I keep thinking about Merlin’s love for Arthur and how it’s so clearly portrayed in the show to the point that it practically drives the plot of the show. However when it comes to Arthur’s love for Merlin it’s more subtle and sometimes difficult to even grasp, and I started thinking why that was, aside from the obvious fact that Arthur has a lot of trouble expressing his emotions affection or otherwise. I think it also lies in the fact that Merlin knows Arthur intrinsically throughout the show; he is one of the closest people to Arthur, and sees him for who he really is. Arthur admits as much.

Sure, Arthur knows Merlin but the main part of the plot is that he really doesn't know Merlin. Merlin wants him to desperately understand him and “see me for who I am” but he can't yet. And I think this subconsciously creates a barrier in the way in which Arthur can care for Merlin, and how Merlin can let himself be seen by Arthur.

Which is why I think he was also so hurt when the magic reveal happens because more than the betrayal of Merlin having magic, it was the betrayal of Merlin not letting Arthur see him for who he really is and for hiding a main part of himself. Arthur says it himself “why did you never tell me” that’s what hurt him the most.

I think the most damning piece of evidence for this is the fact that while we see snippets of Arthur’s feelings for Merlin thought the show, the biggest signs are in the last episode after the magic reveal; in which he finally gets to understand Merlin, and this time REALLY know Merlin, and as the barriers of what held them back from understanding each other truly fall away, Arthur evidently “falls in love with Merlin all over again”. We see him actually express himself to Merlin.

This is another reason why I think if anyone was ever to create another season of Merlin after Arthur’s return, it’s physically impossible not to make it about Merlin and Arthur acknowledging their feelings for each other. Because there is no way forward without them acknowledging how deeply they care for each other, obviously anyone is free to argue what kind of love that is, but its impossible not to see the deep love there either way.

They always knew they loved each other, just maybe never realising how much and what that means, because its almost second nature to everything that they do.

My hair has come so far in the past years. I found 2 drawings I did where I drew over selfies to show hair growth, and drew over a selfie for this year to show how far I've come!

I wasn't allowed to have long hair as a kid, so it wasn't until I moved out for university in 2020 that I started making my own hair choices and growing out my hair. I'm so thrilled with how much progress I've made. I think if kid me saw my hair today it would mean the world.

#rin rambles #i dont want to bog this with negativity but i do want to share stuff so imma do it in a way that makes me look forward and not backwards #honestly this wasn't the place that i actually wanted and got excited for several months ago #i had to make adjustments because unfortunately the landlord was a huge red flag and i decided i didn't want to sign #and sure enough she never returned my security deposit of 1.5months until this day despite saying she would every day for like a whole mont #and though it is hard and devastating i don't want to potentially sabotage my own future so i've decided to not take any legal action #i just hope. that that money can be of use to her in some way. get her out of a tough spot perhaps #it was a struggle to get to this point of actually feeling fine letting go without breaking down but!!! it's fine. i'm fine #and karma will find a way if it was truly done out of purely malicious intention!#i'm closing that book and stowing it away lovingly into a shelf because if anything it was. a powerful lesson.#as much as it sucks. never. ever. trust a person when it comes to business or transactions. no matter how 'put together' they seem #always have everything on paper and never EVER pay something until they demonstrate that they can be trusted #anyway #the people helping me move today were super friendly and nice and it made my day!!#and so far i love love love the privacy so much. a bathroom all to myself? a kitchen countertop?? for myself??? that's so crazy #i had to battle thru cobwebs and (fored to) cured my arachnophobia by force /j #and there was a power trip unfortunately but overall everything seems nice! i would have liked having the room on a higher floor but ah wel #ough my back........... _(;3」 z)_

reading a book that is very interesting in its quantitative analysis but is so weird in its tone!! the place the author chooses to insert emotionality is bizarre and his treatment of mortality of the be all end all of suffering is equally so.

#i'm supposed to be coming up w questions for this reading and so far like my biggest personal question is about tone.#like how do we feel about this tone? bc i think its bizarre.#i did go looking for other reviews and other people have brought up the same thing so it is like. extremely noticeable #he is also according to him going for 'rationality' over the 'emotionality' that is kind of pervasive in the subject matter #but then that gets into like. ok. how do you write emotionality as a historian. like. what obligations do you have to the people you examin #and he's an economic historian which i think is why he's really only focusing on mortality #which to be fair. is significant. and i think he handles it fairly well and makes clear that the numbers ARE significant even though #the percentages seem small #its just like. if this is a survey of the literature. most historians do actually talk about effects other than mortality. so.#als i do kind of think he has a moral obligation to talk about effects other than mortality. in this topic.#bc to do otherwise kind of insinuates that discussions of other effects are the emotionality he doesnt like #which might be true that he thinks that. but if its true i think thats bad.#anyway #w.me

okay so ages ago on the Bird Hellsite I saw someone make a coat entirely out of worm on a strings so now we have that incredibly cursed mental image right. My question to you is who in the TTA cast would be most likely to wear that thing and why is it Steve?

Oh, I met someone who did that a few years ago! Might have been the same person tbh.

I think a number of the minor characters would happily wear it, but the one most likely to make it would be Ash from the ghost hunting arc. Steve would wear it too, but Adam could make it work.

I had a grudge for years against worm on a string though... It was 2014. Flying across the country with my art class for the final judging of a competition. New York City, baby. Every day was constant activity; always going to a different event, a different activity, a different project...

And the stage was set: A small budget for the ILNY tourist store, two exhausted teenagers, and a misleading ad. The sound was off, and without captions we were left to assume... And we believed if the worms got wet, they would squirm. It made sense why they were $20 with technology like that.

