Doing so can greatly benefit your well being, and open you up to new beginnings and blessings.
Being mindful means slowing down; enjoying a moment whether it’s sitting in the sun, gardening, doing dishes or eating a meal.

It's a day late, but May has turned into June! If you're like me, and find the months moving quickly, take some time out of each day to slow down. We can get so easily caught up in the hustle and bustle of each day, that we forget to appreciate the incredible things happening around us. Today I spent ten minutes just sitting and watching a young cottontail in the backyard, grazing the long grass while the rain started to gently fall. It was peaceful, and needed. Make time for you.

Healthy Living Simplified
In a world inundated with complex wellness trends and fad diets, the essence of healthy living often gets lost in the noise. But amidst the confusion, there exists a simple truth: healthy living can be simplified. It's about returning to the basics, embracing wholesome choices, and nurturing our bodies and minds with care. By stripping away the unnecessary clutter and focusing on what truly matters, we unlock the path to a vibrant and fulfilling life. Welcome to a journey where simplicity reigns supreme, and the pursuit of wellness becomes a joyous and attainable endeavor for all. In the symphony of daily life, there lies a subtle melody: the voice of our bodies, whispering their needs and desires. To truly nourish oneself, is to heed this call and to listen intently to the cues our bodies offer. Every sensation, every craving, every pang of hunger is a message waiting to be decoded, and by doing so we are able to unlock the profound wisdom of our bodies; guiding ourselves towards food that nourishes and replenishes, energizes and sustains. Embracing this sacred dialogue is what will forge a harmonious relationship with the vessel that carries us through life. All of that said, have you ever noticed that near the end of your meal you are chewing more than earlier on? Do you find it harder to swallow the food you are currently chewing? This is one example of a cue your body will offer -- You're full! Your body is often full much sooner than your brain realizes it and the feeling of "fullness" is actually over-eating. An important step to a healthier lifestyle, is mindful eating habits. No, not a diet, not a rigorous exercise plan. Simply mindfulness. There are foods that make us feel fuller, faster and there are foods that do this but offer very minimal nourishment. Our bodies need carbs and our bodies need sugar, but our bodies also require balance. Balance is the key to everything in life and without it life loses its equilibrium, and we find ourselves navigating turbulent waters, yearning for stability and harmony. There are two things I want you to do, after reading this; drink more water, and practice mindfulness while eating. Why water? Water is an important substance for our bodies, after all we are made up of up to 75% water (blood, digestive juices, urine and perspiration, and is contained in lean muscle, fat and bones). We cannot store water in our bodies (we aren't camels) and as a result need to replenish daily, often multiple times a day. Water also helps aid in weight loss, can help with clearing the skin and so many more incredible uses! If you're not a fan of water, try flavouring it naturally with cucumber, raspberries, or some lemon. Practicing mindfulness while eating is a great way to cultivate a deeper connection with your food, body, and the present moment. I like to focus on these tips when eating.
Slow Down: Avoid rushing through meals and take the time to savor each bite.
Engage Your Senses: Before taking your first bite, take a moment to observe the appearance, texture, and aroma of your food.
Focus on the Present: Center your awareness on the act of eating.
Chew Thoroughly: This will aid in digestion and your body will offer cues that you are "full" before the feeling of fullness sets in.
Notice Sensations: Notice feelings of hunger, fullness, satisfaction, or any other physical sensations that arise.
Be Non-Judgmental: Avoid labeling foods as "good" or "bad" and instead focus on simply observing your experience without attaching value judgments.
Take Breaks: Throughout the meal, pause occasionally to check in with yourself. Notice if you're still hungry or if you're satisfied. Healthy living, and creating a healthier lifestyle for yourself doesn't need to be complicated, mundane, or frustrating. It doesn't need to include lists, meal-plans, diets or supplements. It simply needs to be you focusing on your body and its cues, reconnecting with nature and all it has to offer. Venture out into the forest, a field, the park -- Whatever "nature" is for you. Sit in silence, soaking in all that is around you. Refresh for a minute and remember the 3 simple things you need for a simplified, healthier lifestyle: - Water. - Mindfulness. - Patience with yourself. Namaste.

Hello, and welcome!
Firstly, to introduce myself, I am Marie; a mother of three and an avid animal rights/welfare advocate.
I consider myself a "jack of all trades", finding enjoyment in many different activities, and hobbies. From painting, to hiking, to rehabilitation of small animals and reptiles… Working in daycares, kindergarten classrooms, hospitals. I have a wide variety of interests, but have been spending the last four years focusing on health and wellness both inside and out.
In this blog you will find tips, life-hacks, general musings, encouragement and more. Each topic, important to me in one way or another.
I am always learning, and growing and I encourage you to do the same! Life is beautiful, and it's important for us to embrace all of the ups and downs to truly experience it.
