OB animation comparison
Okay time to compare all the OB animations and see if we have any similar motives. This will not be structured and will just be in the order I notice things :3 Also stuff like blot dropping/consuming people are not counted as they are in all of the animations, this post will only contain smaller details like:
(Contains SPOILERS for all books!)
1. Riddle and Vil are the only ones that have these blot strings when they're done transforming. Their transformations also have the most cocoon like design (plus Idia but it is also a fire ball sooo...yeah). Now the cocoon is clearly here for the butterfly metaphoring/transformation symbolism. But back to the strings, in Riddles analysis I said that they could symbolize how Riddle feels/is controlled by his Mother. Perhaps Vil also feels like he is controlled or puppeted by the acting industry. He is after all always casted as the villain. Maybe also something about him now truly playing the part of a villain, so the strings get ut off? Anyway these two have some connection to being controlled.
2. Azul and Jamil are the only two (again disregard Idia he is a special case) whose phantom is not seen as the blot consumes them. Azuls case is a bit different since I'm still not sure if those are the phantoms tentacles or just blot but I don't think it really matters. As I said in both of their posts they both clearly have something to do with shadowy people. Jamil and his life is dictate by people higher up, that could manifest as an entity that does not show up when it dumps its responsibilities and orders onto Jamil. Azul however fears that the people in the shadows will find a way to hurt him or get a step ahead of him. They clearly deal with baggage that deals with shadowy people behind the curtain doing something.
3. Jamil and Malleus are the only ones that pull only one hand down their face. (Again Idia is an odd ball but I guess he can be hear due to story reasons) To me these two/three were to most willing to OB. Vil was as well but to me his felt more like him coming up with a plan on the spot/ he felt he was OB and was like "sure, why not". Malleus clearly knew what he was doing, no doubt about it. Jamil on the other felt like he was moving to like plan B or something. He clearly knew he could OB and I think he thought that he was so close to winning that he willingly OBd. Idia also willingly OB but he has no blot to run down his face edgy style.
And then some single thing that don't really go anywhere:
1. Leona is the only one to not be covered in some kind of a cocoon.
2. Riddle(and Idia to some extent) doesn't have a tear that runs down his face in his OB form. Maybe due to him not really morning anything that they've lost or something but instead OBing more due to anger. Idias "tear" is super small, almost like he's masking his true sorrow...
3. Malleus is the only one to have his tear actually run down his cheek and to have it and the fire to be on opposite side of his face.
4. Jamil is the only one to have a ring/halo that wraps around his head as the fire ignites over his eye.
Yippyy the OB animations are done, I'm finally free! But in all seriousness, analyzing all these animations was supper fun and all the notes on those post have truly made me so, so happy, thank you!<3 I'll probably do something like this for when Grim OBs. (he clearly is with where the story seems to be going with him but I guess we don't know yet.) In the meantime I might do some sillyer posts on twst or some other things I like, maybe even a introduction post, who know!

"A Radiant Reenactment" moment I liked
This event was so Cute馃グ馃ズ These four dialogs made me chuckle/cry and I wanted to share them!
1.

Him being pleased that he finally made it to a "party" is so cute. And him saying "this time", just agahagahhg I love him so much. But it's also so sad that he has to say that, as if confirming that this time he is on time.
2.

Does he really think that that long of a time has passed? I know that fae age differently (and assume they experience time differently too) but did he really think that they've been in the library for so long that their hair grew out?
This cute-patootie was extra cute this event and I just know he was SO happy that he got to help out.
3.

Time to cry, thanks Riddle! But seriously these moments of characters development when he goes against/doesn't follow the rules exactly make my heart go soft. But that "won't you, Mother?" Just ajdoahdidj- what can I say except that I'm so proud of him! And I know that the Riddle fans are here cheering with me.
4. (Last)

I just love love Love when Riddle calls the rest of heartslabyl his card soldiers, he sounds like a proud parent here (little ironic lol). I just love it, and him very much.
But that is all I wanted to say about this event, it was very cute and wholesome and the last twisttune was one of the prettiest things I've seen in a while. The outfits and Riddles hair also slayed!

