Evan has this one green sweatshirt that looks ethereal on him, and Barty can simply not pull his eyes away from Evan when he wears it. And this occurrence had been going on for a while, even before Barty and Evan were anything more than friends. For example, Regulus would just be talking to Barty during class, and then Barty’s gaze would just drift off to something beyond Regulus’ shoulder. And Barty would still appear to be “engaged” in the conversation, nodding along and saying the right things in the right places, but mentally his mind was miles away from Regulus and the conversation he was having. In reality, his mind was taking a stroll down much stranger lanes, and he can’t help but wonder what it would be like to hug Evan right now, what it would feel like. What it would feel like to lay on Evan’s chest in front of the fireplace in the common room, playing with the hoodie strings. What it would maybe feel like to take the hoodie off of Evan, pulling it over his head in one smooth motion. And Barty really really wants to steal that sweatshirt from Evan and wear it for himself. Maybe then that girl who was chatting Evan up right now would back off then, too. Barty doesn’t really know why he has a problem with her doing so, surely it’s a somewhat normal feeling to have though—and oh Regulus is expecting a response right now, better say the right thing—but surely it doesn’t mean anything. So really, there’s no reason to think twice about it. To think twice about any of those thoughts. So he continues to gaze at Evan with hearts in his eyes, his chin resting on his hand. Young Barty Crouch Jr was not one to look and act like a love struck fool (not just yet, anyways) but when it came to Evan in that olive green sweatshirt, Barty looked like the most foolish man on earth.

after lovely dates and nearly becoming official multiple times, everything had come crashing down onto you.

many people would say that Sirius deserved better than you, but you learned long ago to ignore the sting of people’s words on your skin.

Sirius seemed to make it all better though.

it was annual Hogwarts spring dance season, and you usually would refuse to go.

and you weren’t crazy about the idea of a bunch of sweaty, hormonal teenagers dancing for hours on end.

but maybe with Sirius it wouldn’t be bad.

you’d even went dress shopping with Dorcas, something you would’ve never ever done.

so the night of the dance, everything went to hell.

“hey! Peter!.. have you seen Sirius?” you yelled over the loud music, the bass pounding in your eardrums.

“Pads? umm, yeah i think he’s with James!”

“Thanks.” you thanked half-assedly.

You scoured the Great Hall, messing nervously with your hair as you spotted him chatting with James.

“Pads, come on. You know i love you but you need to get a move on with this bet if you want the rewards.” James placed a strong hand on his friends smaller shoulder, not noticing you were there.

“I know, Prongs, I’ll probably just— ghost her after tonight or something, i guess.” again he felt bad lying to James, since he’d never ever dream of ghosting you ever.

but this time one of his lies caught up with him.

“nothing in it for you, huh?” His head perked up as he saw you standing infront of him, you took a disappointed glance at James and ran out of the ballroom. he followed close behind.

"would you give me a chance?" He tried to reason, following you up the staircases.

"You were paid to take me out! by the one person i truly hate. I knew this was a set up!" You yelled heart brokenly, stopping a few steps above him.

"Y/n, it wasn't like that, okay?"

"Really? what was it like? A down payment now and then a bonus for sleeping with me?"

"No, I didn't care about the money, okay? I cared... I cared about you."

You turned to face him with a countenance of both sadness and anger.

"You are so not who I thought you were." You muttered sadly.

In desperation, Sirius grabbed you and attempted to solve the issue by pressing his lips against yours, trying to recapture any spark.

but much to his chagrin, you jerked away from him. giving him a disgusted look as you fled back up the staircase towards your dorm room.

okay, there is no way that Sirius was just, supportive of jegulus

nope.

in my head, james and regulus got together while Sirius and Regulus had a terrible relationship still, and Sirius got super fucking pissed

because i also think the Marauders had agreed to not involve themselves with Regulus because of the bad relationship between Sirius and Regulus

so i think this was like The Prank level of betrayal for Sirius

because he thought he could trust james and then james goes and dates his brother who he’s TOLD him he had a bad relationship with and he’s TOLD him why.

so i think they didn’t tell sirius and sirius walked in on them snogging one time and absolutely blew up, first, he left, then told Remus and then confronted james.

i also think it split the group in half, because i think peter wouldn’t have wanted to pick a side, i think he would’ve been more like “yeah james that’s really shitty of you, but sirius you’re overreacting” and i think remus would’ve sided more with sirius since he knew what the feeling of betrayal was like (plus he was obviously dating sirius at the time)

i also think lily found out, and lily had a crush on james and she really thought he liked her because of his ‘endless flirting’, so i think she would’ve been pissed that he led her on, which would’ve led to the gryffindor girls and the skittles getting into the split too.

