Hoping I'm not the only one loving all these different pieces of media and fandoms !!
It's so funny to me to see how the dynamics are different but at the same time they are all just some guys that can't speak and say "look I love you let's become a couple and stop all this complicated long situationship shit"
ykw, romantic destiel is fun and all, but have yall considered QPR destiel??
because to me, in My head (as the coolest and silliest aroace around), a queer platonic relationship is "not quite romantic, not quite platonic, but a cooler secret third thing that is only for us and maybe won't make sense to many if anyone else" - which like,, I think fits destiel soo much better
(and maybe I just wanna spread my demiro/ace!Dean & aro/grayace!Cas propaganda....)
it’s ace week so i wanted to bring back this drawing because i was working on this drawing while i was working some things out about my asexuality and it’s very personal to me
Thinking about Dean's motif of corruption. "The very touch of you corrupts". Heaven, and Dean himself, see this corruption as rot. Hellfire. Moral decay, and, inevitably, destruction.
However, "corruption" can have other meanings, especially when defined by spn's (or most modern versions of) Heaven. "The very touch of you corrupts" when Cas first touched Dean, something took root. Dean's love, his protectiveness, the rugged life he was more or less forced into, his stubborn insistence, against all odds and in all circumstances, to prioritize family, food, hearth, a safe place to sleep and a planet that won't fall apart on him. Those roots spread- but not in any evil sense.
Tree roots.
Strong and unrelenting and vibrantly green, fed on tears, soil, blood, ash and salt, and on red meat and love. Wriggling through the cracks in Cas' celestial being, curling around the divine light and leaving rich earth behind it. Is it corruption? Is it decay? Yes. But nothing, angel or demon or antichrist or anything else, that Dean touches can help but become a creature of Earth. Most humans don't notice, humans are already Earthly beings, and most monsters are as well. Angels though?
Heaven and Hell are two sides of the same coin. The opposite of both is Earth- Earth with no care given to an afterlife, kindness and love existing for its own sake, no hypotheticals. Dirt, rot, messiness, food, hunger, tiredness, laughter, love.
and that scares the SHIT out of Heaven
they've seen angels fall, either living as humans or truly Falling, their grace charred and covered by hellfire
they've never seen one turn into a physical being before. even an angel reborn as a human is still an angel. Cas isn't becoming human. He's still an angel, but-
if the other angels can see the roots piercing through his true form, churning through grace like a sapling in new soil
what other word would they have but "corruption"?
(obligatory SAM IS NOT EXCEMPT FROM THIS. HE'S ALSO WEIRD THIS WAY follow-up bc yall will just hate Sam for no reason istg)
More Than One Ace to Play by Cozaure
Rating: Teen and Up
Word Count: 57k
Cas, a 3rd-year biology student, is an introverted and very anxious guy. Full of insecurities, he doesn't need to add one more thing to worry about in his life (and certainly not his potential "asexuality"). However, one day, he meets Dean at a poker night his roommate Balthazar is hosting.
Dean is Cas’ exact opposite : easy-going, confident, funny… and also, very flirty. They keep bumping into each other around the campus and, somehow, every time Cas is with Dean, all of his worries seem to go away…
However, when Cas learns about Dean’s reputation as “the master of one-night stands”, he is certain that they are DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY not compatible. Or, are they?
We’re back at it with another college AU. More Than One Ace to Play caught my eye thanks to the asexual!Cas tag. Always on the lookout for any ace rep, this fic didn’t disappoint even a little. One of the things I loved about it was how much it embraced Cas’s journey with figuring out his sexuality beyond knowing for sure that he’s gay. Not only does he come to terms with who he is, but he does so all while battling his anxiety, the portrayal of which I found accurate and compelling with the way the author wrote it.
This story is told from Cas’s POV, but with that comes a great depiction of Dean as an easy-going college student, living a pretty damn good life when he meets Cas at poker night. The magic of fanfic finds them volunteering for the same program where they are immediately paired up as partners hosting afternoon activities and tutoring with young kids. They become fast friends and even though Cas doubts it at every turn, we the reader can tell Dean is interested in being more than just friends with Cas, even if they think it’s for different reasons. You can’t help but fall for Dean a little too, when he stumbles his way through asking Cas out on a date that Cas is convinced isn’t a date. You feel for Cas as his anxiety dictates his doubt in Dean’s flirting, and, as tagged, Dean’s constant winks. When they finally figure it all out, you’ll be just as relieved and delighted at the outcome, a very satisfying happy ending you shouldn’t skip.

i’m honestly the worst person to watch supernatural with cus dean will beat tf outta some monster and i’ll say some shit like “damn if that were me i’d thank him”
Sam who's always been some degree of acespec but since the cage has been more towards the sex repulsed part of the spectrum, except under very specific circumstances that most of the time frankly he doesn't have to time or energy or inclination to engage in.
Sam who nonetheless misses the intimacy sex gave him with a partner. Sam who finds that doing strange medical experiments with Cas feels both more intimate than anything he's ever done with anyone else, and also somehow safer than sex feels even though objectively that is not the case.
Cas who is ace, and though he's had sex largely finds the process overly complicated and not all it was cracked up to be. Cas who finds doing strange medical experiments with Sam significantly more straightforward and much more intellectually stimulating.
Dean who walks into the library and overhears Sam say to Cas "do you want me to help test that theory you had?" and then watches them disappear to Sam's room and not re-emerge for an hour, looking noticeably disheveled.
Dean who just assumes they are fucking and makes extremely unsubtle jokes about it for the next week.
Sam and Cas who can't be bothered to dissuade him of the idea, it's probably simpler that way.