Malleus OB animation "analysis"
My Man, it's finally time! Malleus is my favorite out of the OB gang and 1./2. favorite out of the whole game along with Ace so I hope I can do him justice. And ofc SPOILERS for book 7. And also as of writing this book 7 hasn't ended on EN and Caters dream is the latest one we've visited so NO SPOILERS about the rest of the book thank you!
Before Malleus OBs we see Lilia scream for him to stop whatever he is about to do, clearly he has some knowledge of what's in store for them if Malleus goes through with his "gift". Malleus activates(?) his UM which sends him into OB. As a quick side note, does his UM OB him every time he uses it or is this a one off thing?
Anyway, his animation starts with him holding his face with one hand. And we see him pulling blot down his face. He seems to be reveling in this power/state that he is in. He smiles, knowingly as his eyes convey a similar trans to Idia.
His phantom flies around him but never touching him (put a pin in that) as blot from its body splatters around Malleus's feet. The blot drops transforms into green fire which spawns thorns that wrap around Malleus, consuming him.
We see his eye, like with all of them, as he again seems to be reveling in this transformation. His sigh convey a thought of: "there it is, there's the power". The thorns untangle themselves from Malleus, revealing his OB form. His tail also unwraps around him and I just thought it was cute. He pulls his hands down like Jamil as his phantom roars in the background. He lifts his head, tilting it to the right as he lets out a single laugh as if saying he's ready now. Before tilting his head though, a single blot tear runs down his left cheek before a green flame erupts from his right eye.
I told you to put a pin in the fact that his phantom does not touch Malleus at all. All the other OBs have their phantoms touch them like Riddle or their very influential in their transformation like Azul. But Malleus's phantom keeps a distance to him and the blot that splatters seems to be a byproduct of the phantom moving around. It could be that Malleus is so strong that even his own phantom doesn't dare touch him or it plays into his stories themes of loneliness. Deep down Malleus is very lonely, he is ment to be a future king, so he gets treated with that attitude. He is also a fae who currently lives in the human world. The only other fae with him is Lilia but him leaving would make him even more lonely. Him being one of the strongest magic users in the world is also really not helping his case. So his phantom acts according to this, it stays clear of Malleus's way either fearing his power and/or race or because he is royalty.
Throughout his animation he is very much aware of what's going on, he is letting this happen. From his laughs and sighs to his little smiles that he wears every chance he gets, its clear that this is what he wants. Either his UM makes him OB or he's banking on it overbloting him, this is his plan A. The others tried to do something else before "deciding" to OB like Jamil or OB was a reaction like Leona but Malleus willingly decided to OB before trying anything else. Him choosing this path shows just how desperate Malleus is to keep the status quo and to keep people who are important to him close to him.
In NRC he's getting to live his dream, meet new people and learn about the world, so to him it's only natural that others would like to live in a dream as well. He also wants to please people and make them happy, so what's a better way to achieve that than to make everyone live out their biggest and happiest memories and fantasies.
His whole plan of making people sleep feels very child like to me. To me it shows just how young Malleus is at least according to a faes lifespan and how much growth he can still have. His plan is also very selfish when you think about it. We see Lilia scream for Malleus to back out of this plan but he goes on with it anyway. Most likely thinking that this is what's best for others while not actually hearing the other party out. I guess if you want to pull this back to his animation at the start he does look like an edgy 13 year old kid trying to act cool, but this is just me making a silly observation.
His animation has a bunch of little things that set him off from the others we've looked at: his phantom not touching him and him actively planning on overbloting, him pulling only one hand down his face (Jamil does this as well but I feel like this still counts) and his tail actively moving when his design is revealed. Also his little tier and his firey eye are on opposite sides and his tier actually rolls down his face. This tier rolling down his face could symbolize just how lonely he is and how it saddens him that he has to do this, perhaps feeling like he will sacrifice himself for, in his eyes, the greater good. But why the tear and the flame are on opposite sides I dont know, I would love to know but I don't.
Malleus's animation shows just how different and how lonely he is. These animation differences making him stand out from the rest and making him the only one with them. And his phantoms actions reflecting how he is seen and treated. His own reactions also making it clear that he is not like the other OBs we've seen before. All of these factors cementing just how deeply lonely he is and how alone he feels.
(Aaahhhh I've done it, every OB animation is done! I hope you've enjoyed reading these, all the interactions on these have really made my day, so thank you for those! I do plan on making a comparison post where I'll see how and who has similar motives in their animations. But like I said Malleus is one of if not my favorite, I adore his character and I hope that this analysis [that ended up being a bit more on Malleus himself than the animation but oh well] showed that love I have for him! My thought were a bit all over the place when writing this so other Malleus fans are free to add to this post<3 Also due to going crazy over Malleus, I hope that the analysis makes some sense and is not just me mumbling on about my fav character lol. Also not proof read/written on my phone as an ESL)

