be mindful of why you're on tumblr to read fanfics readers, u see how i don't post hateful comments on other writers' works, cause that's very inconsiderate and not cutesy. instead, if i don't like the fic i simply stop reading it and move on to read another fic that i'll like, very demure, very respectful, very approachable. let's be mindful 🙄

Hey everyone Xena here and this is My writing info page/post
This has all the important stuff on who I write for what I will write and what I will not write, and yes requests are open but i do ask that you understand that i will take my time when filling requests so that i do not get overwhelmed
When you make a request if a gender is not specified like male reader or female reader then I will just write the reader as gender-neutral also if pronouns are not specified then I will write that they use they/them pronouns
Also when it comes to requests there is no limit on how many requests a individual person can make at a time all I ask is that you understand that it might take me a little bit to get to each individual request and write something for it but there are no limits so request away I actually really like getting requests and I try to fulfill them to the best of my abilities
a request that includes a prompt is really helpful but not completely necessary
Now on to all the other info

What I will write:

AU's

What I will not write:
Dub-con or non-con(no, just no)
Knife play or anything involving a sharp object in that type of setting really
Yandere(I have nothing against this I actually do like a good yandere fanfic but I personally just don't think I would be good at writing them)

Mother Knows Best
Summery: Sesshomaru eventually has a talk with his mother
Words: 3,728
<- Previous Next ->
She had retired to bed early to rest her old and weary bones—or at least that's what the maid had informed Sesshomaru when he went searching for her. He had to suppress a derisive snort upon hearing this. There was absolutely nothing old or weary about his mother. No, it was glaringly obvious that she had anticipated his seeking her out and had thus strategically retreated to her chambers early to evade him. This maneuver made it abundantly clear that she had meticulously planned this entire scenario and was undoubtedly scheming something, though the exact nature of her plot remained elusive to him. Surely, it couldn't be solely because she desired Inuyasha to be raised within the confines of Sesshomaru's home. No, his mother must have some other, more intricate game afoot.
Very well, if his mother was intent on avoiding a confrontation, then he would retire to his own chambers to rest and address the matter with her come morning. Upon entering the rooms he shared with his mate, he was relieved to discover that there were no traces of his little brother—neither scent nor any other evidence—to be found within. It appeared that Gindaya and his mother had not completely abandoned all semblance of common sense just yet. Sesshomaru exhaled deeply as he prepared himself for bed and reclined. The impending conversation with his mother in the morning would either yield fruitful results or inflict upon him yet another splitting headache, but that was a concern to be dealt with at dawn's first light. Sesshomaru closed his eyes and, much to his own surprise, swiftly drifted into slumber.
Humming. The soft, melodious sound of someone humming permeated his room. Sesshomaru's brows furrowed in confusion. He couldn't have been asleep for long, so why was there humming in his chambers? As his eyelids fluttered open, he was greeted by the gentle rays of sunlight filtering into the room. Perhaps more time had passed than he had initially thought, and morning had already arrived. With the slightest turn of his head, he was able to pinpoint the source of the harmonious humming. Gindaya was perched elegantly before a mirror, humming a soothing tune while meticulously running a comb through her lustrous black tresses. Her warm brown eyes caught his golden ones in the mirror's reflection. The stoic expression she had worn the previous day had been replaced by a soft, inviting smile. The subtle red hues that her brown eyes carried were more pronounced in the early morning light, giving them an almost ethereal quality.
With graceful movements, she gently set the comb down and rose, making her way towards him. She lightly lay down beside him, her head close to his, her smile never wavering as she gazed at him. "Did you sleep well?" she inquired, her voice as soft as a whisper with a hint of playful amusement dancing in her tone.
"Are you no longer cross with me?" Sesshomaru countered, deliberately avoiding her question. Given the early hour and the tranquil atmosphere, he decided it wouldn't be detrimental to momentarily set aside his usual formality and address her in the familiar manner of their childhood days. He could indulge her, if only for a brief moment.
"I was not cross with you. I was merely exasperated by your attitude," Gindaya replied, sitting up and glancing over her shoulder at him, her long, silky hair cascading down her back like a midnight waterfall.
Well, so much for his attempt at indulgence. "This Sesshomaru does not possess an attitude," he stated firmly as he sat up, reaching out to grasp her arm and pull her back towards him, positioning her so that she was now leaning against his chest.
