27. i’m not the moon (1.1k wrdc)

“Welcome homeeeeee!” You yelled once you both entered the beach house. The house was quiet since your friends were currently out drinking, but that didn’t stop Jaemin’s eyes going wide at your unexpected volume.

“Can we go to the pool? I want to swim.”

“How about we get comfortable, I can still feel the sand on me from earlier.” He looked down at his clothes that were semi full of sand.

The laugh you let out pulled his attention from himself back to you. You always looked so pretty but especially when you were laughing. That’s why he had a hard time concentrating on the volleyball game from earlier, or at least what he told minjeong who had lots to tease him about while everyone went to get ice cream.

Jaemin wasn’t an idiot either, he noticed the way your stature changed earlier in the day and when you and karina walked away for a moment. Nothing affected him more than the look on your face in that moment. It seemed almost like dread or fear but mainly it was like you were trying to hold yourself back.

It wasn’t a good feeling and he knew that, that’s why he just had to follow you afterwards. He didn’t need to know the cause, he just needed to make sure that you wouldn’t end the night without your perfect contagious smile.

“Your eyes are really pretty.”

He hadn’t noticed the trance he’d been in while facing you. He also hadn’t noticed how close you’d gotten to him, observing him as if he was some type of science experiment.

“Very bright, kinda like the stars we saw earlier,” You spoke again. Even if he couldn’t see you, he would’ve heard the smile in your voice. He felt his cheeks get warm at the compliment.

“If i’m a star you’re the galaxy.” He said truthfully. If you were the sun he would’ve revolved around you as venus or some other planet, and if you were the earth he would’ve done just the same as the moon. You didn’t know it yet but Na Jaemin was wrapped around your finger, proudly.

“Wow my heart fluttered a bit.” You touched to your heart and laughed, walking over to the couch before tossing yourself onto it. Immediately grabbing the remote to check what was on the TV.

“I’m gonna go change really quickly.” You nodded from your spot on the couch, very focused on finding a source of entertainment.

Jaemin stepped into the room he would be sharing with Jeno, it of course still being empty. He ran straight to the bathroom after grabbing his luggage.

A quick rinse would be just the thing to get rid of the way his heart couldn’t stop pounding, or at least that’s what he’d hope. He didn’t even have much to drink and yet his entire self couldn’t stop the warm feeling he got just from being around you.

He thought back to when all of your friends had been getting ready to leave the restaurant and find a new place to get drinks. The way you had been whining about not being able to leave since he was ‘missing’. He had left to go pay for everyone’s meal secretly, though it was hard to do when you were the only person to notice his absence.

He walked his way back to the table, you immediately spotted him and ran over to him. Chenle and Karina hadn’t noticed as they were mid conversation.

“Where did you go? I thought I lost you.” You looked up at him with worried eyes. You looked so damn cute he couldn’t hold back a smile.

“I’m here.”

“Well come on, we have to go!” You had linked his arm in yours. “They’ll close if we don’t get there on time.”

“What will close?”

You let go of his arm and rolled your eyes. You were still so damn cute when you were annoyed. “The convenience store.”

“Don’t they stay open twenty four hours?”

You groaned at his response. “I don’t care we have to go now.” You were whining now, and to him you still looked so damn cute.

He was about to speak before you turned around and started towards the door. “What are you doing?”

“You can come with or not Jae, but i’m going anyway.” You said before running off. He quickly followed after, not expecting you to be such a fast runner. You were very full of surprises.

He let out a sigh as he turned off the shower, changing into a more comfortable pair of clothes. Before heading out of the bathroom he looked into the mirror. A shower didn’t stop the way his heart was beating contrary to his beliefs.

Once he found himself back in the living room he found you sat on the couch, you must’ve changed when he was in the shower cause you were wearing a random baggy t-shirt and some hello kitty pajama pants.

He must’ve made a sound cause you turned to face his direction, chip bowl in the middle of your lap. “Come on Jae, they’re playing some movie with this guy who’s awake during surgery or something.”

He felt butterflies at the unexpected nickname you had used twice on him tonight. He tried to shake them off as he seated himself next to you.

“They don’t know he’s awake though, creepy right?” You offered him some chips in the bowl and he accepted.

“I’ve heard that could happen.” Your eyes widened in fear. He instantly felt regret in his words. “It’s not common though so really it’s nothing to worry about.”

“Too late now anytime i’m in the hospital i’m going to be thinking about the possibility.” You said with a sour face.

“Do you find yourself in the hospital often?”

“Touché.”

“Come on, don’t worry your pretty little head. Let’s just watch the movie.”

“Okay but if you’re there with me my next hospital visit I expect you shaking me to check if the anesthesia works.” You shrugged looking back at the movie.

“Then i’d look insane?” He said holding back a laugh.

“That’s your problem not mine, now shush i’m trying to focus here.”

The movie was hard to pay attention to especially with how close you were. It seemed like drunk y/n had no sense of proximity, though Jaemin wasn’t complaining. You leaned on him during the film, chip bowl back in your arms, occasionally offering him some.

Jaemin tried not to be selfish but he couldn’t stop himself from wanting this moment to last forever. So instead of putting distance between you both he allowed himself to have this, if only for tonight.

Mrigashira: Always On The Run

TW: abuse, kidnapping, r*pe, murder, stalking, violence, incest

I have been doing more research on Mrigashira simply because for the last month or so, I have been seeing more Mrigashira like incidents more and more often (synchronicity, I suppose). It's so fascinating to me how literally the themes of this nakshatra manifest in real life.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the mythology of this nakshatra, it goes like this:

Rohini was Brahma's favourite daughter. He loved her to such an extent that he tried to be sexually intimate with her. Traumatized, Rohini decided to leave heaven. She descended down to earth and took the form of a deer (a deer's head is the symbol of Mrigashira and the word "Mrigashira" literally translates to animal's head) so that she can hide away from her creepy father. Deers are animals who spend their lives in fear of danger. Every day it wakes up knowing that it will have to run for its life because its prey to many predators. There is no sense of safety.