Idia OB animation "analysis"
uuuuboy the animation that's not like the rest of them! It however suffers the same fate as Vil and some others as it doesn't have that much to analyze:( but anyway, let's get on with this. I guess SPOILERS for book 6.
His animation unlike the others starts with a wide shot of Idia in front of the gate to the Underworld as it opens. Idia just stands there waiting and giggling to himself, his eyes giving off the vibe that he is in a trans of somesort.
Blot shoots out from the gate in a huge stream and Idia accepts this blot with open arms and a smile on his face. We see his eye and his reaction to the blot bring to mind that he finally understands how other feel like. His curse makes it near impossible to understand how the accumulation of blot feels like, so now that he is truly overwhelmed by blot he finally goes: "ahaa so this is what it feels like".
His curse seems to takes affect as he his consumed by a blue flame. The fire serves as his transformation cocoon as well. (don't ask me how those two can coexist) As this fire rages we see a being climbing out of the Underworld. This being raises its right arm over Idia as the flame around him dissappears, revealing OB Idia. He lowers his arms and sighs seemingly out of relief. Clearly he had thought about this moment and now he is relieved that its finally over. Three wires attach themselves to Idias back and we see that they originate from this phantom like being. Idia turns around, smiles like he is about to wreck you as a blue flame burns from his right eye.
Throughout this animation Idia is very calm and like I said earlier seems to be in a daze. His openness to the gates opening and OB is a clear sing how badly he wants to see his lost brother, even if it means horrible thing will happen to others and the world. He also blames himself for Orthos death so that could be why he is so open to this whole thing. Maybe thinking that if he has to suffer to bring his brother back, why shouldn't he. After all he believes that its his fault he died.
His transformation is truly short and its themes follow in the footsteps of Leonas and Vils animations. As in his stories themes are explored with his design, dialog and other things. This means that his animation is kinda empty of anything to analyze about but as I watched it some questions about Idia and blot in general popped into my head. First, is Idia the first of his whole lineage to OB? And second, can the Shroud family have normal phantoms? In Idias case his OB is sustained by Ortho from the Underworld. The blot being (most likely) transported into Idia through those pipes/wires. Ortho also acts as a replacement for a phantom from supplying the blot to OB and as a giant entity behind the overblotter. His OB being so different is due to his curse and his surroundings, highlighting how different he truly is. He is also at the gates alone and I do pull some symbolism from it. He is an introvert who isolates himself. He also only interacts with Ortho willingly, the only other person(?) in this scene. He believes its the world against them. And the only way to achieve victory is to get the one person who will have his back back no matter the from, no matter the cost.
Jeesus this is short, I'm almost considering not posting this as it is so short. But I guess this is what you get when your theme of not wanting to be the next leader of you faction and just missing your brother so so badly. His animation is different and honestly, his book really benefits from this animation. On EN, where these animations aren't yet implemented, he just shows up already in his OB form, since he can't accumulate blot. But I guess that's all that I have to say about him, so if any Idia fans want to add to this please do<3! (these post animation ramblings are probably longer than the actual analysis in this post so sorry if you thought I would have had a lot to say about him)

