So, basically that park basically babytrap Bruce?
Ok I've got a cute batfam idea and I wanted to share.
Bruce gets all of his kids earlier than cannon, but he only ever finds out about them in one specific park.
When he first went to that park as Bruce Wayne he saw a poster for Haley's circus, he decides to check it out one night, comes back with a child.
Of course at the moment this is nothing else but a tragedy, and Bruce forgets about the park.
But about a year or so later he is in that park again after chasing some criminals in there as Batman, after catching them and tying them up for the police he makes his way back to the batmobile to find three out of four wheels missing and one freaked the fuck out kid.
He takes him home.
After this Bruce takes a minute to realize it's the same park where he saw the poster but adds it all up to a coincidence.
Until another year or so he takes Dick and Jason to the same park for some family quality time, as the two boys chase each other around the playground Bruce notices a small little boy staring at him from behind a bench, he approaches the kid since he seems too young to be there all alone, when he asks where his parents are the kid simply answers "Egypt", when he asks if there's someone else looking after him he just shakes his head
Bruce takes another kid home that day.
Now Bruce is starting to notice a little bit of a pattern, but again chops it up to coincidences.
Until he's once again in the same park chasing after a possible drug deal happening there when he hears rustling in some bushes, deciding to investigate he finds a savage little girl holding a knife and covered with blood.
He cautiously takes her to the cave, but soon she's welcomed to the home.
Now Bruce is starting to notice something, he decides he needs to be a bit more careful whenever he end up in that park.
But then some months later the kids insist on going there to play in the playground, Bruce caves in and takes them over, not even 20 minutes in Tim and Cass come running towards him hand in hand with a little blonde girl wearing a purple hoodie.
He does not take her home with him, but that doesn't stop her from coming over every other day, and she's always welcome.
Bruce has of course at this point accepted that this park is blessed cursed, considering he got four and a half kids from it, he decides to try to evade it just in case he somehow get four and a half more.
That is until he gets a message from Talia asking him to meet up at that exact park, he sighs, leaves, comes back with a baby.
Bruce decides to evade that park as much as he can unless it's for an absolute emergency.
Until about 3 year later he has to go to the park for a fund raiser event, in which toddler Damian sneaks away for a good 30 minutes, frantically Bruce runs through the entire park just to find Damian playing ball with another older boy in a yellow shirt.
Much like Steph he does not take him home with him, but the kid is always welcome in the manors walls along with the rest of his children.
Bruce has no idea how or why all of his children essentially spawned in the same park, and he's kind of given up on evading it, in the future his kids might joke about the coincidences and claim the park as their "spawn point" but for now, as surprising and stressful as they were, Bruce is completely grateful and happy with all of his children that that park provided.

Merlín fic idea for adoption
Hi,
So, here's what happens.
I have this idea for a Merlin fic (BBC), but since I don't have much time to even develop it… well, I'd like to give it up for adoption.
¿Y qué mejor lugar para darlo en adopción que esta plataforma?
------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
So, here's what happens.
I have this idea for a Merlin fic (BBC), but since I don't have much time to even develop it… well, I'd like to give it up for adoption.
And what better place to give it up for adoption than this platform?
The basic idea is this: Merlin never had magic. In all his time and adventures with Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table… it's basically him achieving everything he achieved in canon, but based on some weird luck and self-loathing.
Like, he doesn't have a single drop of magic in his body, to say the least. Yes, he's still the son of Balinor and Hunith, but he's not capable of commanding dragons or anything similar.
In fact, he thinks the dungeon dragon is Uther's exotic war pet until someone explains its history to him.
But because he's managed to survive so much and overcome several trials that no one in their life could do without magic, many of the characters he interacts with believe he does have it. However, his ability to survive everything that happens to him is due to pure coincidences and Merlin's unorthodox methods to save the day.
The only ones in the castle who are convinced that Merlin doesn't have magic are Gaius, Gwen, Lancelot, the servants, and—against all odds—Uther. I mean, they've seen the boy; he doesn't have a single drop of magic in his body.
And if he did, it would be a curse. A lot has happened to him since he arrived in Camelot.
Both Arthur and the other Knights of the Round Table, Morgana, and Mordred, believe that Merlin does have magic, but he's just not very good at controlling it, or—as could be the case, from the more innocent perspective of the knights—that Merlin isn't aware he has magic and it's so instinctive that it only activates in moments of high risk.
This leads them all to believe they're keeping Merlin's magical secret… when magic never existed in the first place.