"Seriously, you have such a pronounced attitude. That's precisely why people tend to avoid you," Gindaya remarked, settling her weight against him and tilting her head up to meet his eyes once more, her smile unwavering and tinged with affectionate amusement.
Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at her bold assertion. "Is that so? This one was under the impression that it was due to their fear of this Sesshomaru's formidable power."
Sesshomaru observed with a mixture of satisfaction and amusement as she groaned dramatically and lightly bumped her head against his shoulder. "Please, cease speaking in that manner. It's just the two of us here," she implored, her head still resting on his shoulder.
"Does it truly vex you to such an extent?" He couldn't quite conceal the note of amusement in his voice as he gazed down at her.
She lifted her head and fixed him with a blank stare that spoke volumes. "You know full well that it does. You never employed such speech patterns when we were children. From where did you acquire this peculiar habit? Because I can say with certainty that it was neither from your mother nor your father," Gindaya remarked, punctuating her words by lightly tapping the tip of his nose with her finger.
"The origin of this manner of speech is inconsequential," he replied dismissively as she pulled away from him and rose to her feet.
"Very well, I'll let it go for now, but mark my words—I will uncover the truth someday," she declared, leaning down to place a tender kiss on his cheek, a mischievous grin playing on her lips. "Oh, and your mother requested that I inform you—if you wish to discuss matters with her, she'll be waiting in the gardens at noon. She suggested you could converse over tea."
Sesshomaru snorted softly. He should have anticipated that she had been dispatched to relay a message from his mother. As he stood, he approached her and placed a gentle kiss atop her head. He couldn't help but notice how her playful grin had transformed into a soft, contented smile at his gesture.
"Shall we partake in breakfast?" he inquired, beginning to dress for the day ahead.
"I've already had breakfast with your mother this morning," she responded, turning to face him with a look that silently beseeched him. "Sesshomaru, I implore you to approach the situation with an open mind."
He regarded her for a moment before turning to leave. "I have matters to attend to before my discussion with mother."
As he departed, Gindaya's lips curved into a hopeful smile. He hadn't outright refused. He hadn't even shown signs of irritation. That, in itself, was a promising indication. She exited the room, turning in the opposite direction from her mate, making a conscious effort not to rush or appear too eager as she made her way to her mother-in-law. Upon reaching the gardens, she settled into a seat beside Inukimi. The morning was pleasantly mild, and Suki had been entrusted with the task of crafting new attire for Inuyasha. The young hanyō had grown sufficiently comfortable with her presence. Once the clothes were completed, Suki would bring him to the gardens to play. Not that the kitsune harbored any objections—she, too, had succumbed to Inuyasha's irresistible charm and endearing nature.
"So," Inukimi finally spoke, delicately setting down her ornate cup of tea to gaze intently at the hanyō seated beside her, her golden eyes gleaming with curiosity, "did my son express any grievances or misgivings?"
Gindaya's melodious laughter filled the air, a stark contrast to the seriousness of the situation. "Astonishingly, no. I suspect that perhaps he has already come to terms with the inevitability of his circumstances. It's as if he's silently acknowledged that this particular battle is one he cannot emerge victorious from."
Inukimi hummed thoughtfully, a knowing smile playing at the corners of her lips as she nodded. "Perhaps. Or perchance, awakening to the presence of a captivating young beauty was simply enough to momentarily pacify his tumultuous emotions." She paused to take a deliberate sip of her fragrant tea, savoring its rich aroma. As she lowered the cup, she noticed a shadow of melancholy pass over Gindaya's features. "You're reminiscing about her, aren't you?" Gindaya inquired, her voice barely above a whisper.
Inukimi turned her head, her gaze distant as if looking into the past. "I miss them both profoundly," she admitted, her voice tinged with a hint of sorrow. "But I've already traversed the long and arduous path of mourning."
Gindaya nodded solemnly, her own eyes reflecting a deep understanding. "And yet," she mused, "no matter how much time we dedicate to mourning, it never truly feels sufficient. The void left behind by those we've lost seems to persist, regardless of our efforts to fill it."
Inukimi gently placed her tea down, adjusting her posture with graceful movements to face Gindaya more directly. Her eyes, filled with compassion and wisdom, searched Gindaya's face. "You speak of your mother, don't you?" she asked, her voice soft and understanding.
Gindaya looked up, meeting Inukimi's gaze with a mixture of vulnerability and strength. "Yes," she confirmed, her voice barely audible.