In real life this translates to paranoia, stalking (being stalked as well as stalking others), kidnapping, being held hostage, incestual abuse, obsession, being exiled, going into hiding, being deprived of your "freedom", being gaslit/manipulated, stockholm syndrome, having a violent/unsafe home, being on the run, chasing as well as being chased etc

Lindsay Lohan, Mrigashira Rising (she is also Bharani Moon and Venusian women are highly susceptible to abuse, which I'll explore further in a separate post)

Lindsay starred in a movie called I Know Who Killed Me which revolves around a young woman who is abducted and tortured by a sadistic serial killer. After surviving the abduction, she insists that her identity is that of another woman.

I would say both the themes of being abducted and held hostage and also being very confused about your identity are linked to Mrigashira (I won't give away the twist of the movie, but you should watch it, its not as bad as some people say it is). You have to remember that in the mythology, Rohini changed form from a woman to a deer, so changing identities, being confused about who you really are and by extension being susceptible to gaslighting and manipulation and also being paranoid about the same are all Mrigashira themes.

However, its not just victims who have Mrigashira placements, unfortunately, many perpetrators have Mrig in their charts as well.

Boy George- Mrigashira Sun

In 2007, Boy George imprisoned a male escort in his house, chained him to the wall and beat him up. It was apparently a psychotic episode as George was struggling with cocaine addiction at the time. He was convicted and served a 15-month sentence.

Sia- Mrigashira Moon

Sia felt uncomfortable being in the limelight and would suffer from constant anxiety and nervous breakdowns as a result of it in the early phase of her career. So when she made a comeback, she decided to wear wigs that covered her face and basically kept her hidden from view (all of these are Mrigashira themes).

Sia's relationship and obsession with Maddie Ziegler (Saturn in Mrigashira) has been extremely inappropriate. In 2014, at the age of 11, Maddie starred in Chandelier for Sia who was 38yrs old. Sia was a huge fan of Maddie after watching her performances on Dance Moms and reached out to her to star in the video. This began a long series of collaborations and performances.

Sia kept creating projects for Maddie to be in just so that she can keep her close and in her own words "protect her". But she cast Maddie as an autistic teen in a movie called Music for which Maddie received huge backlash and is considered very insulting movie to the autistic community. Maddie didn't even want to be in it but Sia forced her.

For many years, Maddie was the ONLY person that Sia followed on IG (now she's one of the five people she follows lol). Maddie would apparently have sleepovers with Sia and they'd snuggle in bed together? 🤮🤢🤮idk why a teenager has to live and snuggle with some middle aged woman who isn't even related to her?? Sia gets away with all this bc she's a woman, if a man did all this to a teenager he'd be accused of grooming her. Sia even bought Maddie her first car and tried to adopt her?? Sia basically made Maddie codependent on her from her early teens. I hope one day all the truth comes to light because their dynamic is seriously disturbing and Maddie has yet to speak up about it.

I personally find it morbid that a woman who found fame so nerve wracking and damaging as to hide behind wigs for her entire career would put a literal child out there as the "face" of her brand and then claim that she was "protecting" her. What or who exactly is she being protected from lol? if anything she is being exploited by a creepy older woman.

Linda Hamilton, Mrigashira Moon

Linda played the iconic Sarah Connor in the Terminator who is supposed to be executed by a cyborg sent from the future. The entire movie basically features Sarah running for her life. This is a very literal manifestation of a Mrigashira trope.

Bae Doona, Mrigashira Moon

several characters that Doona has played echo Mrigashira-esque themes. In Cloud Atlas, she plays a humanoid clone who has to eat "soap" which is the food that clones eat to remain acquiescent (it takes away their ability to remember or form new thoughts that aren't programmed into them- basically a scifi dystopian version of being gaslit). She eventually breaks free and learns the "truth" about her condition (another Mrigashira theme is "learning the truth" because Rohini escaped heaven after learning the truth behind her father's love).

Ewan McGregor, Mrigashira Moon

Ewan starred in a movie called Big Fish which is about a frustrated son trying to determine the fact from fiction in his dying father's life.

Ewan plays the father in question. The son does eventually learn about the truth but blurring fact and fiction and not being able to distinguish which is which, being overly suspicious of others and their motives etc are all Mrigashira themes.

Liam Neeson, Mrigashira Sun

In The Taken movies, Liam stars as a former CIA operative who must rescue his teenage daughter and her friend who has been abducted by human traffickers for sexual slavery while on a trip to Paris.

Liam is on the run throughout the movie, except he's the one chasing them and he is on a mission to rescue his abducted daughter (extremely on brand Mrigashira trope).

Bear Grylls, Ketu in Mrigashira

speaking of running and chasing, lets talk about surviving in the wild, which also arguably correlates to Mrigashira. Bear Grylls aka the man who made a career out of teaching people how to survive in the wild has his Ketu placement here. i include Ketu placements because Ketu is how we channel our latent creative potential. it represents our imagination and creativity bc its the lowest point of our subconscious.

BTS made their debut on 12th June 2013, so they have Mrigashira Sun atmakaraka & Jupiter (Pushya Moon, Mercury in Punarvasu amatyakaraka)

I have often wondered why Armies are so uniquely obsessive and why BTS seems mutually obsessed with their armies. For the most part it is a wonderful rapport (minus the saesangs) and knowing their Mrigashira connection cements it further.

Amelia Earhart, Venus in Mrigashira atmakaraka

The Mrigashira urge to be an explorer of some kind is very interesting to me, I feel like they're always breaking into new territories and doing unprecedented things but always paying a personal price for it

Amelia was an American aviation pioneer. On July 2, 1937, Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to become the first female pilot to circumnavigate the world. To this day, no one is quite sure what happened to her.

Mrigashira nak is quite prominent in the charts of many people who have similarly gone exploring and never returned.