Even Morgana comes to resent Merlin, as in canon, only she doesn't do it because she feels betrayed by the poisoning attempt, but because she believes Merlin knows he has magic but won't tell anyone; she believes Merlin simply doesn't want to use his magic or wants to get rid of it, and that's why he never uses it.
----------------------------------
So, as you can see, this is the idea for a Merlin fic that came to me. And while I love it and have some key ideas for that universe, I don't have the time to develop it as I'd like, so I'd like some samaritan soul, a fan of the series, to adopt it.

Hey! Just wanted to know if you’ve got any more ideas for that kid Merlin you did a bit ago?"
While reading some fics, I had this crazy idea to create my own story and dive a bit deeper into this universe.
In most of the fics I’ve read, Merlin transforms, knows his real age, and has his memories.
In some fics, Arthur is also a kid, and Merlin’s magic always gets revealed.
In this one, I wanted to play with the idea of secrets and circumstances surrounding Merlin’s magic, so I’m not sure how it’ll turn out, but we’ll see.
Merlin arrives in Camelot just like in canon, and everything goes as usual until the scene where he saves Arthur from the knife attack.
The spell was actually meant to rejuvenate the person until they disappeared from the earth, but Merlin’s magic protected him, so he only ended up staying at the age of 7.
Since the spell drained a lot of his energy and Merlin doesn’t know how to use his magic properly, it’ll take time— with Gaius’s help— to find a spell or potion to undo the damage and get back to normal.
Merlin transforms into a 7-year-old kid: small and skinny.
Merlin doesn’t remember anything about his teenage/adult version, only his childhood memories.
He freaks out a lot when the transformation is over and he realizes he’s not with his mother in Ealdor and Gaius is all wrinkled and old.
Gaius didn’t want to tell Hunith at first that Merlin had been cursed, thinking he’d find a solution easily.
But after not finding any solution, he writes several letters until he sends one that doesn’t make her panic from not being able to contact him.
Gaius is having trouble finding a solution because of the limited information on this kind of spell and because Merlin’s own magic is trying to fix things on its own.
So, Merlin will be small for a long time!
Merlin’s magic is very instinctive, so most of the time, it seems like just good or bad luck when it happens.
It manifests in various ways, like when someone trips just before noticing Merlin is there, or when he hides and no one can find him,
Things like making things explode, moving objects, or making them float only happen very rarely and are almost never seen by others.
It’s like Harry Potter’s accidental magic.
People (George, Arthur, the servants) think that these rare events are caused by Merlin, but unconsciously, as if it’s a “magical residue” left over from the spell Arthur cast on him.
It’s kind of a side effect of the spell.
To keep Uther and others at court from killing Merlin if they see the consequences of his magic, they make up exaggerated excuses to justify the events.
When George receives Merlin as his apprentice, he accidentally discovers one day that the kid made a vase float and explode. That’s how he learns about the “magical residue.”
The servants start noticing the strange events happening with Merlin over time.
Arthur also realizes around the same time as George, since he spends so much time with Merlin.

(Imagine that he has some medieval clothes, but this would be a reference of Merlin's appereance in this AU)

Voy a ser sincero, pensé que se llevaría a la hermana Agnes con él, por lo poco claro que estaba al respecto.
I mean, if I had to survive something scary or suspicious, I would take Sister Agnes with me just to make sure I survived. Sister can be scary if she puts her mind to it.
Vincent, be clear, what's up there?
tebesco had a vape overdose again?
Aldo discovered that O'Malley inadvertently smashed his chessboard with a cup of coffee?
Or do you just want to warn that another turtle laid eggs under the statue of the virgin mary again?
This poor man barely survived the conclave, he can't handle any more intense, it's not healthy for his nervous system.
Vincent: let’s take this upstairs to my bedroom..
Lawrence: Sure, What’s up there?
Vincent: please make sure to bring protection
Lawrence: *clutches crucifix* WHY WHATS UP THERE????!!!!

Hi! I need a little of help here!
Hi, I wanted to know if someone could help me find a fanfic I read a long time ago. It's from Ao3, and if I remember correctly, the main characters were Bucky and Tony.
It revolved around Bucky, and how he manages to escape from Hydra's clutches, just because he becomes a big fan of the weapons Tony designed. He even collects them.
Basically, Bucky becomes a big fan of the weapons that Stark Industries generates, because Hydra at one point got them several for their missions, and he only wants to use them because they're so high quality and superior to the competition.
