I go to an art school (unfortunately) and have class from 8:30am-5pm on a normal day; I'm in production & design conservatory which is basically just running everything behind the scenes of live theater, everything you see and hear in a show that's not the actors themselves I work to control and make as good as possible, my fav positions are A2 (putting mics on people and setting up speakers) Wardrobe (designing costumes and performing/helping with quick changes) and Deck/props (Make stuff and put it on stage)

Outside if that my favorite subjects are Science and History (I love memorizing things that make sense and work together, i love understanding facts about the world and using it to express and understand things through literature)

I used to love math as i was a child prodigy but lost my spark as instead of my teachers noticing my skill and helping me, they poured water on my flame and now i can barely solve 13 time 3 without a calculator (its 39)

When I was in kindergarten, I was bored with my lessons and my sister (who was in 3rd grade at the time) loved playing school with me so by the time I started first grade I had memorized multiplication tables, could solve any equation in my head within minutes (like 2 digit multiplied by 2 digit equations) and had a concept of negative numbers, my first grade teacher loved this about me and would give me harder equations separate from the rest of the class, then in second grade my teacher would lie to me any time i said something above second grade math, like one time i brought up an equation like 2-5 and she was like "oh you can't do that" and I tried to explain it and she just kept denying it until I finally got so fed up with her bs I shouted "YES YOU CAN ITS NEGATIVE 3 JUST LIKE YOUR IQ FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT!" ... I got sent to the office. Third grade was the worst because instead of just letting me be my teacher made me write down everything on paper... I don't think in numbers when i do mental math, I think in concepts, so by the time i convert the concepts to numbers and but it on paper i've lost the entire equation and have to start over again and get super confused because i forget how i got that number and why that numbers there so i end up just breaking down and getting the question wrong. AND INSTEAD IF SEEING WHAT THE ISSUE WAS SHE JUST BRUSHED IT OFF AS OH YAY IM DOING THE WORK so i became stupid as a result (I also was in math olympians for a few years and would always get pissed off cause it was a group competition and i would look at the problem, solve it instantly and tell them the answer, they wouldn't believe me, take forever to solve it and low and behold i was right and because it was a timed competition i never got higher than second place...)

OH GOD THAT WAS A HORRID RANT- MY BAD GUESS YALL GOT SOME SNILK LORE🗣️🗣️‼️‼️

… I read the thing about Harry meeting JD and now I’m thinking of a crossover AU (again) with my BNHA/Havenfall thing and your Astoria/Harry Potter and how Izuku would be besties with Harry. I felt the need to share it because if you’re like me your brain is going to be attacked with thoughts, and these thoughts need sharing.

(Also Harry being a wee punk and Sirius going: MY HEIR! And helping build a flying motorcycle is hilarious so sharing that to. Imagine Alex and Remus just standing there blank. MC is laughing though cause she’s to chill.)

Izuku and Harry would be the best of friends (two formerly bullied kids who are finally getting the love they deserve and latching onto each other) and Alex would (playfully) go through every stage of grief over the fact that this means JD is forever a part of their life with all the chaos and while JD laughs. They can’t deny however how good it is to see Harry have fun with a kid his age and at least with Inko and them around property damage will be at a minimum… probably… as long as Harry doesn’t get too excited around the cosmic bowling lights and JD has forgotten how wild Harry’s brand of Magic can get. JD is laughing until they realize they are now two (2) kids’ role model and then it’s Alex’s turn to laugh.

(Alex pretending they aren’t fully here for the chaos and won’t be second in line to take a spin on the flying motorcycle right after MC under the guise of “making sure it’s safe” is always incredibly funny to me. I feel like they would bond with Remus a lot as the secretly feral one making sure their partner is safe. Sirius for his part will never stop teasing Alex for not being as put together as they try to act after MC makes a joke about “our first date: the bar fight”. Alex prays to every god they know that Sirius and JD never meet.

Also Alex would be a menace with a flying motorcycle considering all the questionable driving maneuvers they pull without the Z axis involved. )

Hmmm I’m happy to share some of my favorites, but they’re kind of all over the place in terms of fandom. If anyone wants recs for specific fandoms feel free to ask but I don’t consider myself an expert on any specific one.

Completed fics that I’ve bookmarked because I like rereading them

Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour by @bluejayblueskies (Malevolent, separate bodies modern au, Jarthur, Aro Arthur) I experienced shrimp emotions while reading this fic it’s so sweet but also the tension is SO high. I’m not going to include summaries here because you can just click the link and read the blurb but truly malevolent fic of all time.

Something’s Wrong with Danny Fenton by perfectly_inconspicuous (Danny Phantom, no one knows au, horror vibes) listen to me. You don’t need to be that into Danny Phantom to read this fic it’s just good. It’s also pretty short but there’s some small bonus content after you finish it which is fun.

Ok this last one is a little embarrassing but honestly it’s been a comfort fic for me since I was in high school lol

Yesterday Upon the Stair by PitViperofDoom (BNHA, Deku has a quirk, Aro relationships abound) listen. Listen. I haven’t really cared about bnha since I was 17/18 but a good fic is a good fic and I fucking love ghosts ok. Also good characterization.

Ongoing fics that I’m currently enjoying

Call it Even by abbysue, okayanna (Miraculous Ladybug, enemies AND lovers au-Adrinette dating Ladynoir trying to kill each other it’s fun) ok so I don’t typically go looking for ml fanfic but I’ve followed @/anna-scribbles for a while who started posting this fic with additional art and I’m completely hooked.

