❛ㅤㅤ━━ㅤㅤPrimeiro é preciso conhecer a enorme família Kwon, um grupo específico de pessoas que surgiu em meio as fazendas de tangerinas em Jeju e que se fortaleceu dentro do surf, tradicionais e conhecidos por sempre estarem envolvidos ao estilo de vida livre e despreocupado, totalmente ligado a natureza, conhecidos até mesmo pela sua luta em favor da natureza, militantes ambientalistas que se tornaram um nome importante para conservação das praias e das trilhas de Jeju. Só assim podemos conhecer Bruno.

A família Kwon não é concentrada apenas em Jeju, muitos saíram de lá para viver em outros país e Bruno nasceu na franquia brasileira, como o seu pai gosta de falar. Kwon Younghwan tinha o sonho de ser biólogo marinho e conseguiu uma bolsa para estudar na UNIFESP em São Paulo, onde conheceu Han Giran, uma coreana-brasileira nascida em Angra dos Reis, apaixonada pela vida simples da sua família ribeirinha, vivia do que eles ganhavam com pescaria e acabou se apaixonando pelo surfe, razão de ter ido parar em São Sebastião, onde estava treinando para campeonatos nacionais enquanto estudava biologia marinha. O romance foi bem típico de universitários, mas rendeu um filho e foi o suficiente para eles decidirem se casar, sendo essa a decisão para voltarem para Jeju foi única e exclusiva sobre segurança, eles teriam uma casa, emprego garantido e poderiam arriscar na biologia marinha, mesmo sem ter um puto furado.

Em Jeju, Bruno nasceu como Taeil e foi abraçado pela família Kwon com muito carinho, e é óbvio que o garoto se envolveria com o surfe e se tornaria um prodígio no esporte, com o crescimento de brasileiros no esporte, o casal decidiu voltar para o Brasil e viver na medida do possível com o que tinham, pois o propósito era transformar o seu filho em um atleta. E não foi diferente, aos nove anos voltou para São Sebastião, onde cresceu com a prancha debaixo de seus pés, resultando em um dos maiores destaques do esporte no Brasil. Sempre entre os cinco melhores do mundo, buscando o seu primeiro mundial, Bruno decidiu voltar para a Coreia quando o surfe entrou para as olimpíadas e ele se tornou uma possibilidade de representar o país nas olimpíadas. Dito e feito, chegou ao pódio das olimpíadas do Japão com uma medalha de bronze e a grande possibilidade de finalmente conseguir o seu mundial, por essa razão decidiu retornar para o ninho da família e viver ali com o foco no esporte, em crescer e evoluir dentro do surfe agora com o desejo de representar o seu país em qualquer campeonato que seja. O seu nome brasileiro veio quando nasceu, escolha de sua mãe, mas acreditavam que jamais usariam esse nome, mas acabou se tornando o único que falavam quando se tratava dele, até quando foi para as olimpíadas, o nome colocado na tela era esse e se tornou parte de quem era, pode chama-lo de Taeil se quiser, mas ele sempre vai preferir quando chama-lo de Bruno.

Viver no mar é parte de sua vida, então é fácil encontrá-lo dentro da água, ou seja ajudando um dos seus familiares com as aulas de surfe ou cuidando da loja de produtos para surfe que tinham na praia, qualquer coisa está ligado a ele, sol e mar, tudo o que precisava para viver em paz.

I am Mohammed Almanasra, 32 years old, married, and a father of three children: Abdulrahman, 6 years old, Sarah, 4 years old, and Lina, 3 years old.

My story began with the loss of my parents and four of my sisters, who were bombed and lost their lives along with their children after the events of October 7 and the severe war on Gaza. Now, I am facing a severe injury to my leg, which is at risk of amputation if I do not receive the necessary treatment. My wife, children, and I are displaced, without parents or siblings, and my wife is also suffering from uterine cancer.

Recently, I moved to the south of the Gaza Strip, fearing for the lives of my children. We left behind our memories and our new home, for which we had not finished paying the installments, in addition to losing my job. Currently, I live in a tent that does not protect me from the heat of summer or the cold of winter, and without the minimum necessary livinng basics including water, food medical care, clothe and even bedding .

I suffer from a chronic asthma and severe attacks from tightness and an extreme allergy in the ear and I need medicine that are not available, or very expensive .

Under these difficult circumstances, after five attempts at displacement and narrowly escaping death from the bombing, I am trying with all my might to protect my family, the most precious thing I have.

My dreams were shattered, and my house was destroyed, and I found myself living in a tent no larger than 4 square metres. My work turned from a tailor to a street vendor in order to barely buy a few crumbs of bread to feed my children.

Look at what happened to my children because of the intense heat and the insects that thrive in the summer season. Every day, I take them to the hospital to treat them due to poisonous insect bites. I implore every kind-hearted soul to help me protect my children.

My son, Abdul Rahman, has a deep passion for playing football and is a devoted fan of Real Madrid. He always dreamed of playing football at his school, but the war prevented this dream from coming true.

Hey. You know how laws against queer people never really mask off say that they're for queer persecution? You know how they always have to wrap it in a layer of "saving the children" or "protecting women", when the goal is actually the destruction of queer groups without actually any improvements to the lives of children or women? You know how the cherry pick examples without context of queer people committing horrible Acts, most of the times in completely false ways, try and make their point?

A bill to destroy biomedical research as we know it just got introduced to Congress with a similar tactic.

The SPARE act would ban all use of vertebrate animals for biomedical research in the United states. It's dressed in language of animal welfare, into aims to tap into the public lack of knowledge about how animal research is used and why is necessary. Not easier, necessary.

I can go into great detail about why this is, but I'm going to put this as simply as possible. There is an inherent paradox to not using animals for biomedical research. If you know enough about a factor or disease or whatever, that you are studying, replicated in a model system and no, for a fact that this model system reflects the reality of how that factor operates in a complete organism, then you know enough about that factor by definition to none use an animal. And therefore, no research is even necessary. If something is being researched, somewhere in the thread of that research, there will be an animal study involved. Maybe not in that particular paper, maybe not in that particular research group, but something that group cites, some continuation of that research, some thing that is necessary to actually provide a meaningful understanding about human or animal biology, must involve a research animal at some point in the process.

Anyone who has done animal research understands this is the case. Anyone who has done animal research also understands that there are great standards put in place by University IACUCs to maintain ethical standards. Are there lapses? Of course. And you're about to hear about *all* of them, without context, without the thousands of examples of lives that have been saved by disease research. And of course, we already *have* systems of accountability.

Animal testing is a delicate topic across the political spectrum. And for good reason. However, I don't think very many people outside of the field truly understand how necessary it is to gain literally any understanding about biological systems, nor the systems of accountability that already exist to ensure it's done ethically and meaningfully.

The goal is destruction of research science in this country. If this bill passes I'm genuinely doubtful that I will ever be able to be employed in this country again.

Please, PLEASE urge your representatives to do something about this.

Oh and by the way- if you needed any indication that this law is bullshit and they don't care about animal welfare, any testing on military and police animals is a specifically allowed exception.
