Ok, so first things first. We stan a healthy relationship who both respects boundaries but also understands that your partner is different and may have different needs. *chef's kiss*

Alright, so I think Yoongi's first move might be to find you a buddy, lol. That is not in any way to say that he doesn't love you or doesn't want to be with you. But Min Yoongi gives the impression that he is a man of practicality first and foremost. Therefore, dude is gonna have a backup plan.

Because, Babe. He adores you but also knows that there are going to be times when he can not physically be with you. That's just life. I'm so sorry life sucks and it's hard for you to be alone. I am so sorry for whatever happened that made it hard for you to be by yourself. You didn't deserve that and it's not fair. However, that is life sometimes and while it is true that not everyone feels that way and some do feel more comfort in alone time.... we're not talking about that right now. We're talking about how to help you. And we're gonna focus on that because you're important and I want you to know that.

That being said, I can definitely see Yoongi with a myriad of backup plans. The first being a buddy. If you're not comfortable with other people, an animal might be a great suggestion. If you have a pet of your own, I could see him loving that you have a little friend to keep you company. If you want one but don't know where to start, I could totally see him taking the initiative to research and find out what pet might be suitable for you. If you're just not ready for a pet of your own, I can absolutely see him encouraging you to bond with Holly. He's already gonna do that anyway because he loves that little dog and he loves you. Besides, he already tells Holly that you're his mother anyway so you might as well just make the decision to have Holly be your purse puppy and everyone would be happier, lol.

Now, outside of that. Regarding your home. There are times when he is just going to need his alone time. Yoongi is an absolute sweetheart from what I understand. However, he is still human and all human need at least a little alone time to just reset. For some, that's just when you're in the restroom, perhaps sleeping or maybe the commute to work. That works for some but for others it could be different. They might need more.

To help with those feelings of loneliness and separation anxiety, he might take it upon himself to turn a spare room or even that random ass closet in his home office/studio/creativedungeon/ect./whatever  into a little space for you. In reality, the little hole in the wall closet was literally supposed to be a linen closet but he never uses it because he keeps the towels under the sink and the extra bed sheets in the hallway closet … like a normal person! So it just collects dust or random shit anyway.   

In reality, I think he would get pretty into it too.  He’s a man of few words (or seems to be) but what he does say, he means.  What he tries to express to you, he does through actions.  Creating safe places for you is so healing for him because it’s basically the soft, gentle sweet side of Yoongi (which let’s be honest is about 95% of him anyway) -  Basically it’s that side of him going, “Hey, little precious angel that I love so much and I’d do anything for! I made you something because I DO love you so much and I want you to be happy and safe and if that means being around me, please let me make a spot for you so that you can physically see a visual representation of the fact that I want you in my life.  Please, please enjoy this.  I tried my best and please never go away.  I love you.  Please stay.” 

However, he will not be saying those words aloud.  Because he is a man.  Possessed by the spirit of a cat.   And he’d sooner die than utter those words aloud.  At least in front of other people.   He has a reputation to protect, ya know.  

He will, however, show you just how soft he is for you by his actions.   Literally, sis, just blink your eyes at him.  He’s done. You’re his sweet baby angel love and there is no thing that he will not do for you if you ask him.   And that is literally all it takes.  Just ask him.   

Which, sigh, I know it’s hard to ask for the things in life that we want or we feel we need.  If you’re anything like me sometimes you might struggle with feeling worthy enough to even ask for needs.  And mental health (and the subsequent help) is, in fact, a need, love.  Please remember that you are valued, loved, worthy and wanted.