With a gesture of both comfort and respect, Inukimi handed Gindaya a freshly poured cup of tea. "She was truly a remarkable woman," Inukimi stated, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "You should take immense pride in being a part of her legacy, in carrying forward her strength and compassion."
Gindaya's laughter, though tinged with sadness, rang out softly as she accepted the tea. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "It's true, isn't it? Losing anyone, regardless of who they are or what they mean to us, leaves an indelible mark on our hearts."
Inukimi nodded sagely, her eyes reflecting centuries of wisdom and experience. "Indeed. And it's precisely this shared experience of loss that prompted your swift agreement to care for Inuyasha, is it not? Having experienced the profound absence of a mother yourself, you possess a unique understanding of the emotional turmoil he's enduring. Your empathy for his situation runs deep."
A small, bittersweet smile graced Gindaya's lips as she nodded in agreement. "That's certainly a significant part of it," she admitted. "But there's more to it than just that. I find myself utterly incapable of turning away any child in need, regardless of their origins or nature. It's as if my heart won't allow me to ignore their plight."
Inukimi's eyes shone with unmistakable pride as she listened to Gindaya's words. "Good," she said, her voice filled with approval and a hint of maternal affection. "Hold fast to that wellspring of compassion within you. Nurture it, for it will serve as your greatest strength in the challenging years that lie ahead."
Gindaya's expression shifted to one of curiosity mixed with a touch of apprehension. She looked at Inukimi questioningly, sensing a deeper meaning behind her words. Nevertheless, she nodded in acknowledgment, silently vowing to heed the advice.
As the morning progressed, the sun climbed higher in the sky, and before long, the appointed hour of noon arrived. With it came the moment for Inuyasha to be formally introduced to the rest of Gindaya's close-knit group: Rie, a male inu yōkai distinguished by the striking sun symbol adorning his forehead; Toma, a robust male ōkami yōkai with piercing eyes; Akira, a lithe and graceful female ōkami yōkai; and Haruka, an agile leopard cat yōkai with. Initially, Inuyasha's demeanor was one of trepidation and nervousness, his small form tense as he found himself surrounded by so many unfamiliar demons. However, the atmosphere quickly shifted as the group, led by the ever-cheerful Gindaya and the kind-hearted Suki, invited him to join in their playful activities in the lush gardens. It didn't take long for Inuyasha's initial reservations to melt away, replaced by the joyous laughter and carefree spirit of a child at play.
And that is how Sesshomaru discovered the scene: his mother, Lady Inukimi, elegantly seated beneath the dappled shade of an ancient tree, a delicate cup of steaming tea cradled in her graceful hands. Meanwhile, his mate Gindaya, along with her loyal retainers and the esteemed Prince Rie, were engrossed in a spirited game of chess with young Inuyasha. The hanyō's silver hair glinted in the sunlight as he pondered his next move, his face scrunched in concentration. Sesshomaru's golden eyes swept over the gathering, his expression unreadable as he strode purposefully past the lively group, making his way directly to his mother's side.
"Sesshomaru," Inukimi's melodious voice carried a hint of amusement, "how gracious of you to bestow upon us the honor of your presence." Her lips curved into a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, a subtle mockery dancing in their depths.
With fluid grace, Sesshomaru lowered himself to sit beside his mother, his voice cool and controlled as he replied, "Mother."
Inukimi's slender fingers wrapped around a second cup of tea, which she extended towards her son. Her light yellow eyes, sharp as ever, fixed upon him with an intensity that spoke volumes. "I would advise against employing that particular tone with me, my son," she cautioned, her voice carrying a steely edge beneath its silken surface.
A barely perceptible sigh escaped Sesshomaru's lips as he accepted the proffered cup, the fragrant steam rising between them. His next words were carefully measured, yet still tinged with a hint of disdain. "For what purpose has that hanyō been brought to our domain?"
The sharp crack of Inukimi's hand connecting with the back of Sesshomaru's head echoed in the garden, causing a momentary lull in the nearby chess game. "You will refrain from referring to your younger brother in such a manner in my presence," she admonished, her voice carrying the weight of maternal authority.
Sesshomaru turned to face his mother, his expression a mixture of surprise and displeasure. The act of physically disciplining him, a habit Inukimi had cultivated during his childhood years, was apparently one she had no intention of abandoning, even now that he had reached adulthood.