I think marlene, alice, and mary would’ve 1000% sided with lily bc james kinda led her on, but the skittles (pandora, dorcas, barty, evan) would’ve been against the gryf girls and sirius and remus bc they’re close with reg and stuff

i also feel like that would’ve led to an argument between marlene and dorcas which ended with them breaking up for maybe a month

so i think for christmas break sirius refused to stay with james because james invited regulus and bc sirius was still pissed off, and since peter didn’t want to choose a side i think he just had remus come over for break instead of having sirius over, or going to james’ like planned.

So for that christmas break sirius promised remus he wouldn’t go back home so uncle alphard was going on vacation and let sirius stay in his empty house for break

i think it also took a little bit of time for sirius to accept jegulus, and in that time he had to reform his bond with regulus before he could happily accept it

remus: he's bi and uses he/they pronouns, i think he realized during third year when he got turned on seeing frank shirtless. he probably has a preference for boys and he discovered he liked sirius nearing the end of their fourth year

james: he's pan and cis. he always thought he was straight because he was obsessed with lily but when remus came out to him in fifth year he started asking questions about the lgbtqia+ community and he eventually realized the gender of his partner didn't really matter to him. then he developed a crush on regulus and asked him out

sirius: in my opinion they're non-binary and use they/them pronouns. they always knew they were not a boy but repressed it because as we all know orion and walburga are awesome parents. they had a crush on remus since third year but didn't realize because everyone feels like that about their bestfriend right? right?!?

peter: i think peter is straight but ace, he never felt sexual attraction in any way towards anyone. he always knew but didn't think there was a word of it, he overheard remus talking about it with james and tried to find information

marlene: raging she/they lesbian, never understood what her friends liked about boys like what's so special about them?? have you seen girls?? regulus: he's trans, uses he/him, and is very much gay. he was jealous of sirius because he could wear shirts and ties and boyish clothing while he was forced by walburga to dress super femenine. he came out to sirius at seven and they obiouvsly supported him. so regulus lended his eyeliner to sirius, who gave regulus his old clothes

evan: deeply gay but didn't realize because of compulsory heterosexuality, in love with barty since forever but they're both so dumb they noticed their very obvious (to everyone but them) feelings in seventh year

barty: just as oblivious as evan, he had a "oh. oh." moment and suddently understood everything, doesn't use labels

dorcas: hated marlene, but always talked about her "i hate mckinnon, and her beautiful face, and her mouthwatering abs, mckinnon this, mckinnon that", all the slytherins in her year were making bets about how much time would it take her to realize she was absolutely smitten

pandora: she's aroace, just as xenophilius, and they have a cute qpr relationship. but since she wanted to be a mother they decided to adopt luna

frank: he's the only cis and straight person of the friend group so obviously he's a huge ally

alice: they're pan and go by they/them. had a relationship with narcissa but broke up with her because she accepted lucius's proposal, and later they fell in love with frank

narcissa: she's an ace lesbian, but was forced to marry lucius even though she was in love with alice

after posting my last thingy I've decided to rant abt bartylus on here so let's begin *rubs hands togethet mischievously*

Fyi regulus is trans in this he doesn't realize until later on so they're not in the same dorm.

I know some ppl hc that barty and regulus had a fling but romantically it was on one-sided (barty had a crush on regulus) I however don't i hc that they dated from third year till a little before Christmas break of fifth year, they had their first date on their first hogsmeade trip.

They were each others first love and even when they broke up they always had a strong bond with each other and whenever they had a problem they would go to each other first even after jegulus and rosekiller happened (I'll explain those at the end).

FIRST YEAR:

When the two of them first met in first year it was because Barty was late for potions on the first day and ended up sitting beside regulus, regulus at first ignored him and didn't bother answering any questions he was asking. Barty 'fell first' crouch was immediately fascinated by regulus, he remembered seeing him at the feast after the sorting and barty obviously knew who he was and who his family was from his dad but he didn't care.

After that first class of potions barty began sitting beside regulus at meals usually not talking because he learned the hard way that regulus prefers silence. He started bringing extra jackets and sweaters because regulus was always freezing (regulus refused to take them tho). He also carried hair ties and bobby pins for regulus because he was always pushing his hair out of the way. He would give regulus knew nicknames everyday based on his favourite color floweres, books, because he noticed that regulus would always get slightly upset when ppl would his deadname.