First off I wanna start out by saying I know that this year I've been a bit MIA :( I basically ended TGU Season 1 and left you guys pretty high and dry until I started posting some Halloween fics (no one look at the fact that I'm missing a couple of those)

I have had a pretty busy year but I wanna just do a lil backtracking and talk about it. Ive gotten to do some amazing things this year. I got to meet and be with my gorgeous girlfriend @themidnightcrimson <3 (hi lil sickie). I got to meet daddy, mommy, and Dragon Mommy with my best friends @maximotts and @belovaskitkat (the 4$ water at con truly did something to us). I got a few promotions throughout the year even if my job literally makes me want to die (Im frantically typing this BEFORE i go into work even though its Christmas Eve and my tumblr birfday)

I got to get closer to so many people and I just know that even though so many shitty things happened this year and so many things really tanked most people's year that I have some of the best people that surround me.

Answering the questions

I just love detailed stuff✨ Plus when you work on something for a long time, you can kinda think of something or subconsciously add even more visual details

Motivation comes from just a wish to finish something most of the time

When I work on big projects (that take months for example) I tend to go into 💪grind💪 state, where you just dedicate your entire time to making something

It a very interesting thing, because your life literally becomes this project for a few months, you wake up with a goal and make your day as productive as possible (after I finish something I can have a mini crisis, like wait this thing is over, wait I can do something different.. no I NEED A PURPOSE 💥💥💥 *aggressively starts yet another comic*)

Also I feel like uni played a major role in my productivity rate, bc you can have multiple projects in one semester and plus to that an assignment that just adds on every week

Imagine like inktober, but you decided to take 5 more prompt lists and every drawing you make is criticised by professor (so you need to make edits or redo your entire work)

This type of constant pressure just kinda makes you a different person in a way, at least it was my experience with it

And how much time (hehe don’t make me blush it’s not godly 👉👈), well entire life basically + almost 4 years of uni

Also wanted to say for people who are starting or just feel overwhelmed by other artists skills:

The funniest thing is, I started drawing not because I wanted it to be good or to impress people

I just wanted a pony picture 💥 in a funky dress 💥💥 and my mum said “I’m tired of drawing horses for you, go do it yourself” 💥💥💥 and I did 💥‼️💥‼️💥💥

A lot of people chuckled at me bc the drawings were crappy, but I didn’t care 💥📣🗣️I’m the one holding a paper horse in a dress, not you 💥📣🗣️

So like, don’t sweat it, no art is bad – you put effort, you made it, it’s already worth attention and love

The idea of “good” is flawed and very vague anyway

The feeling of doubt is also normal, everyone has it time to time, without it we wouldn’t be able to improve

we were busy pacing through london in circles for hours in order to process hour experience so we haven't shared the excitement yet, but here goes a quick rambling before bed time (after all donmarwarehouse-official correspondents ate due to queue at 2pm again tomorrow and report live from the ground 🫡🫡🫡)

hello??? hello??? I have to say as an ex film student who doesn't actually know a lot and hasn't actually seen a lot of theater I have extensive thoughts on the cinematic style of this production especially from a visual and sound design perspective but those are for later.

right now I can just say that I had a religious experience of sonder about mr tennant during the first few scenes. he sprinted past me less than half a meter away four times. we made an unholy amount of eye contact and one of his monologues had an eyeline basically right next to my face so i felt stared at while my chin was wobbling and i was tearing up. in my section I was person 2 to join in a standing ovation and we successfully pressured two stalls sections entirely into getting their asses off their seats (meanwhile maggie service and rob wilkins were the only people in their section to join in 🥺). the macbeths were so sexy. what the fuck is cush jumbos deal she is so good. i got goosebumps literally so many times. at times i put one of my headphones into a really funky halfway position and I think that was a cool mix of live voices and the very cool things they've done with the audio. the I'm scrambling to fix or at least hide something I can never undo and I'm going mad in the process themes hit me unexpectedly hard. the amount of empathy and emotion pretty much all of the characters evoked in me is staggering.

also you were right queuing is so fun nothing beats the adrenaline rush of getting tickets and nothing beats seeing people ten spots down the queue inside the theatre and just congratulating each other half an hour later.