Realizing the futility of arguing, Sesshomaru adjusted his approach. "Mother," he began anew, his tone noticeably more respectful, "might I inquire as to the reason for Inuyasha's presence here?"
A look of satisfaction crossed Inukimi's face as she noted the change in her son's demeanor. She took a deliberate sip of her tea before responding, her gaze drifting to where Inuyasha was now chasing after a butterfly, his laughter ringing clear in the air. "Because, Sesshomaru," she said, her voice softening almost imperceptibly, "regardless of your personal feelings on the matter, this is where he belongs."
A low snarl rumbled in Sesshomaru's chest, his composure slipping for a moment. "He and his human mother bear the responsibility for luring Father away from us and ultimately causing his demise."
Once again, Inukimi's hand connected with the back of Sesshomaru's head, though this time with less force. Her eyes, when they met his, were filled with a mixture of sorrow and compassion. "Sesshomaru," she began, her voice gentle yet firm, "you must understand that I held both Izayoi and your father dear to my heart. It is not within me to lay blame for the loss of one upon the other, nor could I ever hold the innocent pup born of their union responsible." She paused, noting the widening of Sesshomaru's eyes as he processed her words. A small laugh, the first to escape her lips since the tragic events that had unfolded, bubbled up. "Your surprise is evident, my son. Did you labor under the misapprehension that I was unaware? That I played no part in their tale? Or perhaps you assumed, given my occasional disparaging remarks about humans, that I harbored hatred for their entire race? Let me assure you, Sesshomaru, that just as not all yōkai are monstrous beings, not all humans are deserving of contempt."
Sesshomaru remained silent, his gaze drifting away from his mother as he found himself lost in contemplation of her revelations. Inukimi's attention returned to Inuyasha, who was now engaged in an impromptu game of tag with Gindaya and the others. "It is natural to feel upset, Sesshomaru," she continued, her voice barely above a whisper, "but it is not acceptable to inflict harm upon others because of those feelings. Inuyasha needs us, and more importantly, your father's legacy requires both of you to carry it forward."
Sesshomaru's eyes flickered towards his mother, taking note of the uncharacteristically soft expression that graced her features as she watched Inuyasha play. "It would appear that you have already reached a decision on this matter, Mother," he observed, his tone carefully neutral.
A smile played at the corners of Inukimi's lips, though her gaze remained fixed on the young hanyō. "Indeed, and so too has your mate. She has grown quite fond of the pup in a remarkably short time."
Following his mother's line of sight, Sesshomaru observed Gindaya as she played with Inuyasha, her laughter ringing out clear and joyous. A realization dawned upon him: his mother's assessment was undoubtedly correct. Which meant that even if he were to go against his mother's wishes and attempt to banish Inuyasha, he would then find himself contending with a deeply displeased, possibly even furious, hanyō mate – a prospect that even he, in all his power, found somewhat daunting.
"Very well," Sesshomaru conceded, his voice carrying a hint of resignation. "This Sesshomaru shall permit Inuyasha to remain and be raised within the confines of this one's home."
Inukimi nodded, a triumphant gleam in her eyes. "I harbored no doubts about your eventual acquiescence when I brought him here," she stated matter-of-factly. "That is precisely why I have already taken the liberty of moving back into the estate."
Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed as he turned to face his mother, who met his gaze with an expression of smug satisfaction. "Surely you didn't entertain the notion that I would absent myself from his life at this crucial juncture?" she queried, her tone laced with amusement. "Come now, Sesshomaru, you ought to know me far better than that by now."
Sesshomaru was about to formulate a response when his train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the appearance of a delicate purple blossom held mere inches from his face. The unexpected offering came from none other than the very subject of their conversation - Inuyasha. The pup stood before him, a mixture of nervousness and determination etched across his features, his small hands trembling slightly as they extended the flower towards his older half-brother. Behind Inuyasha, Gindaya had settled herself on her knees, a warm and encouraging smile gracing her lips as she observed the interaction with keen interest. Inukimi, unable to contain her amusement at the scene unfolding before her, let out a soft giggle into her teacup, her eyes twinkling with mirth. Sesshomaru, momentarily taken aback by this unanticipated gesture, raised a single elegant eyebrow in silent inquiry.
"Yes?" Sesshomaru's voice, though cool and composed as ever, held a hint of curiosity that did not go unnoticed by the adults present.