Vil OB animation "analysis"
Okay, I'm going to be honest, I have no clue what to analyze here. Like woth Leona, I was a bit confused as to why Vil OBed right then and there but we'll see what I can do with his animation.
His pre-animation confessions(?) is him thinking that he could finally be the fairest of them all if he were to straight up dissolve his competition and opposition. The Vil we normally see is very confident in himself but this outburst shows that he is insecure. If he isn't the number one in the thing he is trying to pursue, he gets self-conscious and him trying to poison Neige shows that he'll stop at nothing to be number one.
His animation, like the rest of them start with him raising his head as he pulls blot down his face. His laugh, like Jamil and Azul is maniacal but his is a bit more controlled. Normal Vil is very controlled and his every move and action are precise so his laugh here shows us that he is still in control somewhat.
His phantom shows up behind him and it pulls its own hand down its own face. After that we see Vil and he looks off. His expression and demeanor is like a doll. His little laughs just add to the creepy factor. There give me an image of a person just going throughthe motions. Combined with his laugh from earlier its clear that at this point he is loosing it. The phantom paints blot onto Vils face. He really looks like a doll as he just let's this happen to him.
We see a shot from further away and his pose mimics Leona with the open arms, again giving the audience the idea that he's just letting this happen. The phantom raises its hands over Vil as a blot blob in the form of a poisonous apple appears in its hand and drops onto Vil. The blot raises up from the ground first as a bunch of purple sparkles before transforming into these leafy/throny looking belts (idk what to call them) that wrap around him. His belts surround him into a cocoon, like Riddle. We see his eye and hear a faint gasp before the cocoon opens up and we see OB Vil limp down as blot strings let go of him. He raises his head and smiles as a purple fire is lit over his right eye.
His OB is in a wierd spot for me. His OB has parts with clear messages like the poison apple but as a whole it doesn't really have anything to analyze like how Riddle or Jamil had. But his theme of being a doll could symbolize being the fairest of them all as doll are seen as beautiful and being able to convey whatever you want. His demeanor could support this idea as well, since it very much gives off the "I will do anything to be the fairest of them all". These ideas combined give us an idea of Vil being a shallow doll that the phantom is able to do with whatever. This doll thing can also be connected with femininity and how his pursue to be beautiful leads him down the path of being more feminine. Dolls are also, as I already mentioned, toys that can portray anything, like an actor which is Vil does.
His whole vibe is very much I'll do anything to achieve my goal, like Jamil but Vils is more idk how to put it. Okay so Jamils feels more like him brute forcing his way through and Vils is more like him being ready to try anything to achieve his goal. So his OB feels like him putting on am act/becoming a being that could achieve his goal of being the fairest of them all.
(Yeah as I thought, Vils one would be the shortest out of all of these, like I said his animation is cool but doesn't have anything to analyze tbh. It has reference, sure but unlike Riddle whose OB has heavy themes of his mother's way of raising him, Vils ones is a lot more...bland I guess. I think it also comes down to what these characters struggle with and how it's shown. Vils aspiration to be the fairest of them all is kinda hard to describe through animation. If I was analyzing the whole OB eg. outfits I think these analysis would have alot more to them. It could also be that Riddle and his story just resonated with me to the point that I could find more stuff about it. So if any Vil fans are reading this, I would love to hear your thoughts about this animation and what I might have missed<3)