a death note chapter 1 vs episode 1 comparison

I think people tend to be under the assumption that the death note manga and anime are basically the same besides their endings and the foot washing scene, and thus generally interchangeable. Personally, i don’t believe this is the case. Though many of the changes are small things a casual viewer might not notice, to me these small changes add up to such a degree that despite being so similar, reading the manga and watching the anime are two very different experiences (not even getting into how the anime butchers the second half lmao)

For the record, im not against significant changes in adaptations. On the contrary, i find the oft-hated 2015 tv drama to be a compelling alternate take on the narrative (even if it often struggles in the execution of its concepts). Rather, this whole Thing is more of a documentation of the big and small changes made in adaptation, through the lens of my own extremely subjective interpretation of both versions.

the anime naturally makes many structural changes to the narrative so for the sake of consistency, i will generally be going through things according to the anime’s chronology. If i believe one of these changes has a notable effect on how the narrative comes across, i’ll mention it. I’ll try not to repeat things that are identical between versions, so naturally some existing familiarity with either version would be preferable

Let's Begin

Light: this world… Ryuk: …is rotten

The anime takes the opening lines of the manga (which are spoken separately by light and ryuk, respectively) and gives light ryuk’s line, while light’s is then shared between both of them.

Though they are very obviously visually drawing parallels between the two characters in the manga, i think the actual sentiment expressed in their respective lines isn’t meant to be quite as connected as the anime portrays it. the role “boredom” and “morality” play in their respective motivations is pretty important later on in the chapter, so just keep this in the back of your mind for now.

After light picks up the note for the first time, he puts it back down and starts to leave, dismissing it as a stupid chain letter. But once he thinks about the fact that it’ll supposedly kill people, he turns back (and goes back for it). This choice to go back is not present in the manga, he simply picks it up, laughs, and puts it in his bag without a second thought.

Though light laughs at it in both, in the manga the sequence in general feels lighter in tone compared to the anime (where light only takes interest in it Because it claims to kill). 

In general, light comes across as more mature in the anime, in his facial features and behavior. Tragically, there is no “fwaah” 🥺

It’s minor but Anime light entirely skips manga light’s rationalization of finding someone it’s “okay to kill”, though he does immediately rebuke himself for taking this so seriously

This may just be up to translation differences but anime light seems almost eager for the death note to be real, while manga light seems to just want confirmation, and is much more distressed over the circumstances. Again, the anime leaves out light determining who to kill specifically in terms of who it would be “okay to kill”. And here he then doubles down to someone who “ought to die”, as the situation has gotten more serious

It’s a small thing, but the anime completely removes this scene (the teacher is knocking him out of his thoughts of killing one of his classmates). It’s only notable to me in how it connects with the wider tonal differences between the versions of the story, and of how much less willing the anime is to portray light’s more mundane immature/human aspects

I'm not including pics but this sequence where light comes across a woman being harassed by a group of bikers is a lot more graphic, showing the preamble to sexual assault where the manga just implied it to be a possibility.

This one is probably more subjective, but when light pulls out the note to stare at it and laugh a little eagerly, the anime’s delivery is really like. Obvious overt Supervillain laugh (even if it is fairly quiet). The manga comes across a little more….. Idc, childish? Immature? Not to mention the sweat on his face

A small change, but in the anime there’s no disbelieving “a…[bold text] shinigami?”

Anime light sweats at his initial meeting of ryuk, but it’s gone as he resolves himself. Manga light sweats and sweats and keeps on sweating through most of the rest of the conversation, the closed eye expression being one of frustration before he opens his eyes and resolves himself.

In the manga, light’s hand trembles as he grabs the chair while getting up.

With the context of the rest of this chapter/episode, these lines come off very differently to me. Anime light feels like he was only surprised by the sight of ryuk+jumpscare, and is wayyy more confident in this situation. That he has been waiting for ryuk feels like a true statement. But in the manga, it really comes off like he is pissing himself scared right now and is desperately pretending to be cool and lies about it to try and have some control over the situation

The anime omits this hilariously awkward line, which really adds to the “light’s absolutely freaking out” of the manga

Ugh, for such a little thing im genuinely kinda devastated that the anime just doesn’t have that look between ryuk and light. It makes the “most people would be too scared” feel so much less pointed. Light later says that there’s “some power that makes you want to use the death note” and i think this bit really drives in how truly abnormal light’s behavior is, even for people who willingly use the death note. 