Before Christmas break they sat together on the train with Evan Rosier and Pandora lestrange who came in halfway thru the train ride cuz her brother were being pains, Regulus didn't really talk to anyone but he was absentmindedly playing with a Barty's sweater ans making snide comments here and there. Barty hugged regulus goodbye at the train station (regulus disnt hug back nor push him away-he didn't get the chance to do the latter since the barty had let go after a millisecond). Regulus just rolled his eyes and said bye Crouch and walked across the platform to his parents and sirius.

During the break barty practiced heqting charms for regulus and started knitting with his mum so he could make one for regulus as a late Christmas present, his mum asked him why but he just played it off as wanting to get a new hobby.

Regulus was counting down the days to go back to hogwarts and possibly thinking of Barty tho he'd deny it if anybody asks. Sirius was teasing him relentlessly abt his 'bf' after he saw them hugging. He didn't understand why the thought of being someone's-preferably barty's-gf was bugging him sm.

He was also thinking abt the conversation he heard between sirius and James when they were talking thru the mirror one night before he went into sirius' room. Sirius was annoyed and said 'she's my sister james, there r rules abt that between best friends yk'. But he quickly looked panicked when he saw regulus in the doorway and told james bye and shrugged off any questions abt it.

When they went back to school barty ran thru every compartment searching for regulus, when he actually got to the right one tho he paused at the doorway, with the sweater in hand, not rlly sure what to do now. Regulus stared at him for a bit waiting before sighing and rolling his eyes with a small barely even there smile ans telling barty he could hug him for 10secs. Barty smiled before crashing into him, regulus stiffened slightly but calmed down at the familiarity of barty and loosely wrapped his arms around barty.

Barty let go after exactly 10secs and rhey sat down since the train was gonna start moving soon. Regulus was abt to ask abt the sweater when Barty threw it onto regulus' lap and blurted a rushed 'merry Christmas Silver'. Regulus was silent for a while scaring barty who was just now realizing that it was a bit much.

After abt a full 2mins regulus turned to barty with slightly tearful eyes and said 'for me?' Barty didnt rlly pick up the question instead focusing on regulus tears and he started panicking, 'Is it rlly thqt ugly? Im sorry I've never knitted before i just wanted to give u something im so sorry'. He shut up when he felt two arms wrap around his neck and a quiet tearful thank u mumbled beside his ear.

When regulus let go he frantically wiped his face then smirked at barty, 'Silver?'. Barty blushed slightly and said, ' is it bad?'. Regulus chuckled slightly, 'no i like it'. The nickname stuck and became a permanent thing.

Throughout the school year they spent alot of time together esp in the library since regulus liked reading and barty loved to make fun of the funny looking ppl in the history books, they didn't really hang out with anyone other than evan and pandora, usually sitting with them at meals.

SECOND YEAR:

Barty starts to notice how tired regulus gets back from summer and regulus notices barty never mentioned his father and scowling at him whenever he's mentioned in the newspapers. They don't really talk abt it but they know the other understands and doesn't push rhem for answers. Barty also develops a stton hatred for james potter since he like everyone else notice that he very obviously has a crush on regulus. Barty makes little jokes abt being in a relationship with regulus but stopped saying wife and gf when he say the look of sadness in regulus' eyes.

They spend every second of their days together, and barty going to all of regulus games and always runs up ans hug him with after each one.

After Christmas break regulus came back with a scar on his wrist that only showed if u rlly looked and barty noticed and asked him abt it but regulus just brushed him off with a cold look and didn't talk for thw rest of the train ride to school. The next day tho regulus was back to normal and gave barty a smile during breakfast to reassure him.

Regulus started warming up to evan and pandora as well, already being kinda familiar with them from events with their parents. Regulus also was more open to physical touch from barty as he was thw clingest person alive. Barty was always touching him somehow whether it be his head on regulus shoulder on locking their ankles together or sometimes holding his hand.

Before the went back home for break barty held regulus on his chest for the entire train ride back home, telling him silly stories to distract him from the reality of the situation. Before getting off the train they hugged each other tightly ans Barty told regulus that if anything happened he should come to him for the break, his father wasn't the worst but he was rarely home and he could hide regulus from his mum.

Regulus gave him a slightly forced amile and promised he would although they both knew it was a lie. He gave barty a kiss on the cheek and went back home.

The summer sucked for them both, regulus' mother was banning him from wearing trousers completely after she found the stash of sirius' hand me downs in his drawer. Barty had been
