Anatomical studies!
So, there was a line in TMNT’03 when Raph complains about his ribs that got me thinking, isn’t a turtles shell their ribs?
So, I did a little looking into the skeletal structure of turtles and how it might apply to the brothers, particularly the Rise brothers as they’re all different species. Here’s the little chart of common bone and scute patterns, and some speculation on how their reptilian features affects them!
I’ll post my individual skeletal studies after!

New Tumblr Community for Animal Bodies!
My Tumblr community, "Animals, Dead and Alive" is up and running! Looks like only up to 500 people can join. Frankly I'm not 100% sure if/how it's going to go, but go ahead and make some posts there if you feel inclined.
EDIT: apparently you have to be invited. Comment on this and I’ll invite you!

Okay, so, I wanna start making comics. I'll start with that. I do well with story writing but, I can't draw backgrounds and, there seems to be more struggles than not when trying to draw movement. Got any tips? I've done studies for small things, but I would love to hear what other things I can do to better the comic
Thanks!
Hi! I'm happy to give advice, even if practice is what really helps the most, I say this often but it really is what makes the difference
Regarding comics, I have not done specific studies on it, simply over the years I have developed comics following my personal taste, but I can tell you what has helped me the most:
Reading and observing great authors, whether comics or manga, you can choose according to your personal taste. This helps understanding how to follow a logical thread between the panels
To improve with backgrounds, however, I recommend studying perspective in depth, everything related to art revolves around perspective, even anatomy.
Studying the basic perspectives is the first step, then you can start applying them in your drawings. Starting with basic perspectives and inserting parallelepipeds is what will help you understand how three-dimensional a flat sheet can become
To improve anatomical dynamics, I recommend looking at many photos and trying to extract their structure. Once you have learned and practiced a lot you will also be able to invent your own poses
But above all "Practice", lots of practice ☺️
I hope I was helpful! 💖

i feel like the knowledge that there are some medical databases with free-to-use 3D scans of various human organs available for 3D printing would have drastically reduced tumblrs amount of bone stealing scandals. plus you can make ones that glow in the dark.

I'd like to introduce to everyone this horrid thing I created about a year ago but haven't shown many people yet (probably for the best).
This is Baby. AKA The Monster. AKA Sight Tremendous and Abhorred, AKA Vile Insect, AKA A Thing Such As Even Dante Could Not Have Conceived, etc, etc. It's made from bits of scrap fabric I scrounged from various sources and is roughly the size of a human toddler. Its design is based on Mary Shelly's original descriptions of Frankenstein's creature.
But that's not all! Behold!
You can dissect this little abomination to reveal a full set of crocheted, knitted, and scrap fabric organs, all hand-stitched by yours truly!
It has a heart, stomach, lungs, liver, small and large intestine, kidneys, bladder, and, of course, a brain! So it can ponder the horrors of its own existence!
I used this pattern by Less Than Three for the heart. I ended up felting it because I screwed up most of the stitches (I was relatively new to crochet at the time). The result was a bit of a blobby mess, but oh well.
So yeah. This thing lives in my house now (my family hates it). I have yet to reap the full consequences of my hubris.