Off topic but I Hate those “the death note has supernatural powers that makes you evil” theories i really do, it gets rid of everything interesting about the narrative, i’ll fight you. anyways.

Again, the difference in composure. Anime light is still sweating over this, but overall way more “cool” than manga light’s heavily shadowed, serious expression and hunched shoulders

Im so sad at how they’ve removed so much of this lowkey humor in the anime. Light’s awkward laughter is so funny and characterful to me, he is sooo internally freaking out…

i think the juxtaposition of dark shit with humor to be one of the big appeals of the manga, and one of the main reasons i find the anime pretty boring tonally. 

They need to stop getting rid of light’s awkward bits, it really humanizes him

Light has resolved himself to his mission, he proclaims it with a smile on his face, in both versions. (Manga light finally doesn’t have sweat on his face anymore)

But why is he doing all this? Ryuk even asks flat out in the anime. And what does light say?

Well this is where it gets really interesting… It is here where what i believe to be the single most significant adaptation change occurs. 

Light has two RADICALLY different answers.

A childish, wide eyed smiling proclamation that “nobody will commit crimes anymore. the world will start to become a better place,” versus a serious “i was bored…too.”

once you strip away the cat and mouse games to reach the thematic and emotional bones of death note (the manga), i find it to be a story that is fundamentally a character study of our beloved beloathed protagonist light yagami. As such, i find Altering something so critical to who he is like this irrevocably changes the entire narrative. 

And the thing is, both sentiments are expressed in both versions, but come across very differently due to their contexts. 

←- right to left

This first chapter has had some fairly major structural changes done in the process of adaptation. While the anime goes from light seeing the death note fall from his classroom window to meeting ryuk for the first time in chronological order, the manga has a timeskip in the middle of it. What did they skip? Light’s first time actually using the death note. So when ryuk later tells light that he dropped the death note for a human to pick up out of boredom, light responds that he was bored too… leading directly into a flashback of when he first used the note. 

In the manga, the juxtaposition of events leads us to read “i was bored too” as: 

“Light used the death note for the first time because he was bored” 

In the anime, the same line is instead a direct answer to ryuk asking his motivation for becoming kira. Reinforced by following it up with a flashback to the immediate aftermath of light discovering that the death note truly works (+ his decision to become kira).

Though not significantly different, i do find it interesting how the anime has omitted light considering getting rid of the death note and thinking that the second victim didn’t deserve death (then talking himself into accepting it). As a result, anime light’s rationalization of his behavior feels less personal, and has much less doubt.

Again, the manga goes way harder into light’s emotional state, and doubts about this whole thing. “Just two, and look at me…” Also, no guilt blanket burrito in the anime ☹️

Now back to the conversation with ryuk, the anime is very notably missing this line from light. Ryuk has never seen someone write as many names in the notebook in 5 days as light has, and light is not dealing with it well. He’s being flippant about it, but this little line is some of the most damning evidence that the guilt of killing people is actively eating away at him, and to a pretty severe degree.

Though anime light does bring up the same/similar lines about making the world a better place and having doubts about his mission, their place in his motivations has been significantly de-emphasized. The general change in light’s characterization seems to make him look much colder, cooler and more capable, at the expense of removing most of his humanity and a lot of the dimension to his character, particularly regarding his personal feelings re: being kira.

This wouldn’t be so much of an issue to me if (ironically) the anime had changed More in order to support its new direction (the shift in light’s characterization+increased emphasis on L as well as L and Light’s dynamic), but i don’t think it executed it very well. I honestly think the musical actually delivers on these specific goals much more successfully, but we’re leaving that for another post.

