Before the week is over my sister in Ghana wrote a book that will be available to download on Tumblr for free. She is hoping that we can send her a small tip, nothing over $5.00 to aid her in the future writing for her next book by visiting all of our indigenous ancestors around the globe. She is telling their stories. She is a very proud lady who doesn't believe in something for nothing, so this is why she will be giving her soon to be the newly released E-book.
This book covers everything from migration out of Africa, to how Christianity was used to colonize the world. She even explained how race was invented from the unscientific methods to make slavery a Black People problem rather than indentured servitude that was a poor people problem.
Most people don't know that Europeans were the first slaves from England. This is a powerful book that you would want to read to your entire family. In her book you will see how to send your monetary support to her directly. Thanks all of you in advance. Please reblog this for her.

If I ever get my hands on a time machine, the first thing I am going to do is find whichever individuals are responsible for the misconceptions that you have to be a journalist to be a good writer and that every writer likes journalism. And then I am going to shake those people so hard they each break at least one tooth. And I am not going to apologize for it.

Charlotte Perkins Gilman (née Perkins; July 3, 1860 – August 17, 1935), also known by her first married name Charlotte Perkins Stetson, was an American humanist, novelist, writer, lecturer, advocate for social reform, and eugenicist. She was a utopian feminist and served as a role model for future generations of feminists because of her unorthodox concepts and lifestyle. She has been inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. Her best remembered work today is her semi-autobiographical short story "The Yellow Wallpaper", which she wrote after a severe bout of postpartum psychosis.

a story of one’s own
The other day, I was talking about books with a friend, some that we've both read, some she was just telling me about. And we were discussing just how good or bad the representation was in certain books, and I remember she was talking about one I've not read yet and she said "well, not that it's for me to say but I didn't think there was any racism while I was reading it. I mean, nothing racist was said, during the story or anything". Something along those lines. And now that keeps coming back to me because, it's so crazy to me that that's how some people understand representation, and race. Like, if nothing "problematic" is said during a story, then that must make it "one of the good ones" or something. Like that's not just the bare minimum. People see racism as the presence of something, not the absence of it. However, if I'm reading a story and everybody is white, or the characters of color are merely there to support their white counterparts... if that is so painfully obvious to me, how can it go so unnoticed for other people? Some creators seem utterly determined to remove us from the narrative, to not even pretend to care about inclusivity. And the worst part is, our absence is not even felt. The thought of that made me really sad. It made me wonder if a lot of authors, especially white authors who are successful, are that successful partially because their protagonists are always white. Because they only sneak a couple characters of color in the story and when they don't forget about them, they kill them off for shock value. As if that's the only value they could possibly add. It makes me think about the fact that some white people will see a book with black characters on the cover, for instance, and automatically assume that book is not for them. What makes a story "for" anyone? A story is meant to be heard. It should have no limits, that is the whole point. Why is it that when I write a story led by people who look like me, I'm potentially wiping out the part of the audience that doesn't, but that is never true when the roles are reversed?
And then I wonder, would my stories be more successful, more "palatable", if I made my characters look differently? If I commented on certain topics less? Of course, I would never do that. I don't see the point in writing if I don't get to do it authentically, if I don't get to write what I really want to write. The fact that I even have to consider it, though, angers me beyond words. I seek to be what I never found when I was growing up, I want to make people feel seen. I want to keep writing about the so-called underdogs until it's no longer rare to see a POC being the protagonist of a story that isn't about race or ethnicity. Because we all deserve to feel like we can have a story of our own.

Prompt of the Week
"Daycare"
Daycare is a place that provides care for a child, sort of like babysitting. You could literally set your story in a daycare, or you could just base it off general ideas from that theme. Perhaps the duty of keeping a child alive and safe.
The piece written to this prompt will be available on my Patreon this Saturday!

Baturaden Roadside Flowers, Forbidden Love 2 Episode 16
Tumblr media
A thin white mist burst into the air just as the metallic black car arrived at Baturaden. A cold breeze at the foot of the Mount Selamet valley greeted Bayu, who had just arrived from Jakarta. The view of towering challenging mountains spoils the eye.
It looked like the driver was busy taking his luggage out of the car to be immediately brought into the hotel where Bayu was staying. The world of tourism is really good. Bayu got many projects there.
"All my things have been brought in, Jo?" Bayu asked his personal driver.
"Yes, sir," replied Paijo.
Bayu is still standing enjoying the natural beauty of Baturaden from the hotel veranda to relieve the fatigue of the Jakarta-Banyumas road trip. It occurred to him about how Raditya's condition was, who was now lying ill in a hospital in Jakarta.
"Call the people here, Jo!!" he insisted.
Bayu orders Paijo to summon the Executors and the Foreman to come over to them. The meeting immediately started, one by one his men reported the progress of the project which was not far from where Bayu was staying...

Breaking News (An Excerpt)
(((y’all better go cop my book 🤧)))
“OH SHIT!”
Our heads whipped towards the sound. It was Tamika in the living room.
“Hold on guys,” Tell scrambled to the camera. “Technical error. We’ll be right back.”
We cut the stream and ran out of the room. We weren’t the only ones concerned. Vita and Butta had both popped out of their rooms too.
“Tam, what’s going on?!” Butta asked, tying her fluffy Victoria Secret robe closed.
“Whatever it is better be worth it.” Vita snapped, crossing her arms. “I was makin’ hella bank on live-“
“Sshhh!” Tam waved her off. Her eyes never left the television as she blasted the volume.
“A Carolina Technical and Agricultural University professor is currently being investigated for having affairs with several of his students.” A young, black newswoman reported.
My attention snapped immediately to the t.v. along with the rest of the girls. We gawked at the screen as the reporter continued.
“When the anonymous tip came in just last week, Dean Marigold Morris, took it seriously.”
The camera panned to our school’s dean. Dean Morris looked impeccable as always. Her red pantsuit was perfectly tailored to her plump figure and her gray hair was styled in a bun, but the stress was obvious on her face.
“As young black men and women pursuing higher education, I feel our students are in a particularly vulnerable position to be taken advantage of. When we received those tips, we automatically took them very seriously. That kind of behavior is inexcusable for any person in a position of authority over someone else. The professor has been dealt with accordingly.”
The camera flashed back to the young woman.
“The professor has been dismissed and the allegations are now under investigation by the school.”
“Damn…” Vita gaped at the screen. “That was worth it. Shit, new girl, when I asked what you were gonna do; I didn’t know you had that in mind.”
“I didn’t!” I exclaimed. “I never…I mean, I did tip Katie off that Asia and Mr. Rawlins were messing around, but I didn’t tell the whole damn school board!”