Jamil OB animation "analysis"
His OB is honestly packed to the brim with references and symbols. So let's hope I can do him justice. Like before we'll start with what happens right before he OBs. He screams that finally he'll be free. Free to be himself, do as he pleases and not have to follow orders from anyone.
In the animation, he laughs maniacally and pulls his head first down and then up, revealing his face. Unlike the others, he only pulls the blot down with his left hand. His expression is even wilder than Azuls as it conveys his thoughts that he has won.
His whole demeanor in this animation is that he has won in his eyes. There is however a hint of desperation to me, as before his OB his plan had been revealed by Azul and the twins. So this confidence to me comes from his belief that no matter what he'll make this work.
We see his phantom appear behind him and we don't actually know how the phantom makes the blot appear instead we see a side view of Jamil taking his hood of and the blot absolutely cover him. In this side view we see Jamil looking forward and combined with his posture remind me of a person waiting orders. His pupils being so tiny and the way he takes his hood off also remknd me of a person being hypnotized and follow and order they have been given. These obviously reference Jamils role but also his UM. Taking the hood off also make me think about the fact that Jamil wouldn't normally do this (and I mean OB), so him doing this tells the audience that he's doing this on purpose, that he knows what's going on. He knows that using this much magick this quickly will result in an OB. But he is ready, at this point, to do anything to secure his victory.
The blot that fell on him rises up as these snake like beings and wraps around him. We see his eye and for the first time he seems shocked, as he gasps a little. As the snakes retreat we see OB Jamil. He brings his arms right down to his side and doesn't really fall down. Again his posture reminds me of a servant. His bangels also make noise as he brings his hands down. To this symbolizes how Jamil sees himself as a prisoner.
He lifts his head as a blot halo(?) Wraps around his head before igniting a redish orange fire over his left eye. His small laugh and expression are also dulled down compared to the beginning of the animation. He seems more calculating and like his normal self.
His animation, more than the ones before at least to me, show what he struggles with. He's fed up being a servant to Kalim, following orders, putting others ahead of him just so that they wouldn't get sad/mad/whatever else. But even in his transformation he's just a pawn to his phantom. We don't see how the phantom distributes the blot on to Jamil, like a shadowy figure giving him orders. This could represent how he can't do anything about his role, as his parents "gave" him and order to fill this role. And thay to him these orders were thrown onto him from the higher ups. During the rest of the animation it looks like he is following or waiting orders, not being able to escape this fate even in this form.
(Hhhmmm I feel like this could have been longer, idk I just felt like I had more to say. I guess its more about what you say and not how many words you use. But I hope that the Jamil fans add to this if they have any thought to add<3 also I'm not really sure if the word "servant" is correct to use here but English not being my first language so I hope you can forgive me.)

Azul OB "analysis"
We start once again with a head raise. He draws the blot all the way down to his chin. His fingers look really wierd to me, their stuck together and combined with his face, he looks really off and unhinged. The blot also looks even more like tears with Azul when compared to Riddle or Leona. He also laughs maniacally just like before he OBs. He looks like he's trying to keep it together but absolutely not being able to.
His phantom appears behind him and as it flips behind him it splashes Azul with blot. To me this is the most interesting part of his while scene. Azul is shocked, he reacts to the blot unlike Leona. He stops laughing and tries to make sense of the situation. He looks at his hand clearly thinking who and why someone would do this to him.
Like we've seen with the other animations the phantoms actions reflect something that the Overblotter struggles with. With Azul this is his past and him being bullied. The phantom bullies him, it throws blot at him tarnishing his clothes and face. The phantom also never really gets close to Azul, with Riddle and Leona they were actively transforming them. But with Azul, his phantom works from the shadows. To me this is a reference to yes Ursula but to also how Azul conducts his business. Both of these characters work behind closed doors and you never know what they know or what their next move is. It could also symbolizes Azuls fear of being bullied again but knowing when or where it could happen. So this fear manifests into a figure from the shadows.
Its interesting to see that Azul reacts to the blot. He's the type of person to be prepared but clearly the bullying he reserved when he was a kid impacted him. Before he OBs we see him lose everything and that he becomes desperate. So to me this blot throwing is also a sort of wake up call to Azul. In his madness he's not aware of what's going on or what's happening to him.
As he's coming to terms with this bullying, tentacles close on him from the shadows behind him. These tentacles could be the phantom or just blot idk. But if they are the phantoms own tentacles then they could represent the bad end of deals, the once where you lose something valuable to you.
We see his eye, hear a shock like gasp and as the tentacles release him, he's in his OB form. He limps down like the others and as he raises his head we see a purple fire be set ablaze over his left eye. His laugh also sounds like he's made a really good deal. Like he's just managed to get what he want without you even knowing it. His limp is however different to the other (at least to me), to me it looks really pathetic. The others looked exhausted, or like their puppet strings had been cut of. But his looks like he's ready to be scolded. (This could however be because his form is nonhuman)
His whole OB scene is him not having any control, like Riddle but unlike Riddles one Azuls lack of control comes from within. Yes they both lose what was important to them but to Azul this is a bigger deal. To him losing the contract is humiliating. People have now seen that he's not as great as he's letting on, that he is vulnerable. He sees that him losing the contract is an opportunity for someone to have leverage over him, to bully him. His mask ha fallen off so he gets suprised, knocked out of his laughing fit and then ambushed from behind while shocked. The little to nothing he can do in this situation, he's completely unarmed. His OB is kinda like someone bullying him, he never knows when or from where the next blow is going to come from.
(This was a short one, sorry about that! His OB is really short and nothing really happens in it except for the beginning. His story motives are also hard to show in an animation like this, at least I think taht. Azul fans are again free to leave their thoughts in the comments<3 Again writen on my phone as am ESL)

