I wish he wasn't a villain in the games- or at least, wasn't portrayed as such. Now, I grew up around 4Kids TV still being an active site on the internet, so my first introduction to Meta Knight- let alone the Kirby franchise- was the English dubbed anime, wherein Meta Knight is not so much a villain as he is... Morally gray.

He was a character who worked for triple D, but had his own motives- and his history (up until Wolfwrath's episode) was unknown. So... I kind of came to view him as a knight in shining armor (as a small girl who saw that kind of stuff was oft to do). This is why, in my portrayal, while I do incorporate some game canon every here and there, I never let him get portrayed as doing something for simple self-interest/greed-- instead making it so it's either some evil doppleganger, or Meta Knight testing Kirby, or him getting taken over by some villainous thing.

Of the few Kirby games I do own, the one I look towards when I write his combat scenes and powers is actually Kirby Super Star Ultra for the DS, specifically 'Meta Knightmare'. It's also a light inspiration for me when it comes to thinking about some of the game canons if MK was less... Villain, and more hero. Of course, I've only played Squeak Squad, Super Star Ultra, Star Allies, and (still working through this one) Forgotten Land,-- so I don't know how MK is portrayed in any of the other games. I like to think that his attacks when he's evil in Star Allies are him going all-out/without restraint, so attacks he'd do if he was low on health/ready to die or something, and wanting to give his friends a chance to bring down a big boss.

As it should be noticeable, I do write MK as thinking monsters are no worse than cappies or star warriors- in that the more sentient/less live-stock minded ones are capable of moral change or being brought to the good side. If you can't see this in the fact that my Kirby-Universe!SI is literally a monster from Nightmare Enterprises and yet they're dating MK, then-- uh-- mate I've got NEWS.

Personality

Personality wise, Kaze is similar to most Tengus, specifically those of the more noble variety. He is a monster that prefers solitude, however that does not stop him from helping others and being a valiant defender of the weak. He has a strong sense of justice and will not hesitate to lay the pain on those who prey of the defenseless. He is always persistent in seeing that those who commit wrongdoings get their just desserts.

Unfortunately, Kaze can be rigid and stubborn about justice and morality. Like Kristal, he has a sort of black-and-white view about what's right and what's wrong. Kaze is also unpredictable, almost savage when angered. He is also secretly insecure about his long nose. Kaze can be a bit oblivious towards feelings of romance, such as Naomi's crush on him. 

Trivia/Additional Information

His first name "Kaze" can be translated to "Wind" in English. His last name is translated as "Tornado" in English. His name thus means "Wind Tornado"

Kaze's headcanon voice actor is Stephen Fu, who voiced Ninja Cookie in Cookie Run Kingdom.

His pet's name; Raijin, comes from the Japanese god of the wind of the same name.

Kaze's personality was based on Meta Knight from the Kirby series.

He is a closeted comic book fan.

Kaze's birthday is August 3rd, which is the day the Numata Tengu festival begins. This makes him a Leo.

especially in ships! it's fine to make him nice and kind and softer to his lover, I mean, that's unavoidable. but I have seen many people headcanon meta knight as transgender, and it kind of goes from there like.... "tough mysterious person that softens up when having a lover" is nice, honest, but I have seen some bringing it to the "trans uwu soft babey that's harmless and can't fight at all without his lover".

he is a KNIGHT, for crying out loud! it's literally in his name!! he can very well defend himself and fight! hell he even defeated galacta knight, who has been imprisoned for his great strength. so there's that for "defenseless little orb" headcanons.

so you may want to know what i'm trying to point out here. I seriously didn't want to use this word, but that's infantilising trans people. and tough characters too. i promise, i'm all for trans headcanons, I myself fall under the transgender umbrella. but if it makes you baby characters, don't.

In the Game of Thrones verse? I’vemeant to write a meta about anybody who’d want to RP Bryn’s child, so, here wego!

Lizzy would have ended up abastard, never legitimized, and been taught by Maesters for the first few yearsof her life. Brynden had a lot of duties to attend to as: Knight of the Gate(or Knight of the Bloody Gate) in The Eyrie, so he’d probably use that as anexcuse… Even though he hates that kind of behavior. Add in the fact that she’sa little girl, and he doubly wouldn’tknow what in the seven hells he’s doing.