6. Who were the first people to find out about the engagement? How did they react?

I actually have a whole fic about how daiggie got engaged (I will post it sometime on my other account), so I think I have it kinda figured out (even if I didn't write the part where they tell people)! The first person to know they were engaged was Ruggie's grandmother bc when Ruggie proposed Daisy was visiting their house 😭😭 so they told her right away<3 I feel like Daisy would video chat (Ruggie helped she still sucks at technology) Ace, Deuce and Grim (don't ask me how that last one went idk) and told them too🥺🥺🥺 ofc Trein also was one of the first people to know bc at the time Trein let Daisy stay at his house since she was without anywhere to go after NRC, and he's basically a father to her already! All of them were super happy about the engagement and Deuce and Ace kept bugging Daisy to make them her 'best men' even though she's a lady😭 but who cares!!! Grim was the flower cat and he was super duper happy<33 also Trein gave Ruggie the "if u hurt my daughter I'm breaking ur neck talk as a father should" /j

19. What was the ceremony like? Any highlights?

BRO I THINK ABOUT THIS WAYYYY TOO MUCH IM UNFORTUNATELY INSANE– if u wanna have a visual representation of how daiggie's wedding went. Here. That's it.

Basically it was all super fun and cute and then when they were getting out of the church it just😭 started getting super windy and super rainy😭 it was a disaster all the decorations flew away the clothes were ruined they were soaking wet and had to get inside a building to continue the festivities but daiggie were having A LOT OT FUN. It was great for them they loved it– Daisy's dress and Ruggie's suit was thankfully saved bc of Daisy's great friend Malleus Draconia (maybe) but it was insaneeee but hey!!! They were having fun<3 also my friend @selfinserttothestars told me that when it rains during weddings it's a sign of good luck😭😭 so😭😭

JOKES ASIDE. well. my writing process is kind of a mess, anon!! :’3 the way it usually goes is that i get an idea stuck in my head, write some kind of outline for it, daydream about it and then… procrastinate on writing it until the day i want to post it 😭😭 WHICH IS. very bad. don’t do that. it’s better to take your time and work a little every day, sadly my brain just… genuinely can’t work like that and i hate it </3

this might sound a little silly but. for me to actually sit down and lock in on writing, the conditions need to be. perfect 😔 i can’t be too sleepy or restless, i need to have some kind of drink and treat for emotional support, etc… but i think that kinda stuff shouldn’t be ignored!! some people can only really write when they’re in a certain place (café, at home, etc), or when they’re listening to certain music, and so on!! so if you want to get into writing it’s a good idea to find out what environment and conditions are most ideal for you :33

as for writing with more detail!!! i’m assuming you mean descriptions and stuff? :> i think it’s something that comes to you naturally after you’ve built it up enough in your writing routine, but that can take some time!! atp it’s not something i really Think about, but when i first started out i don’t think i fixated much on descriptions at all….. so never feel silly for asking!!! the only real advice i can think of is just to really zero in on what you’re describing. an action, an object, a person — and so on!! like, if a character lifts their hand, you could describe it like that word for word, right? but you could also zero in on the exact movement, their fingers, their sleeve slipping down. and stuff :3 it’s really fun to me because there’s just… sooo many different things you could focus on or let the reader know about. descriptions are a kind of dissection and i think it’s most fun when you’re really getting deep, you know?

i hope that makes sense!!! basically, just. have fun with it!! visualize the scene inside your brain. it’s also generally really really helpful to remember to include all senses in your descriptions — not just sight, but also smell, sound, touch, and so on!!! that’s a great way to make your writing more descriptive, especially if you want to build up a certain atmosphere. if your character is stepping onto a beach, and you describe what the sea looks like, but also the seasalt-scent in the air, the warm sand under their feet, the laughter around them… then it’ll add a lot to the overall vibe.

