something about systems that people dont understand is that alters are not the disorder. alters are a RESULT of the disorder. the disorder is the brain not having a solid sense of self because trauma interrupted it. alters are simply a result of this. the dissociation and cptsd are in fact the main thing, and having multiple people in your head is just what sometimes happens because of it.

PUNK PSA:
Please don’t put anything too political on your back patches— especially about your own marginalized experiences.
This has been a long standing rule in punk communities, passed down for generations. People do get jumped and experience violence as a result of this. You can’t see who is behind you, you can’t tell if they’re far right, and you can’t prepare yourself for sudden violence from behind.
So many people are new to the scene, introduced via social media, and don’t know the weight of walking with something on your back (literally and metaphorically) that immediately outs you as marginalized. If you’re able to defend yourself, or out with friends who can watch your back, by all means go for it and wear whatever you want on your back patches but if you walk alone at all ever, please be safe.
Also this is why punks wear spikes and studs on our shoulders especially. Makes it harder for someone to grab you and works as self defense (but also never wear spikes at a small show or if you plan to mosh— people can get hurt!).

I was sent some gaza asks and as u may have seen I responded saying to repost and share. I have since private these posts but have reposted them on a new tumblr blog @free-gaza-saturnsys .
Please could people send any things they want sharing about gaza to this blog instead as I am getting spammed and would like to focus this blog on DID and OSDD content.
Can I also ask that people stop spamming me asking for money or donations as I am unable to give. However I am happy to share and help u reach people who can through @free-gaza-saturnsys blog.

We would give anything for just 5 minutes pain free. It actually kinda annoys me that most people are pain free like 80% of the time, like why do they get that but not me!?!
Every now and again I get reminded that the normal amount of daily pain is zero, and that still blows my mind every time... You have days without pain????

Young people can have back pain. Young people can have joint pain. Young people can require a cane to get around. Young people can have memory problems. Young people can get migraines. Young people can lose their eyesight. Young people can lose their hearing. Young people can lose their teeth and require dentures. Young people can have neurological disorders. Young people can go through menopause. Young people can have heart attacks. Young people can have strokes. Young people can go through all kinds of things you think only happens to older people and they don’t deserve to be invalidated or bullied just because you have never heard of it.

We found hiking canes/sticks are easier to buy as people just assume ur going on a hike. Also decorating our cane made it feel like ours more and helped with the acceptance that we needed it and that it's not just for elderly people.
Looking to buy a cane and I really don't like how mobility aids are always marketed for the elderly, like there's nothing wrong with being old but I'm not old and I need this too. It makes me feel like I'm wrong for needing it and really re-enforces that idea the people my age are "too young" to have problems. I had the same thing when I bought my shower chair also, it's embarrassing and isolating. We need more representation for younger disabled people

Is there/would you ever consider making a browser version of octocon? I wanna try it out but I don't like having to install things
@atlas-oc think this question is for you.
I'm not involved in octocon in any way, I'm just a fan of it and wanted to share info about it.

Octocons recent statement on privacy and their stance on non traumagenic systems posted to discord:
Hi, I'd like to do a bit of clarification here. There's word going around (especially on platforms such as Tumblr and TikTok) that we're "anti-endo" and are going to go on "user crusades" to ban non-traumagenics like certain other SP/PK alternatives did.
**This has not happened and will never happen.**
We consider our community to be *traumacentric*, in the sense that our platform was designed specifically for people with traumagenic/medical DID/OSDD in mind. We explicitly develop our platform to accommodate symptoms such as dissociative amnesia. We are **not** going to stop anyone from using the app or bot, we just ask that our *Discord community* sticks to that theme so we can form a proper support group around that demographic. Going on "endogenic crusades" would be uncouth, childish, against our values, and quite frankly absurd.
**We have a neutral stance on systems not caused by trauma. Our platform just isn't designed for them nor around them.** If you came here with the intention of sparking discourse regarding this subject, please leave.
A part that bothers me in particular is that this also implies that we would violate user privacy (or have *already* violated it, which is even worse). As stated in our [privacy policy](https://octocon.app/docs/platform/privacy), this is also **not** the case. We will **never** look into someone's account unless we are legally forced to do so under U.S. law, or that person volunteers to share some information to help us fix a bug, at which point we will **consensually** collect as little information as possible.
I ask that anyone who notices this kind of rhetoric going around on external platforms help us to clarify any misinformation. It would help lessen our workload immensely so we can focus on developing features, fixing bugs, and stabilizing our community. For those of you I've seen who have already helped with this, **I thank you** from the bottom of my heart.
\- Atlas
(This is copied directly from the discord server, I do not have any claim to this information, I am just sharing it)
Apologies for spreading misinformation about them being anti endo, I had seen it posted everywhere and so believed it, I should have done more in depth research sorry.

What is Disability Pride Month:
Disability Pride Month is celebrated each year in July. Disability Pride initially started as a day of celebration in 1990—the year that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law.
