We ARE in a win-win now as a fandom, though, with Joel promising to win for Lizzie and now using a sword made from her diamonds. Like, the angst if he fails now? If he sends his wife off to die, is the only one to grieve her, swears to win for her (if only to make anyone besides him remember her), and then can't do it? That's genuinely prime angst material. And then if he DOES win in his wife's honor using a sword made from the diamonds she left, we get to play both with that inevitable survivors guilt, the loss of purpose at the end, and with the post-death glory that would bring the player out of the season first (with only one person to grieve her). I'm so normal about it, guys, I don't care if Joel wins, WE win here.
