For why does this fandom have the nasty habit of drawing Frank either as a skinny k-pop idol or like he takes 500 different steroids every other hour??? "But Mars blessing made him super buff-" I'm going to stop you RIGHT THERE. If you read The Tyrants Tomb, Trials of Apollo, then you'd KNOW that he's STILL FAT only with muscle this time. In my digital copy of this book pages 74-75 chapter 5, Apollo/Lester describes Frank(experts of the text below) as "larger"(aka FAT) and more muscular.

FRANK IS STILL FAT. HE WAS ALWAYS FAT. So, dear riordanverse fandom, why the hell are so many of you guys allergic to drawing Frank with fat? He's canonically fat and strong. ALSO body builders aren't actually strong they're MODELS. If you search up "strong men competition" online you'll find that every man who's taking part in the competition has FAT. You want to know why? BECAUSE FAT MAKES YOU STRONGER!! YOU NEED FAT TO BE STRONG, GUYS! SO why are some of you drawing him with a body builder body. So PLEASE PLEASEE draw Frank with his fat. I'm literally BEGGING you all to just give my son his fat back. I like this fandom, but I love Frank more. Put some RESPECTTT on his name and draw him with his proper body type. If you don't know where to start, you can look at the people who participate in strong men competitions and study their bodies. Frank's body is more aligned to be like theirs.

I'm just feeling this song today. I just can't seem to focus on anything right now. My Dad is forcing me to go on vacation but if I go, I could lose my unemployment benefits. My Dad is very much a control freak and blames all the decisions I make on my Mom thinking she's influencing my choices when I am a grown adult. And I cannot stand my StepMom. My StepSister is ok, but she does not control her daughter and I will be forced to babysit. I'm also working towards Photoshop certifications and trying to get a job so 5 days is just too long to be away from that. I know the place we're going could be fun but not while all of this is going on.

There is an artificially narrowing gap between tagging etiquette and tagging requirements per archive of our own’s terms of service and we need to talk about it more. 

There is a massive difference between “this fic is objectively missing warnings or tags as required by the site“ and “this fic is missing tags that I would like or expect to see.” 

Whether or not you or I agree (or disagree), as it stands, every tag that is added in the additional tags category is 100% optional and not required. A fic could be posted with zero additional tags and it would be 100% compliant with archive and site guidelines. 

When we give feedback to authors, we need to be very careful when we use the words missing or tagged incorrectly. The tone here matters. There is nothing wrong with the fic. However, the tagging might not follow your fandom’s etiquette. There might be a tag that you do not enjoy seeing that isn’t tagged there. There might be a tag that provides clarity and context. 

Please, for the love of God, stop reporting fics like this that don’t actually break terms of service for “under tagging.”

gjoing fucking insane over mumbo's new video like goth mumbo and punk babe mumbo were funny of course but the work he's put into his town??? he has a lesbian couple!! jill and bill!!! the auction and the juggling and people on stairs and people having conversations !! the details and interactions !!! god his town is so beautiful and diverse and it's amazing to see him so happy with it because it is realky beautiful and full of life !! i'm so incredibly normal about this "small" build he's made (small relative to others) and i love the fact that he's branched off into narrative building because it plays into his strengths as a film maker !! it's beautiful and amazing and i'm here for it

ants are genuinely so chill.

i don’t understand where this immense fear of ants we have in our society comes from. ants, wasps, bugs in general.

literlly slow down and take two seconds to allow them to exist in your world and you’ll see how wonderful and sweet and curious they are.

i have a whole bunch of twig ants in my room. no idea where they came from - but we don’t use pest control so we have lots of bugs around.

they are the sweetest gentlest babies in the entire world. they come and hang out with me while i’m at my computer, running over my hands and my mouse. i give them drops of water and they sniff out the juice in my cup if i have any.

what is so interesting to me, is that in the past few years i’ve spent seeking out bugs as much as i can - i’ve been bitten by an ant maybe… three times? and each time was when they had gotten caught in my clothing and got scared.

there’s this table on my campus that is always covered in ants. hardly anyone sits there because of it. but they just like…. don’t do anything?? i sit there all the time and i’ve only ever been bitten ONCE sitting at that table, when a poor little ant got stuck under my sock and was scared.

don’t get me wrong, i completely understand fearing wasps or ants due to allergies. that i understand.

it’s when it’s just the simple fear of them existing, that i don’t understand. seriously, when you don’t put your whole damn foot in their nest or spray their hive with a hose, they’re just chill.

they’re so sweet, they’re so curious, they’re so chill.

ants and wasps and all bugs deserve so much more love than they get. Please PLEASE PLEASE give your local buggies some love today 🐜🐜

The way Buck is treated is absolutely heartbreaking.

