You know how a bunch of us put Halloween decorations up in August and Christmas goes out in stores halfway through October? We're allowed to do similar things with Pagan holidays too.
I used to feel like I had to do my celebrations on the exact date of a Pagan holiday and if I couldn't do something that day, then I didn't get to celebrate it. In retrospect, that's not very helpful. Do I believe that some moments in time have magical significance? Yes. Do I think being unavailable at that moment means I shouldn't celebrate at all? No.
Most of us don't get time off work for our religious holidays and have to squeeze the celebrations in amongst the rest of our lives. This means that seeing the holidays as more of a season than a single day can be really freeing. You won't get in trouble for honoring the sun three days after the Solstice. It's totally okay to give an offering to your ancestors half a week before Samhain. Don't let wanting a perfect practice stop you from having a good one.

Found some American glossy nightshade in my backyard randomly growing. PSA, here is a great example of not pulling random weeds that pop up in your backyard and burning them or handling with bare hands. 😳 You always want to be cautious cause it could be this plant or a different poisonous plant too.

Ok so this post is extremely long and I put it all together for my blogs Feeling sad page but as I don’t have a huge amount of followers I realize so many people are not seeing this information so I’m posting it here too!
alternatives without harming yourself:
holding/squeezing ice.
splashing your face with water.
getting a rubber band and snapping it against your skin (this could hurt, though it’s better than other ways that people usually choose to self-harm).
take a hot shower or bath.
eat something sour. it will take your mind of the urge. (lemon, sour lollies)
massage where you want to self-harm.
get a red pen or red paint and draw/paint over where you usually self-harm.
remind yourself as to why you shouldn’t do it. (scars, harms organs, leave memories etc…)
describe what you are feeling. (is the urge/pain in your chest, fists, legs, arms, head).
killing yourself will not help. it is not a solution.
you have your whole life ahead of you. you have so many more years that you can accomplish things in. for example;
having a family.
getting married.
to watch the sun rise.
to watch the sun set.
to save someone else’s life.
finish school.
get your dream job.
to laugh.
to smile.
to go camping.
travel to new places.
to wake up every morning to the person you love.
friends.
family.
to keep that promise you made.
to accomplish a goal.
to meet your idol.
to listen to new music.
theme parks.
video games.
chocolate.
to be able to look back and say “i made it”.
what you’re going through is temporary.
in case you need to hear this:
you are loved.
you are wanted.
you are needed.
you are beautiful.
you are handsome.
you are important.
you are not alone.
you are okay.
you are strong.
you are worth it.
you are smart.
you are not a failure.
you are useful.
you are going to be okay.

Tumblr added a bunch of tracking shit to share urls, so now ill teach you how to get rid of them
if you copy a url by sharing on the website, the link will look like this
Tumblr media
getting rid of tracking in these is easy, just delete everything after the question mark and you are golden
Tumblr media
in the case for the app, its slightly more complicated
Tumblr media
first you have to delete at. that appears before tumblr(.)com the other tracking shit on this one has a lot more info, so please, clean app urls. after the first set of numbers, there's a / you have to delete everything after it
Tumblr media
a clean Tumblr url should look like this
Tumblr media
blog safely

Did you know that you can do rituals in your bed? Or pretty much anywhere you like.
I've done multiple rituals in my bed at night because I didn't feel safe enough to sit somewhere else in my room and light candles in fear of any family members finding me. So I'm telling you now, in case you haven't thought of it yet, for everyone who is in the witch closet or can't practice their craft freely—rituals can be done anywhere. Do what makes you feel safe. Stay safe. Magick is accessible.

Reblogging to add some more tips that I’ve gathered
Incorporate acts of devotion or witchcraft in your everyday activities and hobbies. Stir intentions into a drink, listen to music that aligns with your intentions, or you associate with your deities, etc.
Pick up a new hobby for a deity
Use a necklace or ring on a string as a pendulum for divination
Open a window, even for cleansing, even if just a little
Adding onto prayers, pray to your own deities if your expected to be praying. (Before dinner, before bed, etc.)
Make a virtual worship space, alter, etc. Minecraft is a good example. Build some fake lore around it, pretend it’s part of a bigger story or a build. Get creative with it
Keep your Book of Shadows and/or Grimoire digital. I suggest a secret account; in case someone wants to look through yours. I have a secret Google account where I use docs to write mine, but feel free to use what you're comfortable with
Devote jewelry to the deities/spirits you work with. You don’t have to buy new, use what you have. Ask them and see what feels right. Wear it out, wear it constantly, do what feels right for you and that deity/spirit
Remember, your safety is your top priority, if it's unsafe, don't do it. Take care of yourself, the deities/spirits you work with will understand, and your magic will likely be better than if you'd burn yourself out
Hi everyone. Thought I’d do some closeted witch and pagan tips from a fellow closeted pagan witch. These are some things I’ve seen online and kinda mainly things I’ve done in my practice that have worked for me. In the future I might reblog and add on with new delopments
• Playing cards as tarot. They’re a great alternative. I love to use them for my readings. There’s plenty of free websites that provide meanings for the cards, and what playing card suits translate to what tarot card suits. One downside is you don’t have the major arcana, but it’s still a great tool to use if you’d like to do tarot
• Use candles. You can work with the candle itself for magick, or just the flame for the fire element. You can also use it in devotion to a deity and correspond things like the color and scent
•If you can collect them, crystals and minerals are wonderful to have. Collecting them could be explained as just a new hobby. Sometimes you can also get lucky and find some in nature. I’ve found some quartz in my backyard
•Altars hidden in plain sight. I have Lilith’s altar on my desk, using existing decorations I’ve devoted to her, and a few new things I’ve made and found for her. Your altar can simply look like it’s just some decoration on your desk, wardrobe, or wherever you set it up (I can talk more about altars in another post. Mostly pertaining to deities since that’s what I have experience in, but hopefully it can still be useful)
•Prayer. Praying is a great way to communicate with deities. Saying good morning and goodnight are two easy to do examples. If you pray in your head instead of aloud, it’s silent too, and a good way of keeping it a secret
• Meditation and mindfulness. Good for you outside of just pagan and witchy practice, this can also be a form of communication and honing your intuition
The internet is a great resource, but always take things with a grain of salt. People can be wrong, so always try to double and triple check your information. And see what works for you and your practice. Don’t be afraid to change it up and experiment
Above all, take care of yourself. You deserve it. The deities your working with will understand. It’s okay to take breaks, be gentle with yourself. Your trying, and that’s what counts. Have a wonderful day/night you lovely crows

So you are telling me, according to the San Antonio Police Department, its not a hate crime when you:
- threaten to burn a gay couple’s house down for two years and openly calling them slurs
- actually do burn down the house
- kill their dog and place it’s skull and harness on top of the couple’s mailbox for them to see
- shoot and kill one of them while they are crying over seeing their murdered dog’s remains while you are also calling them homophobic slurs
During both Pride and Indigenous History Month nonetheless.
Rest In Peace Jonathan Joss.

special reminder that sacrifices take many forms and don’t always require the death of something necessarily.
We live in a capitalistic society where money directly correlates with survival. Spending your hard earned money on supplies or offerings is most definitely a valid sacrifice. Most people do not have the means or skill to go out and properly/respectfully offer up an animal. The action of hunting, slaying and recycling is not relevant to most modern people anymore. We don’t hunt in fields anymore, but we do hunt for bargains at the grocery store. We do labor at our jobs for money. We exchange that labour for produce, meat, fruit, veggies and cream. Don’t feel like you’re cheating by offering a store bought steak to your deities just because you didn’t personally butcher the cow yourself. This all still counts even if it seems non traditional.
Time is a sacrifice. Dedicating hours to creating a piece of art for your deity, a song, a poem, or studying with them can count as a sacrifice of time. Time is a form of currency. Every living moment you spend honouring your Gods is a sacrifice.
Emotional turmoil or struggle can also be considered a sacrifice. Doing intense shadow work that brings you to tears but also allows you to overcome your struggles can definitely count as an emotional sacrifice, or a sacrifice of self comfort.
Working out and training your body is also a sacrifice of comfort, you’re literally offering pain and struggle up to your Lords as proof that you are willing to overcome adversity to become stronger and healthier. That is a sacrifice, one that most people (myself included) have a very hard time preforming.
A lot of our relationships with our deities revolve around transactions, giving offerings for example in exchange for blessings. Remember that even if you don’t have something physical to offer right now, there are always things that can be sacrificed or offered to the Gods that go beyond the physical. When we willingly put ourselves through strife in an effort to make positive changes in our lives we are making sacrifices. A part of us must be killed to create space for something new. Your Gods see your efforts and cherish them, do not underestimate their value.

Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.
It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

An ever-growing list of things Mother has helped me with/taught me
I'm sure there will be more as time goes on, so maybe one day I'll make a part two post and reblog this
Increased standards for those I let in my life, especially in dating
Letting my emotions show more
Expecting better treatment from others
Increased acceptance of my body and myself
Increased confidence in my sexuality
A fuck you attitude to those who harm me
Increased caution in who I choose to forgive
No longer apologizing when it’s not my fault
No longer blaming myself for everything when things go wrong, but acknowledging my mistakes

last week would have been the 58th birthday of bernard baran, who was imprisoned in 1984 at the age of 19 after a pair of parents failed to get him expelled from his position as a teacher's aide via a complaint about his uncloseted homosexuality and resorted to fabricating claims of pedophilia and sexual abuse. refusing a plea bargain for 5 years that demanded admission of guilt by maintaining his innocence, he received multiple life sentences and ultimately spent 21 years in prison. a scrawny boy of less than 100 pounds whose photo was published in the newspapers, he was beaten and sexually tormented, received threatening letters and a bounty was placed on his head. his conviction came in record time despite a total lack of evidence, countless contradictory and objectively impossible stories, and preschooler child witnesses outright asking for the "prize" they were "promised" after giving their testimony. his immediate appeal was denied, and afterwards his family was too poor to continue paying a lawyer. not a single lgbt organisation chose the side of a gay teenager being subjected to a kangaroo court in the middle of the satanic panic. ultimately, his release took until 2006, a few days after his 41st birthday, when a local advocacy group successfully proved the absurdity of his trial and the deliberate manipulation of evidence. he only got to live another 8 years in freedom, bearing mental and physical damage from years of abuse and negligent medical care. he needed a full set of new teeth to replace the ones that were punched out or broken and extracted. nevertheless, he enjoyed gardening and found work as a landscaper. his record has not been cleared to this day.

Maybe my standards are too high
But I refuse to put them down. When I date, I want something real. I'm not looking for second best and I'm not willing to be someone's fuck toy when it's easy and then be discarded when things get rough. If that's too much for someone, too bad for them, they're missing out on an amazing person
Lilith has spent over a year working with me and teaching me those painful lessons to teach me that I'm worth more. I deserve love. I deserve loyalty. I deserve kindness. I deserve better. And I'm not here to disappoint her by continuing to cry over someone who can't see my value beyond my body
I've cried the tears I need to, I'm entering healing, and I'm ready to take on the world again. Love isn't always easy, but anything that's worth it never is