OHHH and and and!!! show, don’t tell is another helpful rule of thumb!!!! if you try not to outright say what a character is feeling, but instead show it through different tells, it’ll make your writing feel more descriptive right away, since you’ll probably end up focusing a lot on little movements and actions :3 ….. i’m not really one to talk though because i’m. kinda bad at show don’t tell. but it’s a great tool nonetheless!!!!

okay, i think . that’s all the advice i have… again, i really hope it can help you some, anon!! 🥺 pls remember to experiment and have fun first and foremost, you can always go back to your pieces and add stuff after you’re done writing your little heart out. good luck and remember that me and the mice are cheering you on in your writing journey always 🫡🫡🫡

One Interpretation: Dum Dum MV

I was looking around for some story interpretation for Jeff Satur's new MV that just dropped, couldn't find what I wanted, had to do my best to work through what I'm seeing and all my feels.

First, the video:

NOTE: THIS IS HIGHLY INTERPRETIVE. There's no one true way to interpret a music video like this. I'm going with the interpretation that I enjoy the most.

As much as I love everything Jeff does, I'm a story slut through and through, and this story lit my brain on fire.

On my first time watching, I was struggling to figure out what the story was saying. I felt like I was getting a lot of little pieces and clues, but they weren't forming a coherent picture for me.

Then like a lightning strike, "AHA!" I got it at the very end, BAM, right when this big gasping moment happened:

The story that came together for me:

Businessman!Jeff was murdered, brutally (stating the obvious here). Then somehow, some way, he was able to come back to life. The means and reason behind this are unclear, and what he comes back as is also up for interpretation, but for me it reads as Zombie!Jeff.

Visuals that support my zombie feels:

The scenes with the red windows with clawing hands

The washed out, faded hair, reminiscent of life being sucked away

The dance moves, which I know people are ragging on hard, but which to me read as "baby zombie relearning how to move"

^-- this basically comes from every zombie movie ever.

He doesn't go on his roadtrip of vengeance right away after his reanimation. He does some development first, learning how to move, getting tattoos, stockpiling weapons, etc. He also has to sing about it.

I also feel like there's a little bit of a choice that Zombie!Jeff has to make. Is he going to live his second life for himself, or is he going to pursue vengeance?

The DUALITTYYYYYY.

What happens if he does pursue vengeance? What does he lose? Does he lose his soul? Give up his chance at heaven? For me, the sky imagery supports the choice being made between heaven and hell:

Later, after he exacts his revenge, there's definitely a resolution and a CHANGE that occurs, when we see Zombie!Jeff drop like a puppet with its strings cut:

That's going to break my heart every time I see it. Ugh.

But, for me, storywise, here's the most important thing: It's only AFTER Zombie!Jeff collapses that we then see Businessman!Jeff gasp.

Big AHA! moment.

At this point, how I interpret the story is fuzzy and depends on whether I'm looking at it optimistically or pessimistically. And how that works has to do with the timeline:

The optimistic interpretation is a sequential timeline: After Zombie!Jeff gets his vengeance and then collapses, Businessman!Jeff comes back to life. Maybe his mission was actually what he had to do to regain his real life.

The pessimistic interpretation is non-sequential: After Zombie!Jeff collapses, he's finally dead for real. What happens then in the video is that we the viewers jump backwards in the timeline to see the moment Zombie!Jeff initially reanimated, taking his first zombie gasp, his lovely zombie life just beginning. Was he given a choice between following vengeance or living peacefully? Perhaps the cost of vengeance would be this second half-living life, a price to pay?

Okay so I watched the one for the horse and the infant and I know that I say this for every animatic but I'm more serious than ever when I say this one has my favourite character designs. Odysseus? The whole thing is just so good the animation is so smooth and the way the soldiers come out of the horse while Ody lists them and the fact that they're not just random basic soldiers but they all have specific characteristics ( like Neo, who's here to avenge his father and we see him in the middle of fighting and when he turns around there's a shadow on his eyes bc my man is here to be ruthless aaaaahhhahhsjsjs )

Also love that part where Ody goes inside swinging, ready to take down anything Zeus is talking about but then it's just little Astyanax with this face 🥺

OC ORIGINS TAG

Thanks to @anyablackwood both for tagging me and for the very cool post about her relationship to Japanese immigrant names! The rules for this one are:

We don't have time for a couple so we will, of course, do Arlasaire from my Untitled Yssaia Game!