Leona OB animation "analysis"
I think I need to start off by saying that I'm not an expert on Leona and his character. When reading book 2 I was honestly confused as to why he OBed and to me his outburst came out of nowhere. But onto the animation.
Before his OB we see Leona lash out, yelling how no one gets him, how no one can even try to comprehend his pain and suffering. Even before his birth his future was already set out for him, to always be in someone's shadow. Someone else would have the chance to be a king before him, someone else would always be stronger than him and there is nothing he could do about this. I think his future being certain also makes it uncertain, we know what happens to the number 1 but what does the number 2 get. But Leona did try, he became smart, strong, independent but he realized that it was useless to use these skills if he was going to always be number 2. So he became a person who stops everything when he sees nothing can be done to win.
The animation starts with a Leona holding his face and dragging blot down from his forehead. It's similar to Riddle but instead of looking like he's ripping his skin off, it looks like he's painting his face with blot or creating scars on his face.
Then his phantom appears, and blot gushes out of its mouth like saliva. Leona being covered in this "saliva" could symbolize him being seen as a "lower ranking individual". The blot being an outside influence that Leona can do nothing about and which is seen as an undesirable thing. The phantom also spews a lot of blot, like a hungry animal ready to devour its prey.
The blot lands on Leonas head and we see his expression. He looks like he is in pain, and still as a statue. His expression evokes a feeling like he's in pain and shock but having to push through it anyway. Blot lands on his hands which are open. His pose looks like a ruler addressing his subject or like he's readying himself for people to throw idk tomatoes at him.
The blot around his feet rises up in a spiral kinda looking like pieces of fur before trapping Leona. It doesn't cover him completely, it instead wraps around his arms and torso reminding me of spiderweb. The phantom lowers its head as if its eating Leona whole.
The phantoms actions seem really interesting. First it "spits" on him dirtying Leona and then it "eats" him. The phantom is all about dehumanizing Leona making him just one of its pray. The phantom "eating" Leona follow also the law of nature, the big ones eat the small ones. Even in his OB, Leona is the number 2, the one that gets eaten.
Like with Riddle, we see his eye shake before the phantom lifts its head and revealing OB Leona. He slumps down but he doesn't have the puppet strings like Riddle had. He raises his head and smirks as a orange flame appears over his left eye. His expression is that of an unhinged king, ready to take back what is his.
Throughout the animation the only noise he makes is grunts, like he's grasping for air. And at the end as he smirks his small laugh evokes an image of a person who is about to destroy you. That in his eyes we are nothing but small obstacles to trample.
I think Leonas OB is interesting as it's imagery is quite obvious but explaining it can be hard. (that's why this kinda sucks, sorry) But to me it shows that Leona is seen and that he sees himself as a person who is undesirable, always the second option. But also that there is nothing he can do about it, except just let it happen.
(Okay Leona is done. I honestly dont know if I explained anything in any sort of way that makes sense. Again Leona is not one of those characters that I follow closely so people who do can add their two cents to this <3)