Michael Rockefeller, Venus AK in Mrigashira, Mars Amk in Mrigashira

In 1961, he was on an expedition (??) in present day Indonesia (then Dutch New Guinea) when the boat he was in had overturned. He was with the anthropologist Rene Wassing who was rescued the next day but Michael was never seen or heard from again despite intensive searches all over the area. He was declared legally dead in 1964. There have been speculations over the years that he may have been a victim of cannibalism (which was practiced by the local tribes).

Joshua Slocum, Ketu in Mrigashira

He was the first person to sail single-handedly around the world.

In 1909 he set sail from New England in the Spray (the name of his ship) to spend the winter in Grand Cayman and was lost at sea. He was assumed to have been the victim of a collision; he and the Spray were never found, and in 1924 he was declared legally dead.

To go exploring and never be found is tragically Mrigashiracore

Hart Crane, Ketu in Mrigashira

On April 27, 1932, Crane, in an inebriated state, jumped off or fell off the steamship USS Orizaba and into the Gulf of Mexico while the ship was en route to New York. His body was never found.

Glen Miller, Mrigashira Rising

American big band conductor, arranger, composer, trombone player, and recording artist before and during World War II, when he was an officer in the US Army Air Forces.

Miller went missing in action (MIA) on December 15, 1944, on a flight over the English Channel. In keeping with standard operating procedure for the US military services, Miller was officially declared dead a year and a day later. Nobody is sure as to what exactly happened to him and his body was never recovered.

Jodi Sue Huisentruit, Mars in Mrigashira AmK

She was an American news anchor for KIMT in Mason City, Iowa. She disappeared in the early morning hours of June 27, 1995, soon after telling a colleague that she had overslept and was running late for work. Since there were signs of a struggle outside her apartment, Huisentruit is believed to have been abducted. However, extensive investigations failed to uncover any clues to her disappearance, and Huisentruit was declared legally dead in 2001.

Victor Grayson, Mars in Mrigashira AK, Shravana Moon

He was an English socialist politician of the early 20th century.

On 28 September 1920, Grayson was out drinking with friends when he received a telephone message. He told his friends that he had to go to the Queen's Hotel in Leicester Square and would be back shortly. He did not return and no one knows what happened to him.

It has been speculated that Grayson was murdered to prevent his revealing evidence of corruption.

Salman Rushdie, Sun & Moon in Mrigashira

After his fourth novel, The Satanic Verses (1988), Rushdie became the subject of several assassination attempts and death threats, including a fatwa calling for his death issued by Ruhollah Khomeini, the supreme leader of Iran. Numerous killings and bombings have been carried out by extremists who cite the book as motivation, sparking a debate about censorship and religiously motivated violence. In 2022, a man stabbed Rushdie after rushing onto the stage where the novelist was scheduled to deliver a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York.

After the fatwa was issued, Rushdie took the name of Joseph Anton and lived in hiding under police protection for several years. The theme of Mrigashira running away and trying to hide manifests once again in this unfortunate example.

Vili Fualaau, Uttara Ashadha Moon, Mrigashira Stellium (Mercury, Mars & Rahu)

In the 90s Vili Fualaau's case made major headlines when Mary Kay Letourneau, his teacher was arrested for raping the 6th grader whom she had known since he was in 2nd grade. She was 34 years old and pregnant with 12 year old Vili's baby 🤢🤮🤢and claimed that she did not know that it was a crime to have sex with minors?? While awaiting sentencing, she gave birth to Fualaau's daughter.

Shortly after Letourneau had completed three months in jail, the police caught her in a car with Fualaau. A judge revoked her plea agreement and reinstated the prison sentence for the maximum allowed by law of seven and a half years. Eight months after returning to prison, she gave birth to Fualaau's second child, another daughter. She was imprisoned from 1998 to 2004. Letourneau and Fualaau were married in May 2005, and the marriage lasted 14 years until their separation in 2019. She died from cancer in 2020 and even though they were separated, Fualaau took care of her until she passed away. He publicly claimed that he never saw anything wrong in their relationship.

Obviously many victims struggle to form a coherent understanding of what happened to them. Some eroticize their experiences, others romanticize them or normalize them. Its often difficult for Mrig natives to fully comprehend or understand the insanity of the really messed up things they went through. Fualaau was groomed and raped by this woman since he was a child yet he held her in positive regard and remained married to her for nearly two decades and took care of her until she passed away?

Its similar to Brooke Shields, Mrig Moon who always spoke glowingly about the mother who made her do a full frontal nude playboy shoot as a 10yr old child??

Mrigashira being a deva gana nakshatra is quick to forgive and forget, it is also a Mridu or gentle nakshatra and often times, just how ??? sympathetic they are towards people who have abused them baffles me.

Gary DeVore- Jupiter in Mrigashira AmK, Uttaraphalguni Sun

He was a Hollywood screenwriter.

DeVore disappeared in June 1997, while driving at night from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Santa Barbara, California, prompting an extensive search and media speculation. DeVore was working in his office in Santa Fe trying to finish a script. DeVore had recently complained of writer's block, and so had decided to change his environment. When he finally finished the script, DeVore decided to drive home through the Mojave Desert. His wife Wendy was waiting for him at their beachfront house in Carpinteria, California. When she did not hear from him, she decided to call around 1 am (it was later discovered the call had not been recorded by the telephone company). He answered, but was not very specific on his location. This was the last time Wendy spoke with him.

A year later, he and his Ford Explorer were discovered submerged below a bridge over the aqueduct in Palmdale, California. After police had retrieved the vehicle from the water, it was found that his laptop containing the script (titled The Big Steal) was missing, as was his gun. DeVore's hands were missing; hand bones were found nearby but could not be conclusively identified as DeVore's. The discovery of DeVore's vehicle was considered suspicious, as the aqueduct was searched shortly after his disappearance was reported and nothing unusual was discovered. Police concluded that for DeVore to crash his vehicle in this location meant that he would have had to have driven 3 mi (4.8 km) against traffic without being seen. This would have been doubly difficult because the vehicle's lights were not switched on. DeVore's death has not been solved to date.