Inuyasha, summoning all the courage his young heart could muster, lifted his golden eyes to meet Sesshomaru's impassive gaze. With a voice that quavered slightly but grew stronger with each word, he declared, "She said you like these." As if to emphasize his point, the pup raised the flower a little higher, ensuring that Sesshomaru had a clear view of the delicate purple petals.
Inukimi, sensing the importance of the moment, gently nudged Sesshomaru with her arm, a silent prompt to acknowledge the child's gesture. Simultaneously, Gindaya, from her position behind Inuyasha, made a subtle motion with her hand, encouraging Sesshomaru to accept the proffered gift. Heeding their unspoken advice, Sesshomaru slowly extended his hand, his long, elegant fingers carefully plucking the flower from Inuyasha's grasp. With a deliberateness that belied the significance of the act, he examined the blossom, turning it this way and that, before giving a single, solemn nod of approval. Inuyasha, unsure how to interpret this response, furrowed his brow in confusion, his eyes darting between Sesshomaru's stoic face and the encouraging expressions of Gindaya and Inukimi, silently seeking reassurance.
Gindaya, her heart swelling with affection for both brothers, let out a melodious laugh. "That means he liked it," she explained, her voice warm and reassuring. Her words seemed to ease some of the tension from Inuyasha's small frame, though a hint of uncertainty still lingered in his eyes.
Inuyasha nodded slowly, processing this new information about his enigmatic older brother's way of expressing appreciation. His ears twitched slightly, a physical manifestation of his internal struggle to understand the complexities of his new family dynamics.
Sensing an opportunity to further lighten the mood and encourage the budding relationship between the brothers, Inukimi interjected with playful indignation, "Do I not get a flower as well?" Her eyes danced with mischief as she watched Inuyasha's expression transform from confusion to surprise, his eyes widening comically. Without a moment's hesitation, the young hanyō spun on his heel and dashed off into the garden, his silver hair streaming behind him as he embarked on a determined quest to find a suitable blossom for the Lady Mother.
As Inuyasha's small form disappeared among the lush foliage of the garden, Gindaya turned her attention to Sesshomaru. Their eyes met in a moment of silent communication, years of understanding passing between them in that brief exchange. Sesshomaru, his face as impassive as ever, gave a slight but unmistakable nod. "He will stay," he declared, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Gindaya's face lit up with a radiant smile, her eyes shining with love and pride for her mate. "I knew you wouldn't let me down," she said softly, her voice filled with warmth and gratitude. In that moment, as the sun dappled through the leaves above them and the distant sound of Inuyasha's excited exploration echoed in the garden, a new chapter in their family's story began to unfold.

It Is Better To Seek Forgiveness Than Ask For Permission
Summery: Sesshomaru comes home to a unwelcomed scent
Words: 2,283
Next ->
Sesshomaru had just concluded an extensive two-day patrol of the Western Lands' borders, a task of utmost importance for the Lord of the West. His loyal retainer, Jaken, had dutifully accompanied him throughout the journey, ever-present at his side. The patrol had been uneventful, with no significant disturbances or threats detected along the perimeter of Sesshomaru's domain. This lack of noteworthy occurrences meant that Jaken's subsequent reports would be straightforward and concise, a small mercy for the often-overwhelmed imp.
As Sesshomaru gracefully ascended the steps of the engawa, his keen senses suddenly picked up an all-too-familiar and decidedly unwelcome scent. His refined nose wrinkled in obvious distaste, golden eyes narrowing to dangerous slits as an involuntary growl of agitation rumbled deep in his chest. The sudden change in his lord's demeanor did not go unnoticed by the ever-vigilant Jaken, whose bulbous eyes widened with concern, his green brow furrowing deeply.
"Is something amiss, Lord Sesshomaru?" Jaken inquired, his voice tinged with a mixture of nervousness and genuine worry. His question, however, went unanswered as Sesshomaru abruptly pivoted, his long silver hair swaying with the motion as he began to stride purposefully along the engawa, following the source of the offending scent.
"W-wait for me, my Lord!" Jaken's desperate plea echoed in the air, but it fell on deaf ears. Sesshomaru continued his determined march, his stoic expression betraying no acknowledgment of his retainer's words or presence.
