I like bloodweave. Okay. But I DON'T like the version of them in fanfic where Astarion is a dick and Gale is like. Whining and pleading for him to be emotionally vulnerable (or just. Nice to him) prior to the relationship being established. Because that is just not accurate. Gale needs the player to express interest in him during his weave-teaching scene before he even considers hitting on them properly. Gale is entirely resigned to his fate and needs someone else to pull him away from it. Gale only starts being sweet and romantic and devoted after you accept his love confession and give him hope for the future. Gale says fuck all and then slinks away to cry privately if you break up with him.

Like he isn't chasing after people lmao. He isn't dropping to his knees and crying about anything much less this dickhead he met a week ago. He is overwhelmingly passive about literally everything personal to him up to and including his own death (provided there are no casualties/there is a good reason) until after the player expresses that they care about him. Astarion is not doing that in any of these fics.

Like Gale is friendly and a dork and doesn't wanna get murdered but he fully has a suicide plan. He thought the artefacts would help him survive but he didn't believe he'd ever truly live again. If Gale confessed and Astarion said/did like one (1) mean thing afterward Gale's romance is closed off forever. He's wandering into the forest to cry. He's killing himself immediately. His fragile ego and self worth can't take it. You have to understand that when we joke about him being pathetic it's not bc he's like. Sopping wet and chasing people down and begging for a scrap of attention. It's because he craves affection but would literally rather die than ask or even hope for it until someone else forces that hope back into his serotonin-deficient tadpole brain.

i can't stop thinking about rei and kaoru lol. sorry. cause for the first few eps I was like oh okay awesome that's the classic dynamic of someone who is very ill and very scared of losing her health seeing her best friend throwing her life away (and for what?) to the point of physically trying to stop rei from taking more pills but that's not just it lmao like that's not it. becoming friends over VERLAINE (rei specifically going wow.......i guess you're not some uncultured JOCK 🧐 after all). the way that rei loves playing basketball with kaoru but has to stop herself because she can't allow herself to feel happiness in anyway. oh and the way that rei and kaoru barely hang out on screen cause of the same reason (it's not that fukiko is keeping them apart but it's like rei knows that fukiko WOULD keep them apart. so she just goes ahead and does it by herself) but the second the rei is sick or lovelorn its kaoru who is there to offer the most unselfish love and support rei has ever seen. taking her shirt off and falling asleep skin to skin cause rei needed it. and rei won't ask after kaoru's mysterious illness and she won't ask if she's ok but she will go behind kaoru's back to her doctor (fuck medical privacy laws btw) and ask HIM how she's doing. cause rei's worried. and rei knows about henmi. and kaoru knows about fukiko (in the GIRL. TAKE OFF THE BRACELET. BLOCK HER AND MOVE ON. kind of way). and they both told each other that they deserve better. kaoru was honestly the only person to say rei deserved better (take off the bracelet. stop getting this high. take care of yourself.) out loud. and im gonna be real honest with you guys and say that i haven't been able to get more than 10 min into episode 34 cause im too scared of how kaoru is going to react when she finds out that rei's death was a suspected suicide. "you dress like shit"/"sorry im not bourgeois like you LOL" they literally invented love and friendship. is the thing.

i did NOT notice until this episode, but tongrak lives by water which is so fitting.

i know we're trauma dumping in the first 10 minutes, but can i just appreciate the lighting in this scene. again, i don't know a single thing about cinematography, but like the warm glow behind mut and the cool tones of rak's shot being hit with a subtle warm light. is it intentional? I DONT KNOW!! i don't even know if what i'm saying makes sense LMAO but i feel Something. also plus points for showing peat's beautiful eyes. i love seeing them in the light.

and the cuddle scene in bed after this is so chef's kiss. I TOO WANT TO LAY ON FORT'S WARM CHEST!!!!!!

tongrak's mannerisms are so cute like the snuggling, the pouting, etc. i think peat accentuates that so well too (or am i being biased again idk idc)

please this part...... UUUUOOOOGGGGHHHH mut holding rak's hands down, the slow build up to kiss, rak with his tongue out ready to go..... fortpeat know how to dial it up!!!!! their tension is crazy

i want khom's green fit so bad like THE PASTEL and my favorite color. i'm wondering if we'll get to see connor at all besides his voice. in the novel, he shows up with khom during this part.

i'm glad we're getting to see more of rak and vi's friendship. i feel like there's been a lack of that so far so this short scene is good to solidify their closeness. also the way peat smushes his face against the pillow here is SOO cute. he plays cute pouty kitten characters so well.

also vimook... THEY'RE SO UNSERIOUS!!!!!!!! PLEASE mame what is ur plan for them bc i am literally the mf crying emoji seeing their progression. the show is already deviating from the novel (they have extra scenes in the series iirc) so i don't know what to expect.

also finally we get meena aka we're truly starting the conflict of this story. i really have to praise nina. fortpeat have said before she's good, but i've never watched anything she's in so i didn't know but yes. she is GOOD. kid/young teen characters can be super hit or miss and i think nina hits it out of the ballpark. she's VERY natural and comfortable with her line delivery and expressions.

i think one of peat's strongest points as an actor is his display for yearning. he's so ridiculously good at internal panic.

also how can i NOT mention the face-fucking nc at the end!!! after getting interrupted twice (once last ep and during the mid-way point of this ep) i was like we have to get Something right? AND WE DID RAAAH I LOVE WINNING!!!!! love sea truly does make me feel like im constantly winning in the nc department.