Many events did follow MCU canon, like Tony's kidnapping and then shutting down weapons production, or Bucky going on missions. And then the canon changes, because Bucky at some point interacts with Tony face to face, and for the few appearances of the other characters, I remember that Steve was still looking for Bucky since nobody was able to trace him.
Maybe I'm wrong about the plot, since I read it a long time ago, but if anyone knows of a fanfic with a similar idea, please don't hesitate to share it.
Thanks for your help

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

Get yourself a fabric store that will light your fabric on fire for you
No but legit I asked what the fiber content of something was and the guy didn’t know so he cut a chunk off and lit it on fire and felt the ashes and was like. Yeah this is mostly cotton with a lil bit of silk. And that was the moment I knew. This is it. This is the fabric store for me. Also that guy is marriage material. Not for me but damn some person is gonna be so happy with him.

It's been a while since I've posted anything from Irondad… much less Marvel, but a while ago, thanks to a few likes, I found some Iron Dad and Spiderson content that really got my brain to start generating content.
So:
An idea that I feel is relatively canon in-universe where Peter and Tony can have a perfect platonic paternal relationship and everyone is still alive. And I say Platonic Paternal because Tony always takes too long to adopt Peter.
But, as I was saying. A Tender thought on the more mundane interaction between Tony and Peter as the father and son that they are:
1- I don't know if Tony and Peter ever notice it, but on repeated occasions when Tony has a snack on hand, be it chips to more elaborate things like meat and mash, Peter instinctively opens his mouth and makes a very adorable sound. Just like chicks do with their mother birds when they are hungry, and whenever Peter does that, Tony always gives him a big mouthful of whatever he has at the time.
Tony has a Frappé? Peter has the best sips, and incidentally eats all the whipped cream. Regardless if Peter already has an extra large milkshake in his hands at the time.
Tony has his favourite burger? Peter is entitled to a bite and a good handful of the fries… even if he has the children's menu on his own.
All it takes is for Peter to make that sound for Tony to give him a bite of whatever he's eating at the time.
Not to mention that Tony, like any father, literally gets exaggerated amounts of the food that Pter once showed some interest in.
Were those strawberries good? No matter, Tony made sure he had a contact with the strawberry supplier and now they are always available everywhere Peter has access to them.
Does Peter like various junk food restaurants? Tony is further accused of monopoly for wanting to buy up all the various restaurant chains so that he can own them and Peter doesn't have to use coupons.

Visual reference of Biddy, peacefully sleeping her afternoon nap, after having destroyed three of Gaius's glass vials with her magical crying and having left Merlin without clean handkerchiefs from so much crying.
These would be within her first days inside the castle, when it was still a secret to everyone… except George, because George was the one who helped Merlin wash the baby's diapers, and - to the surprise of many - he was an excellent baby charmer.
Therefore, he was also one of the fastest at putting Biddy to sleep.
"Between servants and maids we help each other, Merlin" he would have confessed to her after the baby calmed down and let herself be covered "Besides, having several younger brothers definitely teaches you some tricks"
......................................
......................................
But, leaving aside the cute physical reference of Biddy.
Uther himself could dig his grave outside the castle if that prevents his own son and heir from beheading him with his sword.
Arthur would have to be completely restrained by his knights and Merlin to prevent patricide. Uther was only saved from an instant bloody death because Biddy and Merlin were scared to death to see him so upset.
Not even Merlin had ever seen Arthur so furious in battle!
Arthur surely had to ask Morgana, who also wouldn't know what was going on at the moment, to keep the court calm and distracted from whatever was going on internally. While clearly a revolution against King Uther, led by his only son and heir, was beginning in the castle.
Uther would be locked in his chambers until Arthur could at least calm down enough to start a whole strategy about dethroning his father.
They were long and exhausting days for everyone in the castle.
Even more so because of the occasional arguments, especially in the first days of the King's confinement, which ended in terrifying screams for the few listeners, between the King and his son.
The tension, which was already palpable in the air, became solid when Arthur gave Uther the chance to defend his honor and position as ruling King in a sword fight.
If Uther lost, he would have to surrender his throne to Arthur, and be sent to one of Camelot's far-away hunting castles to live out his final days… under penalty of death if he dared to try to return.
But, if Arthur lost, Arthur would not only lose his position as heir to the throne, but would also go far away, never to return. Taking with him those who decided to leave of their own free will.
The council, especially the older councillors, would be at a loss as King Uther removed his crown, then went to his son and placed it on his head.
Arthur became King that day. Uther left shortly after.
First I wanted to say hello and tell you that I love your works. They really have me on the edge of my seat every time I read them.
Second. Can you imagine that Merlin, in some new alternative universe, for some reason, upon arriving in Camelot, arrives with a baby? It's all still a Merthur ending, it should be noted.
Like, we know that Merlin was already a bit of an outcast in the village for the reason that nobody knew who his father was and even more so because strange things were always happening around him.
The situation gets much worse when he finds a crying baby in the middle of a burnt tent near the village.
Will and his mother try to help him for a while, but with the visits of the evildoers to the village becoming more and more frequent, Merlin and the baby have no choice but to go to Camelot.
And so the adventures begin!
Only now Arthur wonders if they can make crowns for babies, because he is willing to marry Merlin and legally adopt the baby as his own.
And Morgana… well, she and Gwen enjoy dressing up the baby in all the clothes from her old dolls. Not to mention that she notices that by taking naps with the baby she no longer has nightmares.
The knights become, in some way or another, glorified nannies. The servants and maids must chase after a baby who never stops causing mischief in the castle.
And Merlin just wants to survive colic season and potty train his baby… and everything would be easier if there weren't a murderer or a resentful wizard trying to kill Arthur every 3 minutes.
First, thank you so much for the compliments! 🥹🤧❤️
About the concept. I love it! I don't think going to Camelot to live would be Merlin or Hunith's first option for a baby that can't control their magic at all. So I firmly believe Hunith would send Merlin with the baby there so Gaius can take them to a druid camp so they could take refuge there.
The problem is, before Gaius can do so, Merlin is made the prince's personal manservant. Merlin can't exactly deny the king and he does need the money to take care of his baby so he decides to stay to Gaius dismay. Gaius and Merlin try to keep the baby hided at first so they take turns taking care of her (in my mind is a her) in Gaius' tower in secret. It works out for some weeks but then the plague (Nimueh's Afanc) happens and Arthur searches Gaius' tower.
Arthur: (enters Merlin's room) Merlin: (running inside) Arthur, wait! Baby: (sitting on the bed, looks up at Arthur and gives a cute giggle) Arthur: (Turns to Merlin slowly) Merlin? Merlin: Yeah? 😅 Arthur: Why is there a baby in your bed? Merlin: (in panic, shouts the first thing that comes to his mind) She is mine! Arthur: ... Arthur: What? 😧 Merlin: (repeats more quietly but more firmly) She is mine. (runs to hold her up and embraces her) She is my daugther. Arthur: (thinking) But... but he is so young. (says) Where's the mother? Merlin: (with pain as he remembers the burnt tent) She passed away. Arthur: (his heart hurting for Merlin) I'm so sorry. But Gods Merlin, why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have given you so many chores if I knew... (thinking) And I almost sacked you. I almost sacked a single father with a baby in arms! (says) And why the hell are you hiding her? Merlin: I... wasn't sure if I could keep her. Arthur: Of course you can keep her! What kind of master do you think I am? Knight x: (from outside) Sire? Arthur: (shouts back) In a minute! (to Merlin) What's her name? Merlin: Brigitta. Arthur: (repeats softly and smiles) Brigitta.
From then on, Arthur doesn't give Merlin as many chores and raises his salary considerably. And then everybody else finds out about Briggitta and go "I've only met Brigitta for a day and a half, but if anything happened to her, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself".
Some events would change, obviously, and some would remain the same but with a new perspective. I don't think Merlin would have time to make Lancelot a fake seal, for example, having to look after Brigitta and all. I can imagine Lancelot becoming Brigitta's first unnofficial babysiter, then Arthur makes it official so poor Lancelot has a salary and a place to stay in Camelot. The Poisoned Chalice episode would remain the same, except Arthur would be more in panic mode and desperate because MERLIN HAS A DAUGHTER! BRIGITTA CAN'T LOSE HER FATHER TOO!
I think it would be The Beginning of the End where Arthur and Morgana find out about Brigitta's magic and Merlin's magic. Not because they discovered her, surprisingly, but Merlin decided to tell them all the truth about her and himself after seeing how they saved Mordred. Also, since Merlin saw Brigitta's possible future in Mordred, he wants to leave Camelot too to keep her safe. Screw all what the dragon told him about destiny, his daugther comes first.
So Merlin and Brigitta are about to leave with Mordred with the druids. They are having a heartfelt goodbye with Arthur, who scorted them there, but then...