As Sesshomaru rounded the corner leading to the gardens at the rear of his ancestral home, the source of the odious scent came into full view—Inuyasha. The sight before him caused Sesshomaru's eyes to narrow even further, his jaw clenching as he fought to suppress another growl of displeasure. There, in the tranquil setting of the garden, sat Inuyasha—a small, round-faced creature with distinctive dog ears perched atop his head. The young hanyō was nestled comfortably in the lap of Sesshomaru's mate, her legs dangling over the edge of the engawa as she attempted to tame Inuyasha's unruly silver mane with a comb. The pup was far from cooperative, kicking his little feet and squirming about, much to the apparent amusement of Sesshomaru's mate, who laughed and giggled at the child's spirited antics.
"If you don't hold still, little one, we'll be here until the stars fade," she said, her voice warm with affection and tinged with amusement. Her attempts to smooth out the tangles in Inuyasha's hair were met with continued resistance from the fidgeting child.
Inuyasha tilted his head back, his large golden eyes—so similar yet so different from Sesshomaru's—looking up at her with a mix of curiosity and mild frustration. "But this place smells funny," he complained, his little nose wrinkling in a manner that, though Sesshomaru would never admit it, mirrored his own earlier expression.
The demoness shook her head, her long black tresses swaying gently with the motion. A soft giggle escaped her lips as she smiled down at the child, her expression radiating warmth and patience. It was clear that since Inuyasha had been placed in her care, she had grown quite fond of the little hanyō; his endearing nature and innocent charm had a way of coaxing smiles from even the most stoic of individuals.
"The scent will remain the same whether we finish now or later," she explained gently, her tone both reassuring and mildly teasing. "Besides, wouldn't you like to explore your new home with a tidy appearance?"
Inuyasha's brow furrowed in deep concentration, as if pondering a matter of great importance. After a moment of serious deliberation—or as serious as a young child could muster—he gave a determined nod. "Okay," he conceded, his voice filled with the gravity only a child could bring to such a simple word. With newfound resolve, he turned to face forward once more, his gaze settling on the serene surface of the small pond that graced the garden.
From his vantage point, Sesshomaru continued to glare at the scene unfolding before him, his golden eyes fixed upon the child as his mate resumed her efforts to tame Inuyasha's wild silver locks. Despite his outward focus on the hanyō, Sesshomaru was acutely aware of his mate's reactions. He suspected—no, he knew—that she was fully cognizant of his presence. The subtle shift in her posture, the almost imperceptible tightening of her shoulders the moment he had rounded the corner, betrayed her awareness.
His suspicions were confirmed when she cast a fleeting glance in his direction, her eyes barely visible through the curtain of ebony hair that partially obscured her face. The brief look spoke volumes—she knew he was there, and she knew he was displeased. Yet, she chose to continue her task, focusing her attention back on the unruly mane before her.
Sesshomaru's glare intensified, a mixture of irritation and something akin to betrayal simmering beneath his stoic exterior. So, she was not only aware of his presence but deliberately choosing to ignore him. The realization stoked the embers of his anger. If she wouldn't address the situation, then he would have to take the initiative. After all, this was his domain, and such matters could not be left unaddressed.
Of course, Sesshomaru's assessment of the situation was accurate. His mate had indeed been aware of his return long before he made his presence known. Their bond, forged through years of companionship, allowed her to sense his approach from afar. Moreover, she had anticipated his reaction to the presence of Inuyasha in their home. One does not share a life with Sesshomaru without developing a keen understanding of his thoughts and reactions, especially when it came to matters concerning his half-brother.
A soft sigh escaped through her nose as she finally looked up, meeting Sesshomaru's intense gaze. He had approached silently, now standing beside her, his tall figure casting a shadow over her and the child in her lap. Inuyasha, sensing the shift in atmosphere, instinctively grabbed onto her arm, his small form trembling slightly with fear. The demoness would never openly admit it, but Sesshomaru's piercing glare sent a shiver of apprehension down her spine as well.
With a grace befitting his noble status, Sesshomaru extended his hand towards her—an offer of assistance that doubled as a clear indication of his desire for a private audience. "This Sesshomaru wishes to speak with you in private," he stated, his voice maintaining its usual calm and collected tone, though an undercurrent of tension was palpable to those who knew him well.
Understanding the gravity of the situation, she nodded in acquiescence. Turning her attention to Inuyasha, she spoke in a soothing tone, "It's alright, dear one. Why don't we have Suki finish combing your hair? She's very gentle and kind." With a reassuring smile, she gestured across the garden to where a Kitsune woman sat beneath a tree, running a comb through her own luxurious tail.