Me and my best friend bought the worm on a string. We named him... Hal. It was all we talked about that day, the anticipation of getting back to the hotel.

Finally we get to our room. I was more excited about this than about being in the top 5 for a contest with a $50,000 prize. We opened the package, deterred by none of the signs, confirmation bias in full force... What's this string? Oh, it must be so they don't squirm away and get lost!

Fools.

Two fools standing over the bathroom sink, Hal in ones hands, and the other turning on the faucet. Nothing. A gentle shake of the lifeless soggy body. Still nothing.

And then the dawning realization: The worm was never gonna squirm around. We were duped.

How could we let that go... For years, I didn't.

I've since developed a fondness. It was never Hal's fault. We were exhausted, not thinking straight, and we blamed him for our own failure. I can only try to make amends... But I truly believe Hal never held resentment in his fuzzy blue heart.

Anyways we got second place and then the next year we won but that's less important.

the second readthrough of world trigger is where it really kicks in

#my post #world trigger #the first read is really good. it's just that the second read is incredible. and the third gets even better. and the fourth. and the fifth #i might even go so far as to say you haven't fully experienced it. until the second read. bc there is sooooooo much you will appreciate #when you have the knowledge of what comes later. and familiarity with the protags so you can actually pay attention to side characters #who this manga really rewards paying attention to. fans of the other teams in naruto would beg on their knees for their faves to get the #kind of ongoing presence and progression of even wt's fairly minor side characters like taichi or teruya #it's a little overwhelming at first but my god does wt handle its ensemble cast fantastically. while never losing sight of its protags #im so mad the official translation didn't keep the honorifics so we can get even more information on the fantastic web of relationships....#anyways read world trigger! the shonen battle manga with sports series charm. as i have been known to say #tbh i think it's the kind of shonen battle manga that will really appeal to people who stopped reading shonen battle manga haha.#extremely subversive but in very understated and subtle ways. like how its underdog protag is a REAL weak loser underdog (compliment)#the combat is actually interesting (idgaf about 99% of action sequences in any medium. but i fucking love every single fight in wt)#the female characters actually get writing and presence and cool shit. without being subjected to like. any sexualization at all.#and don't discount chika just cause she looks like the typical Demure Shonen Girl at first. she is way more interesting than that #you can tust me #it has its flaws like anything else but i like it. i like it a lot. <understatement of the century

Pre divorce shadowpeach didn't seem to be the type to fight a lot. In fact the shadowpeach divorce probably blew up that big due to all the unsaid frustrations they never let out.

So I'm just imagining shadowpeach never fighting in an obvious way (closest to fighting would be backhanded comments or barbed words) but that just makes things more unsettling

oh yeah 100% it didn’t help that swk was always leaving FFM out of his need to get stronger and be the best and be respected. not to mention they probably never saw their times together as the right moment to voice their concerns out loud because this was their time to wind down and they just had to wait it out, wait until everything was perfect enough to have those talks

#then everything went to shit #nothing was okay #swk was trapped under mountain all by his lonesome and def going insane #then Macky visits him (i’ve assumed that memory in s4 was Macky’s 1st and last visit) and they can’t pretend everything is ok anymore #tbh it was probably super ironic for them bc it might’ve been that swk would act like nothing was wrong & everything was under control #pre-battle with Heaven with Macky being the one with some concerns. but then Macky visits acting like everything’s chill and swk can’t #thus their fight is equally harsh and explosive (bc that’s what i find fun) and they never really say they’re done with each other #but both confirm to themselves that this is probably the end of their relationship and then oops! swk is free but won’t come home #why won’t he come home? Macky isn’t sure but he knows that swk is looking carefree with some new buddies and gets pissed #(Am I placing assumptions? Yes. Do they have any semblance to canon? They do if you consider my heart and passion)#anyway mixing jttw events that lmk hasn’t confirmed: Macky dies by SWK’s hand (whether directly or indirectly)#and the divorce is set in stone (bc how can a relationship reconcile or get back if the other is dead? as far as swk knows)#fast forward to lmk and they still can’t be civil or ignore their relationship issues like before and fight/butt heads constantly bc yeah #like yeah past shadowpeach is cute & fluffy & codependent still but they don’t have that hostility like in their divorced/still married era #lmk #shadowpeach #asks

#zelda #echoes of wisdom #I still can't quite believe it's finally happening tbh! took ya long enough nintendo #anyway how are you!! sorry for the radio silence lately haha #my 7-year-old computer actually chose the week I was trying to finish my piece for the magic book zine to give up the ghost entirely #(luckily I just barely managed to coax it into hanging in there until after the deadline haha!)#so all my drawing lately has been like... experimenting to figure out how to use the newer versions of everything #I am old gandalf. I know I don't look it but I'm beginning to feel it #had a really good time drawing this though! playing around with new ways to do the light effects made me positively GIDDY #and zelda's design! I've seen people saying the game's visual design looks too simple but imo that's actually a good thing?#because the simpler the canon art style is the more creative input we have in our own interpretations of it #medieval tailoring is my special interest so my take on it is very loosely based on like mid-late 14th-century kirtles #as far as I know they didn't really have split skirts or that shade of purple back then but eh it's fantasy haha #I wasn't super clear on how the cloak fastens so I based it on the one frodo wears at the start of lord of the rings. you know the one #the outer edges have tabs at the top that sort of cross over each other and attach with brooches to the shoulders #I guess it's kind of like how marth and lucina's cloaks work?#but anyway I shall see you anon! hopefully before the game actually comes out haha #only 98 sleeps to go though!
