Pulp swap au: Rose Stratford and Sia Laplace

Daughter of the astronomer Pierre-Simon Laplace, Sia has followed her father's footstep and has a bright career in the field of astronomy. Besides her research of the skies, Sia continues with her father's theories on casual determinism, a philosophical view that states that every event has been caused by a previous event. She is not happy once she finds about the Cavendish hoax, and will go to confront them to New York.

Sia deserves a situationship with Margaret + the sillies of the main cast adventures. Plus, I think making her the daughter of the guy who invented casual determinism is close enough to the visions, and will be really intersting to shatter her worldviews through magic.

On the other hand, we have Rose Stratford, patron of the Cavendish. She is an author too, and publishes stories under the pseudonim S. Stratford. Her work are mostly short stories and poems of the Romanticism, with exaltated sensations and the environment as a metaphor of one's feelings. However, those who read them notice a loneliness and longing that few authors manage to capture.

When Rose reads the Cavendish stories, she feels a connection with them, and offers them as much help as they may need.

Rose gets to be a little gnc in this au, as a treat. May use she/he pronouns for her, idk yet. But also, the idea of Rose being a Romantic author? And the angst pontential we have with her and Samuel and John? I am so excited to work with her.

the reason why gegg didn't show up for the 3rd debate (lorewise) is that he had much bigger plans to deal with

namely the other person he had to share his mortal form with

gegg seems to have accumulated more than enough power over charlie, so it's only a matter of time before gegg attempts a split. sure, charlie's his presidential manager and shit, but gegg doesn't need someone to do what he can do himself

so on the day of the 3rd debate, gegg gives charlie a note to say that he won't make it, which charlie spreads. people and sad, boohoo, but its all part of the plan

while the debate goes on, gegg, on the eggxile island, makes his move. he splits from charlie successfully, gaining a body all to himself and still capable of geggtosis

however, charlie recieves the painful end of this dulled knife, as gegg takes away most, if not all of charlies memories in order to become president and eventually bring the island into geggarchy. charlie is left, quite like gegg, as a child, mentally and maybe even physically since gegg also takes at least half of charlie's body mass to create his separate form

then comes cucurucho. sent by the federation when they noticed gegg split from charlie. the bear breaks down charlie's door, down the ladder to the basement, but doesn't find charlie or gegg. until it sees the small child rooting through a chest that looks suspiciously like charlie. it goes through the motions, momentarily scares the kid before he clings onto the bear like a company mascot and babbles something that is definitely not a human language

meanwhile gegg is being gegg without the shackles of charlie slimecicle holding him down

back in the house, cucurucho just stealing the idiot child and bringing him to the federation for reasons i haven't made up yet and just turning charlie into part of the federation or some shit idk how things work

also i don't know what's happening with the jaiden-cucurucho thing so cucurucho just appearing to jaiden with smol charlie and giving her a book like "this is your brother now." before patting her on the head and saying i hope you enjoy the island and jaiden is just like "is that charlie?????" while charlie just babbles and probably says fuck he seems like a child whose first (english) word was a swear

I had such a cute little discussion with my family today about impactful song lyrics so I'm gonna tell you mine. The lyrics I think about the most are "sometimes, sometimes bones are wrong" from the song Betrayed By Bones by Hellogoodbye. Although the song is explicitly about a romantic relationship, I interpret the lyric more as an allegory for refusing to let things like your biology, your genetics, your upbringing or anything out of your control determine your choices for you. I love the idea that there may be something innate and unchangeable about you that's steering you to a pathway that no longer fits and both acknowledging that it doesn't fit and striving to change despite all those factors going against you. Last year I did my thesis on Postcolonial Ecofeminist Literature in the South Pacific and I feel like that has really moved and changed me^^

There are so little references to Oceania in media I knew I wanted to use some of my knowledge to create a character from the Pacific😭 Kai was originally going to be either Maori, Samoan or Hawaiian (the three areas I investigated).

I feel like Samoan societal ideals (such as Faʻa Sāmoa, the Samoan way) are really interesting when analysing Kai^^

For anyone interested I plan on doing my Master's thesis on the Representation of Female Neurosis in Media🏃‍♀️
