So normal people don't feel the urge to listen to the same part of a song over and over and over and over and over and over again to scratch that brain itch? Then how do they scratch that brain itch? Manually?

I love it when there is one random channel on Youtube that gets your niche-ish interests so well.
There is just this one guy who makes videos about London trains and it's great :D

I think I have gained some sort of family curse because whenever I am with my dad's side of the family they will say "you have a lot of [old surname in family] in you" and it seems like a compliment at first until you realise everyone who "has a lot of [surname]" is a mess...

Day 14 of Rating Pictures of Samuel Johnson
Today's image:

Dr. Johnson by Sir Joshua Reynolds, as attempted by Doctor Johnson: A Play by A. Edward Newton (1923, scanned 2022)
Something happened here. Where is the rest of Samuel Johnson? I have heard of bad PDF scans but this is upon another level. He looks like a floating orb. I am worried for his sake. This does not seem good. The rest of the book isn't that much corroded, just this.
2/10
Where's the rest of him

TMA HC: "Somewhere Else" for those who aren't JMJ
I would like to think that those who became avatars through death have a special place: og!Elias, Michael Shelley, Helen Richardson, heck even Oliver Banks, Jane Prentiss, Richard Mendelson, James Wright, Sasha James and all those turned into the not-them, the victims of Maxwell Rayner, and others I probably forgot. It's not quite a heaven, a hell, or even a purgatory but a place where they are sent after their deaths that acknowledges that their lives were cut short in an unfortunate and supernatural way. That their bodies are still out there but are no longer theirs. They didn't get a funeral. They didn't get a goodbye because seemingly they are still there.
And above all, I would like to think that it is pleasant, even if just out of pity from the universe. It would be sad, yes--Michael who realised that he had been kept in the dark by his coworkers this entire time knowing that things could've ended differently, Helen realising she wasn't crazy, Sasha knowing that there was so much left for her to do at the Institute and watching as her friends/coworkers don't recognise her, Oliver who just wanted a night of rest, og!Elias having many regrets over how he went through life without any real purpose--but it wouldn't be like a hell. It's more bitter than sweet but it isn't torture. It's not an eternal punishment or eternal life. It's just a special place where they mourn what could've been. A Somewhere Else just for them, for the victims of the Fears who died knowing that a horrible thing now wears their identity.

John, Jon, and Mr. Doe
I know way too many Johns. And Janes.
Characters are John Ward(FAItH), Jon Sims(tma), and John Doe(Forsaken).
I have hyperfixated on all of these men.

How to explain to people that while the hyperfixations pass I have a 16 month long daydream going on in my head that involves all of said hyperfixations and that my brain has decided must start dictating my life starting soon
... I mean, parts of it, thankfully not my full life since I do not need to be more of a shell-shocked wet cat than I already am.
... I do wish though that some of the funny people in my head were real, though :( (or I just need a hug) (thankfully this feeling is going away, slowly, but going away since I actually have friends irl :D and they are awesome :D, they just aren't british)

Samuel Johnson is likely not an Eye avatar. In TMA canon I guess that would be a good thing, being have spared the fate of becoming an archive of The Horrors or having his eyes scooped out and replaced (he was some decades years too early for that fate anyways since the aristocratic prick was a man of the Regency Era).
...but how does the digestive system of a dog work??? I may have to look that up later because now I am curious
Question: did Samuel Johnson have an above average pursuit for knowledge?
I want to know this for TMA avatar purposes (because ofc I managed to find another piece of media with a predominantly queer character lineup to fixate on)
Answer: Yes! And no. It's complicated?
Johnson absolutely knew a ton of things. He spent most of his time reading - when he was a child, he was very nearsighted, and struggled to walk, so he spent almost all of his younger years inside his family's bookstore, reading. In a time when not everyone had access to a wide variety of information, much the less a wide variety of books, this gave him a very above average range of knowledge. He read old classics, novels, scientific treatises, and basically just everything. So yes, that part is pointing to a yes.
This habit he continued through his life, and he was fortunate that his work as a hack-writer continuously supplied him for further reading. Once, he worked for a man who gave him the job of writing summaries of the books of an entire library: his job, for a few months, was just reading. And then, when he wrote the Dictionary, for a few years his preparation was just by borrowing book, reading them, and underlining quotes. And that's only from his work. Johnson read a lot.
What really capped this off was that, though Johnson had a ridiculously good memory. He possessed the ability to compose long stretched of text in his mind and transcribe them as was, to memorize 16-line poems and recite them back after hearing them only once - and, of course, to recall just about any information he picked up in his many hours of reading. There are anecdotes of him going off on tangents of blacksmithing, of leather-tanning, of butchery, and other various trades with such detail that, one man stated, it seemed as if he had practiced them his whole life - once, he even started talking about the digestive systems on dogs.
So - Johnson had a pretty above average pursuit of knowledge. Why do I say it's complicated? Well, it's because that's what I'd say - not what Johnson would have. Quite ironically, Samuel Johnson himself did not tend to think himself as some quixotic figure to pursue the world's secrets - in fact, he quite frequently mentioned that he never "read books through," and did not particularly study for anything "hard," the bulk of the time. And lastly, on one occasion, there was a time where he had been writing a book on Alexander Pope, a poet. Well, Johnson's friend, James Boswell, sneakily went behind his back and scheduled for him to meet a random old friend of Pope, and then presented it as a big surprise. Much to his shock, Johnson actually seemed annoyed, and expressed his feelings in a way that really answers your question:
"If it rained knowledge I'd hold out my hand, but I would not give myself the trouble to go in quest of it."

Yes,,, I was between listening to it or WTNV and I asked our friend and he said TMA since it knew a lot about TMA from you.
A side effect of that though was that I thought Jon was going to be an absolutely massive asshole instead of a wet cat and expected-amount asshole