Patty Hearst, Jupiter in Mrigashira AK, Sun & Venus in Shatabhisha (I had previously explored how Shatabhisha natives often endure abuse)

She first became known for the events following her 1974 kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army. She was found and arrested 19 months after being abducted, by which time she was a fugitive wanted for serious crimes committed with members of the group. She was held in custody, and there was speculation before trial that her family's resources would enable her to avoid time in prison.

At her trial, the prosecution suggested that Hearst had joined the Symbionese Liberation Army of her own volition. However, she testified that she had been raped and threatened with death while held captive. At the time of her arrest, Hearst's weight had dropped to 87 pounds (40 kg), and she was described by psychologist Margaret Singer in October 1975 as "a low-IQ, low-affect zombie". Shortly after her arrest, doctors recorded signs of trauma: her IQ was measured as 112, whereas it had previously been 130; there were huge gaps in her memory regarding her pre-SLA life; she was smoking heavily and had nightmares. She is said to have been brainwashed into committing crimes for the SLA

There is a really unfortunate pattern of Mrig natives being brainwashed by others, living in hiding, being on the run and generally feeling unsafe. These are some extreme manifestations of the themes of this nakshatra.

SUMMARY: You were originally planning to have a calm night in. You didn’t expect to deal with a home invader, and you definitely didn’t expect for the culprit to be the one and only Spider-Woman.

WARNINGS: All characters are 18+. Fluff/Comfort, Swearing.

It wasn’t often where you had the ability to stay home and relax. University was a pain, both mentally and emotionally, and quite honestly, even physically. There had been countless times where you were forced to stay up until five in the morning, just for the sake of getting yourself confidently ready for an upcoming test. Granted, your professors didn’t blatantly say that abstaining from sleep was mandatory in order to do well in your studies, but there were more times where it was implied that one needed to simply revolve their life around school if they wanted a chance at graduating with flying colors.

But luckily, it was a Friday, and all of the at home work you typically were obligated to do wasn’t assigned for the weekend. You assumed that the teachers who taught the classes you attended understood that all of their students were slowly losing their minds, and so they decided – together – to let you rest, even if only for a few days. Still though, you planned on taking full advantage of the window of relaxation you received. Responsibilities could fall off the face of the earth for all you cared. Your main focus – now – was huddling up on the couch with a bowl of your favorite snack and looking as though you belonged there.

And you did. For a good while.

Until the sound of something crashing in the other room snapped you out of your comforting stupor. It sounded as though an entire shelving unit tipped over and spilled the contents of what it displayed onto the floor. Not only that, but it sounded like it was coming from the room that you and your roommate shared. Usually, you would have shrugged it off and assumed that it was just Gwen, doing whatever it was that she typically did alone, but the only issue was the fact that she wasn’t even home. You and her came into your shared apartment after school earlier in the day, but she didn’t stay for long. Something about her dad and needing to help him with whatever it was a police officer needed help with.

You didn’t pay her any mind. You only waved her off and told her to be safe, before you resumed your mission in trying to veg out for the rest of the day. You assumed she would have been back by the evening, but then the sun faded away from the earth, and when the moon replaced it, you sent her text that questioned her whereabouts. And when she didn’t answer you, you scoffed and tossed your phone onto the coffee table in front of the couch you sat on, too lazy to worry. Only now did the thought of your phone come back to your mind, and so as you set down your bowl of half-eaten food, you tapped the screen of your device that sat right next to your dish.

It lit up, and you were greeted with an array of text messages from Gwen. All of which were franticly sent and poorly spelled, like she had been running when she tapped her thumbs against the digital keyboard. It was amusing, and an often occurrence from the woman. Though, you still felt suspicions rise the longer you scrolled down to read over the other stuff she sent you. Random emojis that she had never used before had somehow been sent to you. And then when you eventually got to the bottom of the thread she had randomly created on your phone, your eyes slightly widened.

There was a close up of a masked face you had the joy of meeting a few times. It looked like a selfie, but it also looked as though the person who took it was a mom who had no idea how to use the camera on their phone. It was blurry, the quality was pretty terrible, but you could still make out the covered face of Spider-Woman. The angular, sharp white eyes that stared down at the screen, voidless of any emotion because they weren’t even real irises. You couldn’t help but stand up to your feet and bring your phone with you, taking a closer look at it as your blanket fell from your body.

Another crashing sound and a familiar expletive of ‘shit!’ came from the room that wasn’t too far from where you were. It wasn’t difficult to tell who had – poorly – snuck inside the house at… one in the morning. You let out a sigh and shoved your phone into the pocket of your pajamas, before you stepped away from the couch and walked towards wherever the sound had originally come from. You could only assume that Gwen was the culprit of all the noise that was being made, however the closer you got to the door that the sound came from, you felt a feeling of anxiety fill your stomach when the thought of some stranger actually being the one who was creating such a disturbance filled your mind.

Even though you swore you heard Gwen’s voice just a few minutes ago, you were starting to second guess your own hearing. Still, your hesitation didn’t stop you from raising a hand up and knocking on the door. The sound was loud as your knuckles rapped against the wood, and just from the simple action, it caused another thump to reverberate from within the room. Yet another curse came from the culprit, and when you heard that familiar voice of a certain blonde again, you suddenly grew impatient, and opened up the door, not giving your friend the time to get herself collected.

And honestly, you didn’t regret your decision when you pushed the door open to reveal Gwen, who just barely managed to kick a bundle of white, black, and pink fabric under her bed. Your eyebrows immediately furrowed in skepticism, while your friend put her arms behind her back and straightened up casually at the sight of you. Her blonde hair was messy, pieces of it sticking up, as though she had rubbed a balloon on her head, and the oversized band t-shirt she had put on was actually backwards, which allowed you to see the back graphic. Your lips parted slightly in confusion as your eyes lowered down to take in the rest of her form, and you let out a breathless chuckle of amusement when you saw her mismatched socks and the inside out cotton shorts she had shuffled into.

