do skully have pokemon?
Pumpkaboo is the obvious one, but y'know, sometimes the obvious one is the right one! (we'll say SUPER SIZE Pumpkaboo, just for fun. big pumpkin for big skeleton boy.) and another person actually also suggested Greavard, which I somehow hadn't considered, but feels so perfect that I feel like I should have. dangit.
(they can also have little Nightmare Suit costumes :D)

People when a character is aromantic or aromantic coded: Wowie! They’re aroACE! Because they aren’t interested in romance! Look at how aroace they are!
People when a character is aroace or aroace coded: Isn’t it cool that this character is asexual? Asexual icon! They’re such great asexual representation :)
#aro#aromantic#ace#asexual#aroace#alloaro#it feels like there’s this weird mindset of#if a character is aro then they MUST be ace too#and if they’re aroace then the ace part is all that matters!#and of course aplatonicism is never even mentioned as a possibility in fandom spaces (even with characters like Saiki who is apl coded af)#hell. even with real life people who have come out as aromantic#if someone comes out as aromantic they’re assumed to be asexual as well#and if someone is openly aroace it’s very common that people emphasize the ace part over the aro part#and while I get that some people do talk more about their asexuality than their aromanticism#it’s still weird to me that like#for example#Yasmin Benoit is one of the most prolific aromantic activists AND one of the most prolific asexual activists#yet I rarely ever see people mention that she’s aromantic or aroace. Everyone always just says “oh she’s asexual” and leaves it at that#her aromantic activism seems to just get ignored even with how much of it she’s done#when trying to find news sources talking about aromanticism for a research project about half of them were interviews#with Yasmin Benoit! she’s done so much work for the aromantic community#yet even in her Wikipedia article which describes her as an “asexual and aromantic activist” in the very first sentence#the section on her activism doesn’t include the words aromantic or aromanticism even ONCE.#like. yeah she does emphasize her asexuality a lot more than her aromanticism. but her aromantic activism should be acknowledged too

The fact that Voyager is still running holodecks is not talked about enough, because excuse me whAT. They are rationing food and replicator use. They close down a whole deck to save energy. And they're RUNNING HOLODECKS? Deeply unserious space fleet. Honestly shocking that there wasn't a holodeck on the Defiant. How did Trek humans even won any wars with that crippling holodeck addiction

there is interesting johndean subtext and insinuations across kripke era, usually through an antagonist insinuating parent-child sexual violence in order to exert dominance over dean. this type of mockery exploits that ambiguous relationship between john and dean and reminds dean that he never had a normal relationship with his father, and that makes him gross and wrong. it doesn't actually matter in the end whether john was sexually abusive to dean. the core of their relationship was damning enough: dean was made to take the place of john's wife—to comfort john and raise sam—while simultaneously being his son. the codependent nature of their relationship implies the incest that underscores their dynamic. again, this is regardless of what literally occurred between dean and john because there is enough doubt toward the nature of their relationship that multiple antagonists can use it against them.
sonwife, brotherhusband—dean is stuck in a liminal space between family and lover and is unable to put his feet firmly on just one side and instead has to accept both together or abandon both together. he doesn't get to have a relationship with his family without it being simultaneously incestuous. he plays the role of wife to john and mother to sam as mary's replacement; he therefore becomes more than a son and transcends the boundaries of the familial into the incestuous. it's baked into the dynamic and he can't hope to escape the liminality in which he's stuck without abandoning his entire family altogether.
this ambiguous relationship is further acted out with sam, where people perceive them as lovers rather than brothers; where their mutual devotion trumps, neglects, and disallows any other close relationship outside each other; where their physical closeness is viewed through an unusually sexual lens despite no literal sex acts between them taking place on screen. once again dean is stuck in a liminal space, paralleling the ambiguous and uncertain relationship he had with john.
in the end, sex (and sexual violence) is just a symbol of this codependency and uncertainly incestuous dynamic. sex acts in kripke era end up being symbolic: misinterpretations of sam and dean's relationship; accusations of sexual violence; literal, on-screen sexual moments between the brothers and someone else. it's a literary device that highlights the incestuous themes of the show. dean hand-picks women for sam to fuck because it allows dean to be symbolically part of sam's sex life. henricksen accuses john of raping dean because it is a symbol of the unhealthy, codependent relationship dean had with his father. the samulet stays on during sex because sam is symbolically integral to dean's sexual gratification (seen too in the way both dean and cassie in 1.13 appear to kiss the amulet at least once in the dark room). sex is used to signify more than what's literally on the screen, and the connections between the literal sex acts and the blurred lines of dean's familial relationships allow for a reading of incest between both john and dean and sam and dean.
it never mattered whether johndean or samdean had a sexual relationship in the canon because that was never the point. the point is the liminality that permeates the narrative. sam, dean, and john all stand upon a threshold between acceptable and taboo. the point of it all is the doubt and anxiety, the are-they-aren't-they that is never answered. the absence of incest within the text invites the understanding that the incest was, in fact, always there.