That’s not to say Brynden would bea bad father, or that he wouldn’t make time for her. Just that he wouldn’t knowhow to handle her. At first… Taking advice from Cat and others would improvehis stance as a father. He’s never lived up to: Family, Duty, Honor, and that weighs on him. Being TheBlackfish has left him self-conscious of his ability to be anything other thanwhat he is… The outcast. So in the circumstance of a bastard child, it sitseven less well with him, even though his interactions with Cat, Petyr, Lysa,and Edmure prove that he could make a fantasticfather.

Now… He has to do it as a singlefather. He’d worry over the lack of a mother’s presence, and how it wouldaffect her. How would he tackle her teenage years without the helpful insightof a woman? He’d be even more afraid over what he’d do in her later years,wondering what he’d do when she fell in love. What would be a good match forher? Would she even receive suitors? What if she wanted to marry a man who wasn’tright for her?

Also, in my mind, she’d be a ‘Flowers’,the bastard name of those born in The Reach… So that would lead to some nastyrumors that he’d have to put down. He’d more than likely pretend her mother wasn’ta noblewoman, keeping it a secret from even her for years. Eventually, if sheasked, he would tell her.

If his daughter showed an interestin learning to fight? He’d teach her. He’d be relieved that his child wouldwant to learn how to defend herself. Remember when Cat handled a knife againstPetyr in the show? Or how she fought against the man who came into Bran’s roomto kill him (we could say this was a mother’s love, but…)? I imagine Bryndentaught her a few tricks, because he would never want anyone – male or female – thathe gave two shits about, to not knowhow to defend themselves. He would neverhave a defenseless child.

If she was his niece? He’d try toprotect her as much as possible, be the patient ear to listen, or the kindwords of wisdom she’d need – just as he did with Cat, Petyr, Lysa, and Edmure.

The Great Meta Scavenger Hunt: Round 5 - IT WAS ALL A DREAM?!

[ridiculously belated entry d/t bad time management, and rl dystopianism. but mostly bad time management. I’d say ‘here, hold my tea’ but it’s gone cold and ugly and it’d be better to just dump it out. er.

Everything after Sam jumps into the cage in Swan Song is Sam dreaming in the cage.

The show starts with Sam trying very hard to escape his itinerant laborer roots, climbing the ladder, reaching to grasp the law-school rung... and Dean, like a crab in a bucket, grabbing Sam by the leg and dragging him back down into the scrum.

Over the first five seasons, though, the Winchesters discover that they are of the bloodlines of angelic vessels. Archangelic vessels. Specially prophesied archangelic vessels. Their very existence was specially ordained of God. And that re-casts the Winchester childhood from ordinary impoverishment into the preamble to a fairy tale. Gotta start off a poor man’s foster-child if you’re going to end up a prince.

(Dean was always onto that - far as he was concerned, the Winchesters were always special, superheroes, knights-errant defending the defenseless from peril. When John & Dean ‘protected’ tiny Sam from the supernatural, they prevented tiny Sam from developing the feeling that he was that kind of special.)

Sam dives into the cage and into this dream.

Almost the first thing his subconscious does is up the ante on this inherited nobility bit. His grandfather (and namesake) wasn’t just some hunter. His grandfather was hunting royalty. The Samuel Campbell Sam makes in his dream is a resurrected Warrior King. (And eligible for the Mayflower Society, which is super-hilarious.) But Sam never did like hunting. He can’t reconcile himself - his whole self - to the society of warrior kings. When he’s with the dreamed-up Campbells, Sam is a soulless robot going through the motions. The hunter clan, the family he’s supposed to want, proves weak and corrupt. They fall away one by one.

Sam re-integrates his dream-self into a tattered sort of whole.

Next Sam’s subconscious conjures up Henry Winchester. This newly-fabricated grandfather tells the boys that they are legacies of a secret knowledge-collecting society. Sam and Dean are the heirs to this time-traveling Philosopher King, and he sets them on the quest which leads them to their ancestral Bat Cave/ castle/ Hunter Barbie Dreamhouse. Sam finally gets a permanent room of his own with a lock on the door, plus an attached library, garage, dungeon, etc. Those philosopher kings had every material thing Sam and Dean could wish for. (Plus! a near-total lack of living MoL, so they can’t disappoint or betray the way the Campbells did.)

Class is complicated. It’s a tangled mess of money and status markers and (sometimes, some places) who your parents were.

Sam wanted a life better than homelessness and poverty, so he spent his childhood and youth working to make a leap to the bourgeoisie. On the cusp of adulthood, Sam is informed that he’s not meant for the bourgeoisie - not because he’s not good enough for the middle class, but because he’s too good. His blood has destined him for yet-higher things. As a pawn, but still. Higher things.