“Um…” You didn’t even know what to say, but the sound of your voice caused Gwen to stand up straighter and send you a very suspiciously innocent grin. It showed off the gap between her white teeth, and although you wanted to cut to the chase and interrogate her on where she had gone, you couldn’t help the flutter of endearment that filled your chest and quickly took the form of a smile on your lips. Although, as much as you wanted to dwell on the natural cuteness your best friend exuded, you focused on the main reason as to why you entered her room. “So… where have you been?” you asked her, before you crossed your arms over your chest and glanced down at your feet awkwardly. “Your texts today were a little… interesting.”

“Oh, really?” Gwen let out a laugh at your statement, which caused you to lift your head and meet her blue eyes. She tapped her socked foot impatiently as she shrugged her shoulders to try and prove that she had no recollection of the weird texts she sent you throughout the day. “That’s weird. I uh… I must’ve, like… butt texted you or something.”

“Oh yeah?” you questioned, though it was entirely rhetorical, considering your eyebrows raised up to show that you didn’t believe her lie at all whatsoever. “Did, uh… Spider-Woman take your phone or something and butt text me, too?” At your words, her casual demeanor crumbled, and you almost smirked to yourself when you saw the look of panic that flashed over her features, before it vanished, and a look of faux perplexion painted her expression instead.

“I… what…?” Gwen gestured her hands up to try and play off her ignorance, but you only reached into your pocket to pull out your phone once more. As you turned it on and unlocked it, you could sense the way she quietly walked over to you to look down at the evidence you were about to show her. Of course, you didn’t need to say a single thing to try and prove your suspicions. Simply going to her contact and looking at the messages that were shared between the two of you, she immediately spotted that blurry picture of her in her suit. It was a terrible selfie, but it still didn’t make it too difficult to recognize who the culprit of the photo was. “Okay… um…”

You cut her off before she could say some other boldface lie. Shutting off your phone, you dropped it back into your pocket, before you looked up at the blonde with a furrowed expression. “So, is there anything you want to tell me, Gwen?” You already had your suspicions that the woman was doing something on the down low – something that you couldn’t know about. But the last thing you thought was that she was the one and only Spider-Woman. Sure, it was a theory that circled around your mind every once in a while, but you always thought that the girl was way too clumsy to be New York's friendly neighborhood superhero.

Maybe it was all a front. Maybe she wasn’t clumsy at all.

“Okay, look–” Gwen stepped back from you and raised her hands up in surrender, which caused your own body to turn and face her own. “I’ve wanted to tell you for a while that I’m – you know – but I never did because I knew that would have put you in danger, and I don’t want anything to happen to you, and so I just never did that because the number one thing in those secret superhero movies that people watch is to never ever tell the people you care about that you’re the superhero.” She was frantically rambling, but you still managed to catch everything that she told you. You slowly nodded your head in understanding, and just as she was about to open her mouth again, you raised your hand up, which caused her to pause.

“I get it, Gwen,” you muttered, “don’t worry.”

“You can’t tell anyone about this, Y/n,” Gwen quickly replied, as she stepped closer to you and clasped her hands down onto your shoulders. “If anyone else finds out that I’m… you know – her… then I’m screwed.” Her tone was pleading, and you could tell that she was clearly worried about your knowledge of who she was. You attempted to assure her that you weren’t going to out her, but she had spoken before you could say anything… again. “And – please delete that picture. People can’t know that you’re – that I’m… just delete the picture,” she rambled, which earned a slow nod from you, as you reached into the pocket of your PJ’s again, fishing for your phone. “You’re the only person that knows. I’d like to keep it that way, so please, please don’t say anything–”

“Gwen, hey,” you called her name, which caused the blonde to immediately close her mouth and meet your eyes. “I’m not going to say anything to anyone, okay?” you reassured her, before you lifted up the screen of your phone and deleted the blurry selfie of her as Spider-Woman right in front of her. “Your secret is safe with me, alright? My lips are sealed.”

“Okay.” Gwen breathed out a sigh of relief as she nodded her head, her hands falling away from your shoulders. “Thank you,” she said, which earned a simple shrug from you, before you put your phone back into your pocket, for the umpteenth time. “You’re not mad at me, right?” she suddenly asked, causing you to roll your eyes lightheartedly and let out a small laugh.

“No, of course not, Gwen,” you replied. “I understand why you didn’t say anything. I just kinda wish you told me a little sooner.”

Gwen brought a hand up to rub at the back of her neck and glanced down at the floor. “Yeah… I probably should have, but…” She shrugged her shoulders as she dropped her arm back to her side. “I didn’t want to risk it,” she admitted, her eyes lifting to meet yours again. “Being the face behind Spider-Woman’s mask is kind of something that I don’t want anyone to know, but…”

“Now I know,” you finished sympathetically, which earned a small nod from your friend. You breathed in at that, understanding the worry that probably instilled her. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, knowing that you’re Spider-Woman makes me feel a little safer.”

“Only a little?” Gwen questioned, which earned a scoff from you, as you turned around and started making your way out of her room.

“Don’t push it, Spider-Woman.”

You smiled to yourself when you heard Gwen let out a chuckle from behind you.

BONUS:

The light from the television was the only thing that illuminated the living room, as Gwen leaned into your side with your favorite blanket draped over her. She had stolen most of it, but the warmth of her body against your side was a valid replacement. You and her were both focused on the show the two of you religiously binged together, and although you were very intrigued by the plot of it, there was still a question that lingered in the back of your mind. Although your best friend had asked you not to see her any differently due to her being Spider-Woman, you couldn’t help the confusion that formed when you thought about how she became the superhero everybody knew and loved.