Things That Bleed by artistfingers, kkachis, perfectly_inconspicuous (Danny Phantom scp au, crossover with Alex Rider) listen I don’t know who this little British kid is but I am really enjoying this one. Love me some unsettling Danny.

Something Greater 2 by busket (botw/totk, Link/OC) ok so in sharing this one I’m actually recommending you go back and read Something Greater (the first one), it’s another comfort fic for me, it’s about a yiga clan member who very accidentally falls in love with Link and defects from the clan so he can learn to be his own person (if you know me you can see why this is exactly my thing). The sequel has been pretty fun so far too! Also there’s a bunch of art on Busket’s blog relating to the fic and the characters so that’s fun.

If you've come to my tumblr looking for a zine related statement this is it.

I am still an active member of Studio Void zines, myself and the other remaining member Mod Alex @thechaoscryptid are currently running a clean-up and wrap up effort on two, frankly, massive projects.

Those projects are Bite Me & Doppelbangers. They do not seem to have zine related tumblr accounts, but both are BNHA KiriBaku projects and easily found by searching the title + zine on X.

The finance mod of both projects held steady until they absolutely couldn't and handed over finances to Alex. Alex performed an audit on the zines and discovered small missappropriated transactions that led to unfortunate totals of missing money.

Neither project had affected orders or customers, and Studio Void is working with remaining mods and contribs with how this affects them.

As for personal statements:

I have been a zine mod and participant for over a decade, I have a plethora of experience in a plethora of roles and I've watched the very fabric of zines change from free fun media to profitable competitive market.

I've seen every mishap, hurdle and scream worthy team management you can imagine.

This incident is one incident in a long line of reoccurring incidents that have stemmed from this change in zine structure.

Zines are not legal businesses, they are meant to be fun good faith projects based on love and trust.

I firmly believe zines are going to keep seeing these large scale issues as long as they exist as for-profit entities. Or, unfortunately, we will begin to see large scale legal ramifications for fan projects because these issues are raising attention to the actual skewed legality of for-profit zine and fan project structure.

I will no longer be modding zine projects or any projects outside of The Studio Void umbrella. To be frank, and possibly rude, I'm sick and fucking tired of cleaning up other people's messes.

We as a Studio mostly plan to run some future bangs, exchanges and other free based fandom events. Alex would like to focus on a few more writing heavy projects as well. So keep an eye out for these endeavors.

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

Okay okay okay, like, here’s the thing: given enough incentive, I will happily ignore my own boundaries just to try something new. so if you were like, “Hey Merms, I bet you couldn’t write a Bakugou/Reader fic where Bakugou cheats on us and ALSO it ends with cannibalism” I would immediately rise to the defensive and be like, ok ur on. I would be incredibly unhappy doing it, and would do my best to try and make as many other people as possible unhappy too, LOL, but I would do it.

The problem is that it would make me miserable and peevish and depressed. Like, that would spill out from my writing time and I would go about the rest of my day—if not days—acting like I was the one who’d been cheated on and cannibalised, and simmering in that anger.

I like writing about intense things. I find it (relatively) easy to do. The difficult part is regulating how I feel about it afterwards, depending on what kind of intense it is. 🥹

(I do also wonder if this is an age thing, too. Like, When I was fifteen and a kissless virgin and writing fic, one of my most popular stories involved cheating. It was very melodramatic, and I would trot out the same trope/circumstances (our MC is cheated on by their beloved partner with someone said partner has history with) again and again over the next few years. I’ve never been cheated on! I mean, that I know of (🔪). But it was such an easy to-go for me, because it always meant instant emotional validation, right? Whereas now as an adult I prefer the relationships in my stories to either be the fun thing we’re chasing, or to be the supportive bedrock we need and NOT the source of angst, because if it’s going to hurt, then it needs to hurt in a im-going-to-cannibalise-you-and-then-kill-myself kinda way and not a we’re-gonna-break-up-and-you’re-gonna-be-a-jerk boring kinda way).

A plate and it was one time and I was desperate (and in the kitchen).

23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.

My desk is in the corner; it’s covered with letters and sketchbooks and magazines and I have four BNHA figures scattered around and one little Slyvanian baby in a blue duck costume and a ceramic jar that used to be an expensive candle that now holds a variety of lip balms and ibuprofen and also a random diamond ring that I don’t wear. I’m under a window—in the afternoon the light hits the wall and lights up my corner. Next to me I have a corkboard filled with cards and polaroids from and of my friends and also a bunch of postage stamps from Japan that I collected back when I was super into stationary.

But omg, pluvi, RE: Lightlark and the publishing industry—like, we all know that the publishing industry is there to make money, we get it. And I think that Alex Aster was probably, what, one of the first in that tiktok trend to be like, “would you read [insert tropes and Pinterest moodboard here]?” so I get it, on a purely business scale, why a publisher would swoop in and offer her money and then rush to get to get the book out. Like!!! Things and trends and interest move fast!!! You have to get that book into the hot lil hands of the teenage booktokers ASAP to make that 100k advance worth it.

But it’s so jarring to see in action! Because if Aster had an editor who cared, like, maybe a few of the bigger, more jarring problems would be tightened or changed. And idk, maybe it’s hypocritical to stand here in my un-beta’d, fanficy corner and be like, “check yourself!!!!” but???????? I will always, always be more ruthless with a traditionally published piece of work because they simply have more resources to do better. They have more eyes on it (which means, theoretically, more helpful critiquing), they have the time to write it (theoretically thanks to that advance), like—there’s just more. I expect more because they have more in which to tell this story with. If you want my money (new paperback books in Australia are easily within the $18-$30 range depending on size and genre!!!) then you have to show me that you have cared enough about this product to make it satisfying to read.