Inuyasha's expression was one of uncertainty, his eyes darting between her and the unfamiliar fox demon. Sensing his hesitation, the black-haired demoness offered him a warm, encouraging smile. "Don't worry, I promise she's very nice. You'll see."
After a moment's consideration, Inuyasha gave a slow nod of agreement. She handed him the ornate comb that had been gifted to him, then called out to the Kitsune, "Suki, would you be so kind as to finish combing Inuyasha's hair for me?"
Suki looked up from her grooming, a friendly smile gracing her features. "Of course, my Lady. It would be my pleasure," she replied, her voice warm and welcoming.
With one last glance at his caretaker, Inuyasha cautiously slid off her lap and made his way towards Suki. The demoness watched with a mixture of pride and concern as the young hanyō approached the Kitsune, noting with relief how he gradually began to relax in Suki's presence.
Satisfied that Inuyasha was in good hands, she turned her attention back to Sesshomaru. Reaching out, she placed her hand in his, allowing him to effortlessly pull her to her feet. Without a word, he led her away from the garden, ensuring they were well out of earshot of both Inuyasha and Suki before addressing the matter at hand.
"Gindaya," Sesshomaru began, his voice low and tinged with a combination of irritation and barely contained anger. The use of her name, rather than an endearment or title, spoke volumes about his current state of mind.
Gindaya, sensing the storm brewing beneath Sesshomaru's calm exterior, gently extricated her hand from his grasp. She raised both hands in a placating gesture, a silent plea for him to hear her out. "Before you say anything—" she began, her tone cautious yet firm.
"Silence," Sesshomaru snapped, his composure slipping as he bared his fangs. He turned to face her fully, his golden eyes blazing with intensity. "You have directly contravened an order from this Sesshomaru, both as the Lord of these lands and as your mate."
A flicker of satisfaction crossed Sesshomaru's features as he noticed the slight twitch of Gindaya's eye. He was well aware of her distaste for his formal manner of speech, which she often described as childish and peculiar. In this moment, he found a perverse pleasure in her discomfort. If he was to be vexed by the situation, then it was only fitting that she share in his irritation.
Gindaya took a deep, steadying breath, her brown eyes meeting Sesshomaru's golden gaze unflinchingly. She moistened her lips, carefully considering her next words. Their long history together had taught them both the importance of choosing one's words wisely in such charged moments.
"While it's true that I expressed a desire to search for Inuyasha upon learning of his mother's passing, I refrained from doing so," Gindaya explained, her tone measured and diplomatic. "I respected your decree that forbade anyone from seeking him out."
Sesshomaru's glare softened marginally at her words, a tacit acknowledgment of her adherence to his command. However, his next question came swiftly and sharply. "Then explain the presence of that... hanyō in this one's home."
Gindaya's eyes flickered with a mix of emotions—hurt, defiance, and a touch of sadness—at Sesshomaru's derogatory reference to Inuyasha. Though she tried to mask it, Sesshomaru caught the almost imperceptible flinch that crossed her features.
"Your mother," Gindaya began, her voice steady despite the tension in the air, "She brought Inuyasha here and entrusted him to my care. Her reasoning was that the child should be raised in his father's home, surrounded by the protection of his pack. She believes it's essential for his survival and well-being."
Sesshomaru, his patience wearing thin, abruptly turned away from Gindaya. He had no desire to continue this conversation or to entertain the notion of Inuyasha's presence in his home. "Remove him from these premises," he commanded, his tone brooking no argument. "I do not want him here."
Gindaya's gaze dropped to the ground, her fingers absently toying with the hem of her kimono—a rare display of nervousness from the usually composed demoness. After a moment of tense silence, she spoke, her voice quiet but resolute. "It's rather ironic, isn't it? Someone who professes such a strong aversion to hanyō, yet willingly took one as a mate without hesitation."
Her words caused Sesshomaru to halt in his tracks. He turned his head, looking back at her over his shoulder, his expression unreadable. "You are different," he stated simply, as if those three words explained everything.
Gindaya lifted her gaze to meet his, a challenge glinting in her brown eyes. "Am I truly? Or is it merely convenient to see me as an exception?" She paused, allowing her words to sink in before continuing. "Your mother remains here if you wish to discuss Inuyasha's situation with her. As for me, I'm going to prepare him for bed."
