I'm KC and I love DC (Even if I hate Warner Bros). Fave ships are Harlivy and Superwire, fave shows are Young Justice and the Harley Quinn animated series, and my all-time favorite comic run is the New 52 Harley Quinn series (Don't judge me). This used to exclusively be just a Young Justice blog, but now I talk about all sorts of DC-related content. Stick around and SAVE EARTH 16!!!

very tired of the ‘Dick Grayson is mostly a pretty boy with bad puns, golden retriever vibes’ trope. Give me German Shepherd Dick. Give me the ‘consummate performer’ Dick. The one all, brilliance, bloody smiles and showmanship, the one with razor sharp wit and charm made weapon. Dick who seamlessly switches between a million personas. The one who doesn’t know what to do when the show’s over. Give me the Dick no one wants to be on the wrong side of because Nightwing might not start battles, but he finishes them. The only one whose threats the entire Batfam (including Bruce) takes seriously. The one fear toxins can’t affect because he’s been to hell and back.
The Dick who unlike Jason doesn’t even mention how much he’s been fucked up and survived. The one the Joker knew he couldn’t break.

It’s not a problem the first few times they meet, in the heat of battle, their only exchanges quickly barked commands and warnings. But the first few times they talk outside of combat? Oh, it’s an issue.
You see, Brucie Wayne is constricted to a rather limited vocabulary, but Batman gets to use his big boy words. And he does. Talks like he’s studying for the SAT at all times.
So when they start to talk, Superman unconsciously rises to meet his diction. He writes for a living, he knows fancy words too. It’s not showing off or anything, he’s just politely matching his conversation partner.
But to Batman? Oh, that’s a challenge. He’s Batman, he’s the smartest person in the room at all times - he has to be, otherwise what use is he on a team of gods? So he starts stretching his words out even longer. Upgrading from the SAT to the LSAT and MCAT and GRE.
And Superman, with his photographic memory and super-brain and professional-author-skills and, most importantly, Kent-raised politeness, steps up to join him.
By twenty minutes in, they sound like two thesauruses having a conversation. The only words under five syllables are prepositions and pronouns.
Lex Luthor is sitting tied up on the ground next to them mentally noting words down to look up later.

I bet the JL has a “how fucked are we” metric that’s literally just how many of Bruce’s kids are there.
Like if he pulls up to the alien invasion or whatever with just Robin, then everything’s fine. More than fine, actually, because Bruce feels comfortable enough to bring his eight year old along for the ride. This battle will take approximately fifteen minutes and they’ll all get shawarma after. Not fucked in the slightest.
But if Red Robin shows up too… hmm, okay, this is getting somewhat serious. Tim is one of Bruce’s most trusted partners; he’s the smart Robin, the tactician, the loyal one, and so if Batman brought him along then it means he’s at least a little bit worried about shit hitting the fan and wants one his advisors around. But the combined brain power of Bruce and Tim is pretty much unmatched (DC plot armor for the win), so everything will be fine, basically. Superman might take a hit, but everything’s going to be fine. Just keep calm and you’ll all make it home in time to Door Dash some Panda Express before it closes. So not that fucked.
It starts to get serious after that. When Signal and Spoiler roll up the scene, shit has definitely hit the fan. Batman’s worried enough to call in reinforcements and he’s probably doubting the League’s ability to listen/obey his orders, so he needs a backup plan in case things go really south. But with Signal’s abilities and Steph’s superpower of turning anything into a joke, chances are you’ll be okay. Maybe impaled or something, but okay. But still, fucked.
When Nightwing shows, the JL knows it’s starting to get dicey out on the field. See, Nightwing’s got his own team, his own issues—the fact that he set that all aside to help out his dad is cause for concern. On a scale from 1-10, they are at a 7. Above moderately fucked.
And… oh God. Black Bat? Most of the time the JL doesn’t even see her, but once she makes herself known and starts fighting alongside her siblings, they all start to silently freak out. Black Bat is a fucking machine and if she’s breaking a sweat trying to fight the Big Bad, things are definitely not going to go well. They start praying that Batman figures something out. They freak out. They are intrinsically fucked.
But God Forbid you catch sight of the Red Hood. The prodigal son is a legitimate killer, and if Batman’s letting him blow out brains then the JL knows he’s desperate. And a desperate Batman is not good. At all. They are definitely fucked.

