I just realized the "in nightmares castle its always night" wont work

Nightmare is cold, almost always. He constantly wears layers of thick clothing and sometimes real fur.

It makes more sense for it to be always day time? The sun obviously gives off warmth. It constantly being nighttime doesn't benefit nightmare in anyways at all.

And if dream would have a base similair to nightmare, it would always be nighttime. Its colder in the night.

Also. Nightmare is compared a lot to the moon, dream the sun.

They would always have a reminder of their twin

Outertale -

Outertale Sans: Cosmic Serrif. I thought it would be kinda funny that he would name himself Cosmic because when he finds out how similar he and Vanilla are, the two progressively end up making a connection to Comic Sans becoming a pun with "Cosmic."

Outertale Papyrus: Comet Serrif. Fast, energetic, and bright - Comet got his name out of inspiration. He actually was able to pick what name he wanted quickly as a result

Farmtale -

Farmtale Sans: Basil Serrif. Basil is a type of plant that is suspected to have mild sedative properties that affect mood and ease things such as depression, anxiety, and sleeping problems. Wonderful for foods, teas, etc, he thought that the name itself was just perfect for him. He's a very laid back character, so it works along with the fact that his magic happens to be green

Farmtale Papyrus: Juniper Serrif. The word juniper comes from the Latin word juniperus, which means "to produce." The name symbolizes life, growth, and it's known to be a resilient plant. So, what better name could he go for that's based off a plant like his brother and that perfectly captures his excellence?

Gtale(?) -

G!Sans: Marigold Serrif. Like his magic, it is a bright flower that often symbolizes power, strength, and light. It is also said that Marigolds are thought to attract souls. Back then in the Victorian Era, where the Language of Flowers prospered, marigolds often were about grief and sadness, often put in bouquets as a way of expressing kindness and solidarity. He would have chosen this name as a sort of gesture of withholding the memories of not only Gaster, but of all that lie underground as they vanished. He is a withdrawn and self reflective individual, it makes sense he'd choose it as it holds significant meaning to him

G!Papyrus: Sage Serrif. The name means wise, or prophet in Latin terms. The plant is commonly also used in practices that include burning it in order to connect to the spiritual world or enhance intuition. His magic is green, so to specifically focus on green Sage reveals that it represents wisdom, intelligence, and experience. When part of Gaster's soul fused with his own, not only did he grow more knowledge, but he progressively became a mixture of both personalities. So, sage was the perfect inspiration for him

Fashiontale -

For context: I do not like anything from the original AU Underlust It was a proshipping hellhole that I do not like and honestly most of the designs if not all of them are not to my personal liking. So, as a result I took some inspiration of what it was "going for" and decided to make my own little AU like spin on it. So, to get a slight idea, this is where these two come from

Fashiontale Sans: Cupid Serrif. The God of desire, attraction, affection, and erotic love. It's a fitting name for him because of his popularity underground for his performances and his ability to attract all the things that the God Cupid is capable of. He would only want such a pretty name for a pretty face

Fashiontale Papyrus: Desi Serrif. Desi comes from Desire, shortened to a simple sweetness. It also is a name meaning "yearning, sorrow, or desire." With all of this, what really pushed him to choose this name is because of the Desi Roses, a garden rose variety that is known for its strong scent. Everyone already knows the symbolism of roses, so this was just the perfect name for him

Apple Brothers:

I have no desire to change their names, since they're such solid ones. However, below, I decided to add little nicknames that were technically their own "names" when the two were children

Dream: Sunny or Dreamy, which used to be used by Nightmare when the two were children

Nightmare: Nicknames he had from Dream were ones such as Nighty or Moony. ("oh like FNA-" "shhh shhh shh shh. Shh")

Glitch:

Glitched Swap Sans: Blooper. He was not meant to be an outcode, let alone meant to even be in the void to begin with. A stumble of steps, a missed line, a missed frame. The dictionary states that Blooper means "an embarrassing error" "a mistake" and I think that perfectly encapsulates him entirely. How he feels, how he was created. There's a lot I personally changed in his character, but I wanted to name him Blooper since not only is it fitting, but because it also is a small nod towards "Blueberror", which was his original name

Closing Thoughts:

I plan to just keep the rest of the names that we have for other popular AU's such as Ink, Reaper, Dust, Killer, Error, Geno, and Cross.

So I found back this extremely old fic I wrote like, last year about an au where Dream and Nightmare would be on the same side instead of enemies. This is their sort of backstory on how they’ve turned the way they did and what better moment to post it than on their birthday? Man, the twins are super old now- How old are they again? 507? I don’t even remember-

Warnings: Violence, blood, language, mention of abuse and the villagers. They literally deserve a warning.

Synopsis: on the date of their birthday, the Apple Twins decided to spill the things they have hidden from each other for the longest time. What ensues is simple, the twins take the liberty to give themselves quite the special gift…

It was their birthday today and they would both officially turn 6 on this holy day. Dream had the happiest smile Nightmare saw him have and he kinda felt bad for planning to ruin the mood but he had to tell him.

The eldest tugged on the bright one’s sleeve and the other one turned to him, a curious smile on his face. “Yes, brother?”

“Dream…” Nightmare gulped. He can’t back away now. “Can we talk?”

Upon his brother’s nervous gaze, the guardian of positivy’s smile faltered and he frowned, slightly wondering what had him in such a mood. “Of course brother, what would you like to talk about?”

The other guardian fiddled with his fingers, absolutely fidgeting in place. “It’s about the villagers…”

“THEY DID WHAT?!” Nightmare flinched at Dream’s expression, having never seen the other one, so bubbly and cheerful in normal terms, so angered before. A seer replaced his usual smile and if looks could kill, that poor tree would have already been buried ten feet underground now.

“I can’t believe them!” He continued, ignoring Nightmare’s attempts to calm him down. “They told me they would leave you alone if I let them do what they wanted to without telling you!”

Well, that got the older one to arch an eyebrow. Didn’t the villagers love Dream? “What do you mean? What did they do?”

“They—“ He cut himself off, a hand clamped over his mouth to silence himself. His widened eyes glistened in horror at what he just said, making Nightmare worry about what was going on. “Oh no, I’ve said too much…”

“Dream.” Nightmare called out, crawling closer to the shorter boy. The latter looked up at him, slightly shaking. “Do you trust me?” Dream nodded vigorously, his hand still on his lips. “Then tell me what they did to you.”

Dream shook his head. Nightmare frowned. “I’ve already told you about my side of the story, it’s only fair if you do so as well right?”

The positive one stayed silent. “I won’t judge you.” Nightmare raised his arms in a sign of peace and at last, a sigh escaped Dream.

“You’re right…” He scrunched his shoulders and began explaining everything to him.

“I’m going to kill these assholes!” Nightmare shouted at the end of Dream’s explanation, standing up quickly. “How dare these little bastards—“

“Brother, language…” Dream half-heartedly scolded him, an absent look in his eyes. He seemed to be thinking about something and by that look alone, Nightmare could tell it was not a thing that would be considered morally good.

The older one raised an eyebrow at him. “What are you thinking about?”

“What you just said… Maybe we should do it?” Dream stared Nightmare in the eye with a determined gaze and the older one choked on his spit when he noticed how serious Dream was about it.

“What in the— Dream, we can’t kill them!” He looked scandalized for a moment, the thought alone sending a shiver down his spine. He really couldn’t imagine them murdering the villagers in cold blood.

“Why not?” The other simply replied, continuing to stare at his big brother. “They’ve hurt us and you know Mom would agree.”

Nightmare sputtered, not having any argument about that. He did have a point.

“… Okay but if Mom asks, it was your idea.”

“Sounds fair to me.”

Things went wrong.

Like very wrong.

When Dream and Nightmare had begun the slaughter, they were progressing without much issue, their strength far superior to the villagers’. Maybe their shock helped out a bit but either way, they were at an advantage.

It all went to shit though when they shot Dream’s good arm, making him unable to use his bow.

As strong as the twins were, they were only two while the villagers were hundred, the difference in numbers was bound to go against them at one point.

So there they were, running toward the Tree of Emotions at top speed while a herd of monsters chased after them, yelling and attempting to shoot arrows.

Dream was clutching onto his injured arm, gritting his teeth and inwardly praying his asthma wasn’t going to act up now. The situation was already bad enough, no need to add onto it.

After what felt like a century, the duo finally reached the tree, breathless.

A few meters away, the villagers screeched as roots blocked their progress and tried to fend them off. It seems like Nim was willing to help them this one time.

Once the worry about the villagers catching up to them faded away, Nightmare, the older twin, rushed toward Dream in panic, asking how his brother was holding up.

“I’m okay.” He let out a ragged breath, straightening up and smiling at him. “But we need to do something soon, Mom won’t be able to hold them up forever.”

As if on cue, a messy spirit appeared before them, pink dress sticking out like a sore thumb in the meadow of green.

“Would you look at that, the yellow one is finally using his brain.” Her voice was glitching, probably due to the need to focus on the fight at hand. Never had she used so many of her roots before. “You guys have like 5 minutes before these vile creatures manage to breach through so whatever you decide to do, do it fast.”

Before either of them could say anything, the figure disappeared as fast as it appeared, blowing their hair with a cold breeze.

Dream chewed on his nail nervously, trying to get the fog off of his brain.

Meanwhile, Nightmare looked up and his eyes glued themselves on the black and golden apples gleaming in the sunlight.

“Dream.” He called out, putting an end to Dream’s pitiful attempt to come up with a solution. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

The latter opened his mouth, about to ask what he meant before he followed his gaze. He let out an “oh” before chuckling.

“Mom’s gonna kill us for that.” Nightmare got closer to the imposing plant, sending Dream a smirk.

“Personally, I would rather be killed by Mom than those assholes.” Dream joined him at the side of the tree, nodding.

“Yeah agreed.”

They both managed to get a hand on their respective apple and as Nim finally processed what her two children were about to do, they gave each other a smirk before biting into it as the mother’s scream echoed in the background

Misplaced hatred

I always thought that if Nightmare got to see the younger version of Dream he wouldn’t be able to contain his hatred regardless, only to realize how misplaced his hatred is and that he fucked up later down the line

Introductions! Hi, I'm quite literally here just to post my personal headcanons about Undertale and AU's. Yeah, it'll mainly center around the skeleton brothers, but you can see stuff I add about other characters too! I really love the idea of them all being forced roommates and stuff or other circumstances. I've never actually posted before, but I'll try to like- post in order best to my abilities.