In his afterlife, he’s dreamed himself into a scion of three different strains of hereditary nobility. He and his brother unite in their persons warrior kings, philosopher kings, and divine right. They fight and win against gods, primordial monsters, forces of nature, all comers. They walk the earth helping people and have a secure home to return to. This dream of Sam’s has turned himself and Dean into kings under the hill. At the end of season 11, God himself gives the world into Sam and Dean’s keeping.

So it makes sense, Sam telling Mary he didn’t want out of the life. He and Dean are the princes of the damn universe. No further class-climbing is necessary, or even possible.

🌹 What is their favorite childhood memory? For Meta Knight and Rouge

He was so young, so rambunctious- it was his first play ever, freshly debuted. Onstage, the actors for the scene were practically yelling their lines- a feud that roared to life with all their skill. Meta was backstage, fighting off noogies from his mother while he and the others played out the scene onstage, to a much more comedic degree. None of them could really 'speak' for fear of their equipment catching their words, but it was funny all the same- hushed laughter and muted claps.

It was a culmination of effort- a full year in the making to craft this story, and the audience would never know how much the actors were laughing and goofing off behind the scenes... Not until the curtains would be inevitably drawn, the lights inevitably shut off.

"SCOUNDREL!" He'd rushed out, fake sword flashing in the limelight. This was his moment- to play his part.

He'd fallen flat on his face.

Looking back on it, it was truly hilarious- even to this day. But in the moment, it had felt so embarrassing. He found himself chuckling softly.

She had snuck out. The night air tickled her ears as she soared from the home that held her prisoner, the parents that held her captive. It was their own lessons that led to her rise- having picked the lock and snuck past their bedroom. Now here she was, free in the air, wings nearly glittering against a starry sky.

It didn't take long for her to find civilization, touching down just outside a local mall. Rouge spread her arms, stretching but for a moment before sashaying forward. She was done letting her parents rule her life-- and this night, this moment, marked her leaving their hold.

They could teach her all she wanted, try to force her to be the thief they desired- but like any good thief, she wasn't going to listen. No, no...

She was going to do things HER way.

Given how little trust Naida will have in the land, I can see MK trying to show her that it's not all evil and murderous- possibly by taking her to calmer locations around Dreamland (Prism Plains, Cocoa Cave, Whispy Woods, Donut Dome)... At least, locations he considers calm. He's trying.

This was more of an in-my-head thing, but feel free to call it canon or ask me to back off- but I have this idea in my head that Rouge and Peach originally met one of the times that Peach was kidnapped by Bowser, and Rouge helped the princess free herself.-- Of course, Rouge was there to steal some stuff from Bowser (which she did), but she wasn't about to let a fellow gal pal down!

The two have been on semi-friendly terms ever since (this event happened at least a year or so prior to our current thread), with Peach learning a few tricks about escaping traps from Rouge, while Rouge found (finally) a lady she could behave a bit more proper around and not be considered stuck-up.

It doesn’t particularly come up much, but in my mind, Meta Knight has a very faint transformation ability- but it’s only around his wings. I like to headcanon that his cape actually is his wings, in a more ‘people-friendly’ form. Of course, he can’t feel anything from them while they’re in this state, and often, he gets concerned about ripping one while walking (since that rip WILL translate over when he transforms the cape back into his wings).

It probably doesn’t help matters in the slightest that I like to think of the inside of his wings as incredibly sensitive, so if they were to tear while in cape-form on the interior... Stars above would it suck when he transformed them back. ‘Course, MK’s a knight, so no one would hear jack-diddly-squat... Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t hurt.

Headcanons - MK’s Dedede

So, the reason as for why I wrote my Meta Knight as having ‘King Dedede’ on his dislikes list!

In the universe I built for Meta Knight, my Dedede is not redeemable. At times, he acts good- but at his core, he’s a villain. He’s out for his own desires/survival, and no one else’s. MK has experienced this first-hand for a number of years, and after giving the king many (and I do mean many) opportunities to do the right thing... He’s given up on the guy. While MK believes there’s a capacity for good in many, he does view some as beyond hope- and his Dedede is beyond hope (which will change if I ever write the finale/make the finale of the anime a part of MK’s backstory, which I have yet to do).

This isn’t to say that MK views all Dededes in this light. Since he’s aware of the multiverse (as all of my muses are, to one extent or another), he knows there are chances that good Dededes are out there. While he won’t admit it, though, he does have a bias, and naturally views Dededes in a bad light.

