another anderperry wip :)
this is part of a feline friend, the one where todd and neil meet because of neil's cat
Two tickets to The Glass Menagerie. And a paper note that said: ‘I hope you’re available during opening weekend. If not, let me know and we can work something out. I would really like to see you there; I’m not just trying to fill the seats :)’ That sneaky bastard. Todd was smiling like a fool. “I think this means we’re friends now,” Todd said to Cameron over the phone. There was a laugh and Todd wasn’t sure why. Todd then invited him to see it, but Cameron insisted they both go in their own cars. “This is what you’re gonna do,” Cameron started. “You’re gonna wait for him across the street from the stage door. He’s going to get in your car and there will be a bouquet of flowers in the backseat—” “Flowers? Cam—” “Listen, Todd.” Cameron said sternly. “He is essentially courting you. It’s your move. You’ll drive, maybe get a bite to eat, you talk and have fun.”

The celestial object of the day is IGR J17091-3624!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This black hole has in its accretion disk the fastest winds ever discovered, at 32 million km/h (20 million miles per hour) or 3% of the speed of light. And just like the black hole GRS 1915+105, it also has X-ray variability patterns or 'heartbeats.' While fainter than the ones of GRS 1915+105, IGR J17091's are faster!

Okay, so i did a bit of research, and the second closest galaxy to milky way (so, even farther from earth) is 2.7 million lightyears away. I say second closest (the triangulum galaxy) because chase says they're passing through (i think through. I just know they mention either going through or around it) the Andromeda galaxy, which is the closest galaxy to our home the milky way. It's probably obvious but a lightyear is the distance light can travel in a year. According to the known laws of physics, nothing can travel faster than light. So if the galaxy the space colony is in is at LEAST 2.7 million lightyears away, there's no possible way they (or a rocket/missile) is getting there or back to earth fast enough for them to have barely aged and then return in the same millennium. If someone launched a missile from the triangulum galaxy, even if it was at the speed of light (not possible, but let's say it's approaching the speed of light) it wouldn't reach earth for about 3 million years.

The Unethics Committee update!!🧪🧫⚗️⚙️🥼🥽🩻🧬🔥💥🧬🧠🦴⚠️☢️☣️
I am hereby making The Unethics Committee (my mad science discord server) public since I am way too slow with keeping up inviting people via dm. We currently have around 50-60 members but it would also be nice to have it be accessible for more people to keep it being active. More information about the server in the pinned post on my blog!
Welcome to the madness!💚

i hate this grad student sooo muchhh he looks like he was breastfed until he was 11 and no matter what your question is or what class it's for he will treat you like an idiot and then confidently give you the wrong answer. Last semester I asked him for help deriving the maxwell-boltzmann distribution and he told me that "v stands for velocity, which is how fast it's going." Today I asked him how to derive the allowable momenta from a certain wave function and he started explaining to me that energy levels and momenta are quantized. No fucking shit. "So first you need to solve this equation--" which equation? the one i solved already? in two seconds? in front of you? And then he just wrote the wrong answer on the board.
And i KNOW it's not just me because two people in the quantum programming lab period HE TEACHES asked him the same question. He gave the male student a straightforward answer, but for some fucking reason he assumed that the female student who had just gotten off her shift at nasa that afternoon did not know what a string was.

Okay logan and chase definitely meet at Griffith observatory in LA. Logan goes on his day off on the same day chase had managed to get funding for mission creek high's astronomy club to take a trip there

Last week i had my AstroLab. I learned how to get and work with different forms of space data and even had a night at the 70cm telescope (at LSW). It was amazing. Working as an astronomer after uni was more of an idea, a possibility but now I want it. i really wanna work in this field. tomorrow i have an exam, and ive been studying the past days for it, today again. on the one hand im worried cuz its my second try but i also think its gonna be fine. not a lot i could change now anyways. ima get back to studying (:
