I’m aware that I have very basic taste in ships. But usually, the most obvious answer is the right answer. The fastest way to a destination is a straight line. And if two characters exhibit INSANE amounts of chemistry with eachother exponentially more often than they do with anyone else, they’re probably in love. Okay thank you and goodbye.

My greatest downfall is being a ship purist. But like im also not? Because I will allow either side of ship to be with whomever they want as long as they are also actively seeing the other half.

Ahem.

For example.

Character A and Character B are in a polyamorous relationship with several other Characters. This specific fic is centered around the dynamic between Character A and Character C. I read the whole thing. I love it.

Character A and Character B are in a committed relationship, but an open one, and this specific fic is about Character A and Character C’s side thing. Incredible, delicious, thank you.

Character A and Character B are not dating. They are BEST FRIENDS and are the center of the fic. They are not in committed relationships with anyone else. I love that.

Character A and Character B are best friends. They are not dating. They are the focus. Character A starts dating Character C in the background. Absolutely not I will not read that how dare you ask such a thing of me.

But the WORST SITUATION I am guilty of is this.

I am looking for a fic centered around Character D and Character E in a relationship, they are the main focus, and other characters are maybe mentioned twice. Somehow in those very short mentions, it is made clear that Character A and Character C are together, not Characters A and B. I will not read that fic. Do not ask it of me.

And this goes for most of my faves, unfortunately. This is why I say I’m a ship purist, not because I only accept one dynamic, but because if my two faves aren’t madly in love with eachother or no one else I will NOT read it.

And in response I present to you all a vaguely inspired by this BKDK AU where Bakugou and Deku are highschool students who never really knew eachother very well, like they recognized eachother from class and in hallways (and admittedly they both sorta had hallway crushes on the other), but they never stopped to get to know eachother.

They came from separate worlds, Katsuki’s friends were the class clown sorts, and Izuku was friends with all the smart kids. In fact, the only reason they even knew eachother was because Katsuki was in advanced classes with Izuku and all his friends.

Anyway, fate decided to give them a reason to talk in a weird unbelievable way that only fate can create, and that is by having their younger siblings be friends. Or at least their younger relatives. Katsuki’s little siblings Mahoro and Katsuma and Izuku’s little brother Kota and little cousin Eri had all become friends and a park outing had been set up that ALL THREE sets of adults involved had ended up unable to attend. The Bakugous had practically forced Katsuki to escort his siblings while Izuku had easily volunteered.

What was most shocking was the fact that the two boys absolutely hit it off. They somehow got onto the common topic of their favorite childhood superhero, and the rest is history. They end up becoming better friends than their siblings, then MORE, and they’re sappy and cute and in love and silly and I LOVE THEMMMMM!!!

Nightwing: Oh your sweet summer– I was a only child.

Red Hood: (Cackles)

Nightwing: It really isn't that weird to me.

Red Hood: Really?

Red Hood: What?!

Nightwing: Yeah!

Red Hood: You're fucking with me.

Red Hood: You're older than Arsenal?

Nightwing: I'm older than everybody man.

Nightwing: People look at me and assign me to take care of children.

Red Hood (imitating Damian voice): "Father genes"

Nightwing: HA– "father genes" (pause) Why are you looking at me like that?

Red Hood:

Red Hood: You're ancient.

Nightwing: IM NOT ANCIENT.

Red Hood: You're older than the Teen Titans, fucking older than Young Justice.

Nightwing: You're older than Young Justice

Red Hood: I was dead man it doesn't count.

Nightwing: Of course it does– How old are you?

Red Hood: How old are you?

Nightwing:

Nighwing: I– I am an adult.

Red Hood: Uh-huh.

Nightwing: In a reasonable age.

Red Hood: You're in your thirties aren't you?

Nightwing: NO

Nightwing:

Red Hood: You look like you're in your thirties– The bag under your eyes

Nightwing: Because I'm tired????

Red Hood: The hunched posture.

Nightwing: Hey I do not have hunched posture– Fuck you.

Nightwing: You try to take care of an entire team of teenagers just to end up taking care of more two and a grown ass depressed middle aged man.

Red Hood: That was Red–

Nightwing: That was Red. (pause) I would have fucking killed him.

Red Hood: Oh Definitely.

Nightwing: Point still stand man I'm tired.

Red Hood: Both of us.

Nightwing: Both of us– (chuckles) Robins if you're hearing this I love both of you and I would do it all over again. Titans– (closer to the mic) You know what you did.

Red Hood: (Cackles)

Red Hood (closer to his mic): You know your sins.

Nightwing (laughing): Flash owe me 30 dollars.

Dude I love haikyuu so much. That’s basically my catchphrase rn. I call my friend and open the conversation with “I love Haikyuu” and proceed to wax poetic about the intricacies of Kageyama and Hinata’s relationship. Or the parallels between Oikawa and Kageyama. Or how Haikyuu is such a perfectly written story because even though we will always want more we will never feel that we are left wanting.

Haikyuu had an incredible beginning, middle, and end. Every character and arc felt intentional and essential. And at the end of the manga there is not one character who I feel needed just that little bit more development. Sure would I have liked to see more timeskip? Absolutely. Would I KILL to see Hinata’s second and third years of highschool and the evolution of the Karasuno first year’s relationship, in a heartbeat. But I don’t feel like it was necessary.

That’s what makes Haikyuu so good, every moment felt necessary and it added to the plot. Even the dumb silly little moments where they’re just teenage boys being teenage boys. I fact that ADDS to it. So much of haikyuu’s story is about Hinata is learning and growing and improving, and it’s because he is meeting and loving and encouraging. Like how do I explain this? Hinata, to me, is a character who cares so much that it forces the people around him to care.