On the surface yes, maybe the 118 does look like a found family unit. And most of them have a good family bond with one another. But not with Buck. (Long rant below the cut)

Buck has the biggest heart out of anyone on the show. He is constantly going out of his way to help people. This is particularly prominent with Eddie, but he does this for so many characters.

He lets Hen, Eddie and Chim stay with him during the lockdown, never asks them to help pay rent, and then later lets Albert stay with him with no complaint.

He is constantly babysitting Chris and later Jee while their respective parents go do other things, and while he clearly loves spending time with them this is definitely a massive favor on his part because babysitting kids is hard work.

He is always there to support them when they need it.

He’s the one that prompts them to check on Bobby in season 1.

He is there for Chim as best he can when Maddie leaves.

When Maddie shows up at his apartment in Season 2 he doesn’t get angry with her for essentially breaking into his home and helping herself to a bottle of wine. And instead helps her settle down with a safe new job and becomes her shoulder to cry on during this period.

He drops everything when Eddie asks for his help, when Eddie mentions issues with childcare and paperwork for Chris Buck introduces him to Carla.

When Eddie has to bring Chris to the station Buck calls ahead so Bobby can get permission.

When Eddie gets shot Buck takes over Chris’s care without prompting.

When Eddie has issues with parenting Chris he calls Buck for help and Buck helps.

When Eddie has a meltdown and takes a bat to the wall, not only does Buck drop everything and run to help him, he also goes further by taking eddie to see the kid they saved the day he was shot.

Whenever Eddie needed anything Buck was there.

When Eddie desperately needed a sub letter so that he could move Buck went and took over the lease.

When he found out Eddie was moving he went and did what he could to help him despite being devastated.

Whenever anyone needed anything, Buck was there. And Buck was always happy to do it.

But when Buck was feeling abandoned after the embolism no one reached out, instead Eddie dumped Chris on him under the pretense of getting him out and about and stop moping for the day.

When Maddie left, no one thought to ask Buck how he was doing. Instead they focused entirely on Chim. And when Chim punched Buck no one at any point stood up for Buck, instead going on about how Chim is under a lot of distress right now as though Buck isn’t also feeling the loss and worry of his Sister up and leaving.

When Buck filed the lawsuit they almost all immediately went and put all the blame on Buck. Hen was the only one to point out that they were all Buck had, that he had no other family outside the 118. Despite that they still punished him, Eddie taking his anger out on Buck because the lawsuit meant Buck couldn’t bail him out and he couldn’t spend time with Chris and never once saying he missed Buck too. He was pissed because Buck couldn’t drop everything and help him. He was accused of being reckless and impulsive and using their own issues for his own gain and for being selfish and stupid and exhausting despite the fact that he was being treated unfairly. He was hurt, and alone and just needed a hug.

When Buck found out about Daniel and distanced himself from Maddie, Chimney started borderline harassing Buck trying to get him to talk to her, despite a) Buck having had a major bombshell dropped on him, getting his entire life put into a new perspective based on this information, and finding out why his parents treated him the way they did and so needing to process, and B) Buck repeatedly setting boundaries and saying he needed space to process and he’d talk to Maddie when he was ready. Chimney completely ignores Buck’s boundaries as though what Buck needs or wants doesn’t matter because Maddie is upset and wants to talk to him, and only her desires and emotional well being have any level of importance and despite asking for space she literally ambushes him at work to force a conversation he is not ready for. And no one else tries telling Chim to leave Buck alone, and then Eddie only has a half assed conversation with Buck despite being his so called best friend, where he basically dismisses Buck’s feelings and tells him he’s over reacting.

When Eddie was leaving and Buck was upset he was repeatedly accused of making it about himself, being selfish, unreasonable, unsupportive and a jerk when he literally just found out from nowhere that Eddie made a down payment just overheard his best friend basically dismiss their friendship (“I have no ties here, everything that matters is in Texas”) he gets judged and berated for being upset, as though he’s not allowed to have feelings, and when he tries to apologize for his snarkiness gets once again berated and when he finally tells Eddie that he took over the lease and thus he can move, aka the ultimate supportive action, not once does Eddie apologize.

When Buck breaks up with Tommy no one bothers to really check in with him on a deeper level, instead they dismiss his wants by stealing his phone so that he can’t call him and then no one brings it up again despite him clearly still being devastated for every following episode.

When Buck gets SA’d by the therapist he is immediately getting made fun of, and accused of being a manwhore and essentially blamed for being assaulted. No one ever, not once, bothers to wonder if he’s doing alright.

And when Buck is still waiting for Abby to come back rather than being supportive or anything like that he gets laughed at for living in his girlfriend’s apartment and being dumb enough to think she’ll come back.