As Gwen fidgeted with your hand that hung over her shoulders, you leaned your head back against the couch and spoke up, your voice distant, since the show before the two of you still slightly hypnotized you. “Hey Gwen.” Your friend hummed in response to your call of her name, and so you continued, mindlessly. “I’ve been wondering,” you started, before you swallowed and licked your lips thoughtlessly. “How did you become Spider-Woman?” Your question earned a loud sigh from her, which caused you to furrow your eyebrows and look down at her, which didn’t really do any justice, since you could only see part of her face as she continued to stare at the TV. “What? Is that a bad question to ask?”

“No, just…” You felt her shrug against you and shuffle slightly, which caused you to raise your arm up and let her lay her upper body across your legs. “Out of all the questions you could have asked me, it’s that one?” You looked down at her and met her eyes. You couldn’t help but trace the finer details of her face for a moment, before she folded her hands together and rested them against the middle of her chest. “It’s a long story,” she told you softly. Her voice grabbed your attention again, and you showed that you were listening when you hummed. “Do you… want to hear it still?”

You sent her a small smile and nodded. “Of course I do.”

Gwen nodded her own head and pressed her lips together, before her fingers started drumming against the back of her own hands. “Okay, well…” She trailed off and let out a quiet breath. “It all started when I was bitten by a radioactive spider…”

As they try, it's apparent that they're flustered and confused, also trying to hide it from the stream and webcam in front of you as well.

They quickly excuse themselves, needing to "grab a snack" because they were hungry. Of course, you let them go, reassuring them that that their health and wellbeing was more important than the stream.

Alright, if we're still doing the winners' poem, let's talk through some Scar ideas I've seen floating around (and some of my own). But first, see this post breaking down the poem as a whole and explaining why Martyn is definitely mars, if you want.

The Earth:

Probably the most popular. And it makes sense. Scar, full of life, so full of tragedy. Forever growing, like the sunflowers of sunflower valley, and the flowers on his cape. The earth, revolving around the sun and having its tides pulled by the moon. Both of whom he fought to the death, one of whom he won.

A Solar Eclipse:

Ah, more sun and moon. The moon blocking out the sun. Something could be said for parallels of the fight. Of a denied sacrifice followed by a fight already over before it had even begun. A fight that was always going to end the way it did.

Or, perhaps, if we take it another direction. The secret keepers blacking out all his light. He won as a forced villain.

And of course, an eclipse just generally being a bad omen, which also fits into his villainy. It also slightly ties into the sunflowers of sunflower valley. Just a bit. A sliver.

A Black Hole:

Similarly to the eclipse, the black hole is also devoid of light. Even more dramatically so. But still, he has a gravity that managed to pull people in during their last moments.

Mercury:

If I use the same thought process as I did for Martyn's "mars", I must mention the roman god. Mercury was the Roman equivalent of Hermes. He was also the god of thievery, wealth, trading and language. And what is Scar known for, if not for his silver tounge and swindling? Mercury is also the god of luck. And although Scar hasn't really had all that good luck this season, it still drives me to think about the first episode. The hard task, that wasn't all that hard. And the warden, and wither. How he just couldn't seem to die. Luck, maybe.

Mercury is a small planet, often overlooked. I don't think many people expected Scar to be a threat this season, not when he initially struggled to keep both secrets and hearts.

It also has no moons. Scar has no allies. And yes, of course, it's the closest planet to the sun.

The Void:

This is the first season where the end has been unlocked. A cold, lonely place. Makes me think of the word "devoid", and how many things haven't Scar had taken away from him? Potential allies, a home burnt and blown to smithereens.

Pluto:

Barely even a planet. People wouldn't think he'd even be included in the line of notable celestial bodies for this poem. But then again, most people didn't think they'd see Scar win either. And definitely not in the season where taking any damage had lasting consequences. Similar to the point I made about mercury, but when more pointed tbh.

Pluto is the furthest away from the other planets. Pluto is lonely, terribly so. Pluto, who has been told time and time again what he is and what he isn't (planet status, villain tasks), which has alienated him from the other planet (still, it has that little heart looking shape on it. Like a scar. Like a wish to be loved).

Now, of course, the Roman god. Pluto is the god of wealth. Fitting for a man whose whole thing this season was trading (and who, in every other season, also had a thing for material goods and negotiating). Pluto is also the god of the dead. Scar is the only winner to have been killed (by another player, in the cactus ring) and the only winner to have survived.

Writing Notes: The Moon (pt. 2)

Earth’s Moon is thought to have formed in a tremendous collision. A massive object ― named Theia after the mythological Greek Titan who was the mother of Selene, goddess of the Moon ― smashed into Earth, flinging material into space that became the Moon.

The brightest and largest object in our night sky, the Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating our home planet's wobble on its axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years.

The Moon was likely formed after a Mars-sized body collided with Earth several billion years ago.

Earth's only natural satellite is simply called "the Moon" because people didn't know other moons existed until Galileo Galilei discovered four moons orbiting Jupiter in 1610. In Latin, the Moon was called Luna, which is the main adjective for all things Moon-related: lunar.

The many missions that have explored the Moon have found no evidence to suggest it has its own living things. However, the Moon could be the site of future colonization by humans. The discovery that the Moon harbors water ice, and that the highest concentrations occur within darkened craters at the poles, makes the Moon a little more hospitable for future human colonists.

With a radius of about 1,080 miles (1,740 kilometers), the Moon is less than a third of the width of Earth. If Earth were the size of a nickel, the Moon would be about as big as a coffee bean.

The Moon is an average of 238,855 miles (384,400 kilometers) away. That means 30 Earth-sized planets could fit in between Earth and the Moon.

The Moon is slowly moving away from Earth, getting about an inch farther away each year.