🏷NAME

Arlasaire comes from the Googly-Translated words for "Of Fire" in Irish. But then I spelled it more French because Thuillean (before I made it into a real Conlang) was me taking Irish words and spelling them "more French."

In universe, Giluniques d'Magnia made the name up for her because he was 10 and 10 year olds think stupid names sound cool. (Take me at 10, giving all my characters Japanese names to make them "more anime". Ick!) Why did he name her something? Because she was burned so badly and all her family died, so she couldn't speak for a long time. She couldn't read or write either, so House d'Magnia just said "Gil, this is your new human pet! You name her!" And so he named her Arlasaire.

"But she was like 8, right? What was her name before that?"

Good note: Before that, she was named Tjen-Sa -- which is a Saegen name because her father was Saegen. It means Boon.

This is because, before I was adopted in China, I was left on a orphanage with a note pinned to me, saying my name should be "Tian Zao" (which I think is 1st-tone, 4th-tone?) which means like "To be a talent from the Heavens". So yeah, Arls is fully a self-insert and I'm happy to own that -- make me the next Dante's Inferno.

(Sidebar: I've always thought of that as like... "My True Name", if that makes sense -- like in the Fantasy Magical Names sense. But that means it is too sacred to go by on a day-to-day basis. It's like... I'm Belle and you should call me Belle. But my legal name is Isabelle and my True Name is Tian Zao. I also had other Chinese names because of the way orphanages work and stuff. It's like... a gradient of trueness. Also, while I don't know much about Chinese culture, I know names are tied to your fate and sometimes, kids have to change their names if their fate is too big or something. But I have always felt that's the name that fit me best -- it SOUNDS the most like the kind of person I want to be.)

🕯CONCEPT

Arlasaire was most inspired by Tehanu from the Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K LeGuinn and Violet from Violet Evergarden.

🎨VISUALS

Visually, Arlasaire was inspired by Zuko and Todoroki, but while their scars make them look more handsome, I explicitly wanted her scars NOT to make her prettier. It was important to me that you wince when you look at her for the first time -- because that's what people in the world do. And I think, IRL, that's what we do too when we see someone who or hear someone who is little bit mutilated and we're not used to it -- even if we don't want to!

That being said, Arlasaire is also supposed to be babygirl. Look at her. She's just a little blorbo! She's just a baby 🥺 She only stabs a little! I want her to have these big gold eyes -- like how a scared black cat will hiss and bite and then look up at you big when you pet them and they realize they like it.

Her First-Half outfit is supposed to be simple but recognizable -- SO I CAN DRAW IT over and over and not die. You know how a lot of anime takes elements from Western fantasy but you look at it and go "Nah, that's so Japanese"? That's what I wanted to do in reverse, is take vaguely Japanese influence and then make it Victorian/French-ish. (So basically, I did western clothes without the buttons!) And then her simple outfit became the backbone of all Thuillean fashion moving forward!

technique 1. gold miners

you see a cool fun text post on your dash that has less than 5000 notes; you go in the tags and scroll to the very beginning of reblog chains; there you will find the people who somehow always find the best freshly birthed text posts; choose the people who tagged it as some variation of "#text post", "#txt" or they tagged it as "#x-character-core/coded" or even better, they tagged it as their oc - go to their blog and look through that tag, usually you will find a treasure mine of text posts; if all the posts you immediately see are well known and you saw them all over your dash already, then go back and start diving on the next person's blog through the tags and keep doing it until you are out of tagger rebloggers; when you find good text posts you gotta screenshot them (try to think ahead - maybe there is a show coming out in the near future that will fit this text post)