Maybe he’ll overcome that, someday....

Shade loves buffalo chicken sauces- but she's not a big fan of most other spicy sauces. If she went to Buffalo Wild Wings, she'd absolutely get the buffalo chicken sauce on all her wings (bone-in, of course).

Arwen actually knows how to forge/make shovels on the fly (via Chaos Energy/Chaos Magic), and has done so before. However, her favorite shovels to use with her bow are ones that have been enchanted by Lyle beforehand- mainly because she likes seeing the battlefield suddenly explode with a Chaos-Energy fueled spell.

Since I haven't done anything MK-related in ages.... While Meta Knight does attack eNeMeE's monsters in an effort to destroy them, usually he'll leave said monsters alone if he truly believes they mean no harm.... Which isn't all that often, but still.

yooo Writer and Meta Knight, same thing w/ Writer and Herobrine!

Writer and MK probably would adopt a coyote-esque monster, one rejected by Nightmare Enterprises due to failure in combat at a young age. I'm thinking like this, but possibly with a mix of blue/green tinges in the fur, since it's supposed to be a creature of poison. The coyote-monster would absolutely have the name 'Fringe'.

MK would train it to defend the home, as well as fight alongside himself and Writer.

These two actually have two pets- two cats, to be precise. The two cats would be chimera twins (like in this picture). Writer would own the left-sided cat, and HB the right-sided cat. Writer's chimera cat would have the name 'Double', while HB's cat would have the name 'Piston'. And, due to HB saving the two cats from being blind when they were found, the cats both have permanently pure-white, glowing eyes.

He had needed to get away for a bit. That was why, without telling any outside of Blade and Sword, he’d taken to using the inter-dimensional doorway one of Writer’s alternates had created... But he hadn’t expected to bump into someone when he stepped out the other side. He blinked, taking a step or two back and slightly bowing.

Maybe this would get his mind off of... Whatever it was... He kept feeling when he was around Writer. Whether it be that he might’ve just gotten himself into a fight, or had just found someone to talk to.. It didn’t matter. He just... Needed to sort himself out right now, get some time to think.

“I apologize, I was not aware of where I would be going.” He raised from his bow, trying to recollect his thoughts. “Can you tell me, stranger, where have I wandered to?”

Headcanons - Meta Knight

Meta Knight was never actually sworn in as a knight to King Dedede- but he does have an official ‘knight’ title thanks to some of the lands he’s visited in years gone by.

Everyone in Dreamland (except for Blade Knight and Sword Knight) believe Meta Knight is King Dedede’s personal knight.

Meta Knight goes along with this (but never speaks of it as true/false in my canon) so that he can have closer access to the Nightmare Enterprises ‘Product’ (Monster) Teleporter.

His sword, Galaxia, is indeed capable of independent thought and action- he views her like a sister.

It does not help that Galaxia ships Writer and Meta Knight.

Meta Knight was one of the first Star Warriors- as such, he was more an experiment than anything else by a nameless rebellion to fight eNeMeE (which he volunteered for). This resulted in his eyes’ ability to change color, as well as granting him a wicked fast response time (and other abilities, such as the ability to change his own mass at will amongst others).

His wings- the inside sections- are sensitive to touch.

He has a sword obsession. And I mean sword OBSESSION.- If it is a sword and it’s for sale, there are high chances he’ll buy it.

He loves showing off his sword collection. No exceptions.

Meta Knight, while definitely not a mass-murderer, has committed some crimes over the course of the war that he is not proud of.

Meta Knight thinks everyone is redeemable until they prove otherwise.- Such as King Dedede and Escargoon, both of whom he thinks are villainous to the core (until he meets Escargoon’s mother, in which he has doubts about Escargoon being pure-bred evil).

Meta Knight’s age is unknown- even to himself. He’s been around for a long time, though.

He is a bit cautious to be childish and more immature around others, but once he is… He’s just… A freaking g o o f.

He has no scars or anything under his helmet- but he is hyper self-conscious about his face after an event from his early childhood.

Meta Knight does not have a mask obsession- however, he does hold the one mask he owns as especially dear to him.

It was totally given to him by his dad, who was a metalsmith.

Said dad died when the war against eNeMeE started- died to Wolfwrath, whom Meta Knight has defeated once... But then eNeMeE revived Wolfwrath so that went down the freaking tubes.