I wonder if, in superhero universes, the villains ever get contacted by those “Make a Wish Foundation” and similar people.
I mean, the heroes do, of course they do, kids who want to meet Spiderman or Superman or get to be carried by the Flash as he runs through Central City for just thirty seconds.
But surely there are also the kids, who - because they are kids and sometimes kids are just weird - decide that what they really, really want is to meet a supervillain. Because he’s scary or she’s awesome or that freeze ray is just really, really cool, you know?

This is something one of my buds asked me to spread around. The story he’s got planned for this is first-rate! It’s sort of similar in tone to stories like Berserk but with a Lovecraftian twist and elements of classic monster movies and gothic horror sprinkled in. So, if you’re into any of those things, you’ll really like this story! Hope you guys enjoy what he has here so far!
Hunter’s Call

Heyo, I’m very new to drawing and I wanted to show off my manga/graphic novel idea that I’ve been working on so far. Nowhere near done with the first chapter, but I figured I’d ask for advice from artists much better than I am. Any and all advice and criticism is welcome!

So, good things about the new Harley Quinn season so far:
Harley and Ivy’s relationship still going strong
Cheetah went kawaii
Talia al-Ghul is a straight-up boss while also managing to be a hopeless parent
Nora Fries. Nuff said
My girl Livewire finally got a line in the series
Clayface is fucking WINNING!
Nightwing loves his butt
Alfred taught Harley how to be a bitch (A sentence that only makes sense if you watch the show)
And Bruce Wayne is DJing in Vegas from prison
Bad things about the new Harley Quinn season so far:
They forced me to learn that Snowflame is a thing that exists
That is all

I just started a Youtube channel!
Figured I’d share the link to the first video with you all in case any of you want to check it out. Be warned: I am still learning when it comes to video editing, so don’t judge me for the semi-poor quality in that regard. I did the best I could, but I do think it turned out pretty well considering what my past videos I made for Youtube years ago looked like (Ugh... Don’t remind me...). Anyways, don’t forget to like and subscribe if you like what you see, and I hope you all enjoy this video!

I saw a post in the My Adventures with Superman tag claiming that Lois "finally" has a character. I really like the show and it's version of Lois too, but I want to make this clear: Lois Lane has been around for over 80 years and she's always been a distinct, dynamic character with a lot going for her, every bit as admirable as Superman. This isn't a new thing!
Like any character Lois has had some bad adaptations, but she's been a great character from the beginning, and I wanted to show off some panels from comics over the years so anyone new to Superman lore can see why she's a beloved character and the MAWS portrayal is building on that, not starting from scratch.

Lois in the golden age comics (1939 through the 1940's) was shown to be a career-driven woman who didn't take shit from anyone. This was an era where a lot of women were entering the workforce because men were serving in WWII and there was excitement and change in the air, and Lois was meant to be a reflection of that. She fought against the sexism of her boss sticking her with the advice and gossip columns because she was a woman, and she was go-getting reporter out to get a real story. From the beginning she was fearless (sometimes reckless), driven, and had no patience for Clark Kent's (feigned) cowardice (and was always full of sick burns). She never let anyone push her around.
And she's been pretty consistently like this her entire run as a character. Of course, there were some bad writers, and there was a time in the 50s when all female characters had to be marriage obsessed (Lois wasn't the only one hit with this, Wonder Woman was too), but she reverted back to her firebrand self in the 60's and 70's, and when the 80's came along, characters started getting more filled in backstories, including her- this was where we started seeing stuff about her home life, her childhood moving around as a military brat, and her troubled relationship with her father and sister. She had an interior life, inner conflict- and she still kicked ass and always got the last word in. As someone invested in journalism, she is THE coolest fictional journalist to me.
This was also when comics started focusing on Clark being who Superman WAS rather than a pure act, and we got to see their relationship really grow and Lois fall for Clark, not Superman. So here, have some panels of Lois being great and see the scope of her own personality.