Sesshomaru turned to face her fully, his mouth opening to speak. "This Sesshomaru—"
"I heard you clearly the first time," Gindaya interjected, her tone firm but not disrespectful. "It's rare that I oppose your wishes, Sesshomaru, but in this matter, I must stand my ground. Inuyasha stays." She turned to leave, but not before adding, "When it comes to the welfare of a child, I would rather seek your forgiveness than ask for permission." With those parting words, she rounded the corner, making her way back to the gardens where Inuyasha awaited.
As Sesshomaru watched her retreating form, a complex mixture of emotions churned within him. It was profoundly frustrating that the very qualities that had drawn him to Gindaya—her compassion, her strength of character, her unwavering sense of right and wrong—were now the source of his current vexation. The irony was not lost on him as he made his way towards his private chambers, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and emotions.
Yet, amidst his irritation and inner turmoil, a seed of doubt had been planted. If Gindaya's account was accurate—and he had no reason to doubt her honesty—then there was only one course of action left to him. With a resigned sigh that no one else would ever hear, Sesshomaru altered his course. It was clear that to fully understand the situation and perhaps find a resolution, he needed to have a long-overdue conversation with his mother.

Bad For You
Warnings: Alternate Universe, Original Female Character, Smoking, No Beta Reader, Light-Hearted
Words: 374
Summery: "Don't be ridiculous. These things are bad for you, you know."
Master List
Spike pats himself down, looking for his cigarettes, and pulls out an empty box. "Bloody hell," Spike mutters angrily as he examines the box before crushing it in his hand and throwing it down on the ground. Mercy, standing nearby, smiles and shakes her head knowingly. She reaches into her jacket pocket and pulls out a box of cigarettes, extracting one and handing it to Spike. Willow, observing the interaction, looks between the two with curiosity and a hint of amusement.
"Oh, do you smoke too?" Willow inquires as she bends down to pick up the empty cigarette box that Spike had discarded. Straightening back up, she tosses it into a nearby trashcan. Spike pauses with the unlit cigarette halfway to his mouth, turning his attention to Willow. With an innocent expression, he places a hand on his hip while waving the unlit cigarette around with the other hand, holding it between two fingers.
"Don't be ridiculous. These things are bad for you, you know. Of course she doesn't smoke," Spike declares with a touch of sarcasm. He then brings the cigarette to his lips as Mercy steps forward with a lighter, igniting the cigarette for him. Spike takes a long drag, savoring the moment, and smirks at Mercy before turning his gaze back to Willow. "And besides, she knows better," he adds confidently. Still smirking, Spike looks back at Mercy.
"Don't you, pet?" he asks teasingly as Mercy puts the lighter back in her pocket and rolls her eyes in mild exasperation. "Whatever you say, Spike. Now come on, Buffy and Marcy need our help," she replies. Mercy gently grabs Willow by the arm and starts walking away with her, guiding her in the direction they need to go. Spike chuckles to himself, taking another drag from his cigarette, and follows them at a leisurely pace.
As they walk, Willow can't help but glance back at Spike, her curiosity piqued by his demeanor. "You know," Willow starts, "I can't quite figure you out, Spike. One moment you're all tough and sarcastic, and the next, you're... well, almost charming."
Spike raises an eyebrow, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Stick around, Red. You might find there's more to me than meets the eye."

Yes, this is so true. I love it when someone interacts with my fics it motivates me to keep writing more
Please don't underestimate the power of engagement and comments on fics.
I've been feeling very poorly recently about my own lack of fanfic engagement. Truth be told, I'm not really the kind of person who writes for myself. If I post something online, I'm hoping for comments! I already know the story in my own head, so writing it is not really as much for me, as it is for others.
Anyways, life has been rough (as it is for everyone) and I decided I was putting down writing for now since it was stressing me out more than anything. And lo and behold, I not only got wonderful comments from a friend, but a random person has gone through and commented something sweet on all my smaller oneshots! 🥺
I'm still taking a break, but such kindness does make me happy I posted them, and want to work on other things (in the future). So please, just be kind, and comment when you can. They are so appreciated by the majority ( though I have heard some authors are mean but no community is full of saints, so I'm sorry about them).
I understand late night reading binges! I do try to go back later and leave something behind but I'm not perfect. We can only do our best. The community is what makes Fandom fun, so let's remember that in the long run ❤