Brigitta: (cries very loudly in Merlin's arms and the earth starts shaking a bit) Merlin: I know, I know, baby, but we have to go. Brigitta: (cries more loudly and extends her little arms to Arthur) Arthur: (barely containing his tears) I'll miss you too, Biddy. But this is the best for you- Brigitta: ATHU! 😭 Arthur: (open his eyes wide) What did she just said? Brigitta: (still crying and making grabby hands at him) ATHU, ATHU, ATHU! 😭 Arthur: (tears roll down his eyes) She said my name... Merlin, she said my name! (grinning widely) Let me hold her one more time, please! Merlin: (gives Brigitta to Arthur) Druid leader: (urgently) We need to leave now! Merlin: (looking at Arthur and Brigitta tenderly and smiles) Leave, we'll stay.
I also can imagine Nimueh going after Brigitta's life instead of Hunith, and having to confront not only a very furious Merlin, but a feral protective prince.
That's how far my imagination can go. If you have any ideas of how Merlin and Arthur or other character would act in other episodes now with Brigitta in the equation, share it in the comments or reblogs. I'll be happy to read you 🥰

Hi, I think I need some help.
I think this is my first time posting about food, but oh well.
I think I need some help from the food loving community.
I happen to have a slight allergy to fish since I was a child, but now as an adult the latest reactions to my allergy were somewhat strong.
So until further notice I am prohibited from eating fish and seafood.
And, yes, I know we are in January and all, but in my country we are in the middle of summer and the freshest food is fish and seafood. Also, in a couple more months the heat will continue and even increase.
Does anyone know of any fresh food variant or alternative that can replace fish?

Oh my…
Well, Killi-baby would definitely be scared of Biddy.
Let's just say he's old enough, like those senior citizens dogs who literally don't know what to do when their owners bring a baby into the house.
Plus he doesn't get paid enough to be a glorified flame-throwing baby stroller. Nope.
He's not ready to do that whole night-flight thing again to put fussy babies to sleep or spontaneous vomiting on his back upon landing. Definitely staying away from Biddy until she can count to 100 would be great for him.
But Balinor?
Balinor! This is too entertaining!
I can literally imagine him going something like this!
Balinor, meeting Merlin: Oh! my sweet boy! I'm a father!!! squishes him because he has to catch up on all the affection he wants to give his son Couldn't this get any better?
Arthur, literally carrying Biddy in an improvised baby carrier: I'm glad you took the news of your fatherhood well… because you're a grandfather too! Meet Brigitta, she's an adorable little girl-
Balinor, looking completely scared at Merlin: Oh God! I knew that the lack of a father figure affected young people, but how is it that you're a father?! You're barely a baby!!! squishes him even harder Don't worry my son, you won't be taking care of my dear granddaughter alone anymore. Forget about her other father and we'll be able to-
Merlin: I'm not a baby! Biddy is! tries to get out of Balinor's suffocating embrace Besides, I'm not taking care of her alone! Arthur helps me! His position as crown prince of Camelot has us well protected!
That was enough to cause his near cardiac arrest. Because Balinor will be able to accept that he is a father and grandfather in less than an hour, that his son is a teenage father and that the baby's mother is not in the picture… But that Uther's son is raising his granddaughter and trying (because it is too obvious) to court his son?
That he will not accept!
If it were not for the fact that he already saw how the old dragon does not like babies, he would take his beloved son and granddaughter to flee Camelot and seek better lands in that very moment.
He still knows of some noble houses who have sons of matchmaking age who would make better husbands and stepfathers for his Merlin and Biddy.
First I wanted to say hello and tell you that I love your works. They really have me on the edge of my seat every time I read them.

Oh!! Yes! definitely yes!!!
The funniest thing?
Briggitta has Merlin's eyes, his same skin tone and curls, but she has the same hair color as Lacelot. Everyone seems to confuse both young people as a young couple and their baby.
Of course no one says it out loud, but many think that it is because the girl seems to adore that man who in a few days became her caretaker.
That she, at least since she saw that strong and kind man save her and her father from the forest, does not stop laughing in his presence. She, if Merlin does not get over the fact that Lancelot has no magic, seems enchanted by Lancelot.
He is her favorite person in the entire castle.
Arthur, who at that moment is trying to win over the baby, cannot help but notice that Lancelot is stealing (he is not doing it) the baby's attention.
And he's dying of jealousy, because anyone who sees them in the castle would think they're looking at a responsible and devoted father with his precious baby.
Arthur wants to be Merlin's daughter's favorite person!
He came first!
… well, lie, that was George, but only because he asked what he should do with the cloth diapers. And, a completely sleep-deprived Merlin said that for these reasons Biddy seemed to adore him and his weird, polished jokes.