The Moon is rotating at the same rate that it revolves around Earth (called synchronous rotation), so the same hemisphere faces Earth all the time. Some people call the far side – the hemisphere we never see from Earth – the "dark side" but that's misleading. As the Moon orbits Earth, different parts are in sunlight or darkness at different times. The changing illumination is why, from our perspective, the Moon goes through phases. During a "full moon," the hemisphere of the Moon we can see from Earth is fully illuminated by the Sun. And a "new moon" occurs when the far side of the Moon has full sunlight, and the side facing us is having its night.

The moon's near and far side.

The Moon makes a complete orbit around Earth in 27 Earth days and rotates or spins at that same rate, or in that same amount of time. Because Earth is moving as well – rotating on its axis as it orbits the Sun – from our perspective, the Moon appears to orbit us every 29 days.

The leading theory of the Moon's origin is that a Mars-sized body collided with Earth about 4.5 billion years ago. The resulting debris from both Earth and the impactor accumulated to form our natural satellite 239,000 miles (384,000 kilometers) away. The newly formed Moon was in a molten state, but within about 100 million years, most of the global "magma ocean" had crystallized, with less-dense rocks floating upward and eventually forming the lunar crust.

Earth's Moon has a core, mantle, and crust:

The Moon’s core is proportionally smaller than other terrestrial bodies' cores. The solid, iron-rich inner core is 149 miles (240 kilometers) in radius. It is surrounded by a liquid iron shell 56 miles (90 kilometers) thick. A partially molten layer with a thickness of 93 miles (150 kilometers) surrounds the iron core.

The mantle extends from the top of the partially molten layer to the bottom of the Moon's crust. It is most likely made of minerals like olivine and pyroxene, which are made up of magnesium, iron, silicon, and oxygen atoms.

The crust has a thickness of about 43 miles (70 kilometers) on the Moon’s near-side hemisphere and 93 miles (150 kilometers) on the far-side. It is made of oxygen, silicon, magnesium, iron, calcium, and aluminum, with small amounts of titanium, uranium, thorium, potassium, and hydrogen.

Long ago the Moon had active volcanoes, but today they are all dormant and have not erupted for millions of years.

With too sparse an atmosphere to impede impacts, a steady rain of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets strikes the surface of the Moon, leaving numerous craters behind. Tycho Crater is more than 52 miles (85 kilometers) wide.

Over billions of years, these impacts have ground up the surface of the Moon into fragments ranging from huge boulders to powder. Nearly the entire Moon is covered by a rubble pile of charcoal-gray, powdery dust, and rocky debris called the lunar regolith. Beneath is a region of fractured bedrock referred to as the megaregolith.

The light areas of the Moon are known as the highlands. The dark features, called maria (Latin for seas), are impact basins that were filled with lava between 4.2 and 1.2 billion years ago. These light and dark areas represent rocks of different compositions and ages, which provide evidence for how the early crust may have crystallized from a lunar magma ocean. The craters themselves, which have been preserved for billions of years, provide an impact history for the Moon and other bodies in the inner solar system.

If you looked in the right places on the Moon, you would find pieces of equipment, American flags, and even a camera left behind by astronauts. While you were there, you'd notice that the gravity on the surface of the Moon is one-sixth of Earth's, which is why in footage of moonwalks, astronauts appear to almost bounce across the surface.

The temperature on the Moon reaches about 260 degrees Fahrenheit (127 degrees Celsius) when in full Sun, but in darkness, the temperatures plummet to about -280 degrees Fahrenheit (-173 degrees Celsius).

During the initial exploration of the Moon, and the analysis of all the returned samples from the Apollo and the Luna missions, we thought that the surface of the Moon was dry.

The first definitive discovery of water was made in 2008 by the Indian mission Chandrayaan-1, which detected hydroxyl molecules spread across the lunar surface and concentrated at the poles. Missions such as Lunar Prospector, LCROSS, and Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, have not only shown that the surface of the Moon has global hydration but there are actually high concentrations of ice water in the permanently shadowed regions of the lunar poles.

Scientists also found the lunar surface releases its water when the Moon is bombarded by micrometeoroids. The surface is protected by a layer, a few centimeters of dry soil that can only be breached by large micrometeoroids. When micrometeoroids impact the surface of the Moon, most of the material in the crater is vaporized. The shock wave carries enough energy to release the water that’s coating the grains of the soil. Most of that water is released into space.

In October 2020, NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) confirmed, for the first time, water on the sunlit surface of the Moon. This discovery indicates that water may be distributed across the lunar surface, and not limited to cold, shadowed places. SOFIA detected water molecules (H2O) in Clavius Crater, one of the largest craters visible from Earth, located in the Moon’s southern hemisphere.

The Moon has a very thin and weak atmosphere, called an exosphere. It does not provide any protection from the Sun's radiation or impacts from meteoroids.

The early Moon may have developed an internal dynamo, the mechanism for generating global magnetic fields for terrestrial planets, but today, the Moon has a very weak magnetic field. The magnetic field here on Earth is many thousands of times stronger than the Moon's magnetic field.

Earth’s Moon was born out of destruction.

Several theories about our Moon’s formation vie for dominance, but almost all share that point in common: near the time of the solar system’s formation, about 4.5 billion years ago, something ― perhaps a single object the size of Mars, perhaps a series of objects ― crashed into the young Earth and flung enough molten and vaporized debris into space to create the Moon.

WHAT IS THE DARK UNIVERSE??

Welcome back,

You and me, everything that we can touch and smell, and all planets, moons and stars are made of ‘normal’ matter. Normal matter consists of the elemental particles described in the famous Standard Model of particle physics. This includes quarks and electrons, which together form atoms.

We know that normal matter attracts other normal matter, depending on how much mass it has, via gravity. This force explains why apples fall towards the Earth. It also explains why the Earth revolves around the Sun, and the Sun orbits the centre of the Milky Way galaxy.

Surprisingly, normal matter turns out to be only a small fraction of what the Universe contains. 95% of the Universe is made up of dark matter and dark energy. These are words astronomers have come up with to give a name to the mysterious, invisible side of the Universe.

