#THE FIRST ASK ABOUT MY FIC STUFF

not to sound absolutely deranged but i have been reading merthur fics (as usual, what i have been doing daily since march) while at work (yes) and the rush of serotonin is just unmatched, i'm giggling and blushing JUST because my blorbos are getting together for the 500th time in a different way

the merthur addiction is going splendidly everyone who knows me is quite done with me

i tried for a well thought out post. instead you get this mess that i’m begging you not to twist:

the outraged cries of “cliques” are people being actual friends with each other. the people complaining about certain blogs or creators being on pedestals are usually the same people putting them there. i’m not one to belittle feelings - i understand where the upset is coming from. i even understand my place in it! but at the end of the day, we’re working ourselves up over what? notes? followers? hits on a fic? things based on luck and timing??

i can only speak for myself, but i work a full time job and i’m hard scheduled 45 hours a week. all of my free time goes towards fic writing, because that’s For Me and that’s what’s important for my mental health, and even then, i am usually too exhausted to do that. i would love to read fic and interact more! my to-read list is a mile long! it is just genuinely hard for me to find the time. i prioritize my friends because they are my friends — real, actual people i know beyond tumblr mutualship, who i talk to about more than just fic writing — and even then i am late getting around to it. i’m not saying this as a “woe is me, my life is hard” moment, but moreso trying to offer a perspective that is not even being thought of. and i get it, no one wants to hear it, because you’re frustrated, and being vocal about frustration feels nice (i know, bc here i am)!!

someone is going to come for my throat for making this post as a “big author” and “part of the clique we’re all vagueing” and maybe it’s juuuuust me but like. if you’re that unhappy, log off. if seeing a friend group you’re not part of interacting makes you unhappy, log off. if seeing the engagement other people get on their posts or fic or art makes you unhappy, log off. you cannot force people to interact with you or your creative work, and aggressively posting about it when they don’t is not inviting them to. i am begging you to stop having expectations of people you do not know, because at the end of the day, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.

Does En have some kind of anxiety disorder? How do you think?

I don't think so. I think he's just faint at heart. I already talked about why he's a product of his time, quick to always run when faced with danger. Rather than anxiety, it's just survival instincts with En

The post in question

He doesn't panic until his life itself is threatened. He let Midoriya run around and do his thing, and whenever he appears as a vestige to advise Midoriya, he's not anxious or anything. He's just telling Midoriya his own limits, which is pretty in-line with how En views himself: he always talks about his limitations as a weak Quirk.

It was just facing AFO and the threat of being stolen we see him lose his cool. AFO probably sparks some bad memories and trauma in En, considering he just turned to run and got sawed in half by the guy that killed his Banjo-senpai (who some vestiges openly admit has a great, really useful Quirk).

If AFO could get Banjo, he could definitely get En, who's weaker than Banjo in. Everything really. Mind, Quirk capability, physical strength, etc.

To reiterate something in the first paragraph: it's not anxiety, it's survival. En's behavior is more like a prey animal than a predator. Even Banjo, when pressed against a wall (they can be stolen), panics.

But other than that, the two are pretty composed and view their Abilities as tools in their arsenal. Banjo views his as good for capture and mobility (both moving around and wrapping himself up), and En uses it to obscure vision and thinks about the cover's use.

Notably, Shinomori didn't panic when he saw AFO's looming hand. The only ones to freak out that AFO could reach them were Banjo and En, two city boys from when society was still ruined and trying to collect itself. The only two active wielders AFO managed to get his hand on to steal OFA. The others aren't as panicked.

idk if this is something im maybe hallucinating or maybe its just the posts that i see occasionally but ifl sometimes its hard for the fandom to let yjh exist outside of kdj?? like i know the whole kdj being the reason for the story and yjh as an extension to exist is a thing but yjh separating himself from the narrative and establishing himself as not just the protagonist but a person is Also a thing and i feel like we don't talk about it as much.

like i dont know man!! maybe this is all in my head but sooo much of the yjh content also doubles as joongdok?? and you KNOW i love good joongdok but where are the character studies. where are the deep dives. where is the acknowledging yjh as an intricately convoluted and complex characters with his own wishes and desires and the way those desires fuel the narrative like goddddd hes SUCH a Character i think we need to discuss it more. anyways hes my fave btw no one gets him like i do

Like yjh becoming a Person is his whole growth??? I haven't been consuming nearly as much orv content, and I'm pretty sure it's for this very reason cause I want more character studies so bad!! Or dynamics with other members of kimcom!!

#10. What's an au you have for them?

Since them meeting at all is technically an AU i have 3 different ways that they do meet up. There's the one where Juniper ends up with the agency/adjacent to and ends up working with Reggie (have written a fic with this). The next one is Juniper surviving but basically going stealth and living as normal of a life as he can and ending up meeting Reggie through chance (most recent fic I've written). And then there's my personal favourite where Reginald "You're lucky my tracking skills are still up to snuff" Crane keeping himself busy after Phoenix was MIA and finding Juniper still alive (fic I want to write but haven't started mainly because it may end up multi chapter).