Riddle OB "analysis"
Before the animation we can see and hear just how angry, frustrated and near loosing it Riddle is. Trey has taken away his main way of forcing his rules onto others, he's no longer in control of this situation. He refuses to believe that he is in the wrong, that breaking rules is sometimes okay and that his mother was in the wrong and by extension he is in ther wrong.(I could honestly go on and on about this bit but that's not what we are here to do and you should be familiar with book 1)
In the animation itself he raises his head and we see that blot has covered his forehead and his hands are pulling the blot down to his cheeks. His expression, hand placement, and his movement show just how fed up he is. He looks like he's ripping his skin off. Then his phantom appears from behind him and it grabs Riddle by his chin/neck. His hands also fall to his side, making him look like a puppet that the phantom controls. His eyes are still full of anger but combined with the phantom and his posture, he looks petrified, scared of what's happening to him. Blot drips down his face (that the phantom is holding up) and down to his hand and we see him balling it into a fist. The blot surrounds him into a cocoon while the phantoms hands close around the cocoon. We see his eye shake a bit before the phantom opens its hands revealing OB Riddle, who seems to have these long strings of blot around him, kinda like puppet strings. The strings let go and Riddle falls forward, limp from his waist up. Finally he lifts his head, and he smiles as a red fire appears over his right eye. His smile looks like a basic villain smile, he's confident, in control and ready to prove that he is in the right.
Throughout this animation we hear Riddle grunt and heave and scream in anger at first, the in agony when the blot overtakes him and finally we hear him let out a single laugh again evoking a feeling that he's in control of his situation now. (Or he feels like he is)
His whole OB scene is so interesting to me with the all of the scenes, except the last one, having him not really be in control. First he's consumed by his emotions so much so that he looks insane, then his physical control is taken away by the phantom, by taking hold of his face, forcing the blot to run down his face, and then incaseing him into that cocoon and into its arms. After transforming he "gains" his "control" back but it's not the Riddle that we know.
The holding of Riddles chin and keeping him in its arms, reminding me of a parent holding their child, those gestures can be very reassuring to a child but in Riddles case their not. Holding his chin is like his mother forcing Riddle to look at her, making it impossible to escape her gaze/ words, but in this case forcing Riddle to have blot land right on his face. The hands also look like like their just there, their not putting a lot of pressure on him, just keeping him there, trapped.
Then the cocoon scene, which is like caterpillar metaphoring into a butterfly. The phantoms hands incase him into a kind of hug, again trapping him, it also seals him and his transformation from the outside world. To me this symbolizes Riddles mother keeping Riddle close to her, "guiding" him (you can't really choose the path that you walk when someone is hugging you from the back ya know) but at the same time the blot symbolizes her corrupted influence on Riddle from wich he can't escape. The hands also prevent anyone getting close to Riddle.
He does however try to resist by balling his fist. I think this is genius, as that kind of shot in these types of contexts, a person like Riddle who is so, so angry, tell the audience that their holding their tongue, just letting this happen to them, maybe in fear of getting punished for fighting back.
His whole OB scene is him just being angry but also scared. Scared of what's happening to him but also scared of the consequences if he were to fight back. So he let's it happen, he screams in agony, balls his fist but in the end he transforms into a being that has the illusion of control.
(Hello! I've been thinking about these OB scenes for a while now and finally managed to put my thought on "paper". This analysis was done by watching the OB scene and then reading the chapters before and as Riddle OBs. These scenes have honestly so much to analyze that I've 100% missed stuff and also it's been a minute since I've visited book 1. Riddle and his story aren't also things that I think about everyday so Riddle fans can add to this analysis with their own thoughts <3. I do plan on doing all the other OBs and maybe comparing them with each other at the end! Thank you for reading this long af post Writen also on my phone as a ESL)

Been seeing a bunch of talk about content (especially reaction content) and came up with an idea. I know that at least like 12 others have come up with this as well and posted about it.
But the IDEA: content can be broken down to 2 main categories, quality and quantity. Quantity being how long does the creator take to upload more content (assuming they do this regularly for example a YouTuber). Quality can be broken down into 2 subcategories, production value and insight. Production value being how well the video is edited, if the images are high quality and/or there are no major writing errors in the content for example. Insight being what the content is actually about, the video teaches something new or is a source of inspiration.
With this you can categories alot of content, videos, pictures, text, etc.
Example:
High quantity and production value but medium to low insight -> 5 minute crafts
Low quantity but high production value and insight -> a video essay
Low production value and insight -> shitposts (the quantity doesn't really matter but I would guess medium)
#ideas#youtube#text post#dont take this too seriously#simplify#i dont know what im saying#i dont really know#not my idea#probably#im generalizing

I want YouTube back. Not the one where you have clickbaite titles and thumbnails. I want the one where everything was kinda low quality and made for the sake of happiness, not for profit or for the algorithm :( I miss that