Lois also has lots fun little quirks and hobbies comics readers know about- she takes her coffee a certain way, she doesn't cook much because she's so on the go (so Clark is the one who cooks in the fam), she likes to sit on Clark's desk when they're talking (this happens in other Superman media too), she REALLY likes monster trucks and Clark REALLY doesn't but will support her anyway:

Also, she's always seen through to who Clark really is:

Anyway. Have more of my favorite Lois panels because I have a lot:

also this one because I'm gay:

My Adventures With Superman is honestly a really impressively good example of how you can make an adaptation radically different and new while still doing justice to the source material by just approaching said source from a place of love and respect. The show is unabashedly and upfrontly meant to be a very explorative and experimental take on Superman that does the classic premise in new ways, revamped for another time and medium.
So many of the characters, designs, aesthetics, and world feel so extremely unfamiliar and unlike “traditional” Superman. But it still FEELS like Superman. The core, the spirit, the SOUL is absolutely and unmistakably there. The characters are all incredibly in-character and instantly recognizable. The plotting and writing feels straight off the page of the comic.
Even with major reinventions, this is so obviously and clearly Superman. Not some hoary “deconstruction” or obnoxiously self-aware “parody”, it’s just unabashedly honest-to-God played absolutely straight Superman. Even through all the changes, it’s that same classic, undistilled, nostalgic vibe of a Superman comic with Clark as a lovable, goofy guy with powers trying to be an example to the world, fighting crazy bad guys, helping old ladies across the street, and winking to the reader after Lois and Jimmy fail to see through his disguise yet again before cringing because Perry yelled at him for calling Perry “chief” again.
Hot, overeager tomboy Lois Lane is a bit different from usual but she’s so clearly still that same gorgeous would-be star reporter that every Superman falls in love with. Jimmy has been reimagines as kooky conspiracy buff, but he’s still ultimately Superman’s Pal who gets into wacky situations by virtue of being Superman’s Pal. Perry, Lombard, Ronnie, and Cat are all very different from the comics superficially — hell, Ronnie has had his gender flipped — but they are all still instantly recognizable as the same eccentric bunch of newsfolk they were there. Livewire and the Intergang members are all totally changed but at their center, they’re the same; same powers and gimmicks, etc.. Dr. Ivo is now a douchey techbro and yet he’s still fulfilling the very same role he does in the comics as a self-centered mad scientist who creates things that spiral beyond his control. Even Parasite, the most radically altered of all to the point of no longer being sentient, is still identifiable as his core concept of a monster that feeds on the lifeforce of others and becomes more powerful as he does, while also weakening when he can’t do so.
I really, really like it. It’s a wonderfully imaginative and well-put-together take on a very old series that really brings the concept into the modern age in a way that hasn’t really been done successfully outside the comics since the DCAU back in the 90s and early 2000s. People writing Superman or just superhero fiction in general should absolutely take notes from this show.

So, I’m late to the party, but I just finished up the “Beast Boy gets depression (and maybe a pill addiction?)” arc of the final season of Young Justice season, and I was here for it. But then I went to look for fic focused on it, and found there was none? I was immediately tempted to write a sibling fic about Gar and Megan both struggling to cope with Connor’s “death” on their own before coming together and being there for each other in their grief. But after poking around, it seems like this arc was kind of controversial, and maybe that’s why there’s no fic? Do you think it’s worth it to write this type of fic even when it doesn’t seem like anyone but me wants it?
I'd say it's probably still worth it. Just because there isn't a fic out there yet, doesn't necessarily mean people don't want one. I would just say that you should definitely be careful when writing it since if you get certain things wrong about pill addiction and depression, people will get pretty pissed at you