Especially his teammates. I’m sure there are arguments to be made for other characters, but Hinata is the HEART of Karasuno. He’s literally the one who gets their blood pumping. I MEAN COME ON IN THE NATIONALS NEKOMA V KARASUNO MATCH KENMA LITERALLY DESCRIBES THE TEAM AS A GROUP OF HINATAS WHEN THEYRE PUMPED UP. He is their energy. And in return they are his support. If Hinata is the heart then they are the rest of the body. I could give you an analogy for each one but I don’t have to because you can see it, once Hinata starts pumping up, everyone else falls into their role with ease.

He is such a perfect MC and I LOVE HIM. And I LOVE HAIKYUU. AND IM SO GLAD THAT IT DIDNT GO ON FOREVER OR END WITH HUNDREDS OF UNANSWERED QUESTIONS. The fate of a story is for it to end. And the purpose of a story is for it to teach. And the desire of a story is for it to create emotion. And Haikyuu did all of these things so well. I could go on and on, I’m sure as you’ve already noticed, but it’s just because I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

I genuinely recommend Haikyuu to anyone as a first anime, it’s entertaining, it’s reasonably concise, and it’s deeply moving. Haikyuu tells a good meaningful story with action and excitement and grief and despair all without ever causing any real harm. Haikyuu creates the feeling of a villain while also giving you the gift of another perspective on the court.

It is. Amazing. I love Haikyuu. If you made it this far, thank you and good night.

There are two possible versions of timeskip Kenma in my head. The widely accepted Private Stand-Offish Gamer Kenma who doesn’t share his personal life with his viewers at all, and the only reason his viewers know that he and Kuroo are dating is because Kuroo posts about it.

This is very cute, very sweet. Always makes for some cutie scenes where Kenma glances off screen and then shuts off his camera and mutes his mic so he can talk to Kuroo without a word. I like that, it’s sweet.

HOWEVER

I also LOVE the idea of Kenma telling his viewers EVERYTHING like he has a strict streaming schedule and on Sundays he plays cozy games. And it’s so chill it’s basically a just chatting stream. He kicks back in his chair, one knee up and plays consoles games rather than PC for simplicity’s sake. Usually he gravitates towards Animal Crossing and Stardew but he’s played other cozy games on stream before. Either way, it doesn’t matter, because while Kenma plays he talks with his chat about his day, his cats, his work, his friends, and most importantly his boyfriend.

And his fans EAT IT UP. They are always so eager to hear about Kuroo’s most recent antics and escapades, and Kenma is more than happy to share them. He talks about when Kuroo was being funny, embarrassing, cute, all of it, and the chat eats it up. At some point they start calling Kuroo “our boyfriend” which Kenma doesn’t really mind in the end, it’s not like any of these people really know Kuroo, and Kenma knows how much Kuroo loves him.

Sometimes, while he’s talking, Kuroo will duck into the room and it’s like a spark, Kenma’s face brightens just that little bit as Kuroo leans over to kiss him on the forehead, which Kenma leans into like a cat. When it’s been a good day, Kuroo will pull over his own chair and he and Kenma will wordlessly rework until Kuroo can play the game with him and they’ll talk to chat in tandem, Kuroo sharing stories about his day, and then about Kenma.

When it’s a bad day, Kuroo will reach his hand out to cover the camera and kiss Kenma on the lips. Tehcnically, they’re hiding it but Kenma’s mics not muted and the chat can hear the light smack when they pull apart. Kenma will then cover his mic, muffling his words and they’ll share a few soft words until one of two things happens, Kuroo waves goodbye to the chat wordlessly then leaves with a gentle squeeze of Kenma’s hand, or Kenma stands up and Kuroo takes his seat before Kenma resettles in his lap and lets his boyfriend nuzzle into his neck while he keeps playing and chatting for a while, no words exchanged, no explanation given.

Either way, Kuroo usually returns to his normal lively self quickly, either re-entering the room post-shower and snack to join the stream or slowly coming back online after some time just listening to his lover’s voice.

Sometimes, I read a fic and it is SO OOC but then I keep reading and I realize that I don’t care, as long as the characters entertain me, what does it matter if they act like they do in the source material, it doesn’t not matter to me, that’s for sure.

Who cares if this character isn’t as much of a flirt?

Who cares if that character isn’t that nice?

Who cares if that character doesn’t care that much?

Not me. Because these small changes in personality serve the narrative set forth by the author of this fic, and I will ENJOY IT.

(This does not apply to my old, bad, OOC fics, those are terrible and one day I will rewrite them.)

I think my favorite part of the Daisuga ship is that they are just already a very chill ship. Somehow feel like the most real highschool couple. And what I mean is that Daichi and Suga have chemistry, but it’s not explosive. They don’t have these huge passionate shouting matches that prove how much they care about eachother, or these sweet melancholic flashbacks that show how committed to eachother they are. They just have chemistry. Like they have lines that sound like confessions. But not new ones. Daichi and Suga talk to each other like they’ve been in a relationship for years. Like it’s second nature to say those things to eachother. I think that’s also why they feel so much like mom and dad. Cause yeah, they bicker, but it’s always fond, just like every other part of them. They’re just so smitten with eachother and so comfortable not only with eachother but with themselves that nothing about their relationship has to be explosive or poetic or anything to be deeply meaningful to the people that matter most, themselves.