By studying many different galaxies, scientists discovered that stars in galaxies move faster around their galaxy centres than what the matter we see could account for.

On its own, normal matter would not be able to create enough gravity to hold these galaxies together. It’s no small difference: a typical galaxy’s missing mass is ten times larger than the mass of its visible stars!

Scientists can also tell that there is some unknown material in the space between galaxies, because its gravitational pull influences the path of starlight travelling towards Earth. Matter can act like a magnifying glass, bending and distorting light from galaxies and clusters behind it. This effect is called gravitational lensing.

Years of extensive observations have shown that the missing gravity is not caused by hard-to-see normal matter, such as for example cold hydrogen atoms. Instead, astronomers must look beyond what is known.

We call the missing mass ‘dark matter’ because it appears that it only interacts with light and normal matter via gravity. The most precise experiments so far have not found evidence of any other interactions. And despite decades of research, we still don’t know what dark matter is made of.

Euclid will make detailed observations of the Universe to infer how dark matter is distributed. It will determine how the structure of matter in the Universe changed over time and measure gravitational lensing effects. This will teach us about the behaviour of this mysterious component and provide new clues as to its identity.

An illustration of the Spindle of Necessity image from Plato’s Republic; at the centre is a straight pillar-like light, compared to a brighter a purer rainbow, which extends through the heavens and the earth. It takes the souls a whole day to fly to it after perceiving it for the first time. At the middle of the pillar, the girdle of the heavens is fastened, and the entire vault of heaven revolves around it. The Spindle of Necessity is at the heart of the cosmology and is said to be made from steel, with a shaft and a hook. Around it are eight whorls of decreasing size as they approach earth, which are perfect circles and represent the heavenly spheres.

The highest and largest whorl is the fixed stars. The second is Saturn, which is said to be yellow; the third is Venus, which has the whitest light; the fourth is Mars and is reddish; the fifth is Mercury, said to be yellow like Saturn; the sixth is Jupiter which is almost as white as Venus; the seventh is the sun, by far the brightest; and eighth is the moon, which shines with the reflected light of the sun. The spindle turns on the knees of the goddess Ananke, or Necessity. Each whorl has a siren on its upper surface who goes around with it and sings a single note. The three fates are also there, each siting on a throne, wearing white robes and chaplets, accompanying the harmony of the sirens. In the myth, Lachesis sings of the past, Clotho the present, Atropos the future. Clotho occasionally assists the rotation of the outer circles with her right hand, Atropos the inner with her left hand, and Lachesis touching either with alternating hands.

Mercury, the roman god aka hermes in greek symbolizes - Financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication (including divination), travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery, and thieves;

I like to associate the people on earth are the watchers who are ruining things for him, the one who created his misery in the first place.

Earth is a place full of life, Scar was associated with flowers this season, alot of flowers. He lived amongst a valley, a place full of life ( sunflower, berries, the enthusiasm around the area ), in here the people on earth is also associated with the other players, they ruined that home of his for their own gain

It can also mean of the fact no one expected him to win, neither did he. Because he was the embodiment of death's favourite. He was also meant to die in the end, but he didnt, its the irony.

This is also the farthest celestial body in the solar system, the farther one from the sun

Again, Grian as the sun, was there. The pluto being farthest does not mean its not revolving around the sun. It was there but it was never taken attention. This symbolize the fact, even apart they're somehow still connected

Liveblog: Wakfu Season 1 (episodes 13-18)

Episode 13 - Calm Blue Sea

It might be hard to believe now, but when I first watched the show, my favorite character was Nox.

I don't think about him often anymore, but I still really like him. This episode is one of the first ones where we get glimpses at his backstory, which is fun.

(Geez, I'm predictable for liking characters who are over a hundred years old and care a lot about their families...)

Another reason this episode is big is Soft Oak's death. 1. He's a lore character, I suppose, and 2. I like to headcanon that this is the reason Joris went to Sadida Kingdom.

It's just a silly little headcanon but to elaborate (and sadly, go a bit forward in terms of episodes):

Soft Oak was the friend of the tree of life.

2. Nox seems to have been a bigger issue for the world than shown in the series, considering the fact that Yugo says he's ravaged countries/other reasons.

Bonta and Sadida Kingdom seem to be on good terms — so it would be reasonable to assume that if Nox began going after great tree entities of the world, it would pose a threat to Sadida Kingdom. This opens the possibility that Joris was sent there for this reason, at the time of episode 13 or later.

The timing would also be appropriate — Joris arrives in Sadida Kingdom just a bit before the Brotherhood of Tofu. Though we do not know the route he took.

Chopsticks spotted...! At this point, I'm beginning to believe they're just very common in this world, and as widely used as forks and spoons.

Episode 14 - Moon Island

[guy who is mentally ill about fishing in this franchise voice] guys imagine Kerubim, Atcham, and Joris on a ship. Competing against one another in fishing.

I really like knowing all the various superstitions in this world because, y'know, Ecaflips love those doubly.

My honest reaction to this moment, as well as all moments involving the night sky and cosmos, in this franchise:

Episode 15 - Adamai

Do you think Adamai's bond with a crackler makes him more or less likely to fucking hate Joris in Waven times.

Rare "Eva Taking an L" moment. A real "You still believe the earth revolves around the sun at your age?" sort of line for her to say.

Episode 16 - The Eliacube

Adamai forgot to account for old man stupidity.

Even though I have issues with how his arc of descent into batshit insanity and subsequent redemption were handled, I do want to say that I have always thought that this + Grougal's death was when the darkness began to grow within him.

Episode 17 - Grougaloragran the Eternal

No commentary. This is a legendary episode.

Episode 18 - The Brotherhood of the Tofu

Please don't throw rocks at me, but I'm not the biggest fan of how Pinpin and Eva's relationship was handled. They're cute together, but the decision to give them drama the second their relationship became canon was a bit... jarring, on the first viewing.
