Want to help fund a Pride festival in a tiny Welsh town? 🏳️🌈
We're Machynlleth and we're small but queerly dense, so the goal is small but impactful, which means it's super easy and satisfying to support a significant amount!
Banishing smite would be cool, always nice to send enemies to rage on another plane
I'll go one step further, since thinking about the mechanics of Banishing Smite had me thinking about a long term problem paladins have when they find fiends mucking about on the material plane. See, many extraplanar entities who are composed of the pure essence of their native realm don't die when slain on the material, suffering the equivalent of banishment with the added discomfort of putting themselves back together. For demon hunters, this has led to frustrating knowledge that any fiend killed in their world may well simply return after an established time passes or certain conditions are met. The only surefire way to avoid this is to destroy the fiend on its native plane of existence, leaving it no means of metaphysical escape.
This is extremely dangerous, and not every paladin has the time, skill, or resources to make forays into the infernal realms for the purpose liquidating the demonic hierarchy. Doomguy is a (beloved) outlier and perhaps should not have been counted.
So, how to solve the problem of permakilling demons without punching holes in reality fight them where they are strongest?
Balchder the Proud sneered at the figure beneath. Even in its crippled state, its leviathan form and blazing eyes still pulsing with malevolent might, contempt radiating from its basso voice.
"You may have foiled my plans in this moment, but I will return, and when I-URK"
It did not have the chance to answer, as one hammer blow stuck its lower jaw, shattering it, and a gauntleted fist accompanied that strike, seizing the jaw and ripping it loose.
"Be silent."
Eyes the color of the white light of an eclipse blazed at the demon before raising the hammer once again, runes of pale light cutting into the hammer's edges, and the paladin spoke with the practiced rite.
"With this strike I banish thee, returning thy soulless essence to the pit. But you will find no succor there, and not even thy masters will find the rancid taste of thy bones nourishing. Begone."
The last expression on the demon's face burned with frightened confusion before it's body was blasted across the planes to its own realm. It had a moment of fragmentary confusion, as the smite that banished it faded on its still existing form, only for a second, as a more powerful smite destroyed it utterly.
------------------
Banishing smite, when it strikes a foe and reduces them to 50 or less hp, it banishes the creature to either its native plane or a demiplane. However, if the Paladin activates a divine smite in the same charge, that damage can follow it across the planes, ensuring a final end.
Mae cariad yn gariad gyda phwy bynnag ydyw, boed yn platonig neu'n rhamantus neu'n deuluol. Peidiwch byth â gwneud hyn o'r blaen ond, Balchder Hapus. Punch rhywun ar y trwyn os ydyn nhw'n bigot. Os ydych chi'n anelu at y ganolfan, rhwng y llygaid, gallwch chi eu bwrw'n anymwybodol gyda digon o rym.
Felly, ie. Balchder Hapus.

Pride month is about to hit the west coast and I thought I’d make a little list of the word “pride” in a bunch of different languages. I hate that I need to explain it but y’all know how people be so uh obviously I don’t speak all these languages I used a translator for the VAST majority of these and if there are some mistakes please make me aware and I can fix it ASAP! I know the word may be different in some languages in the context of “LGBT/Gay Pride” (many languages use the English term or other terms that are separate from just a direct translation of pride) and I will correct them if there is a better term but it’s hard to directly translate into so many languages!!