So, to the exhaustion of Leon and some knights, we can see how Arthur is about to lose his (imaginary) battle with Lancelot - who, to emphasize, is simply following Merlin around the castle and helping him with the baby - with no way to win.
Biddy doesn't seem to care about expensive toys, or cakes (because she doesn't have teeth and babies can't eat cake), or tournament honours or tiny gold crowns.
And Arthur doesn't know what he should do to win back the attention of Merlin's daughter.
Biddy, it seems, has simply forgotten about Arthur and replaced him with the new boy with the olive skin and magnificent hair. Since she refuses to let go of her sling and starts crying if she's not in his arms.
(Arthur's thoughts, not Biddy's, she just likes being with her dad's best friend.)
Until Biddy starts crying non-stop after one nap.
Merlin can't calm her down, neither can Gaius, Morgana looks like she's about to cry as does the girl for not being able to calm her down, Gwen can't despite her vast experience and Lancelot is completely lost.
Everyone has tried to calm her down, because at this rate she's going to get sick, and no one knows what to do. She doesn't want to eat, her diaper is clean, she doesn't have colic, she's wearing fresh pajamas and she doesn't want to play either.
Then in one last attempt by Arthur, and he'll hit the first idiot who says he only did it because Lancelot seemed desperate, he decides to pick her up and sing her an old lullaby.
That was all it took. Biddy fell completely asleep in his arms. As if a cat had fallen asleep on his lap, no one dared - not even Uther, who was also worrying about the crying - to move him or Biddy.
And no, Arthur did not have a silly grin on his face for that entire week after the incident.
"I think I missed you Arthur," Merlin would comment, as he hugged him. "Oh, look at her, I guess you're not a cabbage head after all. You've got some good ideas in there."

Ok, I love it because Merlin is literally the youngest of the entire council, and therefore only acts as the advisor he is when there are important meetings.
But he is still a child. At least to the older councilors. And Merlin is youthful as his age dictates.
Like a child who is becoming an adult and is eager to learn and do his best. He is still clumsy, doesn't quite know court etiquette, and tends to interrupt speeches when he doesn't listen well.
Even though the meetings he goes to always end well, it is still somewhat tense considering he has only been with them for a short time.
Proposed scenario:
Camelot has been in tension with a neighboring kingdom for months, due to an altercation between the respective armies of each kingdom within the border area. Meeting after meeting has been brewing for months about how to proceed, but due to the lack of a real solution, both kings decide to meet to avoid more messengers. Since tensions had risen to the level of a possible real confrontation.
And, to the nerves of everyone at the round table, it would be the first meeting that Merlin formally attended within his title. At least, the first that would involve a neighboring kingdom.
He doesn't have the proper clothes, so Arthur gives him one of the robes that were originally designed for his arrival at the castle.
Merlin basically swims in the robes that Arthur gave him. Because Arthur had robes designed for Merlin thinking he was an elderly gentleman, not a young man who is just leaving the baby fat on his body behind. And, to top it off, it doesn't help matters that they have to put some extra seating in his seat at the council because the druids thought he was taller.
So what do we have? A Merlin, in clothes that are too big for him, in a chair that is too high even for him, who is sweating with nerves and excitement at being taken seriously… but who looks terribly adorable and it is impossible not to listen to him because of how excited he sounds when asking questions and simply taking his role as an advisor seriously.
It's like watching a little boy so excited about his lessons that you can't help but coo at him, give him lots of candy, and answer all his questions. And take his opinions seriously because of how sweet he is.
So, that meeting goes completely well, but only because the other king kept cooing at Merlin, who listened to everything attentively, and obsessively noted down in his journal trying to capture his version of the events. Also, because of his lack of knowledge of court etiquette, he interrupts both kings when something doesn't fit or seems unfair.
The advisors will say that Merlin's high wisdom made Arthur and the neighboring King find a middle ground to begin means of improvement on the borders, that his notes and thirst for justice made the king of Camelot see his defects and managed to improve as people.
Some servants will say that it was Merlin's magic that managed to convince the neighboring king not to attack Camelot, and that he even bewitched him because he kept praising the boy about his intelligence after the meeting in his chambers inside the guest tower.
But what really happened is that the other king was pleased to feel listened to by a very cute baby wizard, in addition to noticing that everything was a terrible confusion of an offended general.
Hello everyone! I'm back with another Merlin au! I hope you all enjoy! :D
In this AU, Merlin is born much, much later than in canon, such that Arthur is already in his late thirties and has been on the throne for over a decade by the time Merlin arrives in Camelot.
In this world, Uther had been assassinated by Morgause, leading to Arthur taking the throne and, at first, continuing the purge as a means to avenge his father. However, after some kind druids help him in finding Morgause after getting lost in the woods during a search party for the witch, Arthur slowly starts to soften his heart towards the druids, allowing them to live undisturbed on Camelot's lands. After all, they kept to themselves and offered assistance whenever a curse befell the land.
After a few years of peace with the druids, some of the druid elders travelled to the city itself, something they had never done before, and requested an audience with Arthur, claiming to have important information regarding a prophecy and Camelot's future. Trusting their word and curious about this prophecy, Arthur welcomes them into the castle and hears what they have to say.
And what they had to say was earth-shattering information for Arthur. They spoke of a prophecy as old as the Old Religion itself, how a king would be born to unite the warring land of Albion and restore peace, bringing the land into a gold age as the gods intended it. They spoke of how this Once and Future King would have a counterpart, the other half of his soul who would complete him and make him the glorious king that he was destined to be.
They told Arthur of Emrys, all-powerful magic made into the form of a man, the son of the Triple Goddess sent to the mortal plane to complete the Once and Future and guide him towards his destiny.
And just like that, Arthur's whole life changed.
The thing you have to understand about this Arthur is that he is very lonely. He has friends, people he trusts, but he's never been able to have a friend that sees Arthur instead of the prince or king. But the prophecy, according to the druids, says that Emrys would see beyond his titles and have a connection to Arthur, not the king. That Emrys would complete him in a way that he'd never fully comprehend.
They also describe Emrys's godly abilities, far beyond anything a mortal sorcerer could ever hope to achieve. He could command the elements of nature, the powers of all the world arose at his call, and time itself bowed to his command.
(And this all sounded very appealing to a repressed Arthur. Soon, Arthur's pleasant dreams started to feature a powerful cloaked figure bringing Arthur to heel, just as he had brought all the powers of magic under his control.)
So, Arthur eagerly awaits Emrys for years, waiting for the day that he meets his other half of the coin and the golden age can finally begin.
The druids, some of whom now stayed permanently in the castle to help Arthur with matters concerning magic until Emrys arrived to take over that role, told Arthur that they could sense when Emrys was nearby, and that they would alert him if they felt Emrys's presence in Camelot.
So, Arthur waits, and waits, and waits, never once giving up hope of meeting his destined other half.
He waits, until one day, the druid elders calmly announce at court that the day has come. Emrys had arrived at the gates of Camelot.
And Arthur's heart nearly leapt out of his chest with excitement. He was here! At long last, his life would be complete and he would become the great king his people deserved!
Arthur rushed to call for the entire court to assemble in the courtyard, ready to welcome Emrys with fanfare, and he sent word to the servants and cooks to prepare a celebratory feast as soon as they could. He needed to make a good first impression on his "other half of the coin" after all!
Arthur, not for the first time, wondered what Emrys would look like when he arrived. The druids didn't have a physical description for him, since his unimaginable powers gave him the ability to change his appearance at will. Perhaps he would look like a druid himself, or would he take on a more noble appearance, befitting of his status? Would he teleport himself into the courtyard with flair, or perhaps he would ride in on the back of a magic beast, like a dragon or unicorn!
Between all of the rush to prepare the castle for Emrys's grand arrival, Arthur forgot all about a skinny peasant boy accidentally bumping into him. The boy had apologized and asked politely where he could find Gaius's chambers. Arthur had looked at him oddly, since that was a rather large breach of decorum to ask the king such a trivial question, but Arthur simply brushed it off and pointed the young man in the right direction.
Finally, after everything was prepared, Arthur stood outside on the steps of the castle with his entire court behind him, straining his eyes at the gate for any sign of movement.
And he waited, and waited, and waited. But there was still no powerful warlock coming through the gates.
Finally, he turned to the druid elder next to him and asked, "Where is he? I thought you said he was in the city!"
The druid responded patiently, "He is, my lord. He might be in a disguise though, as to avoid attention. It is known that Lord Emrys is rather humble."
Arthur grumbled about prophesized warlocks never arriving on time and dismissed his court to attend the feast, hoping that perhaps Emrys would make himself known there, in a less public space.
The feast in its own right was a splendid time, with fresh food, fine wine, and even an famous songstress brought in for entertainment. However, as the night went on and the chair to Arthur's right remained empty, his mood soured. Emrys was supposed to be here, by his side, so where was he?!
