Remember when you were taught one concept in science and then the next year you were told something different, and you felt really confused and frankly, a bit annoyed? Did the teacher get really fucked off about you not understanding what they were saying when all you wanted to do was understand? That’s the general populace, aka, your typical neurotypical. They are taught subliminally and outright that mental illness or disorders are bad. When they go somewhere like tumblr or the internet, they are told the other side of the story, and they don’t understand. So what happens when they don’t understand? They get attacked, simply for not understanding, re-enforcing the notion that mental illnesses and disorders are bad, but also taking away the idea that it makes you a bad person because the only interaction they have with neurodivergent people is aggression for not instantly sympathising or understanding. The counter to this argument always is: but bigots and people who attack back!? What about them? To which I say, if you read earlier in the post to where I said “the general populace” and made the comparison to school, there are always, ALWAYS,going to be cunts who don’t want to learn, and then try to make it harder for everyone else to learn. So all in all, please be patient with us, I know some of us neurotypicals are cunts, but there’s emphasis on SOME, not ALL. I’m sorry for the past, but can we please try, TRy, to move forward.
