You like “Adventure Time.” You like Harry Potter. And you like BDSM. Oh, and “The Great British Bake-Off.” They’re all just parts of you.
Tumblr and the people I met on here during those formative years in college, and even still today, played a large part in helping me come to terms with my sexuality and being able to openly express it. That critical part of adult content casually being thrown in-between literally anything else made it feel so commonplace and something that felt like it could be discussed openly on here without judgement. Sure we can still talk about it after the 17th, but sometimes you just need to see that one photo or gif scroll past your feed, randomly thrown in, that makes you think to yourself ‘damn I want my tongue on that persons body’. Having that positive feedback is important, especially for LGBTQ folks that are still struggling.
What really did me in though in thinking that something could be salvaged from all of this was reading the Vox article by Kaitlyn Tiffany. After reading that article I knew there was nothing left to be done except go down with the ship. Verizon is looking to turn a profit or cashout entirely and they’re willing to step on and push out whomever they need to. Problem is they won’t make any profit because of the archaic idea that “female-presenting nipples” is worse than any form violence and murder in every other type of media, so in the process they’ll loose the very user base they need. The line “There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content.” is so ignorant to the very nature of what Tumblr is, I’m dumbfounded that CEO Jeff has been with the company for five years.
Even within my own feed, hearing about all the blogs that were purged the last few weeks, peoples blogs that are being muted now, and how (possibly) that Tumblr is training their untrained image classifying bots through our own user complaints, this place needs to die. I was watching V for Vendetta tonight and was thinking about smashing all of Tumblr’s servers during the scene with Parliament blowing up. At the very least, Anonymous needs to come in and DDoS Tumblr on the 17th.
True to being a die hard fan however, I’ll be here all the way down. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go backup my porn blog and smutty likes.