You know, I've realized the interesting thing about "gay people date people who look just like them!" is that I did that myself but for a specific reason that I think is common in gay spaces
I think when you're gay or queer, your internal sense of what 'is' attractive has to be remapped. It's hard sometimes to signal that you both are attracted to someone in a gay way while also saying that you want to be found attractive. As a young kid, I knew what 'is' attracted ve for a straight guy to do - I generally know how to signal to women that I'm interested in them and also want them to be interested in me. But with other guys? Uncharted territory in many ways because society doesn't teach you what's attractive and how to signal your desires for gay people like they do straight people. When I found this out, I figured that my best option was just to see what I found attractive in guys and then I just emulated that because people are most attracted to people they are more similar to.
In some ways, this has been helpful. I started finding myself more attractive because I was able to use other people as inspiration and I knew that I would be attractive for it because I already found that attractive. It was reassuring to know that I didn't need to second-guess if something was attractive because I was already shown that it is. However, there's this weird feeling of knowing that you can't even be conditioned by society as a whole because they don't even know or care you exist. You're conditioned to understand what 'is' attractive for a man or woman in an opposite-sex relationship. I guess it just reminds me, "hey, you're different!" and that can sometimes bother me just because it gives rise to the anxiety that I won't have a frictionless life.
I'm definitely not saying that this is universal, but looking back on my own experiences, I was very intentional with this. And I don't even think this is 100% right, either, because I also do want to be the more traditionally-masculine person. It's complicated sometimes.
#gay#queer#lgbt#lgbtq#also yes straight people do get incorrect messaging about what the opposite gender likes...#...not a lot of women want a super masc meathead. i'm in plenty of straight spaces and it's not a super common preference...#...but media targeted at men would condition you to think that women FAWN over that and would fight tooth and nail to be with you...#...my observation is not about accuracy but about prevalence and availability...#...when you actually *GET* messaging you have a baseline to work off of...#...i *got* messaging about what i 'should' strive for in a straight relationship. i never got nearly that same messaging about gay ones...#...and i think that difference really influenced how i grew up and interacted with things like societal messaging#because i - in part - have literally experienced a *lack* of messaging from society about something#and when societies will stick their business in everything *but* a certain group of people i think that says something#i feel like the right people will understand what i'm talking about#i'm in gay and straight spaces (for obvious reasons) and the difference is stark#i feel like i have a path to follow when i'm in straight spaces. it's predictable because we're more or less on the same page...#...in gay spaces we are *all* coming from WIDELY different backgrounds and very *very* few of us are on the same page in the same way#if sociology paid better in this country you would have to pry me away from a doctorate in it

Prompt 252
“Sir, we’ve… There’s been an encounter with a Reaper class entity.”
There were several classifications for ecto-entities. Several ways the Ghost Investigation Ward classified each. Several common ones that they could easily destroy, easily study. Others however… others were dangerous. Incredibly dangerous.
There’d only been two other Reaper-class entities confirmed before- both contained but barely. RP-1, a large knight-like entity seemingly made from shadows, and RP-2, a child-like creature that could near perfectly mimic a human.
And now, there was a third. A third entity that could- and judging from the reports coming in had- killed. Had done so several times even. Which meant it needed to be contained yesterday.
“Send out the teams- I want this thing in Site X Now!”

I just thought of some very good dialogue between Crosshair and Echo and now I am tempted to write a fic of them in the very beginning after Echo first joins where Echo is just so stubbornly persistent and Crosshair is Crosshair-ing in the most 'walls up, let no one in' kind of way and it doesn't even need to have a plot it just needs to exist

Arcane is an ensemble show. There are a number of main characters. And so, in order to fully appreciate the story, you have to therefore fully engage with every character’s arc.
This can sometimes be tricky when you feel an emotional connection to one character (or characters) over another/others. This could also be influenced by other factors in your life. Art is subjective, and we have subjective/personal reactions to art.
But it’s fulfilling to set that aside, if it can be, if you want to, and open yourself up to watching and engaging with stories which might not initially click, but which are a puzzle piece crucial to understanding the whole story. And may offer you as the viewer a greater perspective.
Especially because Arcane is character driven. It is through the characters that we understand the wider context (e.g. the Piltover/Zaun conflict). To engage with the characters is to understand how they engage with their wider context and why.
To come at something like Arcane only taking on one (or a few) character’s perspective(s) is to not fully understand the entire narrative, and that is, where I believe, misunderstanding can occur.
Any maybe, if you thought you did understand a character’s perspective, but are then confused by the choices they make in the narrative, re-evaluation is useful. The context within which the characters are acting is seriously complex. It is not good vs evil, black and white. Everyone is so human, i.e. so complex.
The meanings and motives and emotions which drive character’s actions and the establish their context is as rich and layered as a gateau. The wider context of the world in which they exist is exactly the same. To come from just one perspective, one side, is to miss whole other aspects of the story, and that seems like such a shame (and tbh is incredibly ironic).
I by no means wish to tell anyone how to engage with art, and right now I do feel like I’m just pointing out the obvious! I’m just another fan who has been thinking on this for a time and come to this conclusion about what could be causing such divisive opinions/arguments/criticisms. This is also not to say that the show is perfect- art is subjective, as is the idea of ‘perfection,’ so nothing can be called ‘perfect’ imo. But it is fascinating to watch, and challenging at times. And so worth taking in as a whole.
Thanks for your time.

Honestly I know the medieval Hype is about knights but I feel like we are forgetting that monasteries, if you didn't go into those with a benedictine rule or something, were places that the nobles put their sons and daughters in and were generally considered pretty opulent. Like I know the idea we have is of benedictine or augustine ora et labora type deal but I know some of them must have been Great places to live in

Eggman: "The reactor core's overloading. It's only a matter of time before it blows."
SCENES I WISH WERE EXISTED IN SONIC MOVIE 3 part 3
Part 1 | Part 2
This was based on my own review. Specifically this part:
"Dang, Shadow was callous. He just let Sonic fall to the earth! I mean... at least let him try to save him for a bit or something. Then Knuckles and Tails appeared, telling Shadow to focused on the Eclipse Canon for now while they handle Sonic. This way, we could see that Shadow did try to establish a camaraderie with Sonic. That he did try to forgive and change."
You can read my review HERE
If they don't wanna give me Shadow's reaction when he saw Sonic fall to the earth, then fine. I'll do it myself 😤