visual example: i always have various non-popular text posts in my queue that i will dive in later when i have the time. like these

technique 2. oc and character tags again

you find a post that perfectly fits your blorbos but it has much more than 5000 notes so it's impossible to check all the rebloggers - that's fine, once again go in the notes for blog diving; start from the top and find specifically someone who tagged this post as their oc or their favourite character - that's your new source; go through the tag and it will certainly have text posts/tweets that fit your blorbo as well

visual example: i found this post for Pete and his poor burnt balls, one day i'm gonna go through it to see other people's blorbos who have suffered in a similar way, and i'm sure there will be lots of petecore stuff on their blogs

technique 3. porn blogs are your best friend when it comes to mature tv shows

find one, just one, good funny very sexual text post and go in the tags for to see which mature bloggers reblogged it using a tagging system; it can be them categorising it as "#text post" or similar, it can be them sorting posts by kink so pay attention to tags like "#petplay" "#collars" and etc, you will be able to find lots of funny sexy posts the deeper you search through their tags

visual example: see, this post has only 1500 notes, so when i will go in the tags of it i will find approximately 10-15 people who tagged it well enough for me to scroll through their tagged reblogs and find other good stuff

technique 4. when you are done with any of techniques explained above, choose best blogs to follow

while you dive in random tumblr users' blogs you will for sure stumble upon blogs that reblog amazing rare text posts; follow them and see what other gems they can bring to your dash in the future

other tips for people who make text post memes

- THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE! make sure the text screenshot that you placed on a picture/gif is large enough to be readable both on mobile and on web. check it on every gadget. i have really bad vision and squinting my eyes at the phone makes my head hurt, so i never look at memes that i can't read right away without zooming in. make them easily readable!!

- choose one style of screenshots of the text posts. it can be web screenshots, it can be mobile browser tumblr screenshots, if can be tumblr app screenshots. choose one and stick to it always, it will make your memes look neat. i always make screenshots of text posts on the tumblr app, then i put them all on a 750 pixel wide canvas, scale them down to 360 pixel width and copy paste them to 540 pixel wide pictures of blorbos. so we get something like this:

I've seen s4 and s5 many times so I've seen this ep a lot - and I think it's great! it's visually pleasing, there are scenes that break my HEART, and ash comes back!!

one of my favorite scenes from the whole series is the one where dean and sam are setting off fireworks together 🥺 it's soooo cute and it's SO supernatural, ya know? like these boys, these BROTHERS, who are illegally setting off huge fireworks in the middle of nowhere and bob dylan is playing and I just 💖💖💖💖

DEANS MEMORY OF HIS MOM AHHH and what that means to both of the boys!!! how absolutely precious it is to dean, and how foreign it is to sam.... and how they both never knew their mom (and then the image of their mom turning against them in a weird almost incestuous way? wowowowow)

and ohhhh. one of sams memories of heaven being the night he leaves for stanford? how fucking horrific for dean, how ashamed sam feels, how isolating it makes both of them feel? it's sooo delicious

so my interpretation of the soulmates thing is that they are soulmates in a way. I think they are basically two souls merged together in every possible way and that kinda sounds like soulmates to me (but imo that's too much of a cut and dry answer to... whatever the fuck these two have going on)

(I also enjoyed that they revisited the samulet thing in s10 and dean confirmed that he doesn't need jewelry to remind him how he feels about his brother.... he's always known. down to his bones.)

She does have mental disorders, including PTSD and post-stockholm(?) basically she used to have Stockholm Syndrome but was saved and recovered (kinda).

She joined in 2005 at 18 years old, and was transferred to be in the SNS 5 years after joining. She has skills in Covert ops, Undercover missions, Hand to hand and knife combat, handgun techniques, and hostage rescue. But she has difficulties in longer range combat like sniper techniques, along with being a hostage, and trying to resist brainwashing if her captors know the techniques to use.