Arthur was so caught up in his thoughts that he almost missed the moment when the singer's voice became threatening, her song became sinister, and an unnatural stillness came over everyone in attendance.
Arthur watched with barely-open eyes as the sorceress unsheathed a dagger and took aim and his chest, a vengeful smile on her face.
He could barely breathe as the dagger flew, his death drawing closer and closer until...
Until the blade stopped in mid-air, frozen by magic. Arthur's breath hitched. Could it be?
Arthur felt himself be pulled out of his chair, and the dagger hit the back of it, right where his chest had been moments before. The sorceress turned to where Arthur and his savior had landed with a furious expression, but before she could even take a step towards them, the chain holding the chandelier above her, which had never shown any signs of rust or damage, snapped, landing directly on top of the witch with a loud crash.
With the witch now dead, her spell was lifted, and Arthur scrambled to his feet the second that his limbs no longer felt like they were made out of solid lead. With his heart hammering in his chest, he turned around to face the sorcerer who had stopped time itself to save him.
This was Emrys, right behind him, and all of a sudden, Arthur wasn't quite sure what to expect.
Arthur turned and gazed down at the man still sprawled out on the floor, his arm outstretched to where the chandelier had been hanging. His eyes flickered wildly over his form, unsure of what details to take in first.
When his mind was finally calm enough to catch up to what his eyes were seeing, his thoughts came to a screeching halt. Because this man was certainly Emrys, and he had certainly been in the castle today. Arthur had seen him after all.
He was the peasant boy, from before. He had indeed snuck into the castle under a disguise to avoid suspicion, and had tested Arthur's heart, just as the druids said that he would. Any other king would have ignored a peasant asking for directions, or would even had them punished for such disrespect towards royalty. But Arthur had stopped to help him, and he must have passed Emrys's test, because he had saved Arthur from the witch's dagger with his own two hands.
Arthur's didn't know how much time passed as he and Emrys looked at each other, both of them staring with wide eyes.
Finally, after what felt like hours of silence, Emrys climbed to his feet and looked around the room with wide eyes, taking in the shocked and awed stares of everyone in the court.
Looking back at everyone with matching shock, Emrys stuttered out "I'll, uh, be going now. I, um, hope you all enjoy the rest of your feast," and ran off before Arthur's mind could come up with some kind of response, weaving in between shocked lords and bowing druids.
After Emrys had left the room, all eyes turned to Arthur, who took a moment to calm his breathing and his racing thoughts.
"It seems that Emrys has truly arrived in Camelot at last! Since this feast was interrupted, let's postpone the festivities to tomorrow, when Emrys can truly be in attendance."
That seemed to bring the court back to reality, and they slowly began to make their way out of the feasting hall, moving slowly so that everyone could talk amongst one another about Emrys's sudden appearance.
As soon as the last of the courtiers had left the hall, Arthur sprinted out of the room, running to his own chambers as fast as his feet would carry him. He only stopped briefly to breathlessly ask one of the druid elders to pass along a message to Emrys, inviting him for a private meeting with a king later that evening.
Racing back to his own rooms, Arthur was beyond glad to find them spotless. His chamber servants would get a raise after this, they had outdone themselves this time. Everything was perfect, his rooms free of any dirt, his desk immaculate, his furniture exactly where it was supposed to be, and his bed made.
Arthur anxiously paced around his own rooms, worrying about what Emrys already thought of him. Had he been too dismissive during their first encounter? Was he disappointed that Arthur could not recognize him, the other half of his soul, through his peasant disguise?
Finally, there was a soft knock at Arthur's door. Taking a deep breath, Arthur called out, "You may enter," in a deceptively steady voice.
The door opened slowly, revealing a now-familiar face in the doorway. Arthur's breathing sped up as Emrys slowly stepped into his rooms and closed the door behind him.
"You- you wanted to see me?"
"Of course! I apologize for not recognizing you when we first met, but I did not expect you to come in such a disguise. Now that we are alone though, you can drop your magical glamour and reveal your true face. You do not need to hide anything form me, I promise."
But Emrys simply looked at him, blinking with confusion.
"I... appreciate that, but what are you talking about? What glamour?"
"The illusion that makes you appear like," Arthur waved his hand at Emrys's peasant garb, "this. You can freely show you true splendor here!"
Again, Emrys looked at him with nothing but confusion.
"But... but this is what I look like. I'm not using any sort illusion right now."
A beat of silence. Then, one dumbfounded word escaped Arthur's mouth.
"What?"