When Eddie gets a new friend he immediately starts spending all his free time with that friend and never inviting Buck, even if they were planning something Buck would enjoy, instead asking if Buck can babysit (his kid is 14/15 at this point and just because he has CP I still think he can spend a couple of hours home alone. He’s not bedridden or anything.) and basically ignoring his supposed best friend in favor of his shiny new friend.

Whenever Buck needed anything he was laughed at, belittled and dismissed. They constantly take advantage of his kindness. Buck gives and gives and gives to them and gets nothing back. He is only wanted when he can be useful and when they need him. They take and take and take and the second Buck needs even a small amount of empathy or help he gets accused of being selfish, needy, exhausting, of making everything about him, of overreacting. He is essentially told, over and over that he is not allowed to have feelings or boundaries. He is not allowed to need help he can only give help. He is only valued when he can do something for someone else and godforbid he ever ask for the same consideration because otherwise he’s being needy. He makes everyone else his priority and never is he anyone’s priority in return.

Until Tommy anyway, he finally had someone who would take care of him, who acknowledged his feelings and showed him they were valid, who clearly adored all of Buck and never asked him for anything and indulged in his quirks and who was happy to be there for him, who complimented him and who overall clearly adored Buck. Even before they were dating when Tommy saw that Buck clearly was feeling left out he went over to his place to apologize, despite not actually doing anything wrong himself.

I seriously think that if Tommy saw how they all treated Buck he’d lose the delusion that they are basically a family really fast and promptly get pissed on Buck’s behalf. He’d also do everything in his power to help Buck realize that he matters as a person.

Wanted to do some art of @circusinarun's swap AU of warrior Penelope (here). I want to do art and so much other stuff for the EPIC musical in general (especially since the last saga is so soon RAH), because it got me back into mythology. But I don't think I'll be doing any until after it's over.

But that doesn't mean I can't do AUs! (Hope you don't mind I used my ver. of Ares for this Kobi; it let me figure out more of his design like changing his helmet)

. . . they are best friends, right? They probably aren't, but Ares isn't that well liked by the other gods, so I think him being best friends with Penelope would be cute! Idk, it's probably me just being a fan of Ares that I don't want him to be friendless lmao.

I'm so curious on how this AU would flow, you know? Like, is Calypso a human in this AU that replaces Antinous in Little Wolf; and if so, who's on Antinous Island (don’t mind this question I can’t read)? Does Calypso trap Penelope there, if she is a goddess (ignore this too I still can’t read)? Who would Ares argue with in place of Aphrodite, or would she be in the challenge of God Games anyway? I'm assuming Eurylochus is replaced by his wife Ctimene, but is Polites in the same role?

It's a lot of questions that aren't that serious, it's just a fun AU, but I'm a curious person who loves details. I especially like thinking about how God Games would go, since no one really likes Ares other than his family, lover, and those who associate with him like Eris. It'd be on hard mode for him and it makes me sad to think about, yet so intrigued on how he'd convince them all; especially Hephaestus and Athena, but I feel like she wouldn't be so hard to convince... just stubborn against her brother to agree.

i really do think there’s a huge disconnect on here w/ people who have never used tiktok as to what it actually is and who actually uses it. the number of people i’ve seen call it a “teen dancing app” is actually insane. it has not been a teen dancing app since i was in high school, around 2016 - 2020. the main communities i saw on a daily basis were 1) black history/anti-racism educators, 2) high school & college teachers sharing in-classroom strategies and frustrations with the education system, 3) local/state political leaders giving real-time updates on behind-the-scenes government decisions, & 4) community activism & leadership. like tiktok is an adult platform. almost every person i interacted with was my age or older. and yes it completely depends on your fyp and how you interact with the app, yes there’s still teenagers and dance videos and literally anything else you can think of. but these communities of adults aren’t insubstantial at all, they have literally millions of interactions on a daily basis. there’s about a million other types of communities that i could name just off the top of my head, because the range of users was SO diverse and thriving. it’s a long-distance community tool, just like any other social media—and honestly much better than any other social media, because it relies primarily on the kindness of strangers. i saw at least 5-10 videos today of queer people in rural areas panicking because they don’t have any access to queer community on any other platform or in real life. and before i end this i do want to say i think tiktok is coming back, i think this is a highly orchestrated political move, etc., but i do know it won’t ever be exactly the same. people are panicking about free speech violations because tiktok was a place where people fucking SPEAK. i have never seen mass mobilization and communication in this same way for as long as i’ve been alive. it is the people’s app, not just a silly teenage thing. if you’re not on tiktok and never have been, please stop talking about it like you know anything at all😭