In terms of more AU canon bending taking them and putting them in a completely unrelated situation...I have a guilty pleasure Warrior Cats AU for IEYTD in general. Both JJ and Reggie have perfect warrior cats suffixes in their names already (Juniper and Crane) so they're called Junipersong (charcoal bengal) and Craneflight (tabby Norwegian forest cat). It's very silly but the amount of scenes I have in my mind for it...good lord...

Augh my friend Imp wrote an absolutely excellent fic about it (tragically in the realm of unfinished Google docs) and I'm shaking their hand about it so hard. Basically Juniper kissing Reggie but he like wasn't ready/fully expecting it and Juniper absolutely panicking because he thinks he's misread every interaction between them both since they got closer. The second one is much sweeter though,,

Alice is the last person anyone would expect to be alone. “I did once, but it didn’t work out,” Alice’s response is light and unexpected, and he immediately freezes. She doesn’t talk much about her life before she met him, and she’s certainly never mentioned any love affairs or a broken heart. “They weren’t interested.” “Oh, Alice,” the pity in Bella’s voice is cloying, and he can feel the embarrassment drift over Alice. “It was a long time ago, Bella. It’s not something that I think about very often. I know that they are safe and happy, and that’s all that really matters in the end.” There is definitely sadness in her voice now, and he wonders who it was. Who turned their back on her and left her alone and unprotected. “But didn’t you see that it wouldn’t work out?” He wants to ask Bella to stop talking, to leave Alice alone, but he is transfixed by this secret side of Alice, this secret history that not even he knew. “I saw us together and happy. And I got impatient, and decided to go to them early. I just wanted to skip to the good part, I guess. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.”

i'd definitely have either a candid or a 0.5 pic of kiryu as my lock screen. but for him (and this is 120% based on a drabble or hc thing that i saw BUT I COULDNT FIND IT AGAIN 😭 BUT IT WAS SO SO CUTE AHH) a candid too and (i think) little hearts on it (IT WAS SO CUTE IM CRYING THAT I CANT FIND IT) so in a way matching cuz we have the most random pics of each other that the other doesn't know about

6. What’s the last line you wrote?

Shaking its head in what seems like disbelief before meeting his eyes again, almost like it wants to say something before it makes a noise like a growl, "oh, you're one of those seraphs, aren't you. A star-eater. No wonder you act like you've lost your mind."

12. Do you outline your fics?  If yes, how detailed are your outlines?  How far do you stray from them?

Oh yes! I outline my fics thoroughly. Though, I do allowed myself to deviate as much from the outline as I feel like when things go off the rails. Some snippets of planning from a couple fics & concepts:

My outlines are very... One for one. With some exceptions. I tend to basically write a very brief version of the fic and try to get the feelings and words right before I actually write it. This is... Also why it can and will take me a month to write a oneshot. I try to get things Right.

30. How much do you edit your fics?  Do you edit as you write or wait until you finish the first draft?

So! I edit them a bit? I edit while I work, but often I don't really touch anything I've already written unless it's something longer that might be taking a few months to get through. I think the fic I've edited the most is the prologue of Artificial Stars, which was originally a quickly written 2k oneshot into about 5k of actually decent fic.

Usually I don't edit to make something shorter/more concise, since I tend to only come up with more ways to bridge concepts when I go back to it. Also to be fair... There's usually no difference between first draft and final product. I cannot be asked to edit my fics after I write them, I just release them to the birds and pray for the best. (Unless I actually decide to show it to my beta reader in full instead of just sharing snippets as I... usually do.)

Conclusion: Rarely, those thangs are being given to the world as-is unless something is horrifically wrong with them

Hiiii omg ok so besides the stuff I've talked about on here before, I've mostly been inspired by songs that I'm listening to lately! Here's a couple:

•one inspired by Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet by Fall Out Boy: where Neil and Kevin have some sort of arranged marriage for Mafia Reasons? It's Fem!Andreil, and in this AU Neil and her mom never left her dad and Neil was essentially betrothed to Kevin for Mafia Alliance reasons. Kevin is a professional exy player and tbh he doesn't really care about Neil at all, he just wants to PLAY. Andrew is Kevin's driver who's in love with Neil and they end up having an ~affair. it's told from Andrew's point of view and she's agonizing over it all when really Kevin and Neil are truly not in love and it's definitely a marriage of convenience bc's Kevin's gay and Neil's NEIL and only has eyes for Andrew. (I think I wanna call it 'Does Your Husband Know?')

•the other one I'm playing with is inspired by I think about you all the time by the Maine and is MUCH less involved lmao. This one's about Andrew and Neil's time apart after Andrew graduates/they're on different pro teams and they have to confront the fact that their something is in fact NOT nothing. Think more rom-com vibes for this one bc I am nothing if not a hopeless romantic. (I wanna call this one 'I Like The Thought (Of You Thinking Of Me)')
